00:00Hunter et Jett, avec Deegan juste sur l'inside.
00:03Here it is, revs her up.
00:05Gets down.
00:13Cooper Webb, from down to the first turn,
00:16to a hole shot off the restart.
00:18Jett and Hunter right behind him.
00:20That is Cooper Webb right there,
00:22like down on the first corner.
00:23Jett tries to slide up the inside, makes that move.
00:25But last guy on the first lap before the restart
00:28and hole shots his moto, Cooper Webb.
00:31Rolls the reverse for Hunter Lawrence now.
00:34Jett Lawrence is out front now.
00:36Hunter Lawrence, I've got to get around Cooper Webb
00:37if I want to make a pass on Jett Lawrence.
00:40At least keep him in sight.
00:41Not sure where Hayden Deegan is.
00:43Yeah, good start for the Ducatis.
00:45Both Barsha and Ferrandez coming through next
00:47as Hunter trying to work Webb over it.
00:49It's roll reversal, like you said,
00:51with the brothers on the restart.
00:53Yeah, you can see Jett Lawrence is already trying to put out.
00:56Now, if you watch the body language in that first one
00:57before the restart, he was looking back.
01:00He was trying to put that gap in there
01:01because he knows how strong his brother is.
01:03Hunter Lawrence goes past Cooper Webb.
01:06Picks the bike up.
01:07Wheelies down the downhill.
01:08Look at Webb fighting back.
01:09The three-time Supercross champion
01:12not messing around here in motocross.
01:15Yeah, he was able to get past him,
01:16but Cooper had a better line on that outside.
01:18So he had that momentum
01:20as Hunter Lawrence slides up the inside of him now.
01:23So the Lawrence is 1-2.
01:26Barsha, Sexton, Ferrandez, Tondal,
01:29Hampshire, Marchbanks, Deegan top 10.
01:33All right, here we go.
01:36Nice line by Hunter right there.
01:40So the damage in lap one, 1.4 seconds.
01:43The distance between the brothers.
01:45Hunter already starting to close back up.
01:47Yeah, he knows.
01:48Like, he saw what happened that first race
01:50with Jett Lawrence being out front,
01:52and he knows how good his brother is.
01:53And if anybody knows how he's feeling,
01:55Hunter does that.
01:56So see if he has the same tendencies
02:00what he had last year.
02:01Last year, he was trying to apply the pressure,
02:03but he would kind of let Jett settle in.
02:05And I believe Hunter is a different rider.
02:07So if I'm him, we're going to keep it clean.
02:09But I want to attack my brother right now.
02:11I want to be in front of him.
02:12I feel like if I can,
02:13probably the fitness is more on my side.
02:16I've been racing all year,
02:17but I got to get in front of him to number one.
02:21And they're quickly rolling away
02:23from everyone else.
02:24Chase Sexton, 2024 champ.
02:27Another good start on the monster Kawasaki.
02:29He's battling Webb for third.
02:32Yeah, that's good for Chase.
02:33He actually was a little bit farther down,
02:34so he's made some passes early in the race.
02:37Good for him.
02:39Let's see if he can pull up.
02:41I believe Cooper Webb,
02:42if he gets close up,
02:42probably won't fight him too hard,
02:44but we'll find out, JT.
02:45Yeah, and this is good to see from Chase Sexton.
02:47You know, he was third on that first start
02:49before the red flag,
02:50and I was like, oh,
02:50that is so how it's gone for Chase Sexton lately.
02:53He gets a red flag once he finally gets a good start,
02:56but he rebounded here,
02:57he gets another good start,
02:58and that first moto did not go to plan.
03:00Heard reports that he was not very excited about it
03:02after the first moto,
03:03so this is an opportunity
03:04to kind of turn the tide
03:05and get things going back the right direction.
03:07Well, JT, it was interesting.
03:09Right before that restart,
03:10I had made a mention to someone
03:11that Chase Hunter and Jet
03:12all looked so cool, calm, and collected
03:14as though they weren't ruffled at all,
03:16and it's interesting now that Chase is up to fourth.
03:18They also had a great week of testing in California.
03:21They found a little something for him,
03:22fine-tune that suspension for some extra comfort,
03:25but they also got that front end better on angle for him,
03:27and that was really important with the bike,
03:29this bike specifically for him to be more comfortable on.
03:33Well, thanks, Katie.
03:34Shows right now, he just made the move on web,
03:37so Sexton is up to third,
03:39but already about four seconds back.
03:42Yeah, if I'm Chase Sexton,
03:43if I'm struggling with the motorcycle,
03:45it's almost a dangerous spot to be in
03:47because you know Jet Lawrence is right there,
03:50and if you feel uncomfortable,
03:51it's hard not to want to push for those guys.
03:54you're going to have to push and stay in that top three.
04:01Motorcycle, it's almost a dangerous spot to be in
04:03because you know Jet Lawrence is right there,
04:06but it's good to see him up here fighting,
04:08and this is Hayde Deegan running down,
04:10closed off by Hunter Lawrence,
04:11but see where he goes to work.
04:18Hype, because that's what the Deegan family does.
04:20They're not afraid to hype it up.
04:23Solid at the first photo,
04:24battled Hunter Lawrence for most...
04:29...for second, ended up third,
04:30a little bit worse start here.
04:33But he's about to put these two Ducatis
04:35into what he calls a danger zone as he closes...
04:40...but this 450 is a different motorcycle,
04:42and I believe a lot of that comes down to
04:44how he finishes.
04:46It's going to be how he works on the motorcycle.
04:47Does he make it better?
04:51Better, you've got to improve the bike
04:53to be competitive in this 450 class.
04:55We'll see if Todd DeSar Racing Yamaha
04:57is going to work on it too.
05:09...improved massively
05:09since their first Pro Motocross race last week,
05:14but I don't know if it's enough to hold Deegan off.
