00:00Plus 2, here we go.
00:06Ah, Kitchin gets squeezed bad.
00:09Hamaker almost goes down.
00:11Oh, he does now.
00:13A big pileup in turn 1.
00:14Deacon Denno on the 5-11 triumph to the lead with Davies.
00:18And a disaster back here.
00:20That's a huge pileup.
00:21There's actually two pileups.
00:22There's another one on the far end side.
00:24So I don't know who else got caught in that.
00:26But, yeah, that was a close one.
00:28You saw Seth try to shoot that gap.
00:31He just got going.
00:34That's one of the Rockstar Husqvarnaz.
00:36Is that Cochran?
00:39No, it's Benick.
00:4158.
00:43Cole Davies.
00:44Tough first photo.
00:45It's now on the lead.
00:46These guys are still down.
00:51Cole Davies taking advantage.
00:53A big gap.
00:55Nick Romano.
00:57Off in the third position.
00:58Great start for him.
01:00Dudley.
01:01Yeah.
01:01Great start.
01:03My kitchen looks like he's in seventh, eighth place.
01:07Well, this could be kitchen's opportunity like last week.
01:10It got away from him in this manner.
01:12Now it has gone away from Hamaker.
01:14Now the good news is for Hamaker, so many other riders went down.
01:17He is already in 28th place.
01:20The bad news is time-wise, gap-wise, way back.
01:25Because it took forever for all of them to get up.
01:27Kitchen going to work on the 19th.
01:29The Club MX Yamaha of Boland, the local product.
01:33Yeah, now I'm curious to see how Levi plays this.
01:35He mentioned in the first moto that he needed to start picking up the pace just a little bit quicker.
01:39He felt like he had to pace, so will he do that now knowing probably he saw his teammate go
01:43down?
01:44So we'll see.
01:50And taking advantage of all of it is Davies does have a moto win in his career.
01:55Last year at Bud's Creek, some penalties for some other riders have bumped him from third to first.
02:00But let the record book show he's been a moto winner before, and he's working on another right now.
02:05How about Ditto?
02:06In his second pro moto cross race, the rookie is second.
02:11Romano has been lightning off the starts this year.
02:13The third, Dudney Kitchen Boland, top six.
02:23And talked to Ditto today.
02:25Learned a lot last week.
02:27He's pretty happy with the second moto.
02:29He felt like he was running 10th and comfortably.
02:33Ditto just had a little problem, but felt comfortable.
02:36He said the goal today is top 10.
02:39We've got to show this first turn again.
02:42Yeah, now this is a wild first corner.
02:44Right here, you're going to see Seth Panmaker.
02:46Now watch what happens with him as he gets in here.
02:49We're going to roll it.
02:50It's going to get cut off, but then he's going to shoot the gap.
02:53And then he ends up clipping, I believe, the backside of Cole Davies.
02:56And then there was a domino effect.
02:57He gets hit a couple times.
02:59He actually wasn't even caught up on the outside pilot we were looking at.
03:02There was another one, and Seth gets his bike, ran over.
03:06Just the way this racetrack is, this hang down, this first corner is really close.
03:10And those guys are shooting those gaps, and that can happen easily.
03:13Casey Cochran, he's actually the one that got the worst.
03:15He got run over.
03:16He has had basically anything that can go wrong.
03:19Has happened wrong for Cochran over the last 12 months.
03:23And he took a big hit.
03:24Not sure if he's still circulating.
03:26Hope he's okay.
03:28Kid should get work done.
03:30He's up to fourth.
03:31Yeah, that was a great move by Levi.
03:34He's more aggressive.
03:35I mean, Cole Davies has got five seconds on these guys,
03:37but seems to be struggling towards the end of the moto.
03:39So we'll keep an eye on that.
03:41Where I'm wondering, where is our Honda, the teammates, George Shimoda?
03:4719th for Shimoda.
03:49Wow.
03:50I'm looking for Hatmaker 23rd.
03:54It's hard to really say in this moto because of that first turn.
03:57Who got caught?
03:58Where so many riders, probably more than a dozen, were affected by that.
04:02Here is Bumford of the 71 riding well again, just like he did in a moto one.
04:07And here's Bolland.
04:08Challenging.
04:09He doesn't.
04:10Whoa.
04:10Bumford.
04:11Where did he come from?
04:12He came from off the racetrack.
04:14Back on there.
04:16Yeah, probably just missed it.
04:17Probably hit a bump, went off the racetrack, and then needed to get back on there.
04:20Close moment by these guys.
04:22But we saw Duckley last weekend get on the podium up there, at least riding up towards that lead.
04:28And I'm looking at Deacon Dino in second place.
04:31All it really takes is one start.
04:33And they know they have the pace.
04:36And unfortunately for them, the starts really cost them.
04:38But it's good to see them up here.
04:39And now we're watching Battle Force 17.
04:41Joe Shimoda, I believe the Adam Simpson.
04:45Yeah, the look-alike.
04:46Yeah, the look-alike temperament up there just got passed by Joe.
04:51A lot of work for these guys.
04:52JT.
04:53Yeah, just when you guys were mentioning Shimoda there, he was down just inside of Seth Handmaker there.
