00:00Here, Cole Davies, special.
00:01We all expected him to challenge Hayden Deegan in these showdowns,
00:07but Hayden has had a massive upper hand,
00:09but I'm not giving up on this guy.
00:12Incredible talent from New Zealand.
00:15Just to his left is Seth Hamaker,
00:18and he didn't have the 2026 championship season he wanted,
00:21but he has had a great day so far,
00:24and the only thing you can control is what's in front of you,
00:27and this main event is right in front of Seth Hamaker,
00:29and he can go out on top here in Salt Lake City.
00:3499, young Caden Meneer here,
00:37part of the Yamaha-star racing team amongst many there.
00:42An incredible performance at the beginning of SMX Next,
00:45at the beginning of this year at Anaheim II.
00:47He got the win there, and then Lee, you talked about it,
00:50that core up to the pro class in Denver,
00:53getting a fifth last weekend.
00:54Well, it was a fourth for the Heat here.
00:56He's got everybody, both coasts to go up against,
00:58but he would definitely like to get another top five here.
01:01Looking strong, like you said, job opportunity for these guys.
01:04Huge leap for him to come out of SMX Next,
01:06and then be in an East-West showdown,
01:08and if Hayden Deegan can win tonight,
01:12he would go ahead of our very own Adam Ciancerillo,
01:15Kevin Wyndham, Jeff Emick, with the most showdowns won.
01:19Time to do it here in Salt Lake City.
01:22It's Hayden Deegan's last ride on a 250.
01:25Does he get the whole shot?
01:26He's squeezed on the inside.
01:28You betcha he gets it.
01:30Look at all those Monster Energy star racing Yamaha.
01:33It's Anstey Deegan.
01:34Anstey goes to the inside for the move.
01:37Nice.
01:37That's the great thing about being on that right-hand side,
01:40on that short shoot after the start.
01:43Teammates at it at the front.
01:44One, two, and three.
01:46Anstey Deegan Davies.
01:48Let's see if Hayden scrubs this thing.
01:50As you see, Max took a look up the inside.
01:52He's had that vision before,
01:54but if anybody was going to challenge Hayden Deegan,
01:57you had to get in front of him.
01:58This is what they needed to do.
01:59They saw how quickly he ran away from it on the heat race.
02:02You got Cole Davies.
02:04Looks like he wants to take a shot as well.
02:06I talked about this racetrack racing tight.
02:08The reason that I say that,
02:09because a lot of these lanes are very short,
02:11so it's very hard to move around.
02:14You feel trapped when you're in this position,
02:17especially if you're Hayden Deegan,
02:19where you have your teammate in front of you.
02:20You got Cole Davies all up behind you.
02:23See Hayden looking over his shoulder.
02:26That's why.
02:27Here comes Davies.
02:28He's a specialist in the warps.
02:30And you know that he would desperately want to beat Hayden Deegan
02:34in this finals East-West showdown of the year.
02:38Davies will stay on a 250 next year.
02:40Deegan goes up in just a matter of weeks
02:42to the 450 class for pro motocross
02:44as he works on his teammate Max Anstey,
02:47the winner of the season opener in Anaheim.
02:50Yeah, you talk about Hayden,
02:51how much he's grown as a rider in that whoop section.
02:55Cole had a better run to him,
02:56but Hayden got back, made that thing work,
02:58and Cole couldn't do anything.
03:00He's trying to put that pressure on Max.
03:01I feel like if I'm Hayden, if I can get around him,
03:04I might be able to get away,
03:05but Max is doing a great job, Ricky.
03:07I was going to say, James,
03:08this guy, number one, isn't going to wait long,
03:11and he's going to want to make the move.
03:13There you go.
03:13There it is.
03:14Deegan to the front.
03:16Later.
03:19Crowd tells you what they think about that.
03:21Yeah, it's going to be really important, James,
03:23as you know, I believe,
03:24for Cole to get by his teammate, Max Anstey,
03:28or it's going to be super hard
03:29to catch back up to the rear wheel of Deegan.
03:33I agree with you 100%.
03:35It's good to see Max back up here, JT.
03:39That's exactly what I was thinking, James.
03:41Remember, this is the guy that won the opening round
03:43in a championship that has been absolutely dominated
03:46by your defending champ, Hayden Deegan.
03:49But this is how he started.
03:50It would be a great way for Max Anstey
03:52to end this season on the podium.
03:54He's been through everything this year,
03:56including a removed appendix,
03:57and this will be a bright spot on the season.
03:59Got his teammate Cole Davies right behind him,
04:01and Davies is trying desperately
04:03to get by the British rider
04:05so he can try and go with Hayden Deegan.
