00:02we're back on the trail of the pga tour to see if we can pick some winners this week we
00:06got
00:06brady cannon in the house for that it was awfully close uh before we get to memorials awfully close
00:11last week uh brady which to me was the most fantastic finish of any of the golf tournaments
00:17that we've seen on the tour this year i mean that's just impossible to deny russell henley
00:22did win that was not the story uh it was an insane playoff eric cole was involved it was an
00:27insane
00:28finish you had four or five golfers all feeling like with 10 minutes to go in the tournament they
00:33had a chance to win you just don't see this that often and so that and it's not to say
00:38that the
00:38schwab is an anonymous tournament because it's not but i mean to see everybody having a shot at the
00:45end like this was just rare it was awesome and the course really delivered you know your winning score
00:51in regulation was 12 under par that proves that it's a really good test and this is not a massive
00:58golf course it's relatively short by tour standards um it just was a great test for these players and
01:05like we talked about last week it's also a good indicator for possible u.s open success so maybe
01:11russell henley maybe eric cole maybe some of these contenders uh land on your radar for next week at
01:17shinnecock you know talk about all that drama coming down the stretch i'm heading into sunday
01:23with eric cole in first place with matt meesner in third place and ryan gerard in second place
01:30and i still couldn't get the winner russell henley beat me with four straight birdies to knock me out
01:35jesus yeah i mean it was just such an insane ending i'm sorry you were on the back end of
01:41that brady but
01:42i know that uh this week you enjoy this one i think that you've mentioned that this is one of
01:45your
01:45your uh favorites i don't know if that's still the case the memorial which is this week and i know
01:50you've always done real well with some bombs here so everybody is back in the field this week
01:55scotty scheffler rory mcelroy ober cam young it is a who's who uh in this big tune-up for the
02:03upcoming
02:04u.s open here in a couple of weeks uh what do you make of the field it's definitely a
02:09star-studded one
02:10and i think certainly uh this is one that scotty has had success at in the past yeah he's going
02:16for
02:16a three-peat uh the two-time defending champion is scotty scheffler and you have you know some
02:22star-studded names as far as past winners as well justin rose hideki matsuyama uh you know it's
02:30and and it's very much you talk about being a favorite of mine i love riviera where the la
02:36open the genesis invitational and then the memorial i think those are a couple of the best golf tournaments
02:41on tour that are not major championships and this is a wonderful test prior to the masters jack of
02:48course this is jack's place no nobody doesn't show up for mr nicholas um he was inspired by augusta
02:55national the greens are very similar fast and undulated but it's kind of like a combination of
03:01a masters and a u.s open where you have some very thick rough that is going to be especially
03:06penal
03:07off the tee so you've got to do everything well here and of course that's why guys like scotty
03:13scheffler and victor hovland and what have you rise to the top so it ought to be another great one
03:18and
03:18again it's another good pointer to who might be ready to take down a trophy next week at shinnecock
03:24so i i think when i look at it here let's let's show the field real quick here uh guys
03:29here for uh for
03:30brady one more time because brady's going to give his pits his picks but maddie fitzpatrick
03:35and henley i guess after the win last week i mean brady these were usually 25 and 30s to one
03:41no longer
03:41the case they're near the top here in terms of the field well it's very interesting craig i've played
03:47some really big long shots for what is now three weeks in a row and you put scotty scheffler and
03:53rory
03:53mcelroy in this field and next thing you know you know you've got your fitzpatrick's in the neighborhood
03:59of 25 and henley and that and shoffler but you know pretty soon you're looking at jordan spieth and
04:06and some of the top players in the world that are 50 60 adam scott i played adam scott at
04:1170 to one
04:12i played gary woodland at 80 to one woodland just finished sixth last week at colonial and has a win
04:18earlier this year spieth has been playing really really well he's in the neighborhood of 50 to one
04:24nikolai hoigard i got at 75 to one uh chris gotter up we know how good this kid has been
04:31uh you know a top 10 at the pga championship a lot of people like him next week at shinnecock
04:37because
04:37it's a very open championship style test and of course chris gotter up a winner at the scottish
04:43open last year so yeah spieth hoigard gotter up woodland scott and then the canadian nick taylor
04:51a half a dozen on my card this week and there's not one shorter than 50 to one and you
04:56know thanks
04:56to scotty and rory for elevating those odds on everybody else yeah it makes a lot of sense there
05:01so those are brady's picks this week good luck brady to you with all of your selections certainly
05:06and we'll catch up again soon thanks for coming on newswire yeah we'll talk to you next week for the
05:10u.s open my friend