04:58So a lot of the players in this went down.
05:01The most interesting thing, it seemed like Handmaker started a chain reaction to the outside.
05:06But I'd be curious to know if when Handmaker pulled back to the inside, did he start that crash on
05:11the inside also?
05:12What a wild turn of events for this championship, though.
05:14We talked about, we felt like this title might go this way.
05:18There's going to be a lot of 30-point days that might get you on the podium.
05:22And yet, two races in, we might have another one on our hands.
05:25Podium.
05:26I feel like that's that old playoffs.
05:28How are we going to talk podium here?
05:30It is all sorts of mixed up.
05:32If it ended this way, it would actually be Kitchin with the overall win over Davies and Romano.
05:39Romano battling right now, helping his cause, getting around Denno.
05:43Yeah, I don't know if Dika made a mistake or he's definitely losing some time in this last lap.
05:48But, you know, what that shows you is just how thin the gaps are in this sport.
05:53I mean, Seth probably had one of the best routes ever.
05:55He had about an hour ago, and then comes out, goes down to the first corner, and we're talking like,
06:00Podium, what are you talking about?
06:01Just trying to get back up.
06:02So, quickly things can happen out front.
06:06It's not even really worth looking at the podium map right now.
06:08You can see it on the lower left, but it's going to change in a hurry.
06:11You got Kitchin, Romano, Davies again.
06:13That will be the top three at the moment.
06:16But how do you track all those guys coming from the back?
06:18And look at Kitchin on a rail.
06:21Yeah, Levi's been doing this to all four motos this year.
06:24You know, he's had that speed.
06:25Good ride by Dika to hold him off, but I feel like this pass is going to happen anyway.
06:30He's just applying that pressure before he puts it on him.
06:34All right, who's going to break later on the bottom of the hill here?
06:37Kitchin able to take the measure of Deno.
06:40Yep, carving him up.
06:42It's been looking great all day.
06:43I love his body.
06:45He's able to move his body around and keep that rear tire on the ground so it's pushing him more.
06:50I believe that's where he's making up a lot of his time,
06:52especially on this racetrack as he's trying to close in on his teammate in second.
06:58Kitchin has not won an overall since the end of 2024.
07:02At Bud's Creek, got a couple of wins that season.
07:05And a big struggle last year.
07:07A lot of it came down to starts.
07:08Kawasaki had a new engine last year.
07:10And although they said it was fast on the track,
07:12it wasn't as good out of the hole as the old engine.
07:15They did a lot of work in the offseason to make it better for starts.
07:19And they got that thing flying right now.
07:22Here's Hamaker in the bottom box.
07:23He has moved into point scoring position, now into 19th.
07:27Yeah, you can see Joe Shimoda as he gets into it with another rider, goes off the racetrack.
07:32Now, you know, Seth has been a lot faster than most of these guys.
07:35So it's hard in these beginning parts.
07:37You just got to let this flow out, you know, thin out.
07:40And that's hard as a rider like Seth.
07:41You want to make a passer.
07:42So it's controlled chaos.
07:44But he's got to be careful because he does have a 16-point lead at the moment.
07:49Well, coming into this race, that gap is a lot different now.
07:56But the other problem, and Kitchin experienced it last week.
07:59Back there, you never know.
08:01Look at this pack that Hamaker is rolling up on as Kitchin looks to make the move on his buddy
08:06Romano and does for second.
08:08Yeah, a great move by Levi at that moment, getting up in the second.
08:13Let's see if they can close that gap on Cole Davies, Katie.
08:15Yeah, Levi Kitchin is one of the guys that can get it done, of course.
08:18Talking to the team, they've mentioned that his fitness is great and his mindset is here to win.
08:23It really is about the long game for Levi Kitchin.
08:27And meanwhile, his pass on Nick Romano and talking with Mitch Payton, on the other hand, for Nick, he really
08:33needs to work on his fitness.
08:34So he's been having those great starts that we've seen in the last four motos this season.
08:39But he needs to stay out there.
08:40He needs to give it his all.
08:41And they really need to focus on his fitness.
08:45Oh, I'm going to get into race shape.
08:47He just keeps piling up more motos at the front.
08:51Romano's been there pretty much every start.
08:55Yeah, it's hard to work on.
08:57I mean, you've got to race to figure it out.
08:59But I would say he's probably in a lot better shape than sometimes he feels after these motos.
09:03Because when we talked about it in the first moto, the battles never stop.
09:07You know, so you look behind him.
09:08He's got ten guys coming.
09:09And any kind of breaks, he's got to have them there.
09:13Now, what's interesting about Handmaker's progress, I think he's actually closing on Shimoda.
09:19So you actually have a battle of two potential title threats.
09:23But all the way back at around 15th place, that's Shimoda there.
09:27Handmaker is 16th.
09:28And I think Seth is catching him.
09:30Yeah, Joe's been stuck behind all these guys.
09:33He went into a guy at the same place the last lap.
09:36They hit.
09:36One guy went off the racetrack.
09:37So as you can see, he's got three riders, four riders in front of him.
09:41How do you pick a line?
09:42And that's holding up Joe.
