03:58You wouldn't know by watching him,
04:00but he is in rehab mode
04:03but making it look good at the moment.

04:09since he's been out front.

05:45on the starting line
05:46and it said three words,

05:52that they are trying to fix
05:53the problems he may have
05:54going into this championship.

05:57between this class and 250
05:58that you've got Jet Lawrence,

24:31but one thing that the team did mention to me earlier is that he is becoming more patient with both
24:36age and experience patience with the new bike but you know the other thing about Dylan that was really interesting
24:42is it's a new bike but the team kind of remained in the same so it was less relationship building
24:47but more R.D. building a bike all from ground zero so it has been a big learning curve regardless
24:52if his personnel is going to learn.
24:54Yeah thanks Katie bottom box is Hunter Lawrence on Hayden Deegan again yes although the Ducati brand is new to
25:00this a lot of the technicians over there with the factory connection suspension team they were working with Miranda's the
25:08last two years at Phoenix Honda so yep a lot of familiar faces they also used to work with Justin
25:14Barsha and Barsha's younger 250 class days so they kind of put the band back together and Barsha rode for
25:20TLD when they were a gas gas team
25:24the first top five for Ducati pretty much anything four-headed or Barsha gets this year is going to be
25:29setting a new bar for Ducati but look at this Hunter Lawrence this is as close as he has been
25:34with Deegan since the opening lap
25:36to the inside
25:42makes it happen can Deegan come back hey Deegan's always been great at responding but if he has anything
25:48there it is yeah he tried he had an opening
25:51now what that does it just makes Hunter a little
25:54nervous a little bit now he's on the far end side
26:00first shot he had to make some contact he took it
26:04and Hunter pours it on yeah you you know but also Hunter is a veteran he kind of understands that

26:48where it was the whole time pours it on makes the move all that being said though still a step

26:56right direction for Deegan even though he just got passed I mean yeah I mean I honestly didn't think

27:39and this is being able to have that flexibility imagine your ankle not being able to move as much
27:44so he has to lift his foot up to actually tap the rear brake depending on what angle he comes

27:49that's an adjustment it's a huge adjustment for a rider we've seen guys do this you think about max
27:54bowling in the 250 class learning how to use a rear uh handbrake it takes time and if it only
28:01took a
28:01race and this is where we're at um you know it's gonna be pretty good yeah he said the lack
28:08of uh range
28:09of motion so you gotta press down on that pedal and he doesn't have full rotation down with the foot
28:15so
28:15they just have the pedal start higher so he doesn't have to push down as far on it but I
28:21gotta imagine you
28:21just so many instincts built up yeah it is and the rear brake does a lot more than just stopping
28:28these guys use it I mean they tap the rear brakes in the air to change the angle of the
28:32bike they can
28:33hold it down to keep the suspension from bouncing up so there's a lot of places they will use the
28:36rear
28:37brake JT yeah guys I'll be honest with you I did not expect Jet to look like this in week
28:44two after
28:44watching last weekend he did not look right to me watching him limp off the podium I was in pain
28:51watching him try to walk I just didn't think we would see this quick of a turnaround and I know
28:55it's only one moto through the day but watching him in qualifying watching him in this first moto
29:00firmly in command this is a really really quick recovery and if it's only going to get better from
29:07here these guys better buckle up I'm with you JT I think some fans watching were just concerned like
29:13oh no it's JT Lawrence just going to be diminished in general and it was going to be a long
29:19time maybe
29:19where we'd really get an answer to that question he might be answering it right now that it's a-okay
29:26because this looks eerily like his previous two championship seasons and a whole lot better than a week
29:31ago yeah I think the concern was was just health and how that foot could be obviously he's got a
29:36great
29:37team so they did a lot of work I love the management that they use whether they chose not to
29:41ride here
29:42on days it's working out but it was never going to be about like could he have speed and all
29:47that this
29:48kid has so much talent and if he could have the help and get on the motorcycle he'll figure out
29:53how
29:53to ride around the rear brake or whatever issues he's dealing with and to me that's what's happened this
29:59first moto I go back to what I said at practice how big that was for Jet Lawrence to have
30:03that speed
30:04so now he knows he can go fast even if it hurts he can go fast and now being out
30:09front got more
30:09comfortable and he's learning how to race in a place where he's so used to being at up front
30:15and this is what you get now you told me earlier today something that's so interesting the mind of
30:20an athlete pain you're saying isn't really the problem it's performance if you have speed you deal
30:25with the pain no absolutely I mean I think for us you know the pain is normal like every time
30:31we come
30:31out it's hard but as an athlete the thing that fears you the most is you've not been able to
30:36do
30:36what you do best so if that's Jet Lawrence it's speed coming to first race you know like all right
30:42I know my foot's gonna hurt but if I'm in practice and I'm trying to go fast and I'm third
30:46and I'm way
30:47down that kills a rider and all this work is for nothing and you can kind of see this how
30:52it works
30:52with other guys and the mentality so Jet having that speed that second practice the way he did
30:57you saw the difference and this part getting on the racetrack get used is easy that's gonna happen
31:04if you put this guy up front he's gonna get easy speed is one thing that you can't um you
31:08need to
31:09have it you don't Jet Lawrence found it now he's found himself 10 seconds out front as well oh man
31:14only took seven days what a massive improvement obviously the start getting that whole shot is a
31:19big part of it as well but this is a quality and quantity weight it's not just the victory it's
31:25not
31:26just the start it's how well he rode to get it he left Deegan in the dust he did the
31:30same thing to
31:31Hunter who was back there dealing with Deegan and honestly you do not often see this big of a lead
31:36this is actually a big lead based on how Jet normally runs these races yeah I agree but that being

31:42that 96 I know he's not gonna lose any confidence in himself and I will say that Jet really put
31:50it to
31:50Hayden but I think early I mean he put it to all these guys but early in this race Hunter
31:54Lawrence saw that
31:55that pace to run my brother down it's not gonna happen he put all his weight on just beating Hayden
32:00Deegan so I don't think Hunter Lawrence was racing this guy after a few laps I think Hunter is riding
32:05great he's keeping his gaps 10 seconds and they both out front this is going to be a really close

32:31wanted to make that pass seeing where Hayden was that's the type of rider Hunter Lawrence is so once
32:35he realized that Jet is too far I'm not taking that risk but I'm gonna beat everybody else so Hunter
32:41knows that game and trust me he he's fine another thing to watch here Prado is hammering down he just
32:48around a 157.9 second quickest rider on the track behind Hunter and he has taken what was a big
32:55gap
32:55to Deegan down to just four seconds and he is going three seconds a lot faster at the moment now

34:07himself and now he's able to sit down to recover so it's not taxing his body looks good well with
34:15Deegan moving into this class and Prado certainly improving this year I think everyone just wanted to
34:20see everyone have a shot at it whether you're a Jett Lawrence fan or not you certainly want to see

34:25the contenders there it's unfortunate that Tomac got lost last week from this field we hope we get
34:31him back but you do want to see Jett Lawrence do Jett Lawrence things and may the best man win

34:36races in this title and this is a huge step forward if you want to see Jett Lawrence at his

34:42certainly a lot closer today and it's got to feel good well he's won a lot of these but this
