The King of SLC does it again! Eli Tomac just raised the bar even higher in the second 450 qualifying session, dropping a massive 49.066s lap time. He was already the fastest in session 1, but this improvement proves ET3 is locked in for the night show.
While the track is getting rougher and more technical, Tomac seems to be finding even more traction and speed where others are struggling. With the 2026 season finale on the line, is there anyone who can stop the #3 Yamaha tonight?

00:00Championship rival, the 96th of Hunter Lawrence.
00:03Starts right now.
00:04Want to get off to a good start here in the practice start.
00:08We're at elevation a little bit less than last weekend,
00:10but all three of those guys, Jorge Prado,
00:13throw Cooper Webb in there as well.
00:15Hunter Lawrence, Ken Roxton, they know how to get out of the gate.
00:18Yeah, this is going to be fun to watch.
00:20There's a lot of confidence that can be taken from this start right here.
00:24Do you start in first gear?
00:26Do you start in second gear here at altitude?
00:32Jorge Prado up the inside right there.
00:35Hunter Lawrence squeaks around the inside of him.
00:37Cooper Webb up there as well, the 94, Ken Roxton up there.
00:43And he didn't really – he shut it down pretty early going into the first corner last weekend,
00:49but Hunter Lawrence's jump out of the gate about halfway down the start straight,
00:53his back tire was in front of everybody else's front tire.
00:58So, Hunter Lawrence, he knows whatever the package that they have at altitude over at Honda,
01:03whatever they've done to this motorcycle, it's working.
01:06How about this guy in 2026?
01:08Been so impressed with Jorge Prado all season long.
01:11Missed a couple races there midway through with an injury,
01:14but came back, finished up pretty much right where he left off with some great results.
01:20Fastest in qualifying a couple times this season.
01:22Impressive in the whoops.
01:23I'm really, really excited to see what he can do in pro motocross here in just a few weeks.
01:28Oh, me too.
01:28I think everyone collectively across the board after a tough, very tough 2025
01:34has been impressed of what Jorge has been able to do.
01:38Look no further than that section right there.
01:41I mean, picture perfect.
01:42He looks like he's been doing it for 10 years going through the whoops.
01:45Has the toes pointed in, the head over the bars, in the right spot of the power.
01:50His starts are fantastic, still needs to find a little bit more speed
01:54to kind of be consistently inside that top five and on the podium.
01:58But with his talent level, you just have this feeling, this sense that he's going to figure it out.
02:03Ken Roxton going on a fast one right here.
02:05He was sixth overall to 50.1.
02:08Let's go down trackside to Haley.
02:11I have found a very special woman down here.
02:14She's watching her husband on track, Courtney Roxton.
02:16Courtney, okay, for the press, we have asked Ken where he's at, championship day.
02:21Where are you at right now?
02:22What's the heart rate at?
02:23Man, I'm at like a 9.5.
02:25You know, the nerves are just, they're high.
02:28But, you know, if anything, it's just exciting to be here.
02:30We haven't been here in five years to be able to finish out a season.
02:34And it's just really cool to see it come down to this race.
02:37And, you know, what better two representatives of our sport to be taking it to the end?
02:41Well said.
02:42You know, you have been, you and Ken have been side by side through the peaks and valleys of his
02:47career.
02:47You've been right there.
02:48So, of this season, we've seen what he's accomplished.
02:50But from your perspective, what of him are you most proud of this year?
02:54Just not giving in to, you know, all of the hardships that he's had.
02:59The fight has been there weekend after weekend, year after year, and just, you know, really not giving up on
03:05himself.
03:05You know, he's had such a string of bad luck, I'll say.
03:09But, you know, he's always back at it.
03:12Lastly, I want to ask you, St. Jude, you and Ken and the team have been a big part of
03:17the Love Moto Stop Cancer campaign.
03:19How proud are you to be able to give back in such a massive way this year?
03:22Man, to be able to, you know, thanks to the fans, be able to earn $300,000 for St. Jude.
03:28What an opportunity it is to give back to the kids and, you know, really try and do some good.
03:33Thank you so much for your time, Courtney Roxen.
03:35I'm going to let you get back to watch.
03:37And I know the boys are here, too.
03:38We appreciate you.
03:39Courtney Roxen.
03:40And also, fun fact, she's from St. George, Utah.
03:42And her and Ken actually got married here at Zion.
03:45So, Utah is a special place to the Roxens.
03:48Thank you, Haley.
03:49Always great to hear from Courtney.
03:50A huge part of Ken's program behind the scenes.
03:53Of course, wives probably don't get enough credit dealing with these racers during the week from Monday to Friday.
04:00Oh, they're full-time therapists.
04:02I know you know this, J.B., your own experience.
04:05Shout-out to Paige Brayton as well.
