00:01Daryl Ryder joins us right now. He's brought to you by Shabin Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
00:05Hello, Daryl.
00:07Coming in hot, coming up at 9.45. Of course, Daryl's always coming in hot at 8.20 on a
00:11Friday.
00:12Daryl, what do you think of the Browns record? What's the Browns record now?
00:15I said 7-10, Lima said 6-11. What say you, dangerous one?
00:19I went 8-9.
00:21Wow, why 8-9? You did one better than me, two better than Lima. Go ahead.
00:25I actually had to stop my enthusiasm last night when we played the schedule game because I flopped on six
00:35games.
00:35But, yeah, it's an interesting layout for sure, especially early on with all the road games that they're going to
00:44play.
00:44And then they have that stretch November 15th to mid-December.
00:48They're home for five consecutive weeks, four straight home games, and then their bye week before, three or four on
00:57the road to wrap things up.
00:59So, not a balanced schedule from, I guess, a travel standpoint.
01:03But the sunny side of that is they have the second fewest travel miles this coming season in the NFL.
01:10So, other than really the two trips to Florida, Jacksonville and Tampa Bay, among their longest road trips of the
01:19year.
01:19But, yeah, I look at the schedule and I just feel like there are a lot of winnable games on
01:25this thing.
01:25I totally agree with you. I absolutely totally agree with you.
01:28Like, I saw some people like 2-15, like Hayden Grove had said 2-15, and he was like dead
01:33serious.
01:34And I said, I think you're wishing.
01:35I just think maybe you just don't like the quarterback room.
01:38You don't have faith in any of them.
01:40But I think this is probably, with this schedule, and it might be, as Lima says, there's definitely teams that
01:45get close to the playoffs that aren't that good.
01:46Or they get into the playoffs and they're not that good.
01:48Maybe it's a fake 500.
01:50Maybe it's a benefit of the schedule.
01:52I don't think it's going to be that crazy.
01:54But I think the people who want to lose to get a quarterback in 2027, I don't think they're going
01:59to get their wish, man.
02:00No, I don't either.
02:01And I actually had to talk myself down to 8-9.
02:06Like I said, I got a little over-enthused early in the season there, and then I realized, okay, they're
02:12not a playoff team.
02:14I don't think they're going to have double-digit wins.
02:16So I ended up putting a couple of losses in there for the sake of putting some losses in there.
02:22But, yeah, I just, you know, I think they can split the first two games.
02:26Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, flip a coin, which one you want to take.
02:29I said they'd win week one.
02:31You know, Carolinas, I know they're coming off that playoff season, in air quotes, at 8-9.
02:38But I still don't think that they're all that great.
02:41I think they can beat the Steelers.
02:43The Jets, they should have beaten them last year.
02:45They will beat them this year, I'm convinced of.
02:49You know, Baltimore, Tennessee, things might be a little hairy there.
02:53I do believe they're going to sweep the Steelers this year for the first time in a very, very long
03:00time.
03:01You know, Cincinnati, I think they'll split with them.
03:08And, I mean, I put the Ravens down sweeping the Browns just again because I was piling up too many
03:15wins.
03:16You know, I think Atlanta's beatable, even though I have them losing to Stefanski and the Falcons.
03:22But, like, there's, man, there's some winnable games on this schedule, Ken.
03:25I'm convinced of it.
03:27So, Daryl, what are the national people getting wrong?
03:30What are you seeing that they're not seeing?
03:32You know, the Athletic did an examination of all the rosters with their modeling.
03:36They have the Browns 29th.
03:37Vegas has them tied for the fourth worst Super Bowl odds.
03:42The win total has been anywhere in the neighborhood of 5.5 to 6.5.
03:47So, why are you so high?
03:49Conversely, why are they so low?
03:51Well, because, number one, I don't think that the Browns' opposition is that great, okay?
03:56I don't feel like this is murderer's row that they're facing.
03:59That's number one.
04:00And, number two, what the Browns have done this offseason.
04:03They've rebuilt the offensive line.
04:04You've got two young wide receivers.
04:06And we're not talking fifth and sixth round wide receivers here.
04:10You know, you're talking two of your first three draft picks in this draft class, you know, wide receivers.
04:16There's Cason Concepcion, 24th overall.
04:18And then they added Denzel Boston.
04:20And maybe I'm overestimating the impact that those young men are going to have in that quarterback room.
