00:16year for Shador and that if he doesn't play this year like he's he never has the chance according
00:22to John has a chance to be the guy again I disagreed for a multitude of football reasons
00:27but you know what you're the bronze insider let me ask you if he don't start this year if he
00:32don't
00:32play much this year could that be it for Shador to you um no because I mean it does take
00:39some
00:39quarterbacks a few years for things to click in the NFL so I don't think that it's uh the end
00:46if he
00:47doesn't win this quarterback competition or doesn't play and I actually think it's gonna be a moot point
00:51because I do believe he will play at some point this year whether it's in week one or
00:57uh later in the season how confident are you that he's going to play in week one there Darryl
01:02well I I think I said the last time we had this conversation can I put it at 60 40
01:07uh leaning
01:08to Sean uh it but that's because of the Sean's experience he's gone through offseason programs
01:13before he's uh you know started more games he's going to look good in practice he looks good on
01:19Instagram we know that he looks healthy uh as well so I I I'm leaning the Sean to win the
01:26competition just because of his experience uh whereas uh even though Shador did uh finish
01:33uh the season as the starter I I just think that um you know Deshaun's going to look like the
01:40better
01:40quarterback in practice which will then uh give the Browns the uh the motivation to at least give
01:47him a chance to start out the season but again I I don't anticipate that uh that experiment is going
01:53to be a 17 game thing well Darryl uh you mentioned you know picking up the playbook and that's
02:01something that obviously everybody's gonna have to do and we as fans we just take it for granted
02:04we're like well yeah they're NFL football players they're gonna pick it up but we also go back and
02:09remember the Kyle Shanahan situation here and how much of a conversation that was and looking back
02:15it's obvious why certain players were not able to pick up the Kyle Shanahan playbook but they did say it
02:22was more complicated are we hearing anything about that level of complexity with Todd Munkins oh well
02:28they just got the playbook on Tuesday so no uh and the only guys we we got to speak with
02:34were uh
02:35on the defensive side of the ball I was really surprised uh I say this tongue-in-cheek I was
02:40really surprised they didn't roll out Deshaun Watson and Shador Sanders on Wednesday to talk to us so
02:45um you know I I think is I would have done it just to get him out of the way
02:49right I agree with
02:51you Ken but uh I think as we get a little deeper here in the offseason program uh we'll get
02:55an idea
02:56of uh you know those complexities that you're talking about Anthony uh the one thing we do know
03:02about uh Todd Munkin is he is very big on uh tailoring things uh to uh his personnel and let's
03:11also
03:11be honest about it the they don't have the full complement of personnel offensively right now
03:16we got to get through the NFL draft and see what Andrew Barry is able to add from that standpoint
03:21uh to this roster so um you know I I just like you I am curious there's going to be
03:27a mandatory
03:28minicamp right before I'm sorry a voluntary voluntary uh minicamp uh for the veterans uh prior to the
03:36NFL draft of course the mandatory minicamp isn't until the end of OTAs there uh in early June
03:42Darryl Ryder joining us on the show did you think that the Browns after what came out last night it
03:47seems that the uh Jaguars are going to move Travis Hunter to cornerback exclusively or nearly exclusively
03:53do you believe that the Browns won that trade last year or can you not claim it because one team
03:58made the playoffs and the Browns didn't no I I I think just from the the the trade aspect of
04:05it and
04:05and the player and the value I think that the Andrew Barry ended up fleecing Jacksonville I mean
04:10he did get two first round picks uh for one for a uh who was now going to be a
04:16cornerback unfortunately
04:18Travis got hurt last year and wasn't able to play out his rookie season but the fact that they're going
04:22into his sophomore year let's also be fair about this I think that him coming off that injury is what
04:28led to this decision making process for Jacksonville to have him focus mostly on one side of the ball
04:35and leave uh whatever uh contribution he'll get an opportunity to make uh offensively uh to to the
04:42trick plays well I don't know that that's the smartest thing because if if you're putting them
04:46on the field offensively you're kind of tipping your hand uh you know to teams that you know maybe
04:52you're going to run some trickeration there so I do think though that Andrew Barry won that trade
04:57ultimately uh as you recall this time uh last year Barry talked up Travis Hunter uh significantly
05:04led a lot of us to believe that that was going to be their guy at number two so word
05:09to the wise
05:10next week when we hear from Andrew Barry uh if he is uh very effusive in his praise of any
05:16player
05:17that probably means that the Browns are not interested in said player why would you be giving away the state
05:23secrets like that what are you doing Daryl what are you trying to do they're trying to have a
05:27competitive advantage over everybody else uh well you know I just want to set expectations for fans
05:33because if we hear a lot about how great Ty Simpson is I don't want anyone freaking out that they
05:38might
05:39take Ty Simpson uh during the draft fair point even though they did have men for one of the top
05:4430
05:44visits but you can't draft all the 30 players that you have they have a lot of guys in for
05:48top 30
05:48visits they have 30 of them to be exact quarterback's an interesting situation so I I guess I can't mind
05:54him for at least going to the car lot and taking a gander Daryl Ryder joining us on the show

