00:00So, the Miles thing, like I'll admit, I wanted to get smoked about it on social media just
00:07to kind of keep myself within, not within the boundaries of good taste, that's for coming
00:12in hot, but within reason, and honestly, within sanity.
00:16Because when I'm breaking down, I just keep hearing all this crap about Miles, and this
00:20isn't even about trading Miles here, necessarily, okay?
00:24When I keep hearing about all this crap from all these people saying, you better buckle
00:29up and get ready about trading Miles, it bothers me, because this is, we're getting ready
00:33for a season, and no matter what you think of the team's going to do, I think they're going
00:37to be a 7-win team, there's people on this station that think they're going to be a 10-win
00:40team, they're trying to win.
00:41Okay, well, you don't do that without 95, and for the people who keep telling me, well,
00:46you know, how good have they been with Miles Garrett, imagine how much they'd suck without
00:50Miles Garrett.
00:51Because I'll tell you right now, that guy, with how well he's played, Denzel Ward's Denzel
00:57Ward.
00:57I'm not trying to take away.
00:58There's good, solid players on that defense, but let's be clear about something here.
01:02The talent that Miles Garrett has, the talent that he has where you have to game plan for
01:07him, where every game plan starts and ends with Miles Garrett, has got other guys paid
01:12on that defense.
01:13So I don't want to hear a damn word about, well, just how much have they won with Miles?
01:17That's ridiculous to me.
01:19All right, now that that's off my chest, let's talk about what you'd be chasing if you were
01:24to make this decision.
01:25Well, I was just going to say one quick thing.
01:27I mean, say it.
01:28Is it out of the realm of possibilities that they could win more games this year if they
01:34traded Miles, whatever, but they got good quarterback play?
01:37Yeah.
01:38Like, I know that's the biggest tip ever.
01:40Is there a better chance if they get, better chance to trade him if they, I'm sorry, I see
01:43Taylor in Houston, Texans.
01:45Make sure he's Houston, Texas.
01:46Make sure he stays there about 920.
01:49I want to make sure we get to him.
01:50I'm just saying, like, is it that impossible that the Browns could actually have a better
01:54season this year without Miles Garrett on the team, which would be a step back defensively?
01:58Yeah, if the quarterback plays that well.
01:59And also, I mean, you could, who's your quarterback room?
02:02Oh, it's obviously one of the worst on paper right now in the NFL.
02:06So anything can happen.
02:07But the reason I say that is, you don't need the best defensive player in the game to win
02:13games in the NFL.
02:14Plenty of teams prove that they could do that all the time.
02:16You don't, but it, it doesn't hurt.
02:20It doesn't hurt.
02:21No, no, no.
02:22But, you know, you're, the only reason when we talk about value and yes, people hate the
02:28dreaded draft pick thing.
02:29Clevelanders are always big on draft pick.
02:31Well, yeah, when you're bad, draft picks are your only means to an end.
02:34It literally is the only way that you can improve the team to where you want to be and to
02:39actually
02:40compete at a significant level.
02:41Well, it is to cash in on draft picks and trading miles would give you more primo draft picks.
02:47That's all.
02:48Obviously.
02:48Yes.
02:49That's the whole thing of it.
02:50That's the, that's the entire reason.
02:52No one wants to trade him because they think he's bad or they think he's a bad guy or anything
02:56like that.
02:56The whole reason is you do it, you do it for a quarterback.
02:59I want to play Daryl here and hopefully it's the right clip.
03:02Maybe it is.
03:02Maybe it's not.
03:03We'll find out from John.
03:04Cause I sent him running on a wild goose chase, but here's Daryl on the issue.
03:07And I just, I got to keep throwing this in guys' faces here.
03:10Here's Daryl about trading miles.
03:12Go get a QB.
03:12This organization is not losing its way into a top two or three pick next year.
03:17Okay.
03:17That's not going to happen.
03:18They're going to win anywhere between seven and nine games.
03:20Maybe they win 10.
03:21Then why the hell trade away miles Garrett?
03:23Well, here's why Ken, because the only way you're getting that quarterback is you need
03:28picks.
03:28Who's the guy on this team that's going to get you those picks?
03:30What I'm saying is if you trade away miles Garrett, I think that makes that win total
03:34goes down.
03:36All right.
03:36So it kind of was kind of wasn't all right.
03:38Go back to the interview here at 92, three, the fan.com.
03:41Cause Daryl and I kind of got in a back and forth over it there where you can use the
03:44rewind feature on the free Odyssey app as well.
03:46Powered by integrated restoration, your local experts in water, fire and storm disaster
03:50restoration.
03:51So Daryl and I kind of got into a little bit of a back and forth.
03:54Wasn't like you and Daryl at times, but Daryl and I had a back and forth about it.
03:57See, this is my issue.
