00:00Welcome back to Newswire here on SportsGrid.
00:02The Masters choices from everybody picking last week seemingly was going against every single pick without Rory McIlroy in the
00:12field.
00:12As the final group, as the winner, and yet we had the champion right in our backyard, so to speak,
00:18Brady.
00:19A green jacket two years in a row for Rory McIlroy.
00:24And, you know, basically it's just so hard to repeat at the Masters.
00:27We just simply looked at that and said, OK, let's find somebody else to win.
00:31But it was apparent, I think, even very early on that he was going to be in the mix.
00:36It got dicey, of course, on 18 and at the end.
00:40But he does he does something that basically nobody expected him to do.
00:43And I'll leave it at that.
00:45Yeah, no, you're exactly right.
00:47And it got really dicey on Saturday when he gave up a six shot lead and brought everybody else into
00:52the tournament.
00:53And, of course, I'm sitting here with a ticket on Cam Young and Justin Rose.
00:57And Rose had a two shot lead heading into the second nine on Sunday.
01:02But it actually ended, I thought, a little bit anticlimactic.
01:06Nobody really challenged him on the backside on Sunday.
01:10You know, he was kind of given a free pass.
01:12Cam Young parred every hole.
01:14Justin Rose had it on the par five 13th and in two putting for eagle and three putts for a
01:20par.
01:20And like you say, made it a little bit interesting there on the 18th hole.
01:24Scotty Scheffler made a charge.
01:26And, you know, we never really celebrate the sports books, but they beat us good in getting Rory home with
01:33a winner.
01:34Because like you said, nobody bet on this guy to repeat.
01:37And so the sports books made out pretty well with the Masters result.
01:40I just saw the announcement, another hotel being built by you in Las Vegas.
01:45Yes, with a few of my dollars.
01:47Yes, all of ours, definitely.
01:49All right, so Scotty finished second.
01:52And, yes, talking with Brady last week, Rose Young, those were popular picks.
01:57And certainly they finished top 10 and top 20, but they did not end up taking it home.
02:01But, yes, congratulations to Rory McIlroy.
02:04And certainly a well-deserved week off.
02:07But the show goes on, Brady, as they say this week.
02:10The tour heads to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
02:13It was a little unclear as to whether or not Scotty Scheffler was going to play in the RBC Heritage.
02:18But he announced that he will play this week.
02:21So, naturally, he is going to be the overwhelming favorite.
02:24And always a very compelling tournament, usually down to the end, especially when they get the big names back.
02:30And some of them are indeed playing this week.
02:32Yeah, I love this tournament, Craig.
02:35You go from the green jacket to the tartan plaid coat.
02:38I wore my tartan plaid, you know, red jacket here.
02:41I've actually played Harbortown before.
02:43And it's just this wonderful, like, semi-vacation after the big to-do and the hoopla surrounding the Masters.
02:51You know, go down to the low country, chill out.
02:54And a few years ago, this tournament got a real shot in the arm when they made it a signature
02:58event.
02:59So, now you've got all the best players here as well.
03:02Great golf course.
03:03Great tournament.
03:04It's a really good two-week stretch.
03:07And I think the perfect fit for after the Masters.
03:10Scotty, one of the only guys, if maybe the only guy, that when he won the Masters a couple years
03:14ago, went on and won the Heritage as well.
03:17So, he's done extremely well here in the past.
03:20And what's interesting, Craig, is it's like a polar opposite of the Masters.
03:24The Augusta National is just this massive, huge property.
03:29And Hilton Head is this little, tiny, compact, claustrophobic, coastal design, accuracy-based, that type of thing.
03:38And the Masters is such a big-boy track.
03:40But I love this course.
03:42And we'll see if we can.
03:43We had a good Masters.
03:45We got a lot of top 20s.
03:46We did well on our matchups.
03:47We just couldn't hit the outright.
03:49We'll see if we can get it this week.
03:50All right, so who do you like this week with Xander, 15-1, Fitzpatrick, 16-1.
03:56A lot of bunched-up players after Scotty at 4-1 or 4.5-1.
04:01Yeah, my friends at BetMGM, I got a note this morning, almost 50% of the tickets are on Scotty
04:09Scheffler to win this golf tournament.
04:11Or maybe it's Handel.
04:13Just getting overwhelming support at BetMGM.
04:16I did not land on him.
04:18One thing that is similar about Hilton Head to the Masters is the stickiness.
04:23Guys that play well here typically do so year in and year out.
04:27Patrick Cantlay is an absolute machine here.
04:30I took Cantlay.
04:32I took Russell Henley, who had a great Masters.
04:35And then I took three guys who missed the cut at Augusta.
04:38Maybe an extra couple days off, we'll give them the rest that they need.
04:42And that was Akshay Batia, Daniel Berger, and Robert McIntyre.
04:47So McIntyre, Berger, Batia, Henley, and Cantlay at Hilton Head.
04:52Right.
04:53Really good stuff as always, Brady.
04:55We'll see what happens this week.
04:56And naturally, our next destination as we close in will be the U.S. Open.
05:01So looking forward to discussing that with you as we pursue the summer of golf.
05:04Thanks again, Brady.
05:05Really appreciate it.
05:06You bet it.
05:07Have a great weekend.
05:07Have a great weekend.