04:09Having to deal with you most of your career.
04:11I know it.
04:12I know it.
04:14Eli Tomac fastest earlier here today with a 49.4.
04:18It looked like the track crew did a couple, did some work on a couple of the turns.
04:22But I'm really curious if it ends up being faster as Justin Hill answers that question straight to the top
04:27of the 49.1.
04:30Justin Hill once again late in the season.
04:34Impressive.
04:35Impressive work from Justin Hill.
04:38And like I mentioned earlier, last time, Justin Hill was on the podium at this level.
04:44Salt Lake City, 2023.
04:46So, I don't know.
04:47We also saw a great ride from him this year inside a podium position for most of the race in
04:53Nashville.
04:54So, I'm not sure if he's just agreeing with these hard pack conditions or what.
04:58As Eli Tomac goes to second in this session behind Justin Hill.
05:03Justin Hill, 49.1.
05:06Eli Tomac, 49.7.
05:08As Cooper Webb crosses the finish line as well.
05:11Hunter Lawrence going to that line.
05:12Seems like a lot of these 450 guys now going to the right side there.
05:15Wheeling over that little single and tripling into the turn.
05:18Whoops are drying out.
05:19You can tell a little side to side right there.
05:21And you saw you didn't see the same kind of forward drive from Hunter there.
05:25He got about four or five whoops in and kind of started to get that teeter-totter from the front
05:30wheel to the back wheel.
05:33It's very difficult right now because there's just not a lot of traction in those whoops.
05:37So, you're totally reliant on how much speed you can carry in.
05:41Well, here they are.
05:42Your championship one and two.
05:43Ken Rockson, one point over Hunter Lawrence.
05:45They're both going for fast laps right now.
05:47Hunter's third.
05:48Ken Rockson is down in ninth with a 50.1.
05:51Let's see how he goes through the whoops.
05:53Bottom right-hand side of your screen.
05:56Gets right on top.
05:57Perfect technique for the 94.
05:58That was a good pass.
05:59Doesn't get any better than that.
06:00Perfectly level, had a good amount of forward drive.
06:04And he was able to stay low in the corner as well.
06:07Let's see what this time is for Kenny.
06:09Goes across the finish line.
06:11Jumps up to eight with a 49.9.
06:16It's Hunter Lawrence.
06:17Last turn right here.
06:18Let's see if he can better his 49.6.
06:24Hunter Lawrence that last time around 50.2.
06:27So, Justin Hill on top.
06:29Chase Sexton, 49.2.
06:31Those lap times are fast.
06:32But look at 49s all the way down to Dylan Ferrantes in ninth place right now.
06:37It is tight out there.
06:40See Hill setting up a fast lap.
06:42Let's see if he's doing anything different.
06:43Justin Hill can get very creative on these tracks out here doing different rhythm.
07:03And right now, but sitting at the top of the board here, 49.1, that would be huge for Justin
07:10Hill to qualify fastest in this day.
07:13Once again, we continue to talk about who else could get in the mix.
07:16Cooper Webb's one of them.
07:17Absolutely.
07:18Could Justin Hill get a podium like he did here in 2023?
07:20He qualified third that night as well.
07:23So, he had a lot of speed.
07:24Chase Sexton wants to end his Supercross season on a high note.
07:28Yeah, I like what I'm seeing from Chase.
07:31I think that a big problem so far this season for Chase is that comfort in the middle of the
07:37turn on lean angle.
07:38Just knowing what the front end is going to do.
07:41And that's a perfect example of what you just saw on your screen.
07:44He looks very fluid.
07:46Doesn't have that pause in the middle of his turn.
07:48I'm interested to see how well he's able to go through the whoops.
07:52If this was a fashion show, Chase Sexton would win nearly every weekend.
07:58I agree.
07:59I agree with you.
07:59The Alpine Star kits are almost always just so clean.
08:04And even when they go really bright, colorful, it still looks clean somehow.
08:09But Chase Sexton, perfect through the whoops and the sand right there.
08:13He looks so much more comfortable even coming out of that turn right there, picking up the front wheel, setting
08:18it down.
08:19Just all those little things tell me he is feeling it.
08:21Well, Chase has had a lot of success here in Salt Lake City.
08:24He's a four-time fast qualifier.
08:2521, 23, 2024, and last year in 2025.
08:30So, had a lot of success here.
08:32Can he continue that success as Justin Hill looks like?
08:35He's on a fast one right here.
08:36Can he better?
08:36It's 49.1.
08:39Coming across the finish line.
08:41Let's see what he does.
08:42Nice little whip right there.
08:4549.9.
08:45So, still pretty fast in the 49s.
08:47Yeah, good backup time.
08:48Before that, his second fastest lap, I believe, was like a 50.3.
