00:00Mary Kay Cabot with news coming out of the owners' meetings.
00:03And then Andrew Siciliano also hopping in as well.
00:07He is going to join us at 1 o'clock.
00:09Mary Kay will be with us tomorrow because of the owners' meetings.
00:13She's normally on with us right now.
00:14We pushed it off, or she pushed it off.
00:16We did it together as a team to tomorrow.
00:18I don't want to throw anybody under the bus.
00:20Oh, no, the Todd Munkin lunch is going on right now.
00:22We can just say it, and Mary Kay Cabot is at the Todd Munkin lunch.
00:25Yeah.
00:25Breakfast.
00:26Whatever.
00:27Oh, see?
00:28Make sure you have your meals right.
00:30Again, whatever.
00:31Brunch?
00:32Sure, that sounds like a conference.
00:34Let's get to what's important here.
00:35So we will start with Peter Schrager of ESPN saying this.
00:40Browns head coach Todd Munkin notes that Shador Sanders has been in the building a bunch the last few months
00:45working out.
00:46Dylan Gabriel, as far as he's aware, has not.
00:52Who blames Dylan Gabriel for not coming?
00:54Gentlemen, I think that might mean happy trails.
00:57Why?
00:59Does he have to be there?
01:01What if he's been working out with his private quarterback coach and comes in in the best shape of his
01:05life and lights it up?
01:07Because you just hired a new coach, and typically those guys are in the building getting exercise in.
01:13Is anybody mad at Dylan Gabriel if he doesn't show up for non-mandatory things?
01:17Would you be?
01:18I mean, he was a starter, he got a concussion, and then he got yanked.
01:22Whether you thought he was playing well or not, isn't on you the fan.
01:25It's on the team.
01:27And Shador lives here.
01:29Dylan doesn't live here.
01:30That's true, too.
01:31Hmm.
01:32But you think he's gone now.
01:33You may be right.
01:34I'm not going to argue.
01:35Yeah, you might be right.
01:37Just tea leaf reading?
01:38That seems very happy trails to me.
01:40Okay.
01:42Which, by the way...
01:43Hopefully, by...
01:44I would guess if I'm Dylan Gabriel, I'd want the heck out.
01:47I would, too.
01:47But I'm going to throw this at you, Dan.
01:50How long have the Browns sat on third-round draft picks that didn't produce?
01:54Oh, I wouldn't be in a rush to get rid of him because he's young and cheap.
01:57Right.
01:57Let's never forget the fact that he's young and cheap.
02:00I think that plays into everything when it comes to team building,
02:03when you have a giant boulder wrapped around your neck.
02:07So, keep that in the back of your head.
02:09So, Todd Munkin in the middle of the Todd Munkin breakfast
02:11saying quarterback reps will not be divided evenly,
02:16even in the beginning.
02:17Someone will get the bulk.
02:19He said how things ended last year will be a factor,
02:22but he wasn't ready to state that Shador Sanders will start as quarterback one.
02:27What do you make of that one, Jeff?
02:29I think he's smart and has been there before.
02:32Reps can't be divided evenly.
02:35That's the same kind of thinking they got Kevin Stefanski all
02:39yelled at by fans.
02:42But that's all right.
02:43Todd Munkin's a new guy, and so he can say that,
02:45and he can not give out reps evenly,
02:47and he'll not get in trouble for it.
02:50But that's okay.
02:53And why would he say Shador Sanders is the starter?
02:56I mean, he's already said they're going to have a competition.
02:59Didn't he get the feeling when the owner spoke that
03:02Deshaun Watson's probably going to be the starter?
03:05Well, again, I'm not going to listen to the owner
03:10when he tells me who might be the starter.
03:12I'm going to listen to the head coach
03:13because I honestly think this head coach is going to do what he wants
03:17at that position because he has a lot riding on it.
03:22So does the owner.
03:24Not as much as Todd Munkin does.
03:28Jimmy's still going to make money.
03:30I'm still not.
03:31Todd Munkin's not going to necessarily be back for a second year
03:33if he doesn't get it right in year number one.
03:35Despite the fact that he has flip-flopped on his views
03:38about swing and a miss and fresh start,
03:41I would not discount what the owner's saying.
03:43I know that's cynical.