04:27And, yes, obviously, everything hinges on not only the decision they make as far as their starting quarterback,
04:35but also just the play at the position, what they're able to get from that position.
04:41That ultimately, I think, is going to determine whether or not this team pass, fails, flips, or flops here in
04:472026.
04:49Dangerous.
04:49Daryl Ryder joining us on the show.
04:51Casey Concepcion, will he be signed by OTAs next week?
04:55I'm not really worried about it, but he's going to be signed.
04:59He's the last guy standing.
05:01All these guys are in these salary slots.
05:04There's not a whole lot that you're really negotiating here, other than maybe some bonus payouts
05:11or how the guarantees are laid out or whatever.
05:14But I'm not the least bit worried about his contract.
05:17Do you care that we – I've got to ask the real things before we start to get into conspiracy
05:22about the video here.
05:23Because I agree with you, Daryl.
05:24I agree with you, but I've got to get to the real stuff first.
05:27A bunch of 1 o'clock games and then the 8.15.
05:29Does it bother you that there's a bunch of 1 o'clock games at all?
05:31Hell no.
05:32Now, why is that, Daryl?
05:34It's all about me, Ken.
05:36It means I get to watch Sunday night football this year.
05:39What?
05:40I never really watched Sunday night football, to be frank.
05:42Well, you're also getting up at 2 in the morning.
05:45And I'm passing out by 7 o'clock.
05:47Right.
05:48You're a little busy on Sundays there, too, Ken.
05:50That's what they say.
05:51That's understandable.
05:52But, yeah, you know, look, I said this last night with Jake Volnick.
05:57This schedule does, to your point earlier about, you know, the athletic and some of the national reads on this
06:03whole schedule
06:04and where the Browns might end up in 2026.
06:06Certainly, the NFL told you how they feel about the Cleveland Browns, right?
06:1116 of the 17 games are 1 p.m. kickoffs.
06:14Your national television game is a Thursday night in October.
06:17However, let's remember, flex scheduling will begin starting in week five, I should say.
06:25So, the Browns could play themselves back into another primetime game.
06:29But they're going to have to earn that.
06:31And so, yeah, this schedule, all the 1 p.m. kickoffs on Sunday, which personally I love,
06:37that does tell you that there are very little expectations that the Browns are going to be a factor or
06:45a storyline league-wide in 2026.
06:49Does it surprise you, though, given the fame and popularity of one of your quarterbacks that's going to be battling
06:57for a starting job,
06:58does it surprise you that they wouldn't be featured at least a few times or more prominently given the fact
07:05that he's a reality TV star?
07:09No, because we don't know that he's going to start, number one.
07:13And number two, let's be real about it.
07:17There were just as many good moments as there were bad moments for him as a rookie.
07:24Well, there were way more bad moments than good.
07:25I mean, he was ranked statistically the worst quarterback in the NFL, but I get what you're saying.
07:31Yeah, so, I mean, there's just not a lot of faith there right now.
07:35And, again, they can play themselves on the national television.
07:40If they win a lot of games early, you're going to get a primetime game or two because that will
07:47become a story.
07:49But I think what the NFL is saying is to the Browns, if you want to be a story, you're
07:54going to have to earn it.
07:55Daryl Ryder joining us on the show.
07:57All right, so you believe that Shador being featured prominently in the schedule release video means that they want him
08:06to win the job or that he's going to win the job?
08:08Let's be clear here.
08:09What do you think?
08:10Well, I don't necessarily believe that.
08:12I would just say that I don't think it's an accident that he was in the video.
08:17He's obviously more marketable than Deshaun is, more popular than Deshaun is, certainly.
08:24But my whole point in saying that last night, Ken, was that – and you know this.
08:29You've been around.
08:30You've been in that building.
08:32You've actually been in parts of that building that I've not been in.
08:34They don't do anything over there by accident, okay?
08:37You know, everything is vetted top to bottom multiple times.
08:43And so I'm just saying that I don't believe in coincidences in this case.
08:48And that, you know, the fact that he was prominently featured in that little Street Fighter video that they did
08:56to debut their schedule,
08:57it was the first thing I noticed when I watched it.
09:01I thought the same thing, and I think that they want to market their team in the best way possible.
09:08Yes.
09:09And I don't think that this means he's going to win the job.
09:12I think that this means that, yes, they want him to, and certainly the ownership, wants him to win the
09:17job.
