05 June - National morning forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Good morning. A much drier, much brighter day for most places today, but don't expect it to be much warmer.
00:07A cool, fresh start to Friday, but there's some sunshine out there.
00:11Now, it's not going to be completely dry. There are still quite a few showers to drift in.
00:15We'll keep them going throughout the day across western Scotland, and we'll see more developing through the day as well.
00:20But they won't be as intense. They won't be as frequent as yesterday.
00:24And large parts of eastern Scotland, eastern England may well stay dry throughout the day.
00:28The showers even further west will be, as I say, more scattered, so a better chance of seeing some lengthier
00:33spells of sunshine.
00:34Not as blustery across the south either, but a fairly brisk wind around some of these western coasts, and it
00:40may gust up quickly when the showers do come along.
00:43Temperature-wise, as well, we're starting fairly fresh, and although there'll be some sunshine and lighter winds, and that'll probably
00:49make it feel a bit warmer than yesterday,
00:51temperatures are going to be quite similar.
00:53So, peaking in the mid-teens, of course, much of the north, maybe the high teens further south and east.
00:59So, perhaps a touch below the average for the time of year.
01:02As we go through the evening, showers will tend to keep going across the Midlands.
01:06We'll see a few more over northern England.
01:08And then look at this.
01:09A big swirl of wet and windy weather comes swinging in as we go through Friday night.
01:15Some gusty conditions developing by the first part of Saturday.
01:19I've got South Wales and southwest England in particular.
01:21With the wet and windy weather swinging in, that'll keep the temperatures up double digits across much of the south.
01:27Maybe single figures with some clearer spells across northern Scotland.
01:31That's wet and windy weather, courtesy of this.
01:33Quite an intense area of low pressure, still some uncertainty about its exact track and how powerful it's going to
01:38be.
01:39But some unusually strong winds for June, certainly likely across South Wales and southwest England.
01:44A spell of heavy rain will spiral its way slowly northwards.
01:48Perhaps something a bit drier and brighter for much of Saturday over northeast Scotland.
01:52And we should see some sunny spells developing as that first area of rain clears through over Wales and southern
01:58England.
01:58But even then, they'll be accompanied the sunny spells by some fairly heavy and frequent showers coming in on that
02:05stiff wind,
02:06which lasts all the day along the south coast of England.
02:09So quite a blustery, gusty day.
02:11There will be some sunny spells between the downpours in the afternoon,
02:14which will see those temperatures again getting into the mid or maybe high teens at best.
02:19But again, it'll feel cooler with that strong wind blowing across particularly parts of Wales and southern England.
02:26All that wet and windy weather will tend to clear away on Saturday,
02:29but we could well see more, particularly across the north on Sunday.
02:32For more on that, you'll want to watch the full weekend video with Aidan.
02:36And that is, of course, available on our YouTube channel.