04:08It's teammates 1, 2, and 3, 4, 5, and 6,
04:12with McAdoo, Hamaker, and Kitchen,
04:14the Kawasaki guys, running 4th, 5th, and 6th.
04:17Yeah, Seth has any chance.
04:19He needs to get around his teammate
04:21and try to get up there.
04:22We know how he's been,
04:23he was the fastest in your qualifying,
04:25had a great heat race,
04:26but all that can be left alone.
04:28He didn't get the best to start,
04:29and the toughest guys are in front of him.
04:31Yeah, he didn't.
04:32And again, a little bit of redemption
04:34for this season would be huge.
04:36Oh, look at the top of your screen.
04:40Cole Davies getting into the second spot.
04:43These next couple acts are going to be a lot of fun
04:44to see if he can reel him in.
04:46We'll have ourselves a battle for the lead.
04:48Yeah, and it's a different position for Cole.
04:50He hasn't, normally Hayden's behind him,
04:52stalking him,
04:53so maybe this will help him loosen up.
04:55If he can keep this gap closed,
04:57then maybe, as Hayden's starting to jump through
04:59to Wolf right there,
05:00Cole can close that gap.
05:03Keep monitoring that.
05:05It's 2.1 seconds.
05:06As we watch Cameron McAdoo
05:07and teammate Seth Hamaker
05:09aboard their Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's.
05:11This is the fight for four.
05:13Yeah, Hamaker needs to make the move
05:15on his teammate right here.
05:17He's losing some valuable time,
05:19and it goes so fast,
05:21and that's the difficult part right here.
05:23If it wasn't his teammate,
05:24he probably would have made the move by now.
05:27Yeah, but Cameron's doing really good,
05:29and really strong in the whoops as well,
05:31so Seth is probably going to have to get him before,
05:34because I don't think he'll be able to get him
05:35unless Cameron makes a mistake through the whoops.
05:37Yeah, you're going to have to try to make a move
05:39up one of these 180 corners.
05:42McAdoo, who missed two races through injury recently,
05:45came back at the last West Division round
05:49in Denver last weekend.
05:51Good to see him back,
05:52and good to see him in this form.
05:53He's down!
05:54McAdoo down hard!
05:56Oh, no.
05:57Hamaker's down as well.
05:59Oh, my goodness.
06:00Hamaker goes down.
06:02Oh, the guys, man.
06:03They went right between them.
06:05Oh, what a tough blow.
06:09That is uncanny.
06:11The two teammates who are having a brilliant race together
06:13come down four whoops apart.
06:16Yeah, a lot just happened in the whoops,
06:18because I heard the crowd.
06:19If you look at our gap,
06:20I think Haid made a mistake in those whoops,
06:23allow Cole Davies to close up.
06:24That's what I think the crowd was reacting for,
06:27or to, rather,
06:29right before the PC guys went down,
06:31Pro Circuit guys,
06:32McAdoo and Hamaker,
06:34get the line right there.
06:35Oh, Cole comes up short.
06:38That stops his momentum a little bit.
06:40Let's see this passage through the whoops.
06:43Kawasaki guys are off to the side.
06:45All right, this may very well be game on.
06:48It's Cole Davies' last chance to take a shot,
06:51and he almost does.
06:53Remember Denver last year?
06:55Yeah, I was just about to bring that up,
06:57and, you know, I think at this point,
06:59this is where the experience comes in with Haid.
07:01Now he realizes Cole is here.
07:02You're going to have to race this guy.
07:04Maybe you kind of let him go by,
07:05but that was a pretty bold move by Cole.
07:08This is going to be the,
07:09this is where the games are going to start
07:11being played right here.
07:12You guys are in for an absolute treat right now,
07:15and what the strategy is going to be
07:17is going to be a lot of fun to watch it play out,
07:19but Cole very fast in the whoops.
07:21Now he went to the left side.
07:23Let's see if Hayden is able to anticipate that
07:26and block that side of the whoops.
07:29Yeah, bingo.
07:31Here we go.
07:32The whoops specialist goes to the front.
07:35There we go.
07:35Deegan comes back through the sand.
07:37Blocks his teammate.
07:38Listen to this crowd.
07:40It is on.
07:43And the games have begun.
07:45I told you it was coming just around the corner.
07:49Hayden looking back.
07:5137, James.
07:52He just needs to stay strong,
07:53not give up,
07:54not get flustered by what's going on,
07:56but he is going against,
07:57I feel is one of the best to have ever done it
08:00and play these type of games.
08:02Oh, yeah.
08:03You're playing in his wheelhouse right now.
08:04He's probably getting loosened up like at that point,
08:06but as you were just saying,
08:08hey, Deegan,
08:09just his race craft to go down that section.
08:11And it will be, you know, Cole?