05:59a question I want to ask you but I put a moratorium on it earlier in the show so do

06:04about you know who or are you going to do that for me to do it well because you know

06:15and I'll stop okay all right we're two weeks into the uh we're less than two weeks to the post
06:20or to
06:21the uh draft and there's some weird rumors that my co-host is getting texted and then I ask and

06:29I start getting texted like miles is going to be on the Cleveland Browns this year right
06:36uh I hesitation Daryl yeah I mean I I'm leaning yes but with what they did with that contract
06:44restructure I know what they are saying they're saying they're not trading miles Garrett but I've
06:50heard that before I had somebody who sent me something this morning and Owen got my attention
06:59about it where it's like man you might look real foolish yelling about not talking about this whole
07:04mile stuff here coming up in the next couple weeks and I got I got a little bit nervous about
07:08it yeah I
07:09I I don't know that they're going to move him anytime soon uh but um I do think that there's
07:15a real possibility uh somebody wrote this week about the the timelines maybe I think it was Albert
07:20Brewer potentially um about the timelines being off with uh where Miles is in his career where the
07:27Browns are in their roster building uh process and and I I've talked about this all off season just
07:33the the the misalignment that we have right you have this really great uh Super Bowl caliber defense
07:40and then you have an expansion team offense which I think is an insult to expansion teams it's that
07:47bad and you know um by the time you get that offense where it needs to be which I think
07:55is going to take
07:55two years uh you I I don't I'm not sold that the uh the the franchise quarterback is here it's
08:02certainly not the Sean we give Shadour the fair opportunity here to show whether or not he is or
08:08is not uh the answer there but uh odds are that question will be answered in 2027 but that rookie
08:16probably isn't going to come in and all of a sudden flip the franchise on its head and make them
08:20an
08:21immediate Super Bowl contender again these things take time for some quarterbacks and and by the time
08:26that train gets on the tracks well uh the defense is going to need a lot of work and a
08:33lot of
08:33rebuilding and you know Miles I think has a good four uh five years left in him where he's going
08:40to be
08:41able to play at this level I know folks are talking about well he's going to be 31 32 33
08:45years old but
08:46like he's not running back he's a defensive end so I think there's plenty of gas left in that tank
08:52for Miles but also at the same time he's made it very clear he wants to win uh and he
08:58wants the
08:58opportunity to make those big splash plays on the biggest stages and and I just I don't think that
09:03the Browns are there yet um and it's unfortunate they missed the runway coming out of that uh one in
09:1031 4 and 44 stretch uh the hell that they put us through there uh they did make the playoffs
09:17twice
09:17you did you know come a couple of games or I should say a couple of plays rather within the
09:22the
09:23conference championship game but there was no staying power with that and so they don't want to
09:29call it a rebuild but I'm going to call it a rebuild because that's quite frankly what it's been
09:32you win eight games in two years uh the outlook this year you're you're hoping maybe you can double
09:38that win total but like you know they're going through a a rebuild a retool here and they're
09:44just not in a position to win at the level where you know you've got a Hall of Fame defensive
09:49end who
09:50again wants to play in the postseason wants a chance to play for Super Bowl championships because that's
09:55what the great players get remembered for and he certainly doesn't want to have the Joe Thomas career
10:00right where you go into Hall of Fame without uh at least Miles got to play in a couple playoff
10:05games but
10:06you don't you don't want to go into the Hall of Fame not having the opportunity to uh put some
10:11jewelry on your hands dangerous one I got two more quick Browns ones and then I think Lyman wants to
10:15ask you about the Cavs but first one uh just for the record were you annoyed that he did not
10:20go to
10:20voluntary voluntary workouts no because he's this is just standard procedure I'm done yelling and
10:27screaming about it uh it's just he he doesn't show up I think he loses his uh workout bonus which
10:33was
10:33about a million dollars and uh your Miles Garrett making that kind of money a year I guess uh it's
10:40it's worth a million bucks not to have to go to work uh in the offseason I understand the coaching
10:46side of things I understand why some fans and you know some of you guys feel the way you do
10:52about it
10:52but again yeah I mean we we've been dealing this for the last couple of years so it's nothing out

