00:19A guy named Kia started this.
00:21And I'm impressed because he went from doing high tech to awesome smash burgers.

00:38September 12th of 2025 was our first day.

00:44So why smash burgers?
00:46What made you open Baba Yum?
00:48Well, I've been living in this community for about 10 years.
00:53I've been involved in all sorts of stuff.
00:55I've been a soccer coach, soccer ref.
00:56I substituted in the middle school.
00:59I taught in the middle school for a brief period.
01:01So I've been involved in the community quite a bit.
01:04I also had some unfortunate layoffs happen recently and try to get back into the workforce.
01:11Wasn't very successful.
01:12But when this place came up, I wanted to kind of bring something special back to the community.
01:18And I thought this would be a good way.

01:23What's the name?
01:23I'm Iranian by birth.
01:27My kids call me Baba.
01:29Okay.
01:29I cook around the house quite a bit.
01:31And every once in a while, I give my kids, I have two daughters and one son.
01:37I give them a taste of what I make.
01:39And one time I gave one of my girls something and she goes, Baba Yum.
01:43You know, I kind of saw that coming.

01:47Well, it is yum.
