02:39spot you got to calm the nerves like what you're probably start seeing 100 start making a few
02:44mistakes because he he understands like this is a good position he's going to be in kenny didn't get
02:48away but you can almost tighten up so if he can get through these next three or four laps
02:52i think he'll be fine just minimizing those mistakes keep that 94 in check where they are at the moment

03:07it's roxon's favor at the moment as they settle in to their race rhythm yeah i mean it's it's really
03:16blow for blow right now and both guys doing exactly what they need to do and james i am having

03:29championship but the guy had to beat was just a couple riders behind me and if i could just stay

03:40absolutely let me give you a little insight now ken roxon is already his game plan of running away
03:46from this race is done what he's doing is starting to go with that defensive understanding that when
03:51hunter comes where am i going to block him where's hunter good so even though he's out front he's paying
03:56attention and making sure he's already prepared for when that 96 comes up i'm going to tell you guys right
04:01now too and james i've never seen anyone be able to do it as good as you has is when
04:07someone would
04:07pass you for the lead you were so good at getting them back right at right as soon as they
04:13pass you
04:14and kenny kenny roxon is one of those guys so if hunter is able to get by watch the attack
04:21in the
04:21reaction from the 96. hudder is close they haven't been this close in a while yeah you're talking
04:28about tenths of seconds between them he's just he's still got to play it cool now the biggest thing
04:34though is they got to be mindful because prado and the four of chase exon are lurking
04:40and there's some traffic they clear that no problem yeah you can already start to see you know hunter's
04:48pretty strong through the whoops kenny's starting to make some mistakes and like i said at this
04:52point my game plan is already to go into offense and when i go to pass them back i think
04:58ricky as you
04:58mentioned that's why i was so good at passing guys back because that first game plan was gone i started
05:04prepared and catch that guy off guard and i would assume again we talked about the people that hunter has
05:11and is here they know the strong suits of the 94 and where he can do his best work and
05:18so hunter should
05:19know that and anticipate and that's all assuming that he is going to make the move by the 94 will
05:26wiki you talked about the guys behind these guys right now mentor johnny omeiro as you obviously know
05:32very well we talked all about larry brooks team manager and mentor for ken roxson and when i spoke to
05:38them multiple times today they just said oh couldn't this just be over they just wanted the day
05:42to accelerate and they said this is what we fight for this is it but johnny was saying this is
05:47way
05:47harder than racing he's like i would sooner put the helmet on and go do this myself because not
05:52being in control of this and having to watch is the hardest part the entire team is behind both of
05:58these guys uh respectively and it's uh it's tough for all of them right now to watch this all unfold
06:03hunter
06:03lawrence may have an issue here because jorge prado has suddenly come into view and into the mix
06:10this could be hunter lawrence's worst nightmare he just wants a clear path to ken roxson roxson's
06:16enjoying his time out front meanwhile jorge prado he's in search of his first career supercross victory
06:23yeah this is a very difficult spot for hunter and jorge as well because he doesn't really want to
06:29get in between but i think if jorge makes the pass he probably has to make sure that he can
06:34get around
06:34the 94 as well he doesn't want to be in between them and from hunter lawrence at some point if
06:39jorge's
06:40running it in he almost might want to let him go so he can get kenny and then you can
06:44go back to that
06:45race instead of having to deal with him there's been a lot of times this year where hunter has been
06:50in a
06:51position where he's been behind prado and he has wasted too much time and i don't know i would hope
06:56in this situation that prado races is clean doesn't make anything too crazy of a move because he knows
07:04what is at stake for these guys and i think would expect a return in the pro motocross championship as
07:11well if he was in this position an unfortunate end of the supercross portion of the season for jordan
07:16smith he's off meanwhile lawrence gets closer and closer to roxon yeah if i'm if i'm hunter lawrence
07:22i'm gonna try to get him now you know and as good as jorge is riding maybe i can get
07:27around kenny
07:28and i got to make sure i plan it where it happens so kenny doesn't get back but maybe then
07:32kenny has
07:32to deal with him but i i think that he needs to get by him in the sand section james
07:36that way he can
07:38get a little gap before he gets that left-hander before the finish because anywhere in these tiger areas
07:44it's just too easy for kenny to make another move to get back by him cooper webb bottom box fighting
07:49dylan ferrandes for seventh place or pass him in the corner before the whoops close him out so ken
07:56can't get a drive and get him back yeah rapidly approaching the halfway mark of this main event
08:02the final one of the supercross season cooper webb almost side by side with dylan ferrandes kudos to
08:09ken roxon right now still riding exceptionally well and this is the area of the race and the
08:15time of the race where it's he's going to have to do his best work from the halfway point on
08:20yeah you
08:21can tell roxon starting to loosen up and that point where he starts to go into that offensive mode or
08:27defensive mode thinking that hunter is going to get around him now hunter has a problem because now
08:31ken's getting comfortable it's going to make hunter oh no mistake by hunter lawrence
08:36leaves the track able to come back on lost time to ken roxon and now has prado all over him
08:46that was a huge moment right there with hunter lawrence saving that motorcycle shouldn't be oh he's down
08:54it's over hunter lawrence has dropped it done deal right there and again he goes down drops the bike
09:06this has massive championship implications there it is yeah wow that'll do it right there and it's
09:15unfortunate because they both are riding so well and it is going to take an absolute miracle
09:22for hunter lawrence to win this championship against a guy who is as polished as ken roxon yeah he made
09:30the
09:30mistake before going off the racetrack over jumps that front end goes then it hooks up and you got
09:35to start thinking that that was a little bit of what happening with ken as i was just saying ken
09:39starting to look more comfortable now hunter has to pick up that pace and that's it
09:48lawrence is now 15 almost 16 seconds adrift of this man right here ken roxon and again ken has
09:56so much insurance right now because all he has to do is finish in front of hunter and jt it