05:17Yeah, Hayden's got some lines.
05:18Now, we heard RJ say earlier
05:21that he was kind of upset
05:22with the Hayden Deegan getting around.
05:23He wanted to get him.
05:25I believe right now,
05:26Hayden makes that pass with Dylan.
05:28I'm interested to see
05:29how the other riders race him.
05:30Do they try to really ride him in their hearts
05:32since he's a rookie?
05:33They want to beat him,
05:34and Hayden's doing a good job
05:36of just going past Dylan,
05:37but I'm sure Dylan will try to fight back if he can.
05:43Oh, good battle right here.
05:46Barsha said they changed the bike
05:48completely in one week.
05:50Definitely better, I can tell you that,
05:52but still not enough.
05:54Deegan runs him
05:55almost into the mechanics area.
05:56Be careful.
05:57That's Bam Bam and Danger Boy.
05:59I think this is a battle people wanted to see.
06:01Yeah, too aggressive riders.
06:02I wanted to see as well.
06:03Nice save by Hayden.
06:04There's a front-end rebounder out there.
06:06A little Willie save,
06:07but yeah, for him,
06:09I don't even think Justin realized
06:10Hayden was even that close
06:11because he went outside,
06:12and we know Justin doesn't let anybody
06:13go around him, so.
06:15Deegan looks a little bit more aggressive,
06:17this moto.
06:18They shall meet again.
06:19Don't worry.
06:20Deegan now trying to make tracks toward Webb.
06:23That'd be fourth.
06:27Yeah, Chase Sexton
06:28right in front of him,
06:30but not too far.
06:36Good line by Hayden right there.
06:38It's not the fastest,
06:39but it's pretty consistent
06:40and be smoother.
06:41End up being faster towards
06:42under this race for sure.
06:44So these are the teammates
06:46of the Monster
06:47Yamaha Star Racing Machines.
06:50Oh, Hunter,
06:51here thing,
06:52in check.
06:54A little different line
06:55by Jeb right there.
06:59Chase has ran off the track
07:00twice on his lap.
07:02Oh, really?
07:03the job going downhill,
07:05he was off the racetrack
07:06and then he was just off the track
07:07again right here.
07:07Then when they see the track,
07:09they know what lines are there.
07:11And then this is the guy
07:12trying to start moving.
07:13He's been turning with whoops.
07:15Yeah,
07:16it was smooth at the beginning of the day.
07:17That's how much rougher
07:18this track has gotten.
07:19Jet has turned it up.
07:21157.0.
07:22It's actually two tenths quicker
07:23than Hunter
07:24the last time around.
07:26His two best laps
07:27have been his last two laps.
07:29See if the 96
07:31can respond to that.
07:33Now,
07:35figure out how this goes.
07:37Katie.
07:38Looking at the number 96,
07:39it reminds me of a conversation
07:40that I had with him
07:41and he said
07:42his success
07:43over the course of his career,
07:44he feels it's a bit
07:45of a snowball effect.
07:46He said,
07:47knock on wood,
07:47I haven't had those major injuries.
07:49I've had momentum.
07:50I've kept training
07:52all the way since 2021.
07:53He said he's been
07:54plugging away
07:55and slowly building.
07:56So as we've talked
07:57about Hunter Lawrence
07:58here this last year or so,
08:00it's really been
08:01a building process for him
08:03and he's recognized it,
08:05especially since
08:05he kind of looked back
08:06at 2020
08:07when he was going to walk away.
08:08He thought in the sport
08:09he was going to walk away.
08:10So it's all been
08:11a building process since then.
08:14All right, guys,
08:15I'm watching this battle.
08:16James,
08:16I'm curious in your opinion on this.
08:18I could see a scenario
08:19where Jet lets Hunter by here
08:20and I know that sounds crazy.
08:22Jet's multi-time champion,
08:23one of the best riders
08:24I've ever seen.
08:25But I just wonder
08:26if Hunter really starts
08:27to apply some pressure here,
08:28how willing is Jet to push?
08:30And how I got to that
08:32was on those early laps,
08:33like Jet looking
08:34behind him immediately.
08:36That's not a positive sign
08:37as far as him wanting
08:38to go chase Hunter down
08:39in that opening lap.
08:40So I just wonder
08:41how much he has left
08:42to give here in Moto2.
08:43No, I agree.
08:43I was going to say that
08:44and I think what we're
08:45going to find out,
08:46Jet's going to find out as well,
08:48is the difference
08:49between Hunter Lawrence
08:49last year and this year.
08:50and what we witnessed
08:51during the Supercross,
08:53Hunter's been in this spot
08:54a bunch of times this year.
08:55When he needed to win,
08:56he just won
08:57and kind of looked like
08:58he did with Hayde Deegan
08:59in that first race
08:59so he can close that gap.
09:01And so I don't know
09:01if it's more Jet letting him by
09:03or Jet might not be able
09:04to keep him behind him anyway.
09:06But we're going to find out.
09:07Good response by Jet here,
09:08but Hunter looks like
09:10he can do this pretty easy
09:11and Tom would tell
09:12how quickly he closes up
09:14as Jet takes a look back.
09:16And again,
09:17coming back from injury,
09:18maybe isn't quite there
09:20on the roughest part of the day
09:22to hold his brother off
09:24all the way to the end.
09:25You're saying
09:25it might not even be a choice.
09:26He might just not be able to
09:28whether he wants to or not.
09:29Because Hunter's riding well,
09:30no doubt.
09:31I mean, Jet's riding fine.
09:32They got 10 seconds
09:33over Chase Sexton
09:34and Hayden Deegan behind him.
09:36So it's not like Jet's slow,
09:37but I think the pace
09:38from Hunter Lawrence
09:38and just the difference to me,
09:41it looks easy
09:41and these next couple laps
09:43is going to tell the tale.