09:43So as he tries to make that pass, where it gets difficult is when Seth gets close.
09:47He's going to have to leave that door open.
09:48It might get passed back.
09:50Well, I love about this drone cam.
09:51You hear the riders say all the time, oh, man, you get a bad start.
09:54It is pure chaos back there.
09:56You saw four riders crisscrossing lines in front of Shimoda.
10:00No such trouble for the young New Zealander out front.
10:03Cole Davies, a ten-second lead.
10:08Yeah, and we saw Cole do this in Supercross.
10:12Very economical in the way he rides.
10:14You see him standing up.
10:15Usually when you put him in front in Supercross, it was going to be hard to catch him.
10:18But Levi Stark can close that gap.
10:20But Cole still has a great pace.
10:22And if he can hold on, we'll see how to enter the race plays out for him.
10:26Well, speaking of that, look, Kitchen has the overall already.
10:29He'd be sitting on a 2-2.
10:30That would easily beat Davies, who has an 11th in Moto 1.
10:33But they pay points for Moto.
10:35And confidence-wise, you don't want Davies to get on a roll here.
10:39So is Kitchen going to go for it here?
10:41Or is it too big?
10:42Yeah, I think the next two laps are really going to kind of tell that story.
10:45I mean, if I'm Levi, I'm sure he kind of knows maybe Cole maybe struggles towards the end of the
10:49race.
10:49Because Cole was one of your favorites, even though he wasn't the favorite.
10:52He is a guy that, if he wins this race and wins the championship, it wouldn't be expected as he
10:56almost goes over the handlebars right there.
10:58So if I'm Levi, long story short, I'm going to let it play out these next couple laps.
11:02I've got the overall, not necessarily worried about Cole at the moment.
11:06But if I can, I'll try to win this race.
11:10All right, so that is a critical juncture.
11:12Back to Hamaker.
11:13Got the red number plates.
11:16Every pass, by the way, when you're in the top 20, is one more championship point.
11:19I think Shimoda has finally made some progress, making some passes here.
11:24He's gotten around the 74 of Gage Linville on that 5-11 triumph.
11:28But here comes Hamaker looking to do the same.
11:31Yeah, Joe was able to get around, and now you've got the rookie behind him.
11:35But at the moment, Seth has a one-point lead.
11:37So every point now, he's increasing that points lead.
11:41So that's why I was going back to Seth.
11:43Look, I know you want to get up there, but you also have a pretty big points lead as he's
11:47swapping around.
11:48Try to keep this thing going, but that's going to be hard to do, JT.
11:51It is, but, you know, when you look back on the championship, and we always do this,
11:54and you wonder where were the points lost or won that determines the championship.
11:58And, yes, winning races is important, make no mistake.
12:01But days like this, motos like this, where Seth is in 28th on the first lap,
12:05and whether he gets to 15th, which he's around now, or he can get up to, like, 7th,
12:10that is a huge difference in how this championship will look and feel when we get into July and August.
12:16So these bad days have determined the course of the championship.
12:19Seth Hamaker is in the midst of one in Moto2.
12:22Yeah, JT, I'm not sure this is a low cortisol, which is what Seth Hamaker was looking for in today.
12:28But he also said that he has been so much more mentally flexible this season.
12:32He knows that in his past, as we have a yellow flag there at that corner,
12:35and we try to control all these things, but it doesn't always go the way we want.
12:39He has been working so hard and so diligently on learning to adapt,
12:42not only on the bike, but him as a person through life circumstances.
12:46Stu, how important is that as a rider?
12:49It's very important, and I think the toughest part is that you just saw
12:53we had Enzo Zimmerman go down right in front of him.
12:56When you're in these situations, all these guys are battling,
12:59so that points gap can be erased for you.
13:02But I think if I'm Seth, I know it's difficult in the moment,
13:05but what I saw today and even now, if he can just get back up,
13:09today's still ultimately a win because the guys showed something,
13:13and the way he won that first moto, it's pretty good.
13:16You can't help the first corner.
13:18I mean, things just happen.
13:19You go down, you just got to make the best of it, and that's what he's trying to do.
13:22And Shimoda, now that he's finally gotten around that, what,
13:25four or five rider pack ahead of him,
13:27has begun to pull back away from Hamaker, who's still battling through.
13:31Got held up when Zimmerman went down, so Shimoda is 12th,
13:35third in the first moto.
13:37Can he dig out an overall podium today?
13:40If you look at the lower left again, that's the podium out at the moment,
13:44Kitchen, Davies, Romano.
13:46Yeah, Joe's like, man, I've been battling this whole race,
13:49and I'm not even in the top ten.
13:51You know, that's just how deep this build and how close it is.
13:54Also, I think this track makes it a little difficult to make some passes,
13:57but nonetheless, Joe's riding good.
13:59He's just that first corner cost him.
14:03And he's all chance Hymas back there in 16th.
14:06Not what he wants.
14:07Again, he was probably in that pile as well.
14:09I would imagine from moving that far back there.
14:12It's Julian Bomair.
14:13Another solid ride for the KTM kid.
14:17Denno's still holding strong in fourth,
14:21but it looks like Bomair is closed up.
