In a heartbreaking incident in the Bhondsi area of Gurugram, an eight-year-old boy lost his life after being run over by a school van on Wednesday morning.

The deceased child, Shivansh Tripathi, was a Class 1 student of Laburnum Public School and lived with his family in Shyam Kunj, Maruti Kunj.

According to the complaint filed by his father, Santosh Kumar Tripathi, the family hails from Ambedkar Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh and is currently residing in Gurugram.

As per the complaint, Shivansh had returned home from school around 8 am and later went to his father’s nearby grocery shop to buy chocolates. While returning home, a Maruti Eeco van belonging to a private school allegedly reversed at high speed in a reckless manner and struck the child.

The impact knocked him to the ground, and the driver reportedly ran over him, causing severe head and body injuries. Locals rushed to the spot after hearing the child’s cries and pulled him out from under the vehicle.

He was immediately taken to Medanta Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police have registered a case against the driver based on the father’s complaint and initiated an investigation into the incident.

The tragedy has sparked outrage among residents, raising serious concerns over negligent driving, especially involving school vehicles in residential areas.
