A video showing two traffic personnel engaging in a physical altercation in Farrukhabad has gone viral, triggering outrage and raising questions over discipline within the force.

Initial reports claimed that the clash broke out over alleged “collection” money, with one person saying ₹5,000 had been collected while the other insisted it was ₹2,800. The argument reportedly escalated into a scuffle, with both exchanging kicks and punches in public view.

However, police have refuted these claims. According to the Additional Superintendent of Police, the viral video was misleading.

Officials clarified that the incident took place near Gate No. 2 of the railway station in the Kotwali Farrukhabad area under Fatehgarh. The individuals involved were a Home Guard, identified as Ramakant Agnihotri, and a PRD jawan deployed on traffic duty.

As per the official version, 07 April 2026 around 3 pm, the PRD jawan sat on a nearby bench during duty hours, which was objected to by the Home Guard. This led to an argument that soon turned into a physical scuffle. A traffic head constable present at the spot intervened and separated the two.

Police stated that the claim of a monetary dispute is “completely false” and that the incident was a case of indiscipline during duty.

Both personnel have been removed from traffic duty, sent back to their respective departments, and departmental action has been recommended against them.