10:59the ordinary so I'm just kind of over it at this point do you feel passionately about a player at
11:03six or would you rather trade back right now I know we got two weeks but let her ride yeah

11:07well I I I've got my eye on the the big three um uh Caleb Downs uh Carnell Tate uh
11:17Jeremiah Love
11:17I think any of those three I'd be okay with Love wow yeah uh he's a look he's a dynamic
11:24player and
11:24they need that offensively I realize they invested two picks last year in the running back room but
11:29I view him as a running back slash wide receiver I I he he you can put him anywhere on
11:35the football
11:36field and he gives you a chance uh to put points on the scoreboard we know that's a challenge for
11:40for the Browns so I I it would be hard for me to rail against that pick but I think
11:45the jackpot for
11:46Andrew Barry is all three of those guys are there and then he gets to auction off the pick and
11:52I'm not
11:52crazy about other people dictating uh you know where I'm going in my draft but also at the same
11:58time when you're in the phase that the Browns are team building wise we just got done talking about
12:03uh you know you need uh all the assets you can to rebuild that offense uh Darrell would you play
12:10anybody tonight if you are the Cavs and try to beat Atlanta uh no and I looked at the injury
12:16report and
12:17I I don't think that's going to be a problem Anthony and Donovan's out tonight so like yeah I um
12:24I have
12:25no problem with them uh setting things up so that they stay in that number four seed because I you
12:32know I'd rather see the Boston Celtics in the conference finals than the conference semifinals
12:37because I my I'm living in the fears a little bit I'll acknowledge it but if they see Boston in
12:43round two I think we know what our summer is going to be like is it living in the fears
12:46or is it just
12:47good common sense you don't want to play the best team until you have to yeah I think it's common
12:52sense you know um we saw this with LeBron uh a couple of those playoff runs where uh they weren't
12:59all that focused on you know piling up 60 wins in a season they were more focused on uh aligning
13:05themselves uh in the postseason I don't have a problem with it um and also too I'll just remind folks
13:11uh the Cavaliers NBA finals runs tend to come when they're in the 50 to 55 win range I'm just
13:18going to point that out so right now I believe they're at 51 victories so they're right in the
13:24sweet spot how optimistic are you about the playoffs now that I said they're the healthiest they've been
13:30basically all year and now they get this runway of series where they're going to be favored in the
13:37first round and potentially favored in the second round they strike me as a little bit of a Jekyll and
13:45Hyde team um they have the talent to go all the way uh they just have not had a lot
13:53of time for that
13:54talent to spend together so uh I am I confident they can get to the conference finals yes but am
14:04I
14:04worried that they could be bounced in the first two rounds yeah absolutely I definitely could see that
14:10happening again and we have to wait until next year maybe for them to break through again but then
14:16again we get into those questions about how patient will Donovan Mitchell be how patient is the front
14:20office going to be when you trade for James Harden in the middle of your season right and you know
14:25James has only so much time left in his career uh playing at the level he's playing at he's 37
14:31years
14:31old uh that that that timeline gets compressed in the uh the the pressure cooker to get there uh you
14:39know that that that builds a little bit and um you know the the pressure cooker starts probably
