02:33there's going to be two cuts because teams are totally screwed and they just couldn't afford these
02:37high-level players and the cowboys were ready to swoop in with their three-year 60 million dollar deal

02:53you look at jordan schultz nfl insider and he said there's an expectation that a lot of nfl teams in
03:01the upcoming draft will will make this one of the more trade heavy drafts in recent memory and it's
03:09likely to occur in the top half of the first round and what have we already heard this morning
03:15that teams three four five six and seven are all maybe not open for business but they are certainly
03:24willing to listen to the potential for trades and why is that because the perceived value of this draft
03:32is in the second and third round whereas if you look ahead to mock drafts for 2027 yes they exist

03:49and that already looks like the way better draft you have a wide receiver in that draft in jeremiah
03:55smith who would smoke every wide receiver on this board now that's not to say that he'll automatically
04:02be the best player because who the hell knows but just when it comes to scouting and evaluating there's
04:07no question jeremiah smith from ohio state is a better prospect than every single wide receiver
04:15in this draft and then whether you think it's three quarterbacks in the next year's draft yeah so
04:20yeah and whether you think that is arch manning or dante more or julian saying yeah whoever exactly
04:30thank you and whoever you think it is there's going to be more quarterbacks available which
04:36theoretically that still wouldn't be what the cowboys are looking for but it would ideally push more
04:43people down the board and so you also have some emerging talent defensively that look like they could
04:50be studs going into the 2020 draft so cory you were just talking about the way the cowboys operate
04:56business-wise versus what i think what you think with so many other people think they should do
05:01business-wise are you worried at all for the sake of immediacy that the cowboys kept the pick in the
05:08weaker draft and gave up the pick in the stronger draft i realize if you had one pick here and

05:16picks in 2027 that might not rile up the fan base as much going into this season but if you

05:24to have another mediocre year and all of a sudden you had two first round picks and what looks like

09:20different so because the idea is like when you're kind of evaluating whatever draft pick it is in 2021
09:27you assign it the point value of the first pick of the next round so essentially like you would assign
09:34the pick value of the first pick of the second round because you have no idea where that pick
09:38will end up so theoretically wouldn't a 2026 first round pick have been more enticing to the jets than
09:45a 2027 and maybe it wasn't their own immediacy and maybe it wasn't a second round pick that was included
09:51or maybe it was a second round pick and i you know a third round pick or i i don't
09:56know exactly what
09:57that would have looked like but i kind of wonder if you could have like lowered that compensation just a
10:03little bit which rounds us back around to this people are talking about trading up and we'll get
10:09back to that in a second whether it's caleb downs whether it's bain mccoy whoever there are mock drafts

11:13a second round pick you need these two first round picks or two premium picks like i could see
11:20if you make the deal with cleveland and you end up with 38 or you make the deal with kansas

11:26and you end up with 9 and 29 people will think those differences are like fairly negligible but like
11:31you can't be trading two for one in this scenario because you need too many players and that's why
11:39i worry i worry i worry that they traded into the wrong draft and out of the wrong draft but

11:46it's not sexy to sell that for the cowboys if they're like hey we got pick 12 and we're feeling
11:52pretty good that this is step one to really rebuild us and having us as a powerhouse for 27 i

12:05draft and talking about how they can still move up i think they have made a colossal error in judgment

12:35is that they would sit stay still say they're moving up and then whenever they get their player

13:20we're going to have to take into consideration and there the thing about it is it's not like christian
13:24parker's not playing a defense that the rest of the league's not playing sure christian parker has
13:29a very similar defense to what a lot of other good defenses are doing and these good defenses have
13:36a swiss army knife kind of player in addition to being very good on on the front line which they
13:41have a pretty stout front line at the moment we still have some question marks on a couple different
13:46spots but you got to be better at linebacker too if they can't find that which i think they're going
13:52to have to find it in later rounds then that's where you're going to have the problem but i think