10:03it's it's been a wild ride it has been and guys i really think that a big variable there was
10:11jorge
10:11prado showing up to the party because it changed hunter lawrence's strategy he had to pick up the pace
10:17he had to find some urgency to defend against prado you saw him starting to get a little bit
10:22more aggressive that led to one big mistake which led to another it's really hard to say a race all
10:27came down to that but i really think that what hunter wanted to do was wait wait wait until late
10:32and he simply couldn't do it because of prado you're 100 right jt you can tell i mean even when
10:37jorge ran
10:38off i mean hunter ran off the racetrack just his angle of trying to protect making sure jorge didn't
10:43get back up to the inside i completely agree with you on that jorge had some just a little bit
10:48of
10:48influence and took his mind off and that was it yeah he went off script and had to ride defensive
10:55because of jorge and ken but you know how hard it was and you talking about clutching up how hard
11:02it
11:02was for ken to remount from how the day is gone he wasn't that great in qualifying practice he he
11:08obviously had his issues and mistakes in the heat race in the start outside and just make it happen in
11:16the most important pertinent time that was incredible yeah yeah i agree we are over the
11:24halfway mark quick reminder to stock up on monster energy drinks at smith's and he just cruised him
11:32he's able to check up in the corners he doesn't have to take any risk whatsoever
11:38see a lot of lappers getting out of the way great job for that
11:42before roxon came to the united states he won an mx2 championship in europe and then he won 250 west
11:51division and he's won a couple of 450 motocross titles but never a 450 supercross championship at
11:59the age of 32 the father of two has been having the year of his career let's hear from kenny
12:07himself
12:08on how he handles this enormous pressure i've you know dream my whole life especially in these last
12:16few years to be in a championship position and with that come you know high stress uh situations and and
12:25a lot of things to deal with emotionally so now i'm here and i i have those things i'm in
12:29this position to
12:30be able to wrap this up so it's time to enjoy that and take it all in
12:40probably some of the toughest moments of ken's yeah race and career it's just these laps right here
12:45yeah i mean this race was seven and a half minutes plus one lap it's going to feel like an
12:50absolute
12:51eternity you feel like you start hearing noises from the bike the engine
12:57as you two know all too well it's the people it's the people that surround you that that support you
13:04and will a key support person in the roxon story is his team manager and somebody who he regards as
13:12like a second father figure in larry brooks tell us more about larry so pivotal lead to kenny's program
13:20and just what they've built over the last three years since ken and larry got this going at suzuki and
13:27they had this dream and ken has told me over the season here that with larry not being there with
13:33him doing chemotherapy he said i want these wins for him every time we have a good night on the
13:40track
13:40whether it's a win or we got a podium that night he's like i want that for him that's like
13:45my gift to him
13:46so if that's a gift let's consider for a second larry's back now for the first time since the
13:52second round back in january at the beginning of the season everything that larry's been through when
13:58he means so much to ken what this is like to be able to share this with him and the
14:03achievements that
14:04they have made together it's uh very very special well said well said i i agree larry brooks is a
14:13huge huge part of ken robson just keeping his attitude and i'm sure he went back and talked to larry
14:19after that heat race and larry told him what he would tell me kid you're good like you're good we've
14:26got here for a reason we have the red plate just go do your thing and he said it earlier
14:30a little bit
14:30ricky after that heat race like that might have been the best thing for ken because now it puts
14:35him in the spot he's not protecting heat race didn't go good hunter lawrence is smiling puts him
14:39on the outside and on the gate which probably ultimately was a better position for him because
14:44he had a better angle going in everything was set up for ken to come out here and really be
14:49on the
14:50offensive and he he executed it in that first corner the second corner right here was his championship
14:56pass yeah and it's just like just go out there and do you it really does take the pressure off
15:01because it's almost like you don't it is what it is at that point this is adding to the significance
15:07of
15:07of roxon in five minutes plus a lapse time if he seals the deal there's only a handful of foreign
15:14-born
15:15premier class supercross champions so he's going to join a very elite list and it's been 35 years
15:22since john michelle bale since the last european born supercross premier class champion
15:29the special nature of this moment just continues to amplify for ken roxson yeah i'm just i'm just going
15:37through and replaying these last 13 years in the premier class and the growth and the you know the
15:44challenges that he's had the things that he's done right and the amount of talent he's had
15:49and the guys that he's raced along the way the villipodos the dungies the stewards the reeds i
15:56mean some of the best in the business on the record books and to finally be able to this stage
16:02in your
16:02career this stage in your age in your life to make it happen really it's a storybook ending and he
16:08could
16:09ride off into the sunset never race another day in his life and he finally got the job done yeah
16:14absolutely
16:15here comes mr salt lake chase sexton has won this race i believe last two or three times won his
16:22first championship here three times in a row trying to make it four and i i think chase understands if
16:27he can close that gap on kenny kenny's probably just going to let him by so it's a great opportunity
16:32for him to just put these um put the pressure on him a little bit these next two laps close
16:37that gap and
16:38might get the second win of the year one is he looked really good there he's been very patient
16:45chipping away on jorge prado he's only a couple of seconds two and a half seconds behind roxon
16:50three and a half minutes to go plus a lap
16:56being kenny in this situation too like not having to go and ride so hard and ride super efficient i
17:03mean
17:03it just makes the bike work that much better you're not overcooking the engine and everything's just
17:08working better and i don't obviously he wants to win the race but i wouldn't even think he'd be bummed
17:14yeah sexton got by him for the win because this is this is the big one he's getting right here