03:44I'm not discounting it.
03:46But truly, Andy, I think the head coach is going to play
03:50who he thinks is best at quarterback.
03:52Now, maybe he and the owner and Andrew Barry
03:55are all on the same page, which would be good
03:57because everybody needs a good thought partner.
04:01We all do, Jeff.
04:02We all do.
04:03So I hope they're all there together.
04:07But seriously, I hope Todd makes the decision
04:10and figures out who he wants and plays that guy.
04:14I don't disagree.
04:15Regardless of who it is.
04:16I just wonder if he's going to rotate heavy.
04:19Here's the problem I don't think we're thinking about
04:21when it comes to who gets the reps
04:23and why a quarterback, one quarterback in particular,
04:26should get the most reps.
04:27Because you have a brand new offensive line.
04:29And they are going to have to get used to
04:31whoever that said quarterback is.
04:33So as many, it may not be, we're going to sit here
04:36and talk about the reps that the quarterback did
04:38or did not get.
04:39The bottom line is, who is the quarterback
04:42with a rebuilt offensive line?
04:44And those are the guys that truly need those reps.
04:47Because if you're not in sync on the line,
04:49it doesn't matter.
04:50You're probably not going to get the ball
04:51even back to the quarterback, let alone a running back,
04:53let alone forward down the field to said wide receiver
04:57who we hope hangs on to the football.
04:59Yet we only trust the tight end who's in the second year.
05:02Would you agree with this thought?
05:04Is that a little too deep?
05:05Yeah.
05:06If you don't agree with this thought, that's fine.
05:08But I'd love your thought on my thought.
05:10Okay.
05:11Perfect world, best case scenario.
05:14Shador Sanders goes into training camp,
05:16goes into the offseason stuff,
05:18clearly looks better than everybody else,
05:21and becomes the starting quarterback.
05:24Agree because of everything I just said.
05:27It gives you a quarterback who's getting the reps,
05:29who's with an offensive line,
05:31that's learning together.
05:33It's cheap.
05:34Well, I wasn't even thinking about that.
05:37But everyone knows it.
05:39It's about chemistry.
05:41And if you don't have any chemistry on offense,
05:43you are in gigantic trouble.
05:48Pretty simple?
05:49Yeah, I'd agree with that.
05:50Okay.
05:51What else was said?
05:52What other wonderful bits and pieces?
05:54Todd Monk can acknowledge there will be a pretty big learning curve
05:58for the offensive players with new playbook terminology and et cetera.
06:02And now you've made things even harder.
06:03Yes?
06:04Oh, come on.
06:05What do you mean by that?
06:06They do that all the time.
06:07I know, but it's another wrinkle that sets you back,
06:12that you need more time to get them.
06:13Well, if they like Kevin's playbook so much,
06:15Kevin would have still been here.
06:16Of course they're going to run a new offense.
06:18It's not about running.
06:19The plays are the same, Jeff.
06:21It's the terminology.
06:22That's true.
06:23So, I don't know.
06:25All you need is sweep left and sweep right.
06:28And we're going to tell you it's coming,
06:30and you're not going to be able to stop it.
06:31And sometimes we're going to call it sweep left and sweep right.
06:34Other times we've got to make sure the other team doesn't know what we're doing
06:37because you never know.
06:38I might cut somebody, put them on another team,
06:40and now all of a sudden it's going to be student body right,
06:44student body left.
06:45Sweep Louie and sweep Ricky.
06:50Here comes Gurley and then Moe.
06:55Todd Munkin also said,
06:56and this is according to Mary Kay Cabot,
06:57at Cleveland.com and a play dealer.
06:59You can find this on her Twitter page.
07:00She said that they would like to have a full book, full back, sorry.
07:05Oh.
07:06A source said they tried to sign former Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard in free agency.
07:12Munkin said, quote, Pat is a unicorn.
07:15So keep an eye out.
07:17Browns might be bringing in a fullback.
07:20That news was out there previously, though.
07:22I love it, though.
07:23That they've made some.
07:25What's Kyle Juszczyk doing?
07:26Can we bring him home?
07:27He's making a lot of money.
07:28Can we bring Kyle home?
07:29I know he's 34 years old.
07:31He's four years past the Browns threshold.
