Daylight Horror in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Woman Killed at Petrol Pump by Husband, Accused Arrested

In a shocking incident, a 27-year-old woman was murdered by her husband at a petrol pump in broad daylight in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, triggering outrage after the video of the attack went viral.

The deceased has been identified as Puja Sudam Gawande, a resident of Karmad, while the accused, her second husband Satyam Raosaheb Gawande, has been arrested by Karmad Police.

According to police, Puja was working as a petrol delivery employee at Shiv Samarth Petrol Pump on the Sambhajinagar–Jalna Road for the past one and a half months to support her two children.

On Thursday morning, she reported for duty as usual. Amid a rush of vehicles, the accused arrived at the petrol pump on a motorcycle, allegedly observed her for some time, and then suddenly attacked her.

He reportedly dragged her aside, stabbed her in the back, and then s*it her th**at in full public view. The attack happened so quickly that bystanders were unable to react in time.

Police officials, including Sub-Divisional Police Officer Puja Nangare, Inspector Samratsingh Rajput, and PSI Bharat Nikalje, rushed to the spot upon receiving information.

The accused attempted to flee towards Kachner but was soon apprehended by the police team.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Puja had earlier been married in 2017, and after her first husband’s death in 2023, she married Satyam in 2025. However, the couple reportedly had frequent disputes, and Puja had been living separately.

A friend of the victim, Chhaya Gorakwange, alleged that the accused used to assault Puja and that she had approached the police just days before the incident to file a complaint, which was allegedly not acted upon.

Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