08:52So, backup time on the same second.
08:54That counts as backing it up.
08:57Kenny's a 49.9.
08:58He goes to 49.8.
09:00That's going to put him in ninth right there.
09:03Haley, the 94, one-point lead in this championship.
09:06This is going to be exciting.
09:07Oh, this is so good.
09:09Ken Rockson, you know, you were just talking a moment ago about the lit kits, if you will.
09:13Well, look at this one.
09:14And, guys, that looks familiar.
09:15I'm thinking 2011 throwback kit.
09:18We like to see that.
09:21Absolutely.
09:22Fox doing a great job with that 2011 tribute right there.
09:26I will say, Ken Rockson here at the bottom of the top ten, he has proven that he's a guy
09:31that doesn't have to be fast in qualifying to go out there and win the main event and perform well.
09:37But, as you said earlier, there's a lot of times this year he's qualified fast, kind of on accident.
09:42So, right now, a little bit lower on the board than he would like to be.
09:46I know he would like to just be a little bit more, a little bit closer to the lead going
09:52into the main event, especially with everything on the line.
09:55I'll put the aggression from the four in Chase Sexton.
09:57He's looking extremely fast right here.
09:59Let's see what he does through the loops.
10:01He's second with a 49.2.
10:03We saw he get a little kick there.
10:09Got to be frustrating if you throw down a great lap and then in the sand with two turns to
10:15go.
10:15You make just a little mistake.
10:16There's so much time to be made up through that sand section.
10:19That last lap around for Chase is a 49.2 as well.
10:24So, that's his fastest lap of the day.
10:26He did two of the same lap times, 49.253.
10:33It's hard to do.
10:34That is really hard to do.
10:35Hunter Lawrence, let's see if he can better his time.
10:37He's in fourth right now with a 49.6.
10:40He does.
10:41He goes a second, 49.1.
10:44Very, very close to the lead of Justin Hill.
10:46You see Ken searching for lines a little bit right there in the sand.
10:50Was coming in a little bit further on the inside.
10:52Goes outside, trying to find a little bit of traction.
10:56Still, only a 50.0 for Ken.
11:00So, the speed not coming easy today for the 94.
11:05Once again, we continue to talk about the narratives.
11:10The narratives of the championship.
11:11Also, the narratives of Tomac does a different line right there.
11:14But also, there's so much to prove for the other guys.
11:16Tomac wants to end on top, just like he started 2026.
11:20Justin Hill has a lot to prove.
11:21Chase Sexton wants to end on a high note, going into pro motocross.
11:25Cooper Webb wants to remind everybody there's a three-time Supercross champion.
11:29There's so much to race for, for each and every guy out on track.
11:32And I didn't see the beginning of this lap.
11:34But everything I've seen on screen from Tomac says this could go to the front.
11:39Great call.
11:40Eli Tomac to the top.
11:42Ladies and gentlemen, 49.0 on that Red Bull KTM.
11:47And we got a little crowd reaction out of that one, JB.
11:51The fans are happy to see the three back on track.
11:56Malcolm Stewart coming across the line.
11:58He jumps up to the top five.
11:59He's a 49.5.
12:01Wow.
12:01These guys continue to throw down.
12:03Look how fast Justin Cooper is going right now.
12:07Jay Coop's in seventh.
12:08Let's see what he does through the whoops right now.
12:10First guy all day long to jump through.
12:13And that looked pretty good.
12:14It did look really good.
12:16And I can't even express.
12:17I do not have the vocabulary to describe how difficult that is.
12:22He makes it look very easy.
12:23But jumping through a steep set of whoops like that is not easy.
12:27He goes to the top five.
12:2849.2.
12:29And look how tight it is.
12:32Folks, 49.0 to a 49.9 for Dylan Ferrantes in tenth place.
12:37The top ten are absolutely rolling here today in Salt Lake City.
12:41And I got to say, Hunter Lawrence has stepped up in the whoops today.
12:45These are not easy at all.
12:47He's had a couple mistakes there in the past six weeks or so.
12:51And I really love what he's been able to do through that section of the track today.
12:55One of the best guys.
12:56Checkered flag comes out.
12:58Tomac's fastest.
12:59Kenny's on a decent one right now.
13:01Doesn't get quite the drive through the whoops.
13:03Let's see what he does here through the sand.
13:05This is going to be his final time.
13:06Makes a mistake through the sand.
13:07That's going to do it for Ken Rockson's time.
13:09Looks like he's going to end up ninth with that 49.8.
13:12On the same second as the leader.
13:13But Eli Tomac.
13:17Still a couple guys on fast laps out there.
13:19But can he be fastest once again?
13:2349.0.
13:24There he is.
13:25Eli Tomac is going to end up your fastest qualifier here today once again.
