Halloween weekend is going to be a wet one from California to the Rockies.
Transcript
00:00Hey, we're dealing with some soaking rain and there has been some small, non-damaging hail
00:05in parts of Vegas today, but by the numbers, we've had a very, very wet month of October.
00:11It's not totally done yet, but a lot of us have taken your typical amount of rain in October
00:15and multiply that by three or three and a half. Pretty decent rain. Good start to the wet season
00:21in Southern California. Sometimes we have to wait deeper into November before we actually begin to
00:25see our first few storms like what we will face this weekend. Here you can see some of that rain.
00:30At the end of this loop, as we get into the afternoon, look at these storms popping over Las Vegas.
00:35We also have some steady rain into southern parts of Utah. Tomorrow night, we're going to get drenched
00:40in places like Phoenix. Most of the day tomorrow looks okay in Phoenix, but tomorrow night, get ready
00:45for it to surge back in. There's a connection to Hawaii with this ribbit of moisture. It's going
00:50to be energized by this new disturbance dropping south over the East Pacific. There's a big plume
00:55of moisture, and if you look at this area of widespread cloud cover west-southwest of Los
01:00Angeles, that's included with some rain. There's some rain under those big billowing clouds,
01:05and that's going to move into Southern California tomorrow evening. During the day, spotty showers
01:10in areas around Los Angeles and San Diego. We'll have some scattered showers in the interior
01:15as well. Your Halloween forecast, you may want to take an umbrella or a poncho as long
01:20as it doesn't interfere with the costume too much. Just prepare for some wet weather there
01:24in L.A. and Sacramento as well. Dry during the day in Tucson, but drenching rain late tomorrow
01:29night there. Other areas like San Francisco, you're going to squeak through most of the day dry.
01:33San Diego, most of your showers will be in the afternoon. Dry in Phoenix during the day,
01:38but soaking rain rolls late at night. Ohio State at USC, here we have some scattered showers around.
01:44This is an evening game, 4.30 Pacific time, 7.30 Eastern. So as we get deeper into the evening,
01:51the showers will increase, and it's not just a rain situation. We also have some snow out there
01:55in our forecast. In the high ground of the Sierra, one to three inches of snow coming to Donner Pass.
02:00One is more likely than three there, but we should get three plus in Sonora Pass and four plus
02:05at Tioga Pass. The flooding rain will be a concern into the interior. The dark green zones where we have
02:10flash flooding, and Sunday's going to be a wash out there in southern Arizona with showers gradually
02:16fading by Sunday evening in L.A., but that'll bring an inch or two of rain into San Diego and
02:21an inch
02:22plus into the foothills around L.A., two to four inches in Flagstaff and other areas in the high
02:27ground. This system moves east on Sunday. Snow in the Rockies, and then eventually into Monday,
02:32the cold front plows east. And moving into the plains, we're going to be dealing with some severe weather
02:37weather in two areas around the southern plains on especially Monday's forecast. Tuesday,
02:44thunderstorms roll east into places like Arkansas. Some of these will be severe with some potential
02:50for damaging wind and isolated tornadoes.