09:44I believe if Hunter gets on him,
09:45puts that pressure,
09:47Jet probably will let him by
09:48and then Hunter can ride off
09:49in the sunset at least
09:50and try to.
09:51Deegan has made the move on Webb.
09:53He's fourth.
09:54About two seconds off
09:56of Sexton for third.
09:57So that will be something
09:58to watch as well.
10:01Right now,
10:01it's all about the brothers.
10:03Lawrence is looking
10:03to regain control
10:05like they were last year.
10:07one-two in the series.
10:08There's Deegan
10:09in the bottom box
10:10trying to get Sexton.
10:12Yeah, Hayden's starting
10:13to close that gap.
10:14He's got around Cooper Webb
10:15and as I said earlier,
10:17JT.
10:19Yeah, I just had an opportunity
10:20to speak to Johnny O'Meara
10:22and I kind of ran
10:22my hypothesis by him
10:24of, hey,
10:24do you think Jet
10:25might let him by?
10:25And Johnny's like,
10:26no way.
10:27Nope.
10:27Not going to let him do it.
10:29He's like,
10:29you know,
10:30this is the dynamic
10:31every day
10:32for them practicing.
10:33They go back and forth
10:34and they one-up each other
10:36all the time
10:36and they're so competitive
10:37but that's what drives them.
10:39And he's like,
10:40I just don't see it
10:41unless Jet simply has to.
10:43There's just no way
10:43he's willing to,
10:44willingly going to.
10:46Yeah,
10:46kind of back to my point.
10:47I don't think he wants to,
10:49but he might not be able
10:50to hold him back.
10:50But just like that first moto,
10:52if Jet sits here
10:54and he starts getting comfortable
10:55and you're starting to notice
10:56those little gaps,
10:57he'll start picking away
10:57around the racetrack
10:59and the thing with
10:59rotters like Jet Lawrence,
11:01they're so talented.
11:02Even if there is a problem,
11:03he'll figure out
11:04how to ride around it.
11:05The thing with Hunter Lawrence,
11:06he can't let him figure
11:07that problem out.
11:08So it'd be a big move for him
11:10and as much as Jet
11:11doesn't want Hunter to beat him,
11:13I feel like Hunter
11:14is in that same spot as well.
11:15You don't want your younger brother
11:17coming back from injury
11:18and basically doing what he's been doing
11:20the last two years to you as well,
11:22not only for today
11:23but for this championship as well.
11:24It's true.
11:25We're so deep into the everyone
11:27seeing where they are
11:29thing at the first round or two
11:30that you could suddenly
11:31see this championship
11:34zeroing in very quickly
11:35on these two
11:36and it would be absolutely massive
11:38if Jet could hold his brother off
11:40even while working
11:42his way back from injury.
11:43So there's some urgency
11:44for the 96
11:45to not let that happen
11:46and you can see it right now.
11:50Well, Deegan just went by sixth
11:51and easy for third.
11:53Thought we're going to have
11:54a battle materializing there.
11:56So Deegan's third
11:57and here comes Hunter.
12:01Yeah, Hunter's on him right now
12:03and he knows that.
12:04Jet takes a look back
12:05going to see the 96 ain't there
12:06because he's a little bit farther
12:07on the inside.
12:08Hunter knows that far.
12:09So I believe the move is coming.
12:24I remember their battles
12:25back in the 250 days
12:26when they were the up-and-comers
12:28in the sport.
12:29Hunter said it so well
12:30it's like the Velociraptors
12:32in Jurassic Park.
12:33I learn, he learns,
12:34I learn, he learns.
12:35Every lap they learn
12:37from each other
12:37and just keep getting
12:38better and better.
12:39Yeah, and that's what
12:39makes it difficult
12:40and people wonder why
12:41these two have been
12:42so dominant
12:43the last couple of years
12:45because they run together
12:47as Hunter runs
12:48off the racetrack.
12:50Now, we noticed that
12:51Haydeegan was able
12:51to get around
12:52Chase Sexton.
12:53Chase is going to
12:54overjump this,
12:55mix the inside
12:56and, yeah,
12:57basically kind of
12:57just lets him go.
12:58As I said earlier,
13:00Chase is in a hard spot
13:00because he wants
13:01to go out to the two
13:02in front of him
13:03and he doesn't have
13:04that pace.
13:05It's a hard race
13:05for Chase to be in.
13:06Haydeegan was coming.
13:08Chase had to let him by.
13:13Now, to me,
13:14it seems like Jet
13:15is a little bit quicker
13:16than Hunter
13:17on the longer part
13:18of the race section.
13:19So the longer sections,
13:20he's a little bit quicker
13:21than him.
13:22Anywhere where there's
13:23a short speed
13:24or where the G-forces
13:25has really come down
13:26like some of these
13:26braking bumps.
13:27I noticed that Hunter
13:28is able to close in,
13:29but after the finish line,
13:30those smooth corners,
13:31the longer sections
13:32where Jet can have his time
13:33and jump over the bumps,
13:35like he's pretty good.
13:36I think that comes down
13:37to the ankle,
13:38his braking power,
13:39and just how he feels
13:40on a motorcycle.
13:41So, with cat and mouse
13:42between these two guys.
13:47Another lap clicks off.
13:49Almost halfway home.
13:54That's Marchbanks
13:55in green there
13:56with his monster Kawasaki
13:57battling with Ferrandez.
14:00And Webb's
14:01in that fight, too.
14:03It's passed by Garrett.
14:05Yeah.
14:06Yeah, really.
14:06Red needle rat there.
14:09Well, what'll be
14:10interesting here is
14:12Marchbanks is actually
14:13going quicker
14:14than his teammate Sexton.
14:17and what happens
14:18if he starts to close
14:19on his teammate?
14:20That's the next rider
14:21up the road.
14:22It is fifth
14:24for Marchbanks,
14:25fourth for Sexton.