09:17I think they're going to let Todd Munkin make his decision.
09:20Yep.
09:21And whatever happens, happens.
09:22But I think – there's no I think.
09:24I know they want him to win the job.
09:26Yeah.
09:26They want him to be the starter.
09:27Yeah, and just because they want him to win the job does not mean he's actually going to win the
09:33job.
09:33Like, there's a difference there.
09:35You know, I want a lot of things in life, right?
09:38I mean, it has – so I just – like I said, when I watched that video last night, the
09:44first thing I did is I turned to Jake.
09:45I go, you aren't going to believe this, but you will believe it.
09:48Guess who's featured in the video rather prominently, and it is Shador Sanders, who I believe is going to be
09:55wearing number two this year.
09:56Well, Miles is too, and everybody said we should trade him, so I don't know what to make of that
10:01now.
10:01Well, the Browns have been –
10:03Pretty adamant they ain't trading him, so.
10:05Yeah, I don't think they're going to trade him this year, but I would watch out for next year.
10:11All right, Daryl, now there are people on this very station that will criticize you if you change your opinions
10:19on a series
10:20based on how you see the team play basketball during the series.
10:25Maybe I'm old-fashioned.
10:25I think that's okay.
10:27I don't understand how you needed to be criticized for saying that James Harden played like garbage in the first
10:31two games of the series
10:32when everybody knows that James Harden played like garbage in the first two games of the series.
10:36I'm just going to say, and I don't like to have these arguments too often,
10:39I don't think that that is the champion's pose that somebody here thinks that that is, but whatever.
10:44I would call that just stating the obvious.
10:46That's just me, though.
10:47Yeah, be that as it may, how much have you changed your tone?
10:52And, like, I've characterized it as a malaise in the city, and now I see the ticket prices for tonight,
10:57they've gone up like 250%.
10:59So, given that, do you think –
11:01It's amazing what being able to clinch a conference finals does for you, right?
11:04But are people buying in?
11:05Because to shell out that kind of money, they think it's going to happen tonight.
11:08Yeah, yeah.
11:09Well, I kind of feel like it better happen tonight.
11:11Right. They better not have to go back to Detroit on Sunday, that's for sure,
11:15because I don't know that they're winning two road games,
11:17and I want to give them all their flowers, all their props.
11:21I mean, they have flipped this series on its head, considering how this thing started.
11:25It was very ugly up in Detroit the first two games, very sloppy.
11:29Heck, even the other night it was pretty sloppy with the way they played in some stretches.
11:34I posted on X that they really picked a bad time to return to sloppy basketball
11:40early in the fourth quarter, and it started, obviously, in the first quarter as well
11:44with the six turnovers they had right out of the gate before they kind of tightened things up a little
11:48bit.
11:49And it's amazing to me how they can magically tighten things up,
11:53and I guess that's what drives me nuts, Anthony, is because if you can tighten it up,
11:59then why don't you come out with it tightened up?
12:00You know what I'm saying?
12:01Man, like, it just, it really, because they're not playing to their potential.
12:07So I think they've really got to get this thing done tonight.
12:11I think it was 2007 they fell down 0-2, won the next four, whatever, to advance.
12:18I know that they had another series where Detroit won the first two,
12:23but then came back and won the last two in the series as well.
12:27Don't want that history to repeat itself, but, yeah, I kind of feel like tonight is the night
12:32Cavaliers got to lock this thing down and set themselves up for a Game 1
12:36in the Eastern Conference Finals Sunday at Madison Square Garden.
12:39But it starts with taking care of the basketball.
12:41To me, that is the story.
12:42I know we can talk about James Harden.
12:44We can talk about Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Jared Allen, you know,
12:48Max Drews with some key contributions on both ends of the floor, right?
12:53But, to me, if the Cavaliers are going to win tonight, got to take care of the basketball.
12:58You cannot keep giving the Detroit Pistons all these extra possessions,
13:03which, by the way, they tend to turn into points, and when you're turning them over,
13:09there have been way too many empty possessions coming out of those turnovers.
13:12So, for me, the number one key tonight, take care of the basketball.
13:18Darrell, thank you very much for the time.
13:19We'll talk to you next week.
13:20Have a wonderful weekend.
13:21You too, guys.
13:23The Dangerous One, Darrell Ryder.
13:24Brought to you by Shabin Jewelers Coon's premier jewelry store.
