In this week's edition of Bob Eats Boston, I head to the charming downtown of Winchester and check out the Black Horse Tavern. They're famous for their award winning chili and amazing pub food, not to mention the nachos and dessert!

00:00In this week's edition of Bob Eats Boston, we're in Winchester, Massachusetts, a great town.
00:06Very convenient because you've got the tea right over here, and like every good small town in Massachusetts, you've got
00:12to have a tavern.
00:13This is the Black Horse Tavern, and I've come here many times with my wife because it's got everything.
00:19Everything from pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads, pasta, and, what I understand, award-winning chili.
00:26So, we're going to go in there, it's still kind of nippy out, and grab a nice bowl of the
00:30Black Horse Tavern, award-winning chili.
00:33It's a busy Saturday night here at the Black Horse Tavern, so we have to wait for a table.
00:38That's fine. It'll be worth it.
00:40So, while we wait, I had a sample.
00:42I should say 16 ounces, kind of a big sample, of their Black Horse brew, and it's really good.
00:48It's kind of an amber vibe, but it's not too hoppy, right?
00:52I'm not a hoppy guy, although it is Easter weekend. Get it?
00:59So, these are the nachos. You'll notice something missing.
01:03Normally, I want a protein, whether it's hamburger, pulled pork, pulled chicken.
01:08Here at the Black Horse Tavern, they have their award-winning chili, but I'm going to save that for dinner.
01:12I'm dining with a vegetarian tonight, so we went without the protein, and that's just fine.
01:18Dip into their guacamole here.
01:20Sign of good nachos, to me, is if they don't skimp on the guac sour cream.
01:26My wife's a big fan of jalapeno peppers. I won't be touching those.
01:33Very good. Nice, still crunchy, not soggy.

01:45They did a nice job chopping those. Thank you very much for the kitchen.

01:50They give you so many chips.
01:52I mean, why wouldn't I make a little, you know, little chip dip with it?
01:58Lots of different beans. They've got black beans and a good old classic kidney in there.

02:11This is really good.
02:12On a cool night, like tonight here in early April, it is absolutely delicious.
02:17I recommend it. It's award-winning for a good reason.

02:22I asked our server, what's the best dessert that they have here at the Black Horse Tavern?
02:27She highly recommended the Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake.
02:31There's this pudding cake.
02:32Served warm.
02:33Vanilla ice cream.
02:34Whipped cream.
02:35Cinnamon.
02:36Powdered sugar.
02:37Let's go in for a bite of that.
02:39See if I can get a little ice cream on it.

03:02Here in Winchester, the Black Horse Tavern has been open since 2010.
03:07Retired police officer Covino opened it up, and they're doing gangbuster work.