14:29Jet stretching that gap.
14:31Yeah.
14:36Almost halfway,
14:37so really going to tell you
14:39where Hunter was.
14:40We saw it.
14:40Hey, Deegan,
14:41him battle Hayden.
14:42He did the same thing.
14:43Looked like he dropped back,
14:44but Hunter had that pace,
14:46so he's able to close
14:47back on Jet.
14:48That tells you enough
14:49right there that
14:50he's got the pace
14:51and he's going to try
14:52to get in,
14:53but it's going to be
14:53a long ways to go.
14:54Only halfway there, Katie.
14:55Yeah, just something
14:56that I observed here.
14:57Brent Duffy,
14:58Hayden Deegan's mechanic
14:59over there,
15:00had his pit board read
15:01of eight plus two Jet.
15:04And I thought it was
15:04really interesting
15:05because a lot of times
15:06they don't designate
15:07what the rider is
15:08or who the rider is
15:08in front of him.
15:09And it is specifically
15:10Jet on that pit board,
15:11so obviously the arrow
15:12is pointing directly ahead.
15:14at Mr. Lawrence.
15:17Hayden hasn't been shy,
15:18but that's his goal
15:19to beat Jet Lawrence.
15:20But that's a long way
15:21to go today.
15:23Yeah, the mechanics,
15:24they know they're riders.
15:25They know they're riders.
15:26He knows what motivates you.
15:27Okay.
15:30And then just lap times
15:32between the Lawrence brothers.
15:35Jet is pouring it on.
15:37Yes, he is.
15:38Yeah, a little after halfway
15:40and now you can start
15:41starting to see him
15:42like Hunter's
15:43he's building that gap
15:44and really what it's
15:45coming down to
15:45he's just getting
15:46really comfortable.
15:48That was a hard part
15:49for Hunter.
15:49If he wanted to get him,
15:51he needed to keep
15:51that pressure on him
15:52and Jet's starting
15:53to squeak away now.
15:56almost to three seconds now.
15:59Going to give you
16:00the Rocky Mountain
16:01team check-in.
16:02We're going to shout out
16:03the Liqui Molly beta team
16:04today.
16:05You got Benny Bloss there
16:06in 13th.
16:07Mitchell Oldenburg
16:07in 30th.
16:08Now, Oldenburg has not
16:09raced pro motocross
16:10since 2019.
16:13that's their moto one finishes
16:15to find him out on the track
16:17right now.
16:17Oldenburg a lot better here.
16:18He is in 21st and Bloss,
16:22who I believe had troubles
16:23early is 33rd.
16:25So that's their second moto.
16:27But good to see beta
16:28jumping into pro motocross
16:29for the first time.
16:31Ran a couple of races
16:32with Bloss last year,
16:33but they're full in it
16:34this year.
16:36And that's one of the new
16:37manufacturers jumping
16:38into this game along
16:39with Ducati and Triumph.
16:41A lot of excitement
16:41over new brands
16:42jumping into SMX.
16:44But it's one of the oldest.
16:46Honda has it under control
16:48right now.
16:49Halfway through this moto.
16:50A reminder to stock up
16:52Monster Energy
16:53at Grocery Outlet.
16:54And just like that,
16:56Chet Lawrence.
16:58Three and a half seconds
16:59is the gap.
17:00Well, the problem is
17:02he just ran a 155.3,
17:04which is two seconds faster
17:06than Hunter Lawrence,
17:06which Jets fastest
17:07lap of the race, JT.
17:10Well, this is exactly
17:11the same thing he did
17:12the first moto.
17:13As soon as it kind of
17:14looked like he was
17:14settling in,
17:15I wasn't really sure
17:16how this was going to play out.
17:17He turns in some of his
17:18best laps of the race.
17:19And I don't know
17:20if this is premeditated.
17:22I don't know if this is
17:23on purpose where he said,
17:24okay, halfway.
17:25Now I make my break.
17:26Now I build my gap
17:27and then I manage it
17:27to the end.
17:28It would be a great question
17:29to ask him on the podium
17:30if this was intentional
17:31or like James,
17:33you were saying,
17:33he just kind of finds
17:34his groove mid-race.
17:36Yeah, I mean,
17:36I think both of those are true.
17:37It's intentional,
17:38but he also knows
17:39who's rotting behind him.
17:40He let his brother stay there.
17:42He's in his comfort spot.
17:43Now, again, Hunter Lawrence,
17:45he might not have
17:45the pace of his brother.
17:47It's important for him
17:47to just stay close to him
17:49because if I'm Jet Lawrence,
17:50maybe Hunter feels like,
17:51hey, look,
17:53he put in that burst of speed.
17:54Like, he won't go any faster.
17:56And if I can stay there
17:57and keep him racing behind me,
17:59maybe I can close that gap.
18:00But right now,
18:01this kid looks good.
18:03He looks like Jet Lawrence,
18:05but he looks like
18:06an incredible amount of progress
18:08in one week's time.
18:11And really,
18:13last week,
18:14way below his normal pace
18:15in the first qualifying session.
18:17Closer to it
18:18in the second qualifying session.
18:19Better in the motos,
18:20but only third in the end.
18:22And then today,
18:24if it ends like this,
18:25he'll have the 1-1
18:26and the fastest qualifying time.
18:29It's kind of scarier
18:30for everyone else.
18:31Yeah, it is.
18:33And when you look at
18:33just what he's doing,
18:35and like I said,
18:36that little bit of gap
18:36makes a huge difference.
18:37Now, because Hunter's
18:39not close to him,
18:39he's able to slow down
18:40and he's able to hop over bumps
18:42just like he is.
18:43So if you can have somebody,
18:44if Hunter was close to him,
18:46Jet would have to charge
18:46down in those sections,
18:47which means he won't be able
18:48to hop over that stuff
18:49because Hunter's closing.
