00:00Hello, today is likely to see the highest temperatures in this current heat wave, but that doesn't mean the heat
00:07is really going anyway, it's just kind of shifting around a little bit.
00:11Here's the view from space, it shows quite a lot of cloud out to the west, that's a weather front
00:15which has been providing some outbreaks of rain into western Scotland.
00:19High pressure ahead of it and crucially high pressure behind it and this one will kind of topple in and
00:24squeeze out and eventually wring out the wet weather on this weather front.
00:27But still through the day today, it's going to make for quite a wet picture across the highlands of Scotland
00:32and the westerners.
00:33Elsewhere though, the high pressure is dominating, the air is sinking, the breeze picking up a little bit across the
00:38south, some mist and low cloud around coasts in the west at times, but generally it is sunny and it
00:44is hot.
00:45The sun is strong, UV levels will be very high today, so you're going to need the sunscreen, you're going
00:49to need a hat on, you're going to need to stay hydrated.
00:51There will be some pleasant sea breezes around the beaches at inland temperatures, particularly in this zone, across the Midlands,
00:58up towards northwest England and up towards Yorkshire, down from southeast England to southeastern parts of Wales and across the
01:04southwest.
01:05Temperatures widely over 30 Celsius, 34, 35, perhaps even 36 Celsius.
01:10A little cooler, as I said, around some coasts and obviously cooler in Scotland where we've got the thicker cloud
01:15in the far northwest.
01:16But southwest Scotland could still get 30 Celsius in the sunshine here, pretty warm in the sun across the east
01:22of Northern Ireland too, where it stays clear overnight.
01:24Northern parts of Northern Ireland seeing thickening cloud and the rain getting a bit heavier in northern Scotland through the
01:30early hours, particularly over northeast Scotland.
01:32Some heavy rain likely here, especially for Aberdeenshire as we start Saturday.
01:37Further south, it stays dry, just a shift, the breeze picking up a little bit, coming in more from the
01:42northeast.
01:42Now, that's going to do a couple of things. It's going to introduce more mist and low cloud along some
01:46of these North Sea coasts for Saturday.
01:48It just means that the heat continues to shift a little bit further west.
01:51It won't be quite as hot across these eastern areas, but still a very warm night.
01:56And temperatures, of course, some towns and cities in the south may stay up over 20 degrees Celsius.
02:01Bit of a great start then for eastern counties of England.
02:04Certainly a dull day for much of central and eastern Scotland on Saturday.
02:09Very different feel here with some outbreaks of rain.
02:11The heavier rain in the far northeast should peter out through the morning, but some outbreaks of rain through central
02:17and southern Scotland on and off through the day.
02:19May see a little bit of showery rain at times in the north of Northern Ireland, but again, across the
02:23south here, it may well brighten up with some sunshine.
02:26But northwestern Scotland having a brighter day as well, a slightly fresher day, certainly compared to elsewhere.
02:32And it will be cooler in these eastern areas with that breeze coming in.
02:37So temperatures not as high on the east coast.
02:39The heat just shifting further west and not as not as high.
02:42But still on Saturday, we could get into the low or perhaps even mid 30s in and around the Bristol
02:46area up towards Cardiff.
02:48So another hot one in the sunshine across the south and west, but temperatures not as high on Saturday across
02:54the east.
02:55That breeze still just bringing in the mist and low cloud.
02:58We may well see more of that spilling in as we go through Saturday night.
03:01The showery rain turning to ease across eastern parts of Scotland.
03:05Into Sunday, we could start with some mist and low cloud inland across England and Wales, but it should clear
03:11pretty smartly.
03:12One thing to be watching for down to the southwest, the possibility of some heavy thundery showers coming up through
03:18the day.
03:19It will be a brighter day in eastern Scotland.
03:21Still a fair bit of cloud, but a better chance of seeing some sunshine through central and southern Scotland Sunday
03:26compared to Saturday.
03:27Lots of sunshine for Northern Ireland.
03:29Again, subtle shifts in the heat.
03:31Well, we've got the breeze from the sea.
03:33It'll be cooler on the coast and not as hot in the east, but still 30 degrees in and around
03:38the London area.
03:38The highest temperatures again in this zone, southwest England, parts of South Wales, but still very warm, hot for most
03:45places.
03:46And the heat will continue generally into next week.
