00:00We have one more day of big-time heat along I-95 Saturday, but that sets the table for trouble
00:05with strong to severe thunderstorms.
00:07Before the storms break out, though, we're going to probably tie record highs in Richmond, Virginia, and to the west
00:14of D.C. in Dulles.
00:15So very significant heat out there, near record highs for many, even at JFK there in Queens, New York.
00:22Now, along with the heat, a cold front is coming in from the west, and that's going to spark strong
00:27and severe thunderstorms,
00:28especially across Ohio and western Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.
00:33These storms will be aggressive, though, driven by that heat and humidity,
00:38and they will be firing across Pennsylvania, upstate New York, and making a push into the New York and Philadelphia
00:42metros
00:43as they gradually lose a little bit of steam into the evening.
00:46Damaging wind, frequent lightning, flooding downpours, Canton, Akron, Youngstown, and Pittsburgh,
00:52some cities that we're especially concerned about.
00:54So we're going to be tracking these.
00:55Once we get into Sunday, the severe threat does drop off a bit farther south.
00:59Still some strong to severe storms in parts of Virginia, West Virginia, and Southern Maryland.