14:23Here it is.
14:25Yeah, nice move by Julian.
14:28It wasn't too much fight by Deacon,
14:29but Julian, after the strong second moto,
14:32you know he's got to feel pretty comfortable looking up,
14:34knowing that maybe Nick might fade back just a little bit.
14:37It's an opportunity for him to finish third in his moto.
14:41And Bomair is fourth overall,
14:44but closing.
14:45Oh, it worked.
14:46He's already got himself in podium position.
14:49After that pass, he's now third.
14:51That will bump Romano back,
14:52so Bomair looking for an overall podium.
14:55A lot has unfolded here in the first half of this race.
14:59Quick reminder,
15:00stock up Monster Energy at Grocery Outlet.
15:05And Bomair,
15:06I think that's actually lap traffic up ahead now
15:09with all the riders that went down earlier.
15:12I can't believe that's 58.
15:15Yeah, that's, that would be Benick.
15:16Here comes Boland challenging Denno.
15:20And Denno just inside the points.
15:22Top 20 of both motos last week.
15:25And again, when I talked to him this morning,
15:27just trying to get used to everything.
15:29This is his first pro moto cross race,
15:31expected to be better today.
15:34And he has been for sure.
15:38Yeah, I'm kind of running the same thing.
15:40Nick was happening in the first race.
15:42It's always somebody coming, so.
15:45A little difficult,
15:46but still a great ride if you can hold on to this.
15:50This is a Denno, by the way,
15:52in his breakthrough,
15:53and he won't have some X next supercross at Daytona.
15:56That really put him on the map
15:58as maybe the hot prospect of the amateur ranks.
16:03Got that win there at the world center of racing
16:06and continue to do well
16:08as those SMX next supercross races went on.
16:11The thing's coming at you in a hurry here,
16:13like you said,
16:14with Romano in that first moto,
16:15no relief ever in this class.
16:18And being in this spot,
16:19guys that race this,
16:20even though the track's a lot different,
16:22they know this soul.
16:23They've seen this kind of track conditions.
16:25Maybe Decom hasn't been in this spot,
16:27so he could have missed the bike setup.
16:29Things could have transpired
16:30between how different that first moto,
16:32as JT talked about earlier,
16:33it's night and day difference
16:34on where the bumps are
16:36and how dry and how big they are.
16:37So he struggled a little bit on the motorcycle
16:39makes it even more difficult for a rookie.
16:43As you see,
16:45DeFrancisco on the Rockstar Husqvarna,
16:46we give a little update
16:48on his teammate Cochran,
16:49who as we said,
16:50got tagged run over in the first turn.
16:53He is out the Alpine Stars medic truck.
16:55He is awake and alert.
16:56Not sure of his condition beyond that,
16:58but tough one for Casey.
17:03DeFrancisco up to six,
17:04trying to chase down Boland.
17:07Boland quietly put together
17:09a great run here at his home track.
17:12His dad and uncle,
17:14dad, Talon, Uncle Tyson,
17:16legends in this area for motocross,
17:18and he's carrying that tradition forward.
17:21There you see him up ahead in fifth.
17:35So we're trying to figure out podium math here.
17:37Bomair versus Romano.
17:42And he's closing on Romano right now.
17:44That'd be podium photo.
17:46And again, championship points wise,
17:48overalls don't matter.
17:49It's all about individual moto finish.
17:50So he's digging.
17:53Yeah.
17:55Oh, here's what's on the line.
17:56Bomair could take second overall.
17:58He could make this pass.
18:00Yeah, right now he's,
18:00he's tied with Cole Davies,
18:02but because Cole is leading,
18:04the better moto,
18:05second moto holds range in this.
18:07And so that's why they're tied.
18:08But one more pass.
18:10Jump up one more spot.
18:14Bomair has not had a moto,
18:15or sorry,
18:16an overall podium in pro motocross before.
18:19Battled for it here last year,
18:20got fourth.
18:21So he's already in podium overall position.
18:23But what about second overall?
18:25And what that means,
18:27like I said,
18:28doesn't mean anything in points,
18:29but I'm sure the bonus money's better.
18:31It could be a $20,000 swing perhaps,
18:36going from third to second.
18:38Yeah,
18:38it's a big jump.
18:39Yeah.
18:40Yeah,
18:40that's nice when you're a young guy like him.
18:42I mean,
18:42it's only his third pro season.
18:45So well done in the comeback here for Bomair.
18:49And he's starting to close on Nick as well.
18:54Looks a lot better.
18:56You know,
18:57obviously he had some rods last year before he got injured,
18:59but looks pretty consistent to me over the last three motos.
19:05Solid.
19:05You got to think he's only going to get better after being off the bike for so
19:09long and starting now to believe he belongs up here.
19:13another young guy that has a lot of talent,
19:15has won races before that will only get better and be a real threat for this
19:18championship as we continue.
19:20Yeah.
19:20Don't forget.
19:21It's not just pro motocross,
19:22everyone.
19:23You got the SMX playoffs coming up in September.
19:25Bomair was so determined to really perform well there last year,
19:29but had that crash at the opener of it.
