00:00Ms. Rochelle with your weather forecast.
00:03Thank you, Nisha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
00:06Let's get right to your weather.
00:08Today, some of you got those showers you eagerly wanted.
00:11Let's get into it.
00:13Across Trinidad, isolated showers affected parts of the western northern range,
00:19the east-west corridor, central and southwest peninsula,
00:23while others just got some overcast skies.
00:26Meanwhile, in Tobago, a few isolated showers occurred along the main ridge,
00:31particularly between Castara and Crown Point.
00:34There were reports of street flooding in some of these areas as well.
00:39But will tonight bring some showers as well?
00:42The answer to that is yes.
00:44Expect a fair to party cloudy conditions with isolated showers
00:47and minimum temperatures of 23 degrees in Trinidad and 24 in Tobago.
00:52And talk about wetting after wetting.
00:55According to the Met Office, we will get party cloudy to occasionally cloudy intervals
01:00with a few showers and a medium chance of heavy showers or thunderstorm activity.
01:06Conditions are expected to become generally settled by late afternoon.
01:11But at night, there is a low chance of heavy showers favoring southeastern Trinidad.
01:16So with all the rain expected, you already know what to walk with.
01:21Daytime temperatures are coming in at 32 degrees in Trinidad and 30 degrees in Tobago.
01:26And keep those umbrellas with you for the next couple of days
01:30because the Met Office is forecasting party cloudy to cloudy periods
01:34with light to moderate showers with a medium to high chance
01:37of heavy showers or thunderstorm activity on Friday
01:41at maximum temperatures of 31 degrees in Trinidad and 29 in Tobago.
01:46And our good, good Saturday will be mostly cloudy
01:49with occasional light to moderate periods of rain
01:52with just a medium chance of heavy showers
01:55with maximum temperatures reaching 29 degrees in both islands.
02:00Now towards sun times in Trinidad, sunrises at 551 and 547 in Tobago
02:06and sunset at 617 in Trinidad and 614 in Tobago.
02:10And if the beach is on your mind and you're planning to go tomorrow,
02:14seas will be slight to moderated waves up to 1.5 meters in open waters
02:19and below 1 meter in sheltered areas.
02:21It's now time for your tight times.
02:34So a funnel cloud was spotted over woodlands south of Trinidad today.
02:39But did you know that funnel clouds can potentially become dangerous?
02:43Let me explain.
02:45A funnel cloud is a rotating cone-shaped column of air
02:49extended from a thunderstorm that does not reach the ground.
02:53Once it does, it is classified as a tornado.
02:56It forms when warm, moist air meets colder, drier air aloft,
03:01creating rotation and although usually smaller than tornadoes,
03:05it remains dangerous because it can quickly develop into one.
03:09Well, now you know.
03:11And before we end things, 29 years ago on this day, April 22nd, 1997,
03:18a magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck south of Tobago
03:22and shaking TNT and the Windward Islands.
03:25Six homes collapsed, over 30 buildings were damaged
03:28and estimated losses reached $18 to $25 million.
03:33That's something you now know as well.
03:35Well, that's all for weather tonight.
03:37Sport is up next with Sachin.
03:39Thank you very much, Rochelle, for that history lesson as well
03:42to come and sport.
03:42Good luck.
