00:00The general feeling I've picked up from everybody who is out there reporting
00:06is that Shadour's looked better than Deshaun, and Dylan is opening some eyes.
00:12I wonder if the coaching staff feels the same way.
00:15So until we hear from the coaching staff, Andy, I'm going to wait for the final word.
00:19You know?
00:20I mean, they're the guys making the call.
00:22None of us are making the call.
00:24All right, so here's another part of the story that came out today,
00:28and it was right away.
00:30It was like the very first question that was fired at Todd Munkin
00:34was about his appearance on NFL Network yesterday with Cameron Wolfe, the reporter.
00:39And what came out of that story was the thought that they are going to split
00:45the first two preseason games, and as Jeff said to me when we started the show,
00:49this is a no-duh thing.
00:50But if you've got a quarterback competition, that Deshaun's probably going to start one
00:54and Shadour's going to start the other.
00:56And then he was asked about it.
00:59But first, let's backtrack.
01:01This is Cameron Wolfe on NFL Network talking about how Todd Munkin wants to play
01:09the quarterbacks in the preseason, Wolfe 2.
01:12Munkin told me that he's going to start one guy the first preseason game,
01:15the other will start the second preseason game, and at that point they will start
01:19to go upon the process of making a decision for the starter.
01:22They obviously want to have one for week one, but they are not in a rush to make
01:26this decision yet.
01:29Okay.
01:30And then today when he was asked that question, he came back and said this.
01:37Kim took a little liberties with what our conversation was like.
01:41Basically, we talked about that the quarterbacks are going to play in the preseason,
01:45and obviously if it's still a competition that time, why wouldn't you start one
01:49and start the other, and then we would go from there.
01:52That was really what the conversation was.
01:53He wasn't wrong in what we talked about, which you've all known that,
01:57that they're going to play in the preseason, and someone has to go out there
02:00for the first snap.
02:01Thus, they would be the one that starts.
02:03But at this point, we're so far from that that it's not really as important
02:08as what it kind of got made out to be.
02:13In other words, we don't know.
02:18Well, to me, it's just, I mean, Camp said, but what, I mean, he didn't say
02:23it was wrong, though.
02:25He took some liberties with our conversation.
02:27Well, it doesn't mean to me, Andy, that he quoted him verbatim.
02:31Right.
02:32I mean, if you took liberties, what does that mean?
02:34It means I didn't say that directly.
02:38Look, Todd also said if it's still a competition at that point.
02:42Let's just, okay, I'm so sick and tired of talking about which one of these guys
02:47is going to start.
02:48When you figure it out, tell us.
02:50And I hope it's ASAP, because the rest of the team on offense needs to come
02:55together, come together fast, and get better quickly, because the offense
02:59stunk last year.
03:01It stunk.
03:02And you reloaded with veteran offensive linemen who are casted away by other
03:08teams and young guys who haven't played in the NFL yet or going into their
03:13second year.
03:14You better get on the same page, and you better get on the same page fast.
03:17So figure it out quickly, please.
03:20And if you can't figure it out quickly, it means you really don't have one that's
03:23worth a hoot.
03:25Well, you're going to have to start somebody.
03:27Well, and he said, we will start somebody.
03:30But Andy, if any one of these guys, and with what Daryl said, if any one of these
03:35guys was really lighting it up, he'd already be the guy.
03:39And if two or three of them were lighting it up, we'd hear, man, do we look great
03:43at quarterback.
03:43Are you hearing that from anybody?
03:45I don't think we would have heard a peep about what Dylan Gabriel's doing if both
03:49guys were killing it.
03:50If both guys were doing great.
03:52Or one guy of the two had stepped out and just taken the job as their own and
03:58moving forward.
03:59But you also don't know where they are in the install.
04:04And you also don't know.
04:06Thursday.
04:06They're through with the install on Thursday.
04:08But what I'm saying is you don't know when you're watching somebody struggle as
04:14they try to run the offense during the install.
04:16That's not always a true indication of what it's going to look like once they hit
04:22the season.
04:23That's exactly right.
04:23Here's the other part of it, too.
04:25You're still probably trying to put the puzzle together on offensive line.
04:30Because you heard what he said about DeJuan Jones there.
04:33I mean, you have to wonder.
04:34It's starting to sound like we're putting our five best offensive linemen on the
04:39field.
04:39Which may be.
04:40Doesn't it?
04:40Doesn't it sound that way to you?
04:41Yes.
04:42And it might be DeJuan Jones over Spencer Fano to start the season.
04:45Or, as he said, we like Titus at right tackle, but if we put Titus at right
04:52guard, it's the first time we've heard that.
04:55I've mentioned it.
04:56If DeJuan looks really good at left tackle, what did Spencer Fano play all but
05:01one year of his life?
05:02Right tackle.
05:03Correct.
05:04But they also, when they drafted him, said he was the left tackle.
05:08Yes, they did.
05:11But the goal is to be able to, if you're wrong, and you feel like your best five is
05:16moving Fano over to right tackle, then that's something you might have to do.
05:21Or DeJuan, who played right tackle earlier in his life.
