In tonight's Shooting for Glory segment Curacao's unflattering lead up to the World Cup continues while the United States names their captain for the World Cup.
Transcript
00:07Tim Ream will captain the United States at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
00:12Head coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed before the Youngs face Senegal in their penultimate test
00:17before the tournament begins next month across North America.
00:21Teammates had already jokingly dubbed Ream Grandpa at the Qatar 2022 World Cup,
00:27an event at which he played in his first World Cup at age 34.
00:31Four years later, with his 39th birthday just a few months away, he's now an aging swan.
00:37Should Ream take the pitch, and he remains a strong candidate to do so,
00:41he would break the record set by the late great Fernando Clavio in 1994
00:46for the oldest World Cup player in US history.
00:51Meantime, Lawrence Shankland scored twice as Scotland's preparations for the World Cup
00:56began with an emphatic 4-1 win over 10-man Curacao at Hampton Park.
01:00In what was their final match on home soil before departing for North America,
01:06Steve Clark's side had to come from behind to earn their win.
01:09But they were helped by Jurgen Locardia's first-half red card,
01:13with Finlay Curtis, Shankland and Ryan Christie on target to cancel out Tahit Chung's 17-minute opener.
01:20Scotland made their man advantage count on the stroke of half-time through Curtis' precise finish.
01:28Steve Clark's side then got themselves in front in the 59th minute,
01:32when a short corner routine ended with Shankland sweeping Ryan Christie's ball into the box past Eloy Room.
01:39The new Rangers forward then doubled his and Scotland's tally five minutes later,
01:45with a pinpoint shot into the bottom left corner,
01:48and the win was sealed by Christie's 81st-minute penalty.
01:54Scotland still have one more pre-tournament friendly against Bolivia,
01:58before their Group C campaign at the World Cup begins against Haiti on June 14th,
02:04but they gave their supporters something to cheer in Glasgow.
02:08Let's go!