18:50And it just changes
18:51the way he rides a motorcycle.
18:53You let him out like this,
18:55he's going to be
18:55in his comfort zone.
18:56And he is hard to beat that way
18:57because of how good he is.
19:00Yes, he's managed gaps
19:01of this distance.
19:04Marvelously the last couple of years.
19:06Not a guy who usually tries
19:07to win the moto by 30 seconds.
19:09He gets it around
19:10that two to three second mark
19:13and keeps it there.
19:18Yeah, you see that.
19:19You hear him being very
19:21light on the bike,
19:22taking his time.
19:23Now if Hunter was closer,
19:24he would have to charge
19:25into that section.
19:26and that makes it a lot
19:28harder on his foot
19:29and all that.
19:29So Hunter's keeping that gap
19:32there.
19:32I think he's closed a little bit
19:33this next lap,
19:35but on this last lap.
19:39Look, I think we know
19:41the brothers work together
19:42so well.
19:42They're not rivals
19:43on the racetrack
19:44as far as anything
19:46besides just made
19:47the best fan win.
19:49but we're already at a point
19:50where Hunter Lawrence,
19:51is this critical
19:51for him to try to shut
19:53Jet down confidence-wise?
19:54I mean, I'm being selfish.
19:57I'm thinking of my brother
19:58right here.
19:58I just feel like
19:59with Hunter Lawrence,
20:00he knows how great
20:00his brother is,
20:01but he also knows
20:02how good he is.
20:03And Jet's on a different
20:04level today.
20:05But coming off an injury
20:06and what we saw
20:07last weekend
20:08from Hunter Lawrence
20:09and saw from Jet,
20:10I would just have
20:11a hard time,
20:12even though I know
20:13how good my brother is,
20:14to allow him to beat me
20:15this moto just because
20:16it almost feels like
20:18everything I did
20:18all year long,
20:19it was because
20:20he wasn't there.
20:21And I know that's not true.
20:22Hunter is better,
20:23but at the same time,
20:24you're only as good
20:25as your last race.
20:26And you go to this,
20:28when they race,
20:29Jet spins just a tad better.
20:30So I would just go off
20:32from that standpoint.
20:33But at the end of the day,
20:33Hunter Lawrence is going
20:34to leave here
20:35with the points lead,
20:36exactly where he needs
20:37to be.
20:37So not all is lost,
20:39but I'm selfish.
20:40I want to win.
20:41Yeah, again,
20:42I think if there's
20:43any other rider,
20:44you'd say, oh man,
20:44that's going to be tough.
20:45Jet already back
20:46in victory lane.
20:47Maybe we don't think
20:48of that as much
20:48between the brothers.
20:50See how it turns out.
20:51This is what I wanted
20:52to watch.
20:54Could March Banks
20:55run down his teammate
20:56Sexton?
20:57And he is closing.
20:59Sexton, a two-minute
21:00lap time.
21:01March Banks, a 1.58.
21:04Yeah, this is a little
21:05bit where Pride
21:05comes on the line
21:07with Chase Sexton.
21:08If anything,
21:08kind of motivate us
21:09when your teammate
21:10comes up because
21:10you can't be like,
21:12oh man, the bike's not good
21:13when you get beat
21:13by your own teammate
21:14at this point.
21:15But I know it's hard
21:16for Chase because
21:17he wants to be winning.
21:18He doesn't care
21:18about four plays.
21:19He wants to be up front.
21:20And when you can't do that,
21:22it's just hard to be
21:23that same rider
21:24where Garrett wants
21:25to be in that top five
21:25because he's fighting
21:26for a lot.
21:27Really interesting dynamic
21:29that you're going to see
21:29between these two.
21:31So Garrett,
21:32the move of the season
21:34last year,
21:35he took a one-year
21:36250 deal
21:37with Monster Pro Circuit
21:38Kawasaki knowing
21:39they probably were not
21:41going to continue
21:41to have room for him
21:42in 2026.
21:44But he rode so well
21:45that they found room
21:46for him.
21:47And then
21:48they had an opening
21:49on the 450 team
21:50when Jorge Prado
21:51chose to leave
21:52and they bumped him
21:53up to the 450 class.
21:54450 factory rides,
21:55not easy to get.
21:56he got it.
21:57So the risk paid off.
21:59He gambled on himself
22:00and he's riding
22:01really well right now.
22:08Chase is right
22:08in front of him.
22:11Next, they got it
22:12back into the 159s
22:13and then March Banks
22:14went from 158
22:15to 159 himself.
22:18Yeah, that's a little
22:19bit of teammate action
22:20and Jorge Prado,
22:22we haven't talked
22:22about him.
22:24Obviously,
22:25he didn't get
22:25a great start.
22:26I wonder,
22:26did he go down
22:28or something?
22:29But hopefully,
22:30for his sake,
22:31I know he's got
22:31a bad start
22:32and I know how
22:32difficult his racetrack
22:33is, but
22:35you don't want
22:35this finish.
22:36You don't want
22:36it to be only
22:37start dependent
22:38because what's
22:39going to happen
22:39is the guys
22:40like Jet Lawrence,
22:41hey, Deegan,
22:41they're not going
22:42to take you
22:42as a serious threat
22:43because they feel
22:44like if you're
22:44not out front,
22:45they know how
22:45to beat you.
22:46So, Jorge,
22:47we're not really
22:48sure what happened
22:49in those opening
22:49laps, but
22:51tough first moto
22:52and then 15th,
22:53man, this is
22:53a huge shock.
22:54not only a championship
22:56but just the momentum.
22:57Yeah, 15th.
22:58And that would
22:59leave him all the
23:00way back to 7th
23:01of the championship
23:02points after being
23:03second last week
23:05and second in points.
23:06But he's got
23:07some work to do.
23:07He's got Jordan
23:08Smith in 14th.
