“I haven't written a line of code by hand in 8 months.”

At Fortune Brainstorm Tech, Anthropic Head of Claude Code Boris Cherny said AI now handles much of the coding process. As a result, the bottleneck has shifted from writing code to reviewing it—and Anthropic uses multiple Claude agents with different personas and perspectives to collaborate on code reviews.

“What we found is with this approach we catch pretty much every bug,” he said.

00:00The amount of code written at Anthropic has increased about 8x since the beginning of the year.
00:05And this is because quad code is just writing all the code.
00:08And obviously the increase is even more, you know, if you account for last year and kind of like that
00:12deployment time for quad code.
00:14When I look at the quad code product itself, I think this might be the first product that actually just
00:18takes off.
00:19Because it's fully writing itself, it's fully code reviewing itself, it's doing its own security review.
00:24We're starting to get to the point where it's able to come up with its own ideas.
00:29So it's, you know, looking at GitHub issues, it's looking at Twitter, it's looking at Slack.
00:33And it's figuring out, like, what should I build next?
00:36And so, you know, many mornings I wake up and, you know, quad already has some pull requests that it
00:40came up with that it verified end-to-end.
00:42It has screenshots for me.
00:43It kind of showed me how this works.
00:45And it already actually filtered out some of the bad ideas.
00:49So I'm left with the good ideas.