08:12Cole switched up the line.
08:15Cole is a faster rider right now.
08:17Here we go.
08:18Watch Davies.
08:18He's working the lines.
08:20He's trying to set Deegan up.
08:22Next passage through the warps.
08:24Here we go again.
08:25The next round.
08:27Inside Deegan.
08:28Switches back.
08:29Davies switches back.
08:30They're side by side momentarily.
08:33Yeah, that was good.
08:34I was thinking, hey,
08:35at that moment,
08:36I would have done exactly what he did.
08:38I'll go down the middle,
08:39make Cole, like, decide which way he's going to go.
08:41This is the best 250 race of the year.
08:44This is what we've all wanted to see.
08:46Everybody is getting this.
08:48And I'll tell you what,
08:49this is an incredible ride by both of these guys,
08:51but especially Cole Davies,
08:54because this hasn't been the case.
08:56Gotcha.
08:57Hits him.
08:58He says,
08:58that's Denver payback a year later.
09:02Uh-oh.
09:02Uh-oh.
09:04I love it.
09:05Wow.
09:06What's Deegan's got right here?
09:07You know that he wants to win this race.
09:10He's been talking about how many races he's won
09:13or should have won.
09:15I'll tell you what, Cole,
09:16you better run, baby.
09:17You better run.
09:18He's going to be sitting in the cheap seats
09:21eating hot dogs with the fans.
09:23With all this going on,
09:25need to remind you to stock up on Monster Energy drinks at Smith's.
09:29There's plenty of energy aboard that Monster Energy Yamaha of Cole Davies,
09:33and the fans love it.
09:36Yeah, Hayden.
09:40How about that, Will?
09:42Guys, I'm just thinking back to the numerous amount of times that the East West showdowns
09:48that I have asked Cole Davies,
09:50what's your motivation to beat Hayden Deegan?
09:53And he'll just kind of give you the look like he knows,
09:56but then he'll give you the answer that he's supposed to give that is my focus is on my title.
10:01Well, that's gone.
10:02He's got the title.
10:03Gloves are off.
10:04And that look that he gave every time I ask that question,
10:07I think we're seeing the answer right here, JT.
10:10We might be, but Will, I'm going to take you back to Seattle
10:13when Levi Kitchen made this similar type of move on Hayden Deegan,
10:17and Hayden Deegan showed he is the fittest guy in this class by a long shot.
10:22You saw him that last lap.
10:23He reverted back to blitzing, which shows you he is here for this fight.
10:27I'm telling you right now, with five minutes and 54 seconds left,
10:30Hayden Deegan is far from done.
10:32Yeah, well, Hayden Deegan was faster on the last lap by three tenths,
10:36and he saw what Cole is doing through the whoops, James.
10:39I know you noticed that.
10:40Check out this replay.
10:41Oh, yeah, no, he comes up here, and Hayden thoughts.
10:43Cole gives a little bump.
10:45Now I think it probably got a little closer than he won.
10:47He slid in there, but he went in there for the move.
10:49I would have to say he probably needed to finish the job at that point,
10:52but look at the live shot at the bottom.
10:55Hayden Deegan has stepped it up.
10:57Get ready for the next round.
10:59Remember when they raced each other in the showdown in St. Louis?
11:02I mean, Hayden was able to match his whoop speed.
11:06It's going to come down to fitness as well right here.
11:09You've got Laffers in play.
11:11Traffic ahead.
11:12Gavin Towers is the first one they come across.
11:14Looking for a clear passage through.
11:16No worries there for Cole Davies.
11:18Yeah, I think the difficult part for Cole is not only obviously Hayden's there,
11:22but you'll probably start seeing him look back
11:25because now he's gotten into Hayden.
11:26Now the gloves are off.
11:28Hayden probably want to get it back.
11:29If I'm Hayden Deegan, I would do exactly that.
11:31I would run it in.
11:32Even if you know you can't pass, just get him nervous.
11:34Oh, boy.
11:35And you can start to see it.
11:36Here we go.
11:37And there's the payback, and it does not work out.
11:41It does not go Deegan's way.
11:43Oh, now is it.
11:44Wow.
11:46And he's still there.
11:48This race ain't over, people.
11:49Don't tune the channel.
11:51This race ain't over.
11:52Go warm up some more popcorn because it's on right now.
11:55We're getting into Laffers.
11:57Four and a half minutes plus a lap to go.
12:00Did you ever expect we'd see this?
12:03Deegan's dropped it in the sand.
12:07There you go.
12:09Now it is.
12:10Game over.
12:13Wow.
12:14Cole Davies waited a full year to get this payback on Hayden Deegan.
12:21And this is that second fall of Deegs.
12:25Down it goes in the sand.