05:25Who's more important, though?
05:26That's the question.
05:27And by the way, if it's Dylan Gabriel, and I'm not saying that it is, but just somehow,
05:32oh, some way that ends up being it, then you've got to flip it.
05:37Then you've got to figure out what it's like for a left-handed quarterback rather than a
05:41right-handed quarterback.
05:43So now you've got all these different scenarios that are playing out.
05:47He's trying to figure out who's going to be getting, and then the other part of it, too,
05:53is you don't want to get into the whole rep argument again.
05:56I'm tired of that.
05:57You want to talk about something I'm tired of talking about?
05:59It's the rep argument.
06:01It's, oh, who got more reps here?
06:02Who got more reps here?
06:03Okay?
06:04And we know what it was last year.
06:05Again, I think the rep story from last year got completely blown out of proportion.
06:11But I was mad at the Browns for not having Shadur have the opportunity to take reps with
06:18the first-team offense the day they made him the backup quarterback.
06:22The day they told him he was number two, he needed reps.
06:25Now, that's all in the rearview mirror now, and we're talking about that.
06:28But we're not.
06:31I don't want to get into this thing in the future where, like, you didn't get enough reps.
06:35That's it.
06:36Hey, although I don't understand.
06:39Deshaun, Deshaun, how could you expect Deshaun to be the starting quarterback?
06:42He didn't get enough reps.
06:44Uncle.
06:46Uncle.
06:46It's practice time.
06:47They've got to figure out exactly what they need to do.
06:49They do need to get, if they think there's a quarterback that can go on the field in any given
06:53week,
06:53whether it's the number three quarterback, they should figure out a way to carve out a
06:57couple reps for them so that just in case something happens, like they didn't do for
07:03Sanders last year, which still aggravates me.
07:07They made him the number two quarterback, Gabriel got hurt, and how could you expect him to
07:12be ready?
07:13He's saying hello to some of the offensive linemen who he spent zero time with throughout
07:18the preseason last year and then into the right.
07:21I mean, like, that to me was insane.
07:24That was insane.
07:25Isaac is in Shaker Heights.
07:28Hey, Isaac.
07:29How are you doing today?
07:31I'm doing real well.
07:32How are you?
07:33Good.
07:34We're good.
07:34What do you think?
07:34What's up, Isaac?
07:35Good, good, good.
07:36I'm trying to get established.
07:38I'm so sick and tired of talking about the quarterback situation as well.
07:42I'm agreeing with Jeff.
07:43But I also wanted to make a comment and see what you guys think.
07:46You're talking about it a little bit.
07:48But as far as the offensive line is concerned, I'm thinking that the offensive line is younger,
07:54so evidently they're a little bit faster, a little bit more athletic.
07:57I can't wait to see how the run game looks.
08:01And I'm thinking, who's the better offensive lineman as far as run blocking to you guys?
08:06I don't know too much about any of the guys that's actually starting or playing.
08:11But do you think that more so that this offense is going to be more run-oriented or more pass
08:19-oriented?
08:19I know we don't know who the quarterback is, but we don't know anything, I guess.
08:23But what do you guys think?
08:24I would think, Isaac, that they're going to lean on Quinchon Judkins like absolute crazy.
08:29And you're going to see plenty of Dylan Sampson.
08:32Think about the offense that they ran in Baltimore.
08:34You had Lamar Jackson, a quarterback.
08:36Blessing for Todd Munkin.
08:38But who did he have at running back?
08:40Derrick Henry, one of the best running backs in NFL history.
08:43And what did they do?
08:44They gave him the football.
08:46And when he wasn't out there, they gave it to Justice Hill.
08:49And in previous years, they gave it to Keaton Mitchell, a young guy who ended up getting hurt.
08:54And I think they're going to run the ball like crazy.
08:58Okay.
08:58So they're also saying that, just so you know, just for the record, Tevin Jenkins is supposed to be a
09:02really, really, really good ground rush blocker.
09:07Does that make sense here?
09:08Okay.
09:08Yeah.
09:10So with that said, I'm thinking it has to be a little bit better than the play last year because
09:15no offense to Batoni on them because they played.
09:18I mean, they played until their age, couldn't let them play as far as any more that, you know, the
09:23way they could play because in their prime they were good.
09:26But they got old and you know what I mean.
09:29So time caught up.
09:30But now I'm anticipating and I'm excited about the offensive line.
09:35And I'm hopefully that they can actually gel and play together younger, faster, stronger, whatever.
09:41And I'm excited about this year, really.
09:44I think the Browns are going to surprise some people.
09:46Isaac, I hope you're right.
09:47Hope you're right.
09:48Thank you, Isaac.
09:49Appreciate it.
09:49Thanks, Isaac.
09:51216-474-0092.
09:52That's the number to call in.
09:54Again, we just heard from Todd Munkin.
09:56We're going through some of the things that he had to say.
09:58But I do, it does make things interesting on the offensive line if DeJuan Jones moves back into a starting
10:07spot over Spencer Fano.
10:09And do they give him time to kind of grow into the position?
