00:00Okay, let's bring in Daryl Ryder. He's brought to you by...
00:02Jive and Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
00:05Hello, Daryl.
00:06Hello, boys. What a shirt if it fits.
00:09Well, that's part of it. As a man of ample size, the shirts they usually hand out don't fit.
00:17And I usually go, do you have something in like a youth large? And just give it to one of
00:21my sons.
00:23Daryl, first off, who would you take on Thursday? Let's just start it there.
00:28Have you made your decision?
00:30Well, I've got three guys that I would like the Browns to take at six.
00:35If they walk away with any of the three, I'm happy.
00:38That's Jeremiah Love, that's Carnell Tate, that's Caleb Downs.
00:43Any of those three players, we're good.
00:47Interesting. Now, I want to play a clip for you.
00:49This is from Friday's show that I believe you were on.
00:52Here is Nick talking about the wide receivers that could possibly be there for the Browns.
00:58If you say Carnell Tate's the pick at six, I'll go, cool. I got a good player for the next
01:04five to eight years.
01:05And I'll be very content with Carnell Tate.
01:07If you say Jordan Tyson is the pick at six, I'm going to think you might have drafted the best
01:12wide receiver in this draft.
01:13And I think a lot of fans, and rightfully so, we're in Ohio State country, are going to look at
01:19this and go, Carnell Tate, I feel safe with this pick.
01:23Let's go.
01:24We're giving the quarterback a chance.
01:26And I think you'd be right to some degree.
01:27The guy that I'm going to start really having higher hopes for the offense if you draft is Jordan Tyson,
01:33be that at six, be that at 12, be that at 24.
01:35And injuries happen? We'll see.
01:38Hadn't been healthy? All these things are fair.
01:40I'm sorry.
01:41In a draft that is short on blue chip prospects, if the only thing holding you back from being a
01:47blue chipper is injuries,
01:48I think he could be – people say there's not a difference-making wide receiver in this draft.
01:53You are dead-ass wrong.
01:54His name is Jordan Tyson.
01:56And the only downside here is it sounds like he did good enough in his private workouts today
02:01that anybody fetishizing or fantasizing about him falling to you at 24-39 –
02:06It's not going to happen.
02:08No, absolutely not.
02:09So, Darrell, I mean, you were there, and I feel like Ruggie O'Dore at third base for the Guardians,
02:13where he just sends guys, but I'm like, well, let's leave runners at second and third
02:18with one out instead of trying to force it.
02:20Let me just put myself in a situation for something nice and solid here.
02:24And I understand about Jordan Tyson.
02:26I get what he's saying about Jordan Tyson.
02:28I'm not killing him for it.
02:29I totally respect his opinion on it.
02:31But I think I'd rather take the guy that I think is going to be on the field more for
02:36me in Carnell Tate.
02:38Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm trying to hit doubles here.
02:41Yeah, you know, I think that he is a good player.
02:46Everyone's oohing and aah, and there was a clip that got posted from the workout he did last week.
02:54And, look, it was a nice catch, but there was no defense on the field.
02:57Like, I mean, he jumped up and caught a football.
03:00That's what wide receivers do, okay?
03:02Let's not get all carried away over a five-second video clip.
03:07So, yeah, do I think he's – when healthy, is he a great player?
03:13They're absolutely, 100%.
03:14And it'd be a great story, you know, if the Browns did draft him.
03:18His brother plays for the Cavaliers.
03:19It'd be, you know, a fun story.
03:21That'd be awesome.
03:22But, and, you know, from the injury standpoint, the knee injury was three, four years ago.
03:29The collarbone was a couple years ago.
03:32You know, the soft tissue injuries.
03:34You know, we've seen JSN with the Seahawks.
03:37They changed his shoe size.
03:39Maybe they need to measure this kid's feet and get him in some better shoes or something like that.
03:43Darrell, they said they did a body scan on Smith and Jigman.
03:48So, it's just kind of funny, like, or they just measured his foot.
03:50What did they do?
03:52Yeah.
03:53Well, and listen, the Seahawks aren't the only team doing those body scans, Lima,
03:57to get guys in proper gear or whatnot.
04:02Go ahead.
04:03Oh, okay.
04:04I was just kind of laughing.
04:05I've never heard of a body scan to change your shoe size.
04:09Or just go to the shoe store and get the right size.
04:12Was it two sizes?
04:13It was crazy.
04:14Smaller?
04:14Yeah.
04:16Darrell, what do you think they ought to do at 24?
04:19I think that at 24, you go ahead and you prioritize your fifth offensive lineman.
04:25Andrew Barry has talked about tackles or tackles.
