In this week's edition of Bob Eats Boston, I visit the original Ginger Bread Construction Company in Winchester. They are known for their incredible muffins and Ginger Bread Houses of course, I had a sample of their famous Ginger Bread Muffin and their Lindt Chocolate Chip Cookies. It was a fun and yummy, check it out!

00:00We are in Winchester today at the Gingerbread Construction Company. I figure for the holidays

00:16we got to come here. They construct gingerbread houses and a whole lot more. So let's go inside

00:24where it's nice and toasty in the Gingerbread Construction Company here in Winchester. Come

00:28on. All right, we are inside the Gingerbread Construction Company with Michelle. You're

00:32the manager? I'm the general manager. How long have you been with the company? Since we started

00:38pretty much. We started in November of 87. What was it when you first started? What was

00:44the idea? The idea was gingerbread houses, to be honest with you. The owner, he used to

00:51make them in his basement back in the day, him and his wife, and they used to sell them

00:57in the craft fairs. And then one day he said, I'm tired of working at Dunkin'. I think I

01:02want to go out on my own. So that's when we started making muffins. And so that's how the

01:07first store started making muffins and we sell coffee and gourmet cookies and of course the

01:12gingerbread houses. Is this the original store? This is the original store. It's so charming.

01:16You got that Christmas vibe going today. So it's not only muffins, but you guys have all

01:21this Christmas stuff. You have decorations. Yes. So is this a busy time of year for you

01:26guys? This is our busiest time of the year. It gets a little crazy, but it's great because

01:32we ship across the country as well. So we have our great online store and then we have

01:37another location in Wakefield. So it's pretty hopping this time of year. I can tell you, you

01:42guys are busy little elves. I want to look at your array of gingerbread muffins. What

01:47is the top seller? Gingerbread, of course. Stupid question. Ironically, it just kind of worked

01:54out that way. So people like gingerbread even in the summer? All year round. Gingerbread,

01:59people will come in here and buy five dozen gingerbread muffins. Okay, Michelle, I'm going

02:03for your top seller, the gingerbread. That it is. It has a swirl of cream cheese icing in the

02:07middle. We sell a lot of gingerbread muffins. Oh, my God. All right, I'm just going to bite

02:11into this. It tastes like Christmas. You are one happy little elf. I'm telling you, I love

02:20what I do. How could you not love what you do? Can you imagine how big I would be if I

02:24worked here? No way. I've worked since I was in high school. It works out. Do employees get

02:28free muffins? When they're here, they can have a muffin and of course they get a discount.

02:33Are you hiring? Am I hiring? We just hired for our big Christmas

02:37rush, but you never know a little later. All right, what else do you have besides muffins?

02:41We talked about your cookies. Oh, we make delicious cookies. We make this delicious. This is our

02:45most popular chocolate chunk made with Lindt chocolate. Look at the Lindt chocolate? Made

02:49from scratch. That's fancy. We get big chocolate bars from Lindt and we break them up with a rubber

02:54mallet and that's how we get the chunks of chocolate. That's the job I want. That is the best job. I mean,

02:58I'd eat some of your profits, but that's all I want. Wow. Do you have milk? Yeah, well, we definitely

03:06have milk. I can use some milk. That is so good. Oh, I'm so glad you like it. How could

03:10you not? This is awesome. Guys, come on down. Gingerbread Construction Company, they're here