19:34So if you're a guy like Bomair building back from injury,
19:37you could peak at the right time in September and really make a name for
19:41yourself.
19:42Closes on Romano.
19:43We've heard Nate Thrasher also was down early.
19:48He has been taken to a local hospital for observation.
19:53Man.
19:54Yeah.
19:54He's all right.
19:55Yeah,
19:55that's tough.
19:56You know,
19:57but going back to what you're saying about the playoffs,
19:59the only way Julian really,
20:01I mean,
20:01he wants to win,
20:02but the only way he believes he can is by races like this.
20:04He's got to be able to compete up there,
20:06winning some of his races to really,
20:08truly believe once you get into his playoff,
20:10a winner take all.
20:11I could go out there and win that race because I've done that before.
20:14It's a hard jump to be able to just get lucky.
20:16That doesn't happen in this sport to win a championship by being lucky.
20:20They,
20:20they have to put into work and Julian is right now.
20:24Working on Romano final stretch of this photo.
20:30Oh, Bomair is throwing down.
20:44Can he get it on the outside?
20:50Romano hanging tough.
20:52Davies has put this one away.
20:53Kitchen.
20:54It's only stretched out more.
20:55Kitchen is just going to be more than glad to settle for the overall win today
20:59with a two,
21:00two,
21:02but that's going to give Davies some momentum in this series.
21:06Yeah,
21:07nice looking good.
21:08but yeah.
21:10And as you asked me earlier with Levi,
21:12I think he did put in a couple of laps.
21:14Cole did as well.
21:16And that's when he just starts.
21:17Sorry.
21:17I'll just win this overall,
21:18make up these points.
21:23Bomair is still working.
21:26Can he get it done on Romano?
21:30Second overall up for grabs.
21:31If he can make the pass.
21:41almost.
21:44Yeah,
21:44that was a move by Julian.
21:45He wasn't actually trying to make the pass.
21:47What he was trying to do was make Nick nervous and make a mistake.
21:51Cause if he were to try to do it,
21:52they would have collided.
21:53Julian's a lot smarter than that,
21:54but they've held on and he's still in the lead.
21:57But you got to think that if Julian keeps this up,
21:59that pass is going to probably happen with all this pressure.
22:03In the bottom,
22:04is that Shimoda trying to make moves?
22:07He's trying to guess here.
22:08Yes,
22:08it is the number 30.
22:10Shimoda is 10th and Hamaker is 11th.
22:13Nope.
22:13He just made a couple of moves.
22:14That was Bumford.
22:17And Ditto could be next.
22:20Joe's rolling.
22:22Him and Seth.
22:24Top three on speed wise,
22:25but start definitely cost him.
22:27But this is what Joe does.
22:29He's going to continue to fight.
22:30And as these guys get tired,
22:32different second moto,
22:34different racetrack.
22:35These gaps are starting really closing down.
22:37Joe can make that pace,
22:38but you just got to keep strong.
22:41And he's on his way,
22:42JT.
22:43Well,
22:43guys,
22:44the math is going to get really interesting here.
22:46Now,
22:46now walk with me through this.
22:48If Bomer gets Romano,
22:49that will push him into second overall.
22:51But as we're monitoring Hamaker's progress through,
22:54he's tied in fourth.
22:55So Cole Davies,
22:56the winner of this moto,
22:57if Hamaker makes one more pass,
22:59and he's closing on Bumford,
23:00that would put Davies on the outside looking in for this podium,
23:04even with the moto win.
23:05So all of these passes down the stretch are going to determine this podium.
23:09Yes,
23:09there are the event points on the left side of your screen,
23:12everyone.
23:12And then just like last week,
23:14hardly anything in it.
23:15A three-way tie,
23:16second,
23:17third,
23:17and fourth.
23:17That is just what we saw a week ago.
23:20And then Romano's one point further back.
23:22And Shimoda is still in it.
23:24If he can make a few passes,
23:25and he's trying to do it right now,
23:27on Ditto.
23:29Yeah,
23:29Joe's rolling.
23:31And I think it's a checker flag came out.
23:33Now we would show up next week asking the same exact questions that we did this week.
23:38You really didn't get no answer.
23:39Like,
23:39Seth,
23:39rode great that first moto.
23:41Levi has some speed.
23:42Julian rode great.
23:43Had these other guys.
23:44Joe was good,
23:45but bad starts.
23:45And,
23:46yep,
23:46you end up in the same spot.
23:47So that's where we go back to the control of this 250 class.
23:50It's so wide open because of races like this and how close this class is.
23:56Yeah,
23:56it was a reset there.
23:58Had Hamaker nailed that start again,
23:59it might be a different story,
24:00but it changed in a hurry.
24:01And now they're all right back in it.
24:07So here's Romano digging deep.
24:11This guy was a top amateur prospect with that Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha operation.
24:17Actually turned to pro a little early.
24:19I believe it was 2022.
24:20It was kind of quiet,
24:21but actually effective right around the top 10 at most of the motos.
24:25He could have gone back to the Monster Energy National at the Red Lins that year,
24:28and maybe won and really made a name for himself.
24:31as he's battling with Beaumare.
24:34Beaumare makes the move.