04:31You look at what they did on that offensive line this offseason.
04:35In fact, that's pretty much free agency in its entirety, right?
04:39Is they filled in the spots on the offensive line.
04:45So, I think that that obviously is where their focus needs to be at 24.
04:50Obviously, the draft board is going to help determine which one of those players you're
04:55going to get at that spot.
04:57But also, let's not forget, there is quite the opportunity for them not to pick at 24.
05:06Maybe they do a deal with Kansas City.
05:09Maybe they trade with Dallas.
05:11So, there could be some trade-down opportunities from six that give them a pick in front of
05:1624, which then maybe allows them to get the offensive lineman they want rather than waiting
05:23for the board to fall in their favor.
05:27Darrell, there was a big deal that involved the AFC North team yesterday, the Bengals
05:31and Dexter Lawrence.
05:32So, the No. 10 overall pick is now going from Cincinnati to the Giants.
05:38They're already sitting there at No. 5.
05:40How do you think they can steer this draft or mess, or I shouldn't say mess with the Browns
05:45because that's obviously not their intention, but overall, the stuff they do could definitely
05:50determine who's going to be available for the Browns.
05:52Well, yeah.
05:53I mean, it's going to impact.
05:54I don't really understand the grief that the Bengals are getting.
05:59You know, I mean, Dexter's 28 years old.
06:04It's not like he's 34.
06:07They did give him another year, I think $28 million or something like that on that contract,
06:12so he'll be on a contract with them for three years instead of the two remaining on his contract
06:17following the trade with the Giants.
06:20But they're a weird franchise down in Cincinnati.
06:25They make that trade, but they didn't want to keep Trey Hendrickson.
06:31Curious, interesting, however you want to describe that.
06:33But in terms of the Giants, yeah, I mean, they certainly could alter the Browns' thinking
06:43when it comes to that No. 6 overall pick.
06:45Could prompt the Browns to trade down if they take a certain player.
06:53But I think it's now six teams, including the Browns, have multiple first-round picks this year,
07:01which is something you don't see every day in these drafts.
07:04Yeah, I agree with you.
07:05I don't know why they're getting such the hell that they're getting.
07:07I understand that the Trey Hendrickson part is probably why I would probably give them hell.
07:12I would just think that they would leave that Trey Hendrickson was too old to pay that type of money.
07:17And Dexter Lawrence isn't.
07:18And it's like, well, if we were to use this first-round pick, is the player going to be –
07:22we're probably going to go defense if we're the Bengals.
07:25Then is that player going to be as good as Dexter Lawrence?
07:27The answer is more than likely no.
07:29So I can see – exactly, yes.
07:31Yeah, they drafted a guy who's an all-pro player.
07:36You know what I mean?
07:38Who's in the sweet spot of the career from an age standpoint.
07:43So considering where they were, now I think maybe if you're the New York Giants,
07:51maybe you're hoping Caleb Downs falls all the way to 10.
07:57I don't know if Caleb Downs goes that far.
07:59For me, I think Jeremiah Love and Caleb Downs are like the two best players in this draft.
08:04And then it goes down from there, and there's a chance that both of those guys
08:09don't even get drafted in the top five, which is kind of funny to me.
08:13Miles Garrett, according to his social media, looks like he already left town.
08:17So he was in Cleveland for a short period of time, went to the Cavs game, sat courtside.
08:23Is he almost going out of his way not to be involved with anything Browns-related?
08:29He does this every year, though.
08:31Like, that's the thing.
08:31This is not abnormal behavior.
08:34And so that's why I can't get all worked up or try and read into what Miles may or may
08:39not be thinking and things like that.
08:42How do you think Todd Munkin feels about it?
08:44Well, I mean, Todd Munkin's an old-school-style football coach.
08:48He's probably not thrilled about it, but I can't speak for Todd.
08:52You heard what he said when we talked to him last.
08:57You know, he kept stressing, it is voluntary, and Miles will be fine and ready.
09:02But like every football coach, you do want your players there.
09:05So the only way that Munkin was going to be able to have a face-to-face finally with Miles
09:09was to buy a ticket to the Cavs game.
09:11Yeah, well, he can get out of face-to-face in June.
09:13Like, if Miles isn't there for the June mandatory minicamp, then we can have a conversation.
09:18But this is what Miles does.
09:20He doesn't show up for the off-season program, regardless of who the coach is, and it is
09:25what it is.
09:27Darryl Ryder joining us on the show.
09:28How many games is this Cavs series going against Toronto?
09:32Probably going five.
09:34All right.
09:34Are you just trying to be nice about it, or do you think that they can really sweep and
09:38you just don't want to be writing checks that your mouth can't cash?
