00:00Let's go, Heat 1, 450s, Dylan Franda's got a reasonable start right in the middle of the screen, so did
00:06Justin Cooper, but how about Jorge Prado on the Red Bull KTM, he's just ahead of Chase Sexton.
00:13Jorge's been nailing those starts all year long and a great run through the whoops section right there Ricky.
00:19Yeah, I mean, he has been fantastic, he's always been a great starter his whole career, especially getting back onto
00:25this Red Bull factory KTM machine and I think outside of his starts and his riding, I would say overall
00:32his whoop performance compared to last year has been super, super impressive.
00:38Had a coming together with Cooper Webb last weekend in Denver and he just said, well, I don't really take
00:46any of that responsibility, it was kind of Cooper Webb ran into me and he didn't shy away from that
00:51statement, he's ready to race again and it's good to see him get yet another, it's kind of crazy to
00:57talk about building when you talk about a multiple time motocross world champion, but he is, he's still in the
01:03building phase of the supercross side of his career.
01:06Yeah, and it's so different from where he came from and even just the, obviously the format, the time, all
01:12the jumps, but man, he is really elevated.
01:15There was a lot of pressure on Jorge coming into this season, you know, switching from Kawasaki last year, going
01:20to KTM, really put all of it on himself and he has really performed this year.
01:26100% I'll tell you, I didn't anticipate him doing as well as he did because as he was putting
01:32all that pressure on yourself, as you know, James, I mean, that's tough to do.
01:36Especially at this level and another thing, remember, he got hurt and then he came back and still was super
01:42impressive, like he never missed a race.
01:44Yeah, nice, he's been solid.
01:47Missed two races, he's 10th in points, got Chase Exton all over him.
01:51So for the guys who aren't in this championship fight, the likes of the ones we're seeing on screen right
01:56here, what is the goal tonight in addition to trying to win the main event?
02:01Just finished the Supercross portion of the year on the highest possible note.
02:05Oh, that was close with Jorge trying to get over that sand.
02:07No, I actually think there's still a lot of motivation for a guy like Jorge and Chase Exton, my brother,
02:14you know, but particularly these two, because they do feel like this pro motocross that's going to start in a
02:19couple of weeks, that they'll be a championship contender for that.
02:22And then so I know they got 94, 96, those two going for the championship, but at the same time,
02:27I think those guys are really here to play.
02:30There's a lot to race for if you, those two guys.
02:32A hundred percent guys that could possibly get their first win, like the man you're watching right now, number 32,
02:39Justin Cooper, plenty capable of coming out and winning here tonight.
02:43He's been so close so many times, he's had good speed and it's just came up a bit short.
02:51Yeah, I'd like to see the Justin, he's been getting better and better.
02:55And it always seems like you get to these hard pack racetracks, I talked about this, you know, last year,
03:00a little bit, I'm doing outdoors, but just the way his bike's set up, necessarily more of a private tier.
03:04They don't have some of the factory stuff, which makes their bike closer to stock, which makes it a little
03:08bit softer.
03:09And I think that really helps a guy like Justin Cooper, because clearly, clearly, excuse me, when you watch him
03:15go through the whoops and compare it to these guys, his bike's a little bit more compliant.
03:19It looks good out there.
03:20Getting a little more spicy at the front here.
03:22Chase Sexton has closed that gap to Jorge Prado.
03:25Yeah, he's reeling it in.
03:26It looks like the 26 of Prado has been getting a little bit of wheel spin there in the whoops,
03:32JT.
03:33Yeah, and just, you know, it is really slippery, to your point, but watching Chase Sexton here, let's keep in
03:38mind, this guy has won this race three years in a row.
03:41Now, there's no Chase Sexton coming in, but these races often have surprise winners because there's so much pressure on
03:48the leaders that a guy we're not thinking about comes in and tries to win, and he's trying to win
03:51this heat race, boys.
03:52Look at this, inside move with authority from Chase Sexton to the lead.
03:57Prado tries to respond, but simply cannot.
04:00I'm going to tell you what, that was a pretty good pass there by the four, and 26 can definitely
04:06ride a wide bike, and if he gets a whole shot in that main event, you better keep your eyes
04:11on him, because I think that, and I hope this isn't the case, but he can play a part in
04:16maybe what goes down.
04:18Great job by the number four, though, of Chase Sexton to make that pass perfectly up the inside, anticipating Jorge
04:26closing the door.
04:27And look, when we talk about in this final race of the Supercross portion of the season, what is there
04:32to race for?
04:33Well, for Chase Sexton, Team Kawasaki, there's still a lot to work for because he's been working and trying harder,
04:40the team's been working and trying harder just to try and find, James, that perfect balance.
04:44Yeah, no, absolutely, and I think that pass by Jorge kind of told you that, and at the same time,
04:49these two guys switched teams.
04:51You know, Jorge was on that Kawasaki, that's what Chase is on, and Chase is on that KTM, so there's
04:55probably a little bit more motivation seeing that happen, but good to see the number four.
05:00Still a great ride by Jorge, and now he's got to deal with Justin Cooper if he closes up a
05:05little bit.
05:14Jorge puttin' in some good, oh, makes a mistake, that's gonna help Cooper, watch Justin Cooper, he's elected to start
05:20jumping through the whoops, probably a good play right now because of how slick they are, pole disposition, he's able
05:27to work through that inside right there, Justin's made up a lot of time on these, certainly on Prado.
05:35Sexton's starting to pull away here.
05:38Yeah, I think that jumping's probably gonna come into play because those whoops look more challenging now for all these
05:44guys, it's really slippery.
05:46And I think the cutoff point, I say the cutoff point, the breaking point to where you do glitz or
05:52you do jump is going to be dependent upon the drive that you can get through there.
05:56If they get slick like we're telling you right now, it's probably going to be best to jump because you're
06:01going to get better drive through there.
06:04So we're inside the last two laps now, Chase Sexton, as JT mentioned earlier, has won the last three years
06:11here in Salt Lake City.
06:13Well, let's see if this trend continues for Chase Sexton because he won three heats in a row, he's out
06:18in front here, that'll make four heats in a row here in Salt Lake City,
06:21and the previous three have all led to those wins, so great start to the day for Chase Sexton so
06:26far.
06:27I think James right there, that was great that we were able to see both Jorge Blitz and Justin Cooper
06:32jump.
06:33You got a perspective of which is faster, and right now I do think that Blitzing is just maybe half
06:38a bike link quicker.
06:39Yeah, no, I agree with you.
06:41Jorge switched his lineup.
06:42He went down to inside, and the reason why I think he got a good run is because not a
06:45lot of people going through there.
06:47And you probably only can get there through that side of the section in a 450 compared to the 250.
06:52You don't have enough power.
06:54Nonetheless, good run.
06:56Good to see the number four.
06:57He's been looking pretty good all day.
06:58He's gotten better in his last few races, and I'm sure this is going to help him out for that
07:02main event.
07:02Yeah, sure it is.
07:04Through the sand section for the final time, and this will be the third heat win of the year for
07:09Chase Sexton.
07:13Almost there.
07:15Nicely done.
07:16Yep, just like that.
07:17Had to work hard to get by Jorge Prado, who rode very well to second, just ahead of Justin Cooper.
07:23But nice heat win to Kawasaki's Chase Sexton.
07:27Coming up, the two guys...