24:35Now,
24:35the problem for Romano was the next year was injured,
24:38the next year was injured,
24:39and it really couldn't build upon what he learned in that rookie year.
24:42Moved to the Phoenix Honda team last year,
24:44injured again,
24:45barely even raced,
24:47and at one point thought maybe it was over.
24:49He's picked up this replacement ride.
24:51Now,
24:51you seem to go back a little bit in these motos,
24:53but you know
24:56that he's in catch-up mode as far as all the fitness and all the stuff he had lost
24:59without racing much in the last couple of years.
25:02He's shown he has to tell it.
25:04Beaumare makes the move.
25:06That'll move him to second overall at the moment.
25:08Hamaker is trying to make passes as well.
25:10That's the 71 of Mumford.
25:13He might salvage a podium.
25:15Yeah,
25:16Seth was the fastest guy on the track,
25:18and he's four seconds faster than Mumford in the last lap,
25:21so you would think if he can stay clean,
25:23he should have this pass down happening.
25:26And as a rider,
25:27you know,
25:27like,
25:27when you can tell when a guy's sitting up,
25:29going down the hills,
25:30your opportunity to pass is really just going down the hill,
25:32because the guy's not going to charge.
25:34Maybe he's feeling a little tired.
25:35You can charge down or into sections that Seth makes that pass,
25:39and that really just comes from a rider starting to struggle,
25:41starting to get that condition,
25:42and that puts him on the podium.
25:44And you can see that,
25:45the guy in front of you.
25:46Oh,
25:46yeah,
25:46it's a wounded duck situation right here.
25:48We can smell it out,
25:49and yeah,
25:50you kind of know just the body language.
25:52You know how these guys rot,
25:53and you can tell when the guy is starting to feel it.
25:56What this really shows,
25:57this strength from Hamaker,
26:00he finally revealed last year he'd had some physical issues
26:02that always held him back in motocross.
26:05He has colitis,
26:06and he said really it affected him most in the second moto.
26:10So to see this kind of dig two weeks in a row,
26:12I'm sure he was able to save a little energy in the first moto today,
26:16but still,
26:17this guy's showing that that problem is solved.
26:19He is strong.
26:20No,
26:20he is,
26:21and we know how tough he's always been,
26:23but what I like is that he didn't turn one mistake into two.
26:26You know,
26:27sometimes we'll have that incident,
26:28and then we'll go off,
26:29and then we'll see Seth on the side of the track,
26:31just a crazy incident,
26:32goes down.
26:33To me,
26:34it's like,
26:34yeah,
26:34he didn't get the start,
26:35obviously,
26:36but this is the same guy that we saw that first moto,
26:38really believing in himself,
26:39championship riding moment.
26:42and he has more work to do.
26:44Three minutes and two laps left.
26:46There's Ditto.
26:46If he makes one more pass,
26:48he'd be in a tie for second overall.
26:53Bomer would win the tiebreaker.
26:55The trouble is going to be going any further than that.
26:57That would require getting Shimoda,
26:59which is the tall order.
27:01Yeah,
27:01Joe is pretty far ahead,
27:02and if you remember,
27:03about five,
27:04six laps ago,
27:05these two were on the same racetrack,
27:07the same real estate.
27:08Joe is picking up the pace,
27:10but Seth probably understands he's in that podium position right now.
27:14He's a mechanic,
27:15probably tell him.
27:16There is Davies,
27:17who's going to end up,
27:19really to illustrate how tough this class is,
27:21going 11-1 for fourth overall.
27:25Now,
27:26I talked to Will Hahn,
27:27the general manager of the 250 squad,
27:30for Monster Yamaha star yesterday,
27:32and I said,
27:33how are we supposed to look at this?
27:34Are we supposed to look at this as Davies is a title contender,
27:36or is he a guy that's out here to learn?
27:39And he said,
27:39probably both.
27:40As Handmaker makes the move on Denno in the top box,
27:44one of the things they learned last week is the details matter a little bit more
27:47on the motocross side,
27:48the diet,
27:49the way you manage the day,
27:51a little more so than Supercross,
27:53and they're drilling down on that to help him.
27:56Yeah,
27:57that's another way of saying,
27:58my guy got tired on there,
27:59we got to work on it,
28:00but
28:02it kind of looked that way a little bit,
28:04that second moto last week.
28:05They're trying to button up all those things as he's learning,
28:08doesn't have a lot of pro motocross races under his belt,
28:11Davies.
28:15Levi Kitchen,
28:17looking for an overall win,
28:18that'd be two in a row for Pro Circuit,
28:20Katie has the team owner.
28:21Yeah,
28:22here with Mitch Payton,
28:23and this is a big day for your team in general,
28:25Nick Romano,
28:26but really,
28:27Seth Handmaker making some big moves up here,
28:29what are you seeing in him as a rider right now?
28:32I mean,
28:32honestly,
28:32he fell down in the first turn,
28:34so he's just got to pass as many guys as possible,
28:37because every guy you pass,
28:38you know you get another point,
28:39so now he's,
28:40like right now,
28:40he's always,
28:40I think,
28:41third,
28:42yeah,
28:43third overall.