23:10Smith and his wife
23:12welcomed their
23:13second baby into the
23:14world on Wednesday.
23:15Right with a jammed
23:16wrist.
23:17Heard it a little bit
23:18last week.
23:19He's working hard
23:19at that number 20
23:20to try it.
23:21But here comes Prado.
23:22You got thin
23:23speed freeze right
23:24in front of him.
23:27All right,
23:28that's Tondal's
23:28teammate.
23:29Yeah.
23:29Or sorry,
23:30that's Freezy's
23:32teammate,
23:32Tondal,
23:33417.
23:34They got almost
23:34the same exact
23:35number.
23:36The same exact
23:36bike.
23:37Cornelius Tondal,
23:39can he hold on?
23:41Because here comes
23:41Prado.
23:42I thought Prado
23:43had to pass me.
23:43Good job,
23:44Jordan Smith.
23:45Oh, man.
23:46Diaper prices
23:47don't win up.
23:48We're just adding
23:49another one.
23:49He's going to fight
23:50for these.
23:53Prado all over
23:54this track
23:55looking for
23:55running room.
23:57But the points,
23:59just a terrible
24:00points day for Prado.
24:01It's his chance
24:02to try to claw
24:03a few back.
24:06Yeah,
24:06I know this seems
24:07small,
24:08but I think
24:08these passes
24:10are really important
24:10for Jorge.
24:12Not for the
24:12championship-wise.
24:13I mean,
24:13obviously it's
24:14important for that,
24:15but really just
24:15that narrative
24:16a little bit.
24:17You don't want
24:17to just be
24:18stuck back here.
24:19We don't want
24:19to end this race
24:20and know that
24:20he didn't go down.
24:21He just finished
24:21behind these guys.
24:22They're riding
24:23really good,
24:24but when you look
24:24at Jorge finishing
24:25second last weekend,
24:27I think just
24:27passing these guys
24:28and continue to
24:29move forward
24:29like he just does.
24:31Jordan right there
24:31is a big thing
24:32for him mentally
24:33to keep pushing
24:34forward even
24:35if he ends up
24:3612th.
24:38So that's one
24:39pass on Smith.
24:45and every
24:46position here
24:47is one
24:48championship point.
24:48Now he's going
24:49to be facing
24:49a huge hole
24:50in the series.
24:51He didn't score
24:52any in the first
24:53photo.
24:56He's trying to
24:56limit the damage
24:57here.
25:02Tondel
25:03raced a couple
25:04of these last
25:04year,
25:05even tried
25:05Supercross
25:06late in the
25:07year this year.
25:08Rider out
25:09of Norway.
25:12Riding pretty
25:12well right now.
25:14I feel like
25:15he's a veteran.
25:15I feel like
25:16he's been around
25:16travel the world
25:17for a while
25:17but he's seen
25:18as 23 years
25:19old.
25:20And here
25:21comes Prado,
25:22the Spaniard.
25:25Yeah,
25:25this is key.
25:26Show that he
25:26can do it
25:27with the bad
25:27start.
25:29And again,
25:30to Jorge's
25:30credit,
25:31this track
25:31is difficult
25:32to pass on,
25:33especially
25:33when you get
25:34in these
25:34when the battles
25:35but he's
25:37good enough
25:37and has the
25:38pace.
25:38He should
25:38go to work
25:39his way
25:39around them
25:40even though
25:40he's riding
25:40really good.
25:41Cornelius that
25:42is.
25:43Jorge makes
25:44the pass
25:44after that
25:44mistake.
25:45So keep
25:45pushing for
25:47he's got
25:47about four
25:48seconds to
25:49kill
25:50Harap.
25:53Keep
25:53pushing.
25:54Yep.
25:55Harap,
25:55the Danish
25:56rider on
25:57the 5-11
25:57triumph
25:58would be
25:5912th.
26:00Can Prado
26:00dig out
26:01a top
26:0110?
26:02Right now
26:03it's
26:03Lawrence,
26:03Lawrence,
26:04Deegan.
26:05Sexton
26:06has stabilized
26:07that gap
26:07with Marchbank.
26:09They're both
26:09running
26:09158s.
26:12Miranda
26:126th.
26:13Hampshire,
26:14Craig Webb,
26:15Barsha,
26:15Guillaume,
26:17Harap
26:17and then
26:18Prado
26:19back to
26:19Webb
26:20on the two
26:21with Hampshire
26:22on the 24th.
26:26I was checking
26:26in the lap
26:27times like
26:27we lost
26:28air.
26:28So obviously
26:29that shoulder
26:30was a little bit
26:30worse.
26:31Seven laps
26:31down.
26:32He must
26:32have pulled
26:32off earlier.
26:33We actually,
26:34I was in a box.
26:35We saw that
26:36real quick.
26:36Him calling it
26:37a day.
26:37It has been
26:38back on a season
26:39for the Cowboy
26:40there.
26:40The seven
26:41of Plessinger
26:43injuries in
26:44Supercross
26:44and then more
26:45trouble today.
26:47As for
26:48Hampshire,
26:49he's working
26:49on a new deal
26:50with this team,
26:51Rockstar
26:51Esparta,
26:51but then they
26:52have announced
26:52they will not
26:53return to
26:53racing in
26:542027.
26:55So he asked
26:56him about
26:56trying to
26:57work on
26:57something else.
27:00It's done.
27:01It sucks.
27:02It really does
27:03because this
27:03was a spot
27:04that I
27:05wanted to
27:06retire at really.
27:07I love the group
27:08that we get
27:08to work with
27:09week in
27:10and week out,
27:11but there's
27:12always a boss
27:13that you have
27:14to answer to
27:15and that's
27:16what it came
27:16down to.
27:17So yeah,
27:18our team's
27:18done it in the
27:18year.
27:19There's been a
27:20lot of phone
27:20calls.