17:20if they're friends uh and sexton looking up the track at roxon sexton a champion in his own right will
17:27be pleased for kenny to get this done as the minutes wind down and the fairy tale story gets closer

17:36closer to actually being a reality wife courtney in the stands that's her mum in front
17:47what a journey she's been on with kenny and we go back to that very emotional night
17:53in st louis when it was three years after the injury that almost ended roxon's career to see
18:00kenny come back and win again yeah really cool you got jay dungy eli's mechanic right up there watching
18:09with him courtney's got the kid pulling on and that's true mom style right there but
18:15must be the ultimate mother's day gift right here can you imagine just the emotions going through her
18:20head right now and especially kenny trying to stay focused and just thinking about what that's been
18:26like but still able to maintain this pace it's pretty remarkable definitely got the bike working a
18:35little bit better through those whoops compared to what earlier and as you mentioned maybe just
18:39slowing down a little bit the bike has more traction i think this is chase's opportunity right here
18:46kenny's son's grip and right there with mom watching dad do what dad does best
18:53and what's chase sexton gonna do here i think kenny's gonna let him buy yeah probably right here in his
19:00next corner chase get in your front look back here we go sexton thought about it had a go now

19:48possibly oh over jumping both justin cooper yeah you know there's a little bit of motivation from him
19:55to be able to try to get around um jorge and then you got cooper webb behind him kenny might
20:01have finished off the podium yeah exactly yeah he's cruising now even if he loses these positions
20:08championship wise he will still win because he has that advantage over hunter lawrence points wise
20:16rockson's still third but here they come they're lining up for a shot at him through the whoops prado's
20:22gone by justin cooper's gone by and cooper webb is lining up yep roxon says you can go for it
