00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:04And we've seen a change in the weather across much of the UK, heavy showers, some thunderstorms as well.
00:10Low pressure in charge at the moment. Not everywhere seeing these showers, but quite likely they will continue over the
00:15next 24 hours.
00:16A cooler northerly flow setting in towards the end of the working week.
00:20But then there are signs of high pressure moving in as we move through the weekend.
00:24Thunderstorm warnings across northern parts of the UK this evening as heavy showers continue to push southwards.
00:31The heaviest of showers through the evening and overnight transferring to northern parts of England, north Wales.
00:36We could see 20 to 30 millimetres of rain, some rumbles of thunder, some lightning, some hail in there too.
00:42But in between there'll be some clearer periods.
00:44The driest weather towards southeast England and northerly flow starting to bring further showers into parts of Scotland and Northern
00:52Ireland overnight.
00:53Chilly here, temperatures in the countryside falling into single figures, low double digits under the cloud and showers across the
00:59rest of England and Wales.
01:01So on Thursday morning some heavy thundery downpours across parts of England and Wales first thing.
01:08These slowly transferring further southwards as we move through the day.
01:12Lightning hailed in there.
01:13Some tricky travelling conditions.
01:15A northerly breeze following on across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland, Northern England.
01:20Sunny spells and a scattering of showers here.
01:23Less showers compared to today.
01:25Some of them still though perhaps on the heavy side.
01:28Some drier weather across southern England as well.
01:31And that northerly breeze, temperatures just dropping another degree or so.
01:3422 or 23 in the best of the sunshine in the far south.
01:38But for most, the high teens.
01:40Perhaps locally 20, 21 degrees.
01:42So in that breeze around those showers, it will feel rather chilly.
01:46And those showers continuing as we move through into Thursday evening as well.
01:51With clearing skies, it will be a chillier night taking us into Friday morning.
01:56Countryside spots falling into single figures, perhaps mint single figures across northern parts of the UK.
02:03So it is quite a chilly start to Friday morning.
02:06But there will be sunny spells around.
02:08A scattering of showers.
02:09And that northerly breeze, the showers will be focused a little more towards north-facing coast.
02:14But they will move inland at times.
02:16Best of the sunshine holding on to some central areas.
02:20But clouding over through into the afternoon as showers try to bubble up.
02:23But generally overall, less showers around on Friday.
02:26But still that cool northerly breeze for everyone.
02:29So temperatures actually falling a little below average for the time of year.
02:33High teens locally in the best of the sunshine, 21, 22 degrees.
02:38So feeling a little chilly out there with those exposed winds.
02:42Then taking a look at the weekend, high pressure tries to move back in from the Atlantic.
02:46It will bring some settled weather.
02:49Perhaps some weather fronts moving around the northern edge of it through the weekend.
02:52Give some showery rain across parts of Scotland.
02:55Temperatures recovering slightly in the sunshine back up to 22, 23.
02:58So feeling pleasant for many with generally lighter winds.
