In this week's edition of Bob Eats Boston I headed to Rowley to check out the Agawam Diner. If you love traditional American Diners, you will love the Agawam for a lot of reasons. The atmosphere is friendly, and the food is fantastic. I had a bowl of their hearty chili and a slice of their famous coconut pie. Definitely worth the trip!

00:00Hey guys, this is another edition of Bob Eats Boston. We're in Rowley, Mass, and home of the
00:10Agawam Diner. So this has been in existence since 1940. So this is their 85th anniversary.
00:18Who doesn't love a diner? And I want to thank listener Larry for recommending Agawam Diner.
00:23Let's go in and get some Eats, try their dessert, and I understand they're famous for their pies.
00:28So of course, we'll check that out. Come on in. Okay, here we go. So here comes Erica with the food.
00:36Look at that chili. So that's just diner, chili, onions on top, simple, homemade, nothing fancy.
00:43You guys make this here, right? Veggie omelet too. It's a great meal. Okay, every diner has to have a good cup of chili,
00:53especially for cold days. I like in the summertime. I don't care. I love chili.
00:58It's a great starter or a meal. This comes very simple. Just onions on top.
01:05Mmm. Homemade. It's got a kick to it. Surprising kick. I don't think I'm going to need this.
01:11Originally, I thought, you know, so dumb. But really good chili.
01:16The bean to burger ratio is amazing.
01:18I love to have these red kidney beans in there, lots of burger.
01:22And the onions give it an extra kick. This is really good.
01:26All right, so we're with Angela. Are you the manager, Angela?
01:28I am. I am kind of the, I'm the owner too with my sister Ethel, so.
01:32Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, yeah.
01:34Well, the chili's been fantastic.
01:36And Ethel makes the chili.
01:37Ethel makes the chili?
01:38Yeah, she does. She does. She's well-known with that chili.
01:40Ethel knows what she's doing. That's what I said.
01:43Okay, so you guys are also famous for your pies.
01:46We are, yeah.
01:46What is on the pie menu today?
01:48So we have banana cream, coconut cream, chocolate cream, chocolate peanut butter cream, blueberry, apple, cherry.
01:55Okay.
01:55And we have apple turnovers, raspberry turnovers, and apple squares today.
02:00Wow, that's a lot. I think I want to go with the coconut cream.
02:04Coconut cream? Sure.
02:05I've heard a lot about that.
02:06It's very good.
02:06All right, we're going to do coconut cream.
02:08Okay.
02:08Thank you, Angela.
02:09I mean, come on. This is homemade coconut cream pie.
02:13It's not store-bought.
02:14Ethel is back in the kitchen as we speak, whipping all these pies and tasty desserts up.
02:20Let's jump in.
02:23Oh, Ethel.
02:25That is so good.
02:26Rich, rich cream cheese.
02:29I mean, whipped cream on top.
02:31And the coconut is just awesome.
02:37So good.
02:38Well, we're going to see if we can take this down.
02:42I want to thank listener Larry for recommending the Agawam Diner.
02:46Absolute success.
02:47If you're in Rowley at any time, pop in.
