00:00Good morning. The hot sunny weather will become more widespread through the rest of this week,
00:05but for today it's still largely confined to the southern half of the UK.
00:09So if you prefer your weather cool and damp and drizzly, well Western Scotland is the place to be.
00:14Some light showery rain too for Northern Ireland at times this morning,
00:18and also across parts of Northern England the odd spot of rain is possible.
00:21But certainly Western Scotland is staying pretty damp.
00:24Much of the south though dry with increasing amounts of strong sunshine.
00:29UV levels will be very high in places today.
00:32The wind's fairly light in most areas as well, a bit breezy at times in the far northwest,
00:37but otherwise the temperature's just ticking up under that strong sunshine.
00:42The heat peaking in the southeast close to London, 30, 31, maybe 32 Celsius,
00:48whereas further north with the thicker cloud we will see temperatures only struggling to get into the low 20s
00:54and maybe only mid-teens across Western Scotland,
00:57where outbreaks of rain and drizzle will continue into this evening time.
01:00Elsewhere it is going to be a largely dry and a balmy summer's evening across the south really.
01:06At times through the day today and into tonight we could see things getting a little misty
01:10around the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, particularly the north coast.
01:14Elsewhere we'll see generally clear skies through the night,
01:17except across the northwest where that thicker cloud will continue to provide some drizzle
01:22over the Highlands and the Western Islands.
01:24Still a bit breezy here as well, otherwise the wind's fairly light.
01:27Temperatures are going to hold up, quite a warm night, particularly so in the south.
01:31We may see some towns and cities holding up in the high teens.
01:34Elsewhere we'll be down to about 14 or 15 to start Wednesday.
01:38Overall, a warmer day on Wednesday for the likes of northern England,
01:41northern Ireland and eastern Scotland.
01:44Still cooler across the northwest, still with some cloud and outbreaks of rain
01:48over the Highlands and the Western Islands.
01:50But most places, again, another day of strong sunshine.
01:53Again, UV levels will be high.
01:56Mist and low cloud expected to be less of a problem around the coast of southwest England.
02:00There will be some pleasant sea breezes which keep the temperatures down around some of our beaches.
02:06But inland, temperatures more widely up into the mid to high 20s.
02:10And across the southeast and parts of South Wales, we could easily get over 31, maybe up to 32 Celsius.
02:16But a hotter day in eastern Scotland as well, 24, 25 here.
02:21And temperatures a few degrees higher across much of northern England all set.
02:25The heat will continue and become a little bit more widespread through the rest of this week.
