00:00920 this morning, Daniel Yafusi's gonna join us. He was at the OSU, uh, almost at spring game, Pro Day.
00:06Andrew Barry was not. I want to know where he was.
00:09Because I don't want to go ripping him like crazy if there was like an emergency or something like that.
00:13Like, he wasn't at Alabama, so I don't know where he was at.
00:16So, if I don't have all the information, guys, I can't go saying, you're lazy, you're not doing your job.
00:20I don't know yet.
00:21When I know, well, I'll save that.
00:25But it was a place where, if you can make it, you should go, because you gotta keep up appearances.
00:32It's right down the street.
00:33You are the, what do you, Ohio State's a bigger football entity than the Browns in the state of Ohio,
00:39correct?
00:39I mean, because it's, you split the state, and really, you're a quarter off the state, or a third of
00:45the way state,
00:46because there are Steelers fans in this state, but you got you, the Bengals, and the Steelers,
00:49but there's a lot of Bengals and Steelers fans, and Browns fans, or all Ohio State fans.
00:53So, you're basically the second biggest football entity in the state.
00:57You go to see the biggest football entity in the state, that's a feeder program for your football, for your
01:02team,
01:03and it just, guys, it just makes your fans feel better.
01:06It just makes your fans feel better.
01:08Yeah, even if you go there, and you don't pay attention, and you pretend to hit the stopwatch.
01:11Guys, he could go there and play Candy Crush the whole time, looking at his phone.
01:16As long as he's there, and he looks like he's kind of, sort of, interested,
01:20it's just gonna make your fan base feel better.
01:21Sending the assistant GMs, like, I got a lot of respect for Glenn and for Cat Hickman,
01:27but you're not the GM.
01:29If the GM's there, it just, it makes the fan base feel better, because they don't trust you.
01:35They trust Ohio State.
01:36They watch Ohio State on Saturdays, because that's the team that wins every single year.
01:41That's the team that makes them feel better.
01:43The Browns, a lot of it is tradition.
01:45And they want the Browns to win, but they know Ohio State's gonna win,
01:48because they have the best players, and you've taken Ohio State players recently.
01:53I know that there was that time, it almost seemed like they were against them.
01:56Right.
01:56It's a huge gap.
01:57They'll always be the first ones to tell you, like, hey, we've taken more Ohio State players
02:00than anybody.
02:01It's like, yeah, the draft's been around since 1936.
02:03They're right down the road.
02:04Let's not be silly about this.
02:06But it did seem like they were against taking Ohio State players.
02:09You've taken some guys.
02:09They've really worked out for you.
02:12It would just make your fan base feel better if you could make it to be there.
02:16But I don't know why he wasn't there, and I don't know why he wasn't at Alabama's pro day.
02:21Did they need to put out an official statement?
02:23Well, I mean, it's his personal business.
02:26I assume he had a good reason, but because of that, call me whatever you want to call me.
02:32I'm not gonna go ripping on him just yet.
02:33I think that's kind of the way a lot of meaty guys felt yesterday.
02:36It's like, well, why isn't he there?
02:37Is it a big deal?
02:39Is it not a big deal?
02:39I kept hearing that, and I go, it's a big deal that he's not there because it makes
02:43your fan base feel better.
02:43I also think, aside from that component of it, also the observational stuff.
02:49I do think any intel you can get, because, yeah, I know we talked to Kalen DeBoer yesterday,
02:56and there is a little bit of not lying necessarily because they'll lose credibility fast,
03:01and we asked them about that.
03:03But, you know, they're gonna tell you what you want to hear.
03:05But also beyond that, watch how a player handles that day, because that day is a weird day.
03:12Think about Johnny Manziel's pro day.
03:14I mean, a former president of the United States came in on a wheelchair and watched him do
03:21one of the, one of the, it was an event.
03:23I thought he was in the golf cart.
03:25Oh, a golf cart, was it?
03:26I thought he was sitting in the golf cart.
03:28They could have made, it was honestly a made-for-TV.
03:30They could have sold the rights to it.
03:31I think you're thinking of another sports movie.
03:32Dude, that's honestly what that looked like, the Manziel experience.
03:36And look, they're not all like that, but I kind of want to observe.
03:41How is he dealing with that whole ruckus?
03:44That is when, because you and I both know a major figurehead for one program that's ran
03:51pro days for a long time.
03:52But there's also plenty of other guys that you and I know.
03:55That's when the guard, like the guard's not up.
03:57That's when you kind of sit down and they will tell you exactly what they think of that guy.
04:01There are those times.
04:03They are not talking to radio show hosts.
04:05And the ones that know how to build them, they're worth their weight in gold.
04:10That's why some of these guys who are more well thought of in NFL circles who are college coaches,
04:17guys who have gotten looks in the NFL, that's why they seem to rise up so fast.
04:22Because they know what they're looking at.
04:23And they can tell them the truth.
04:24And so if you're at a pro day, you can go down there and it's like, hey, we have this
04:29conversation.
04:30And you can have it about guys who are currently working out at pro day,
04:34currently getting ready for the draft.
04:35And you can have a conversation about somebody else.
04:37Like, I know Devere Posey was on the station yesterday.
04:39He got everybody in a snit over what he was saying over Julian Sane.
04:43Because there are people who really like Julian Sane.
04:45There's people who think that Julian Sane is completely overrated because he's an Ohio State player.
04:51And when Devere Posey comes on and says he's better than Fernando Mendoza and the rest of them,
04:55well, that's Devere Posey.
04:56He's an Ohio State guy.