03:58I told, I asked Daryl, I go name the elite quarterbacks right now off the top of your head in
04:01the NFL, the elite ones who can keep everything afloat.
04:06Even when the team isn't doing so hot, even, excuse me, even when the team around him isn't
04:11as talented as others, the ones that can keep a team in the playoffs while they go through
04:15roster transitions.
04:16There's my homes, Jared Allen, there's Jared, well, Jared Allen, I tell you what he's been
04:23under our nose the entire time.
04:25There's Josh Allen.
04:26And right now, buddy, that might be the end of the list.
04:28He mentioned Joe Burrow.
04:30They didn't go to the playoffs and they're doing Joe Burrow's bidding.
04:33So I don't want to hear any of this crap.
04:34So what I'm bringing up here is this.
04:37I will, when I say what I'm about to say, I will get accused of living in 1970s football,
04:43but when's the last time we've only named two guys in this league that are elite, quote
04:52unquote, with certainty.
04:55We've had arguments before when this station first started, there was seven, eight guys
05:01who you would talk about with that type of certainty.
05:04It made more sense.
05:05Now we're sitting here because I've told you about this before and I'll go off on a tangent
05:09if I'm not careful because I'm getting pretty passionate about this and pretty upset.
05:14Folks, you know what the college situation is.
05:17You know, the guys are transferring all over the place.
05:19So, you know, they aren't always going to get the great big, they're not always going
05:22to get the best coaching because you're going for the dollar and that's fine.
05:26Go make your money while you can.
05:27But now you're seeing it where we thought that the spring portal would close, except you
05:31just saw the situation.
05:32Maybe you did.
05:33Maybe you didn't.
05:33Where the kid is going to go from UCLA and they're going to put him basically because he's
05:38going to be a track athlete.
05:39So we found a way to work around the spring portal there and I'm sure Moore will take
05:43advantage of that.
05:43So let me not try to bog it down as best I can.
05:46Quarterback plays down in college football.
05:48We know that for all those reasons we've said a million times over and we talked about
05:51on the pod.
05:52That means that it's going to be questionable in the NFL.
05:55You have more guys who are risks than they've ever been and you've had more guys playing
05:59the position in the last 20 years during a season than it's ever been.
06:03Part of that is because the 17th game, but part of it is because guys get banged up because
06:07they're more athletic than they ever were and because more of them suck.
06:11And just last year, we got ready for a season and I sat here and went, yeah, hell, Dylan Gabriel,
06:19because this is before we knew Dylan Gabriel just couldn't play the position at a level
06:22worth of Cleveland Browns and good luck to him in the future because they ain't going to
06:24be here.
06:25Yeah.
06:26Yeah, maybe Dylan Gabriel.
06:27Yeah, maybe Shador because we didn't care because we thought we were going to be at
06:30the top of the draft and we were going to go get ourselves a quarterback.
06:33And then what happened to the quarterback class all dried up.
06:35There was one guy that was worth taking in the first round or excuse me, at the top of
06:39the draft.
06:40And even he comes with a comment with a conversation about, oh yeah, well, you know, is he really
06:45that good or is it just that year?
06:47And we keep telling ourselves that there's going to be six and seven and eight quarterbacks taken
06:51in this first round.
06:52Brennan Soresby, he's going to have been a top five pick.
06:54Yeah, well, now I got to deal with whether or not he's going to put it all on red before
06:57the game.
06:58Like, now I got to worry about that now.
07:00So what I'm pointing out is this.
07:01I know what I have right in front of me.
07:04We have been talking about, and they've done this, literally did it in 2016 and 17, trying
07:11to go out and get that quarterback.
07:13And what I'm saying is, man, you guys keep chasing this dragon that you can't catch where
07:17at some point, you know, you got to try to just keep winning games instead of
07:20just keep throwing seasons away and throwing Hall of Famers away.
07:25There is a way to go about this.
07:28So if we really do believe, I'll tell you what, if they do trade the guy, I want them
07:35to have passion behind someone.
07:36And I know that this is going to be something, but if all the stuff, like I brought up the
07:41conspiracies about Arch Manning and then I went on vacation, me to Kimes brought up the
07:45whole thing.
07:45If they think that Arch is going to go ahead and decide that he wants to go play for the
07:49Cleveland Browns because of who his family is, because of the history, more power to
07:54you.
07:54But I'm telling you, you guys know damn, damn well that you could trade that Hall of Famer
08:00and get three first round picks.
08:01And then we'll sit here and cross our fingers and hope that the guy we take is going to be
08:04good.
08:05But I'm giving you fewer and fewer examples of elite quarterback play than I ever have in
08:10the history of the station.
08:13And I know when certain people hear this, they'll say, Kenny stuck in 1975 football.
08:18It's not defense and running game anymore.
08:20And I'll go, yeah, I think you guys are stuck in the past where you guys think that all these
08:24guys are going to just fall out of the trees.
08:25Where's, where's the elite quarterback play?