28:44This math is a little bit difficult,
28:45we then moved to the front with Levi,
28:47how do you see him coming together as a rider today?
28:51I think both guys did really well,
28:54you know,
28:54like Levi's had some bad starts,
28:56and rode really well,
28:57and then Seth,
28:58obviously,
28:59when the first one,
28:59and then he went down,
29:00and then he went down,
29:00so like,
29:01we're just,
29:02keep going until the end,
29:03it was awesome.
29:04Yeah,
29:05it's kind of weird,
29:05what you said earlier,
29:07which is this team is coming together,
29:09and really flourishing here this season,
29:11more than we maybe have seen in years past.
29:13Yeah,
29:13this is renaissance time,
29:15Katie,
29:15you're going back,
29:16you know,
29:16this was the dominant squad,
29:17here really,
29:18I'd say the 05 to 2014 range,
29:22and then that's where Star Racing really came alive,
29:24with the Yamahas,
29:25around 2014,
29:27and there have been moments,
29:29for this team,
29:30including the 2019 championship,
29:32in this series of Steve Cerullo,
29:34but that stat,
29:35they had not led the points since then,
29:37yeah,
29:38you can really see how big a breakthrough this is.
29:39Nah,
29:40it is,
29:40and also,
29:41just even on the motorcycle,
29:42I mean,
29:42there's been Kawasaki,
29:43every moto,
29:44off the start,
29:45maybe one or two of them,
29:46off the start,
29:47and Levi,
29:48I think he'll just go back,
29:49and continue working on this technique,
29:51but clearly,
29:51they found some power,
29:53in this bike,
29:53and it's starting to show,
29:55in the 250 clash,
29:56you've got to have power,
29:58and all these bikes do,
29:59but where you put it down,
30:00Pro Circuit seems to figure that out,
30:02and the Rodders are starting to see the results,
30:03from it.
30:05Kitchen looking for the two,
30:07two scorers,
30:08to win the overall,
30:11and three to go here,
30:14and all that podium math,
30:16might be settled,
30:17Beaumair,
30:18looking at a 4-3 for second,
30:22and Hamaker at 1-9 for third,
30:25and Hamaker's lead,
30:26in the series,
30:28will be cut about in half,
30:30and a 13 point lead,
30:31it will be seven,
30:31over Kitchen now,
30:32look at Shimoda,
30:34digging,
30:35against,
30:35Di Francisco,
30:37yeah,
30:38Joe,
30:39he ain't giving up,
30:40he's going to continue,
30:41and come,
30:42and come,
30:42and he's got another guy,
30:43in front of him as well,
30:44he,
30:45saw a race in Yamaha,
30:47Moseman,
30:48yeah,
30:48Moseman,
30:49hey,
30:50didn't even notice,
30:50Moseman there,
30:51was not in those battles,
30:52this is a home track for him,
30:54he had won a moto here,
30:55a couple of years ago,
30:56Moseman,
30:57had a couple of,
30:59incidents,
31:00at the opener,
31:02Moseman's showing what he can do now,
31:04and he's going to have to dig,
31:06because Shimoda's not giving up,
31:07yeah,
31:08Joe's got the flow right now,
31:09he's coming up,
31:10leave Michael,
31:11I saw him circling around,
31:12in that first moto,
31:13last lap,
31:14almost getting lapped,
31:15so I think he went down,
31:16that first moto,
31:18yeah,
31:18he got lapped way too early,
31:19yeah,
31:20had to have gone down,
31:23Joshi again,
31:24what a start does for these guys,
31:26these guys,
31:26Michael Moseman,
31:28up there,
31:29yep,
31:30and I think what he's seen,
31:32yeah,
31:32he's 28th of moto one,
31:34the only rider,
31:36I guess you could say,
31:37Romano has pretty been consistent,
31:38on the start,
31:39Hamaker actually had a good start,
31:40in this one,
31:41he just ended up going down,
31:42but everyone else,
31:43has been all over the back,
31:45on the starts,
31:47yeah,
31:47no,
31:47I agree with that,
31:48but there's been a pro second,
31:49Kawasaki,
31:50in the top five,
31:51in every moto,
31:53so far this year,
31:56that'd be the secret sauce,
31:58if you can get better starts,
31:59consistently,
32:00that might make all the difference,
32:02two to go,
32:03Shimoda has not caught Moseman,
32:07another situation,
32:08I was saying earlier,
32:09as a rider,
32:09you kind of know,
32:11so if I'm Joe,
32:12he messes up this corner,
32:14I know that Michael's,
32:15probably starting to feel it,
32:16so you know,
32:16if you get down to inside of him,
32:18you'll out break him,
32:20quickly,
32:21she catches this guy,
32:22quickly,
32:27she catches this guy,
32:31make some passes here,
32:33I should land,
32:33if they're sideways,
32:35oh Joe,
32:36is he going to try,
32:36to make it happen to the outside,
32:39all the way up against the hay bales,
32:41yeah,
32:41he didn't want to do that,
32:42what he was trying to do,
32:43was angle the bike,
32:44so he can stop,
32:45and he probably figured,
32:45Michael was going to slam,