27:21I've represented
27:22myself, so I
27:23was an agent
27:24and a rider
27:25here the last
27:25couple months
27:26and learned a
27:28lot.
27:28The thing that
27:29I've learned
27:29the most,
27:30though, is
27:32growth comes
27:33from being
27:33uncomfortable
27:34and that's
27:35where I'm at
27:35right now.
27:36I had so much
27:37comfort here
27:38with this team
27:38and I feel
27:39like this next
27:41step in growth
27:41is where I'm
27:42at and I'll
27:43land on a good
27:44team for next
27:45year.
27:47Yeah, that was
27:48a bummer
27:48fall involved.
27:49Certainly your
27:49brother Malcolm
27:50who had a two-year
27:51deal.
27:51He's also now
27:52going to be on
27:53the market.
27:53A couple of the
27:54250 riders on
27:55that team we hear
27:56will most likely
27:57be absorbed
27:58into an expanded
27:59KTM 250 effort
28:01and then a lot
28:02of rumors.
28:02Husqvarna said
28:03they will still
28:04provide parts
28:05to a team
28:05if the team
28:06is willing to
28:07lease them.
28:08So a couple
28:09teams scrambling
28:09willing to maybe
28:10take over
28:11wouldn't be the
28:12full factory
28:13Husqvarna effort
28:14next year
28:14but to get
28:15some good support
28:16next year
28:16we'll see how
28:17that turns out
28:18and we'll see
28:19where it turns
28:20out for the 24
28:21because he's
28:21shown on the
28:22450 he could
28:22be a player.
28:24Yeah, tough position
28:26to be in
28:26and we all
28:28understand business
28:29things gotta happen
28:30but I know for sure
28:31it'd be tough
28:32because these guys
28:33are risking their
28:34lives out here
28:35and you know
28:36RJ is going to be
28:37RJ no matter what
28:39so he'll land on
28:40his feet
28:41along with my brother
28:42as well
28:42but I'm sure it's
28:43tough for him
28:44Nathan, Nathan, Ramsey
28:45all these guys
28:47last thing they want
28:48but they'll be back
28:49yeah, Nathan
28:50the team manager
28:51over there
28:51great racer
28:52in his own right
28:57the hope
28:58I think is a lot
28:59of the staff
29:00might get absorbed
29:00into that larger
29:02KTM 250 team
29:03they're only running
29:03one 250 rider
29:05right now
29:05and they'll probably
29:07expand to four riders
29:08next year
29:08and that might give
29:09the likes of
29:10Benick
29:11and Ryder
29:12DeFrancisco
29:13a place
29:13not sure what's
29:14going to happen
29:14for Cochran
29:15or your brother
29:16Malcolm
29:16or for RJ
29:17RJ's got to keep
29:18hustling
29:18because Cooper Webb
29:19is still fighting
29:20behind him
29:21back to the leader
29:23look
29:23Jett Lawrence
29:24has done
29:24so many
29:26mind-blowing things
29:27the last couple
29:28of years
29:28but to come from
29:29where he was
29:30last week
29:30to winning
29:30that's going to
29:31rank right up there
29:32JT
29:32what do you got
29:33you know
29:34the White House
29:35has been releasing
29:36these alien files
29:37I don't know
29:37if you've been
29:37paying attention
29:38to that
29:38but I found
29:39Jett Lawrence's name
29:40there
29:40he's back
29:41to being the alien
29:42I would say
29:42James Stewart
29:43there too
29:43so if you're there
29:45at home
29:45go on that website
29:46check these guys out
29:47because the point
29:48is what we're seeing
29:50this isn't
29:51normal behavior
29:51this is not
29:52what you would expect
29:54and James
29:54I know
29:55I'm qualifying
29:55you came back
29:56from a torn ACL
29:57went 24-0
29:58I know
29:59but to be this good
30:01this fast
30:02I wasn't even sure
30:02if he was going to win
30:03in the month of June
30:04and here we are
30:05at the second round
30:06and he's on the cusp
30:07of going 1-1
30:07it's truly a remarkable
30:09turnaround
30:09if he can clear
30:11Vince Friese
30:11yeah
30:12no I'm with you JT
30:14I mean
30:15the way this race is
30:16and you know
30:17game recognized game
30:18and this kid has a lot
30:19of games
30:20I mean his brother
30:20does as well
30:21but I'm with you
30:22I'm just impressed
30:23and I was excited
30:24about these two
30:25battling this moto
30:26because of those
30:27types of things
30:28and it just shows me
30:29the heart of this kid
30:31and Hunter Lawrence
30:31is still there
30:32he's still fighting
30:33but this kid is good
30:36this kid is good
30:37and just the recovery
30:38from last weekend
30:39to this weekend
30:41and just really
30:43finding his flow
30:44but Jason
30:44I think it came back
30:45down to
30:46is that one lap
30:47in practice
30:47I believe
30:48that is what
30:49makes Jet Lawrence
30:50and why he's able
30:51to do what he's doing
30:51today
30:52is from one lap
30:53a minute and 54 seconds
30:55is what kind of
30:55change the way
30:56this guy is
30:58and having that belief
30:59because like I said
31:01earlier
31:01as a rotten athlete
31:03you want to at least
31:04be able to come back
31:04from an injury
31:05and do the same thing
31:06that made you
31:07who you are
31:07and Jet Lawrence
31:08riding like this
31:09he was able to find
31:10that speed
31:11and the way he looked
31:12doing it
31:12allows him
31:13when Hunter Lawrence
31:14is there
31:14to be able to drop
31:15down two seconds
31:16and like I'll just go
31:17fast
31:17even though I'm
31:18uncomfortable
31:19but I think
31:20that was found
31:20in practice today
31:21and that's why
31:23he's the champion
31:23won a lot of races
31:24in the square
31:26coming back
31:27from a broken
31:28talus