08:27We got to find ways to win somehow.
08:29Somehow it is a cyclical, a cyclical game.
08:32Is it not?
08:33Where we kind of go through ebbs and flows.
08:36That's what makes football beautiful.
08:38And I just, I, I, I just get frustrated because if I say I got questions about trading the
08:45guy, eh, you're just, you're just a fan.
08:47You're holding onto it.
08:49I am a fan.
08:50Okay.
08:51But I'm not just a fan.
08:52I know what I got as a great football player.
08:54Now, if somebody offers me three first round picks, what the hell am I supposed to do?
08:58All right.
08:58I understand that's what we're talking about.
09:00But damn man.
09:00I mean, we're everybody's just in this hurry to do it.
09:03And I'm going, there's guys, we got to go against the backslide too.
09:07Yeah.
09:08But also part of that, part of that calculus is, and Miles has been very healthy for a
09:14while, but you know, the next, every guy, you know, that, that injury luck comes calling.
09:20Once you have a knee injury, that's it.
09:22Like that's the end of him having any value whatsoever.
09:24And then will he be the same player as we're on the other side of 30?
09:28I mean, and I'm saying also, are my chances just as good or almost as good or as better
09:35as they've ever been finding a guy mid round, late round, even too.
09:40Like say they do finish with nine wins and they have Miles.
09:43And I'm sure a lot of people go, well, great.
09:45What do we get?
09:45We just went nine and eight and didn't make the playoffs.
09:47Whoop-dee-doo.
09:50Everybody wants to throw Jackson Dart in my face.
09:53Everybody wants to throw Shook in my face.
09:55Maybe you guys are going to throw Ty Simpson in my face.
09:59Like there's other guys that maybe you can find.
10:01It's just, we, we just keep throwing away seasons, throwing away years, throwing away careers.
10:06You don't have to throw away anything to get a Sorsby.
10:11That, the argument that I'm making is turning into, that is turning into the best argument
10:15that you could possibly make.
10:16Because honestly, what, the supplemental draft, it could be second round.
10:19Second round.
10:20At the, probably the highest.
10:21Second round.
10:23Red shirt year.
10:23Get them some counseling.
10:24Let's go.
10:27But then I got to worry about a gamble.
10:29There's a lot to worry about.
10:30I got to worry about a gamble being a gambler.
10:32Holy cow, is there a lot to worry about.
10:35Because I don't know how to touch that.
10:36Like there's, like we've had guys with, I hate to say it, drug problems before.
10:40And it's like, we're not the place for them.
10:42Domestic assault?
10:43Alcohol.
10:45Just problems off the field.
10:46Domestic assault.
10:47All that stuff.
10:48And it's like, man, we are not the place to fix these guys.
10:50And now I got to deal with a different generation when it comes to gambling.
10:53And I, I kind of want to see him be, as much as I hate to say it, I don't
10:57want, it's a,
10:58it's a man's life.
11:00But I kind of want him to be the canary in the coal mine before I go and make these
11:04conversations happen.
11:05Because I could sit here and compare him to Arch Lister all day and night.
11:08And that's a bygone era.
11:09That's living in the past.
11:10Like this, this is the future.
11:12There are plenty of guys right now who are in high school that are looking at their,
11:16if their parents bought him for it, which is sick.
11:19They're, I mean, they're looking at their, their stuff right now.
11:22They're looking at their, their, their parlays right now.
11:25And if they can do it within reason, if they can do it responsibly, it's just like anything else.
11:30Fine.
11:30Fine.
11:31But this ain't going to be the first time or the, excuse me, this ain't going to be the last
11:34time
11:34we bring this up about a quarterback who ends up playing a big position for our football team.
11:38So it's just a matter of time, but maybe I'd like to see him try it with somebody else.
11:42But I tell you what, after everything I just said, if we want to get, if, if the closest thing
11:47to what I just said, and I know about the whole, well, maybe I want somebody else.
11:52If I really want to have my cake and eat it too, you want to hold on to miles?
11:56Then yeah, Brendan Soaresby might actually be that answer.
11:59If you have zero faith in these quarterbacks and not a lot of people do, except for their
12:05most zealous fans of each of those guys.
12:07But I think the general Browns fan is like, yeah, we'll see if they can, we'll see if they
12:12can do it.
12:12And if not, we're going to go in a different direction.
12:15And they mostly think they're not.
12:172-1-6-4-7-4-0-92.
12:20I'm glad.
12:21Thank you for letting me get that off my chest.
12:22That felt damn good.
12:23I love Daryl, and I know that people are going to hear that and they're going to think
12:27I'm living in 1976.
12:29It's not, man.
12:30Maybe, maybe you guys haven't caught up on it.
12:32Tell me the elite QBs in this league that can just keep their team afloat.
12:36And what are our chances of getting that guy?
12:38Even if we do finish in the top five.