07:32He's from Harvard.
07:33He's smart.
07:34He can figure it out.
07:34Yeah, let's bring him home.
07:35I think he deserves it.
07:37Right?
07:37Cloverleaf?
07:38Where are you, Cloverleaf?
07:39Talk to me.
07:40Don't you want him to come home?
07:42Cloverleaf High School.
07:42Well, Medina can only have four high schools.
07:46You know, real is it?
07:47Munkin said, I'm playing.
07:48And this is Andrew Siciliano.
07:50Munkin said, I'm playing starters in the preseason.
07:53I anticipate playing our guys.
07:54How much?
07:55That will be determined.
07:56So you might see the starters in the preseason as well.
07:59You could start that argument.
08:01Starters in the preseason, so they'll start playing.
08:03Yeah, we'll start that fun argument that makes no one want to put their head through a wall.
08:09What do you think of that, Jeff?
08:12Yes, no, maybe.
08:14Yes, no, and maybe.
08:16Why am I forgetting the fourth high school in Medina?
08:17I know.
08:18I'm sorry.
08:18I'm sidetracked.
08:19Sorry.
08:19I'll say it by the end of the break.
08:21Keep going.
08:21That's great.
08:22Highland.
08:23Medina.
08:25Munkin said, for the most part, he'll run the offensive.
08:27Buckeye.
08:27Yeah.
08:27Oh, Cloverleaf.
08:28Okay.
08:30He will run the offensive meetings as well, according to Andrew Siciliano.
08:33That's what Todd Munkin said at the Todd Munkin breakfast.
08:37Sounds like the D. Martin roast, if you ask me.
08:39No, that's kind of why I keep doing it.
08:40Yeah.
08:43Okay.
08:45Cool.
08:47Why do we have offensive coordinators?
08:51Why?
08:52If your head coach is going to do everything on offense, why do we bother calling someone
08:56an offensive coordinator?
08:57Just call them the offensive assistant, and they do all the dirty work so that the head
09:04coach can take credit for it.
09:06To me, it seems weird.
09:08You're not really the...
09:09Well, I guess you are.
09:09You're coordinating practice.
09:10You're coordinating things like that.
09:11I know this is minutia, but if your head coach is doing...
09:15Although, what else would your head coach be doing?
09:17Popping into meetings to make sure everyone's executing what he wants?
09:19I don't know.
09:20Minutia.
09:22Anything else?
09:24No, that pretty much doesn't.
09:26Oh, man.
09:26Andrew Siciliano is going to join us at 1220 to talk a little bit more about this, but
09:31the big headline then, out of the meetings from this morning with Todd Munkin, is that
09:37he's got a quarterback who's going to take the majority of the reps.
09:40Is that the best way to put the headline down on that?
09:43Yeah, that they're going to have a quarterback competition, and one of the quarterbacks is
09:46going to get the majority of the reps, and he will not announce which quarterback will
09:50be the one quarterback with the majority of the reps.
09:52Is it one or two?
09:54He said they're not going to have equal reps, right?
09:57Shucky-ducky.
09:58Hang on.
09:59It's equal reps.
10:00Yeah, I got it.
10:01He said there aren't going to be equal reps.
10:03Reps, reps, reps.
10:04He couldn't have four or five like he had at Georgia.
10:07Reps, reps, reps, reps, reps, reps, reps.
10:10That's good.
10:11That's good on-air banter.
10:13I mean, you're kind of going back on it.
10:15I just...
10:15Well, the way I read it didn't say that there's one guy who's going to be the guy getting
10:21all the reps.
10:22What he said was we can't have equal reps.
10:23Very kick-habit.
10:25Browns head coach Todd Munkin said the quarterback reps won't be divided evenly, even in the
10:31beginning.
10:32Someone will get the bulk of on any given day, but it can change.
10:36He said how things ended last year will be a factor, but he wasn't ready to state that
10:42Shador Sanders will start as quarterback.
10:44Exactly.
10:44Okay.
10:45So on any given day, one guy might get more reps than the other, which means he's not really
10:52going out on a limb and saying, this is our guy right now.
10:54So in other words, we don't really know anything.
10:56Stay tuned and we'll see what happens in OTAs.
10:58They're on the field April 7th.
11:00Fair enough.