09:41No, I have covered enough playoff series in my life that just expecting sweeps is not something
09:49I do.
09:49I think that...
09:50Ball-knower.
09:51Ball-knower.
09:51Certified ball-knower Darryl Ryder.
09:53That's somebody who has lived it, seen it, experienced it, Darryl.
09:56Throwing his experience around, my gosh.
09:58Well, no, I've seen a lot of stuff in almost three decades.
10:03I've seen teams go from looking like they're a champion in the making to just falling flat
10:08on their face in the next game.
10:10Like, this stuff happens.
10:11I think they'll win tonight.
10:13They'll go to Toronto 2-0.
10:15Game three is the one I'm a little...
10:16I was nervous about Saturday's game, but they handled their business and they played well
10:22enough to win.
10:24James Harden talked about after the game how he didn't think that they played all that
10:27well, but neither did Toronto.
10:30Toronto's going to make some adjustments.
10:31But game three, I think, Toronto hasn't hosted a playoff game, I don't think, since they
10:36won the NBA championship.
10:37That atmosphere will be electric north of the border, and maybe they get that one.
10:41But there is in no way, shape, or form am I worried whether or not the Cavaliers are
10:46winning this series.
10:46Let's just put it that way.
10:47I thought James Harden, for the ones that haven't been around, I thought James Harden proved
10:52exactly why he's the difference, why you made that trade on Saturday.
10:54Yeah, 100%.
10:55He was sensational.
10:57Holy waltz.
10:57Ten assists, the passing was just on point.
11:01I love Donovan Mitchell's aggressiveness, going to the basket.
11:04Hopefully he stays healthy enough to keep that approach up, not only getting to the basket,
11:11but as he got there, he was able to spray it out a couple of times to some open guys.
11:16They got the bigs involved early.
11:17I really like the approach and the game plan on Saturday.
11:21Hopefully they're able to replicate it three more times in this series.
11:24Do you believe people should be forced to wear the shirt at Cavs games?
11:27Forced?
11:28No, I don't think you should be forced to wear it.
11:29There was somebody, there's a listener who wanted people removed for not wearing the
11:33shirts.
11:33Oh, come on.
11:34Like, look, I'll admit, you know, San Antonio last night, the atmosphere was awesome,
11:38seeing all the fans wearing the different colored shirts and all that.
11:41It was great.
11:43Yes, would it be nice if every Cavs fan would put on the t-shirts and would that look cool?
11:48Absolutely.
11:49But forcing people to do something, no.
11:52Come on.
11:53I have more to say about this later on.
11:55Kicking them out, too.
11:56I'm getting killed for this.
11:57I'm getting killed.
11:58Yeah, like kicking them out if they don't wear, like, come on, what are we doing here?
12:01But I think that's an internet thing and not a real thing.
12:03Yeah, have you seen the prices of these tickets?
12:06No, they're expensive tickets.
12:07Right, exactly.
12:08Now, they're not as expensive as Toronto because, as you said, this is our fifth time going
12:12around on this where this is their first.
12:14So you're paying, like, $90 or $100 just to get in up there in Toronto.
12:18Daryl Ryder joining us on the show.
12:22Daryl, Evan Mobley needed that game badly.
12:24I want to know, hey, are you paying attention now to this Orlando series against the Pistons?
12:29Because that was a bit of a shock yesterday.
12:31That was not a real close game.
12:32Oh, yeah, and look, I said this yesterday on my show.
12:37I thought Pistons Magic had the chance to be a pretty good rock fight where it could go
12:42six or seven games.
12:43And for all the folks that are caught up in whether or not the Cavaliers are going to
12:47sweep the Raptors or not, if this thing goes five games, that's not necessarily a bad thing
12:52for the Cavs.
12:52They need on-the-floor reps with each other, too, okay?
12:56And do you really want them sitting around for a week and a half waiting for Detroit and
13:00Orlando to settle matters here?
13:03So, also, interesting situation in Orlando.
13:06The players want their coach fired, yet they win the play-in, and then they come out in
13:10game one and they slap around the Pistons the way they did.
13:13So, yeah, I think that that Detroit-Orlando series is going to be a lot more competitive
13:19than Cavs-Raptors.
13:21Daryl, thank you so much for the time.
13:23All the best.
13:24We will talk to you on Friday after round one of the 2026 NFL Draft.
13:31We'll get you here live on the fan.
13:34Yep.
13:35We'll have a couple new Cleveland Browns.
13:36Look forward to it.
13:37Daryl Reiner.
13:38And he's brought to you by Owen.
13:39Shive and Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
13:42Outstanding stuff from Daryl.