12:27Yeah, I think he just grabbed a handful of throttle to get a good run out of that sand.
12:31And it slipped.
12:32Like it got down to the hard base.
12:34And it was all over.
12:35But crying there.
12:36Yeah.
12:37I mean, what happened was Cole Davies.
12:39You know, him getting into it.
12:40The way Hayden's been going.
12:42For Cole to kind of come up here and kind of startle that.
12:45We knew.
12:46Cole was.
12:47And Hayden was too far behind to make that move.
12:50That initial move when he went to give 37 the business.
12:53He should have been probably a half bike closer.
12:57And that pass would have worked.
12:59But, yeah, so that was miscalculated.
13:01Cole Davies' biggest fan is his 102-year-old great-grandmother who watches in New Zealand.
13:07I wonder what she thought about all of that.
13:16Oh, the bottom of the screen.
13:19So race control, we've just learned that they're checking out this pass.
13:24Come on.
13:24Let them race.
13:25Yeah.
13:26I mean, at this stage.
13:29It's the playoffs, baby.
13:30Let them go at this point.
13:32I think both those guys understand.
13:36Yeah, we'll see.
13:39How about this race?
13:40This has been epic.
13:44Is this a little warm-up for the 450 championship decider?
13:49Or is this the main event?
13:51Wow.
13:52We got a little quieter right here.
13:54We're all just sitting here watching these battles.
13:57We've got these two guys, second and third.
13:59I mean, we've had some wild 250 races here.
14:02Go back to the championship last year with Vial.
14:04Yeah.
14:05And it was in Hammaker.
14:08Right?
14:09And then Hampshire.
14:09I mean, there's always some drama here and incredible ride.
14:15Pretty good if Max Anstey can hang in there.
14:17That would be his third podium of the year.
14:20It would be a nice way to bookend the season with a win and a podium
14:23in A1 and here in Salt Lake City.
14:29Yeah, it looks good for these guys.
14:30It got a pretty big gap, almost 10 seconds, Max, over Hayde Deegan.
14:35Ken Rockson is taking one step closer towards being a 450 Supercross champion
14:45for the first time in his career as he heads out from beneath the awning
14:50and will make his way to the start line.
14:55Really positive finish to the Supercross season here too for Levi Kitchen.
14:59Really crazy what happened to his two teammates with Cameron McAdoo,
15:03Seth Hammaker going down virtually the same time in the warps.
15:07James, you and I were talking about it earlier today about Kitchen
15:12and how well he rode last week in Denver and how well he's doing right now.
15:16And he hasn't even been riding that much.
15:19He hasn't been able to.
15:20And that's a crazy thing.
15:22It's almost like at the beginning of the season when he's doing all the training,
15:25he's done better with less riding during the week.
15:28It's crazy.
15:29But like you said, the pressure, there's no pressure left.
15:32Yeah, there's no pressure.
15:33But also it shows you how talented Levi is.
15:36And I think here at Salt Lake and Denver, the way to track start,
15:40it really suits his skills.
15:42But nonetheless, the way to end the season compared to how the middle was going for him,
15:47I'm sure he's kind of happy about that.
15:50Yeah, to be his fifth podium of the year, really strong one.
15:53And that solidifies second in the championship behind Hayden Deegan.
15:56Here's the 250 East Division champion, the race leader, to end the season on a high.
16:01Just 20 seconds plus a lap to go for Cole Davies.
16:04Yeah, it's only going to be one more lap when he gets by.
16:08Yeah.
16:13Hayden Deegan is back in fourth place, 14 seconds behind his teammate.
16:19And I'm sure you won't be surprised to hear this,
16:21but Race Control did review their pass and no further action taken.
16:26Just good, hard racing.
16:28Yeah, really, what a great race by both of those guys.
16:32I mean, even with Hayden, it just shows you how much he wants to win.
16:35This championship's locked up, got everything.
16:38He could have easily just, all right, Cole's on it, but not Hayden Deegan.
16:42Look, some of the line switches, the race craft that he employed to defend from
16:49and then respond to Davies, those sequence of laps, they were unbelievable.
16:56Yeah, I mean, it shows you, but also just as impressed by this guy.
17:00This is what we thought we would see when those two, how good Cole was riding,
17:03but at the same time, really let him have it today.
17:06And the composure, he's always had really good composure while racing in the heat of the battle,
17:11this guy right here.
17:12It's very impressive at a young age.
17:15So, unfortunately, the season is going to be bookended for Hayden Deegan with non-podium results,
17:20but not for this man here.
17:22Cole Davies wins in Salt Lake City.
17:26To end the Supercross season on a massive high.
17:30Levi Kitchen comes across second.
17:32Max Anstey will be on the podium.