32:47on the brakes,
32:47as Joe still makes the pass,
32:50and square him up,
32:50but he jumped a little farther,
32:52on the outside,
32:53and he should have a pass here,
32:55relentless,
32:57is Shimoda,
32:58around Moseman,
33:00and it's just what you get,
33:02Joe,
33:02the guy just never gets tired,
33:04a lot of laps of the racing,
33:06not an issue,
33:08absolutely not,
33:10yeah,
33:10MSF,
33:11they're the fastest guys,
33:12on the track,
33:12and then Romano,
33:14third fastest,
33:15last lap,
33:19and every time,
33:20you see Shimoda,
33:21make a move,
33:22you can expect,
33:22Hamaker to eventually,
33:23get there as well,
33:25I think that's a lap rider,
33:26in front of him,
33:27the next rider,
33:28on the lead lap,
33:29would be DeFrancisco,
33:31but that's about,
33:32five seconds away,
33:33so this might have been the cap,
33:35first turn,
33:36crash tonight,
33:38for the rider,
33:39out of Pennsylvania,
33:41yeah,
33:41great ride by Sam,
33:42to still be on the podium,
33:44it kind of reminds me,
33:45of what happened,
33:45last week,
33:46to his teammate,
33:46Levi,
33:47same situation,
33:49goes down,
33:49nobody's in this guy's,
33:50league right now,
33:5210 seconds,
33:53easy work,
33:55hey,
33:55serving notice here,
33:58I talked to his dad,
34:00last week,
34:01at Fox Raceway,
34:02and he thought,
34:03it was going to take,
34:03a couple rounds,
34:04to really see,
34:05Cole move to the front,
34:07the more technical tracks,
34:08the more rutted tracks,
34:09so I'm thinking,
34:10maybe high point,
34:11when they go east,
34:12there are some ruts,
34:13depending on how they prep,
34:14next weekend,
34:16in Thunder Valley,
34:17sometimes that's,
34:17really rutted,
34:19so he figured,
34:20these first couple rounds,
34:21might be tough on his kid,
34:22but he knew,
34:23he would be a contender,
34:24later,
34:24and it didn't take that long,
34:26moto win,
34:27in route,
34:27in route two,
34:28no absolutely,
34:29and I think with Cole,
34:30I mean,
34:30the question was never,
34:31about whether,
34:32you can win these things,
34:33I mean the guy has talent,
34:34he will figure it out,
34:35he got better in supercross,
34:36but to me,
34:37from what I believe,
34:38I saw in the first moto,
34:40that obviously goes down,
34:41but he started having,
34:42the same issues,
34:43on the lap times,
34:44towards the end of the race,
34:45that first moto here today,
34:47but I believe,
34:48what's happening,
34:49what I've been talking about,
34:49all day,
34:50the relentlessness,
34:51the pressure of everyone else,
34:53you never stop,
34:54so if you're having,
34:55hold your breath,
34:56you just continue going backwards,
34:57where this moto,
34:58roughest track,
34:59roughest part of the day,
35:01second moto,
35:02and he looks like,
35:02he's just riding around,
35:04he's able to breathe,
35:05and so when he's able to breathe,
35:07these technical tracks,
35:07as you mentioned,
35:08this is where he,
35:09you know,
35:10does a really good job,
35:11and he's able to relax,
35:12and come out here,
35:13make this work,
35:13and his race look easy,
35:15and what's also impressive,
35:16a lot of tracks,
35:17that he has not raced on,
35:19before,
35:20because last year,
35:21was his rookie pro season,
35:23and he was hurt,
35:24early in the year,
35:25only got in the final two rounds,
35:27and even that,
35:27was just to score points,
35:29for the SMX playoffs,
35:30really wasn't prepared,
35:31so he is learning,
35:32and learning quickly,
35:34the teenager,
35:35out of New Zealand,
35:39and Hamaker,
35:39are you kidding me,
35:40did he erase,
35:41a five second deficit,
35:42to DeFrancisco,
35:43in one lap,
35:45yeah pretty much,
35:46I thought,
35:46if I was Seth,
35:48see what,
35:49router D does,
35:50if I close that gap,
35:51then he's going to make me,
35:52have to try to ride after him,
35:54but,
35:56yep no rest,
35:58yeah it was about,
35:58three and a half seconds,
35:59he took away on the lap,
36:00that just happened,
36:01a little more after that,
36:03and Cole Davies,
36:06not an overall win,
36:07or podium,
36:08but the 37,
36:09Cole Davies,
36:10has a moto win,
36:11at Hangtown,
36:13got the best whip,
36:14of the day off the finish line,
36:15and the overall winner,
36:18Kitchen,
36:18cooks up Hangtown,
36:20with the 2-2,
36:26Hamaker,
36:27still going for it,
36:28these guys got to be gassed,
36:30exhausted,
36:31digging deep,
36:31track is rough,
36:33Hamaker almost went down,
36:36water ground levels,
36:37are high right now,
36:38I bet they were,
36:39in the first turn as well,
36:41that's going to do it,
36:4210 not quite get to Rider D,
36:43position,
36:44in 8th place,
36:46and it's official,
36:46and it's official,