31:29that's a bone
31:29right at the ankle
31:30and foot
31:30and notoriously
31:32difficult to heal
31:34in a bad
31:35blood flow
31:36and a lot of people
31:37since 12 months
31:38maybe before you
31:39could recover
31:39maybe 100%
31:41is never possible
31:42but to be able
31:42to be competitive
31:43he did it in six
31:46and even had
31:47a little hiccup
31:47there
31:48and had to get
31:48one of the screws
31:49changed out
31:50but despite that
31:52showed up around one
31:53wasn't quite at
31:54its normal pace
31:55but still good enough
31:56to get third
31:57and right back
31:58on top
32:00in one week's time
32:02and just to add
32:03on that
32:03I believe
32:04what makes it more
32:05impressive
32:05and why I'm so
32:06impressed with Jay
32:06it's not that
32:07like he came back
32:09from this injury
32:09I mean a lot
32:10of these guys
32:10come back
32:11from gnarly injuries
32:11we have brokenness
32:12I mean look
32:13Julian Bormier
32:14in that 250 class
32:15they're all talented
32:16they can do it
32:16but when you're
32:17on this level
32:18you show up
32:19at a race
32:19that you haven't
32:20raced all year long
32:21he's been out
32:21for over
32:21almost a year
32:22when you look
32:23at how long
32:23he's been off
32:24the motorcycle
32:24at least a long time
32:25show up in the
32:26first race
32:26you get no grace
32:28period
32:28so we showed up
32:29last weekend
32:30after the race
32:31and how things
32:32look
32:32we were asking
32:33the question
32:33you know
32:34people were
32:34will he ever
32:35be the same
32:36right
32:36is he human
32:37is this it
32:38and for him
32:39to respond
32:40just I'm impressed
32:42mentally
32:42because you don't
32:43understand
32:43how difficult
32:44that is
32:45to be in a
32:46position where
32:46he is
32:46it's like being
32:47sick or hurt
32:48at work
32:48and expected
32:49to come in
32:49and do
32:50your best
32:51performance
32:51nobody gives
32:52you any kind
32:52of leeway
32:53and this guy
32:53is doing that
32:54and that's
32:55what makes
32:55this ride
32:56so impressive
32:56checking in
32:59checking in
33:26on Hayden Deegan
33:27just by default
33:28because of how
33:29Garrett's riding
33:29but nonetheless
33:30great ride
33:31by the
33:31Kawasaki
33:32and hopefully
33:32they can build
33:33off that
33:33because they're
33:34going to have
33:34to if they
33:35want to compete
33:35with these two
33:35riders
33:36these HRC
33:37Hondas
33:37and it's the
33:38last lap
33:38and it's over
33:39now
33:39big lead
33:40for Jet
33:41and it's
33:43going to be
33:43a reset
33:43one win
33:44for Hunter
33:45one win
33:45for Jet
33:46heading into
33:46round three
33:47live coverage
33:48of that
33:48on NBC
33:49next weekend
33:49and to just
33:50spice it up
33:50a little more
33:51got the two
33:52you've got
33:53the brothers
33:53here
33:53you've got
33:54the twins
33:54coming over
33:55from Belgium
33:56the Kunin
33:57brothers
33:57Lucas will be
33:58racing the
33:59450 class
34:00he's the points
34:00leader at MXGP
34:01450 class
34:03overseas
34:03and his brother
34:06Sasha will be
34:07racing the
34:07250 class
34:08as points
34:09leader
34:10in MXGP
34:11in the
34:12250 class
34:12there
34:13so that will
34:13be very
34:14interesting
34:14to throw
34:14them in
34:15the mix
34:16next weekend
34:17Thunder Valley
34:19but Jet
34:20Lawrence is
34:21going to be
34:21the headline
34:21today
34:23just like
34:24old times
34:25yep
34:25just like
34:25old times
34:26very impressive
34:27when I heard
34:27that the
34:28Kunins were
34:29coming over
34:29here
34:30I was actually
34:30kind of surprised
34:31because this
34:32guy is leading
34:32the MXGP
34:33world championship
34:34and it just
34:35shows you
34:36how they want
34:37to come here
34:38and race
34:39and both
34:39series
34:39are great
34:40but for him
34:40to be taking
34:41that chance
34:42to come to
34:42a different
34:43country
34:43to race
34:44over here
34:45leading a
34:45championship
34:46that I know
34:46he wants
34:47to back up
34:47just shows you
34:48how they want
34:49to go after
34:49Jet Lawrence
34:50and make them
34:51kind of understand
34:52that the
34:52opportunities now
34:53and just makes
34:55next week
34:55even more exciting
34:56and it'll be
34:56a different track
34:57different challenge
34:58for Jet Lawrence
34:59Hunter Lawrence
34:59is great
35:00but right now
35:01it's number one
35:02yep number one
35:04is number one
35:05what a difference
35:06a week makes
35:06rode a little bit
35:08this week
35:08not as much
35:09as normal
35:10not as much
35:11as Hunter
35:11didn't ride
35:12press day
35:12like you said
35:13there were a lot
35:13of signs
35:14that oh maybe
35:15this is not
35:15going very well
35:17for the number
35:17one until that
35:19lap time in
35:20qualifying and now
35:21carrying it to the
35:22motos he wins
35:23moto one
35:23he pulls away
35:25in moto two
35:25gives the fist pump
35:27toward his mechanic
35:28it was a long road
35:29back but we didn't
35:30see much of that
35:31we only saw one
35:32subpar race
35:33by his standards
35:33and now Jet Lawrence
35:35is back on top
35:36in pro motocross
35:39what a ride champ
35:41the ride by Hunter
35:42Lawrence
35:43as you know
35:44he's back
35:46yep he's going to be
35:47dealing with Jet
35:48all summer long
35:49here's Hayden Deegan
35:50it's going to be
35:50his first 4.50 podium
35:53that was Jet's third
35:55what about