04:57So when you hear this from Devere Posey...
05:00Do you agree with the sentiment that Julian Sane is a higher rated, better NFL prospect as of right now
05:06than even Arch Manning and Dante Morris?
05:09Yeah, I do.
05:10I really do.
05:11I think we're really lucky to have Julian Sane just because I think he's in the savant category.
05:18Just a natural thrower.
05:19He's not physically crazy on the eyes.
05:22You know, he'll pass the height test.
05:24He's taller than you think he is.
05:25He's around 6'2", 6'3".
05:28But the throwing motion, guys.
05:30I went to the Minnesota game and I was sitting in the closed end of the shoe.
05:35And Carnell had an early deep ball.
05:39And I'm talking it was down set hut.
05:41And the thing came out.
05:43The ball just came out.
05:44I saw the ball first.
05:46And I was like, where is he going?
05:47Oh, my God.
05:48And then Carnell just runs under it.
05:50And it sounded like butter.
05:51It was just so soft.
05:52And it's like, wow, that timing, that accuracy, this ball placement.
05:58As a young guy, he hasn't even really entered, you know, beast mode yet.
06:05Like, guys, he doesn't even celebrate, you know.
06:07So he's not even at that comfortable place yet.
06:10I would take Julian Sand every day over those guys, right?
06:14He already has the skills and traits to be a pro quarterback.
06:17And to me, he's a mix of Drew Brees and Baker Mayfield a little bit.
06:21Just right in that category.
06:23So I definitely think he's a great pro prospect.
06:25So he said that, and a lot of people, when they hear that, they roll their eyes.
06:28That's a former Buckeye saying it, but he's a hell of a salesman.
06:30And maybe Julian Sand will play really, really well this year, and maybe he'll end up being right about all
06:34that stuff.
06:35But a lot of people go, whoa, easy.
06:36Well, you're going to go down to a pro day.
06:38You're going to get the straight dope from the guys who are coaching going, this is what he's doing now.
06:42This is where he needs to be in the future.
06:44And whether or not they think he can get there.
06:46And whether or not they think he is.
06:47I mean, there's been pro days where guys go and they go, if you think this guy is fixing what
06:51you're doing, you are crazy.
06:53They will tell you the absolute truth.
06:55And then they'll talk to radio show hosts and go, oh, yeah, he'll change your entire franchise around.
06:59Yeah, he'll do that.
07:00Because they're not stupid.
07:01They're usually smart in that sense.
07:03Speaking of smart, and speaking of Andrew Barry, Andrew Barry moved some things around yesterday when it came to Myles
07:08Garrett's contract.
07:09Now everybody's in a hubbub thinking Myles Garrett could end up being traded.
07:12A lot of people are trying to put two and two.
07:14And really, when it comes down to the rule changes that they're trying to get put through, maybe five and
07:18five together.
07:18Because there was some movement of the cap.
07:20Do we want to get Daryl in here?
07:21Now this is about as succinct as it can get.
07:23He can tell it better than me.
07:25Here's what the Browns did with Myles Garrett's contract yesterday.
07:28What that does, though, is it gives the Browns some flexibility.
07:32We see them do this with players all the time.
07:35Like, for instance, Denzel Ward, right?
07:37They converted, you know, part of his contract into a bonus and then go and convert his salary in late
07:49August, early September into another bonus.
07:51And that opens up salary cap space.
07:53So what this does is this gives the Browns another runway, a longer runway to do that with Myles.
08:00It's similar to with, like, Deshaun's contract and how they just convert his salary into a bonus to lower his
08:08cap figure.
08:09That's really all this is, is he's getting the same amount of money.
08:14Just the structure of when he receives that money changes a little bit.
08:20But, again, instead of them having to do this a week after the new league year, now they can do
08:26it like a week before the season begins.
08:29It makes it easier to move him.
08:32Now, there are other complications that are involved.
08:35Post-June 1st, before June 1st, all those are the things that play into it.
08:39You know, Jack Duffin brings it up from 24-7 Sports.
08:43He covers the Browns salary cap.
08:44I mean, he's almost as right as rain every single time.
08:47Says they could wait until after June 1st to trade him because he's a person who believes that this is
08:52probably to start the line of if they can trade him, they may trade him.
08:56Of course, he has to agree to something like that.
08:58But he writes, they could wait until after June 1st to trade him.
09:01There's no designation to do this in advance.
09:03It would still be a 41.09 dead cap hit, but split the 15.5 in 2026 and 25.5
09:11in 2027.
09:12The issue with waiting until June 2nd is that you miss out on 2026 draft picks, which feels unlikely.
09:19So you could always move him after and then get the 2027 draft picks because you would move him.
09:25This would be the time to move him instead of during the football season because you would possibly get a
09:30team that's trying to punch their ticket.
09:33And they may have been a fringe team and they can go one way or the other.
09:37Your hope is that they go the other way, the bad way, kind of like what we were hoping with
09:41Jacksonville this last year when we made the trade with them for the first round pick in 2026.
09:46So there's a lot of things going.
09:47I just take the temperature of the fans and I go, I think a lot of fans, they're not as
09:52angry on either side of this as they were last year.
09:56Now it was very emotional last year.
09:58You saw him on the internet.
09:59You saw him on TV.
10:00You saw him on radio, heard him on radio talking about wanting to trade.
10:04That's going to get people worked up one way or the other.
10:07This time, I think it's more, well, we saw him set the record.
10:11He's only going to be breaking his own record now if he goes for it.
10:14And I think a lot of folks are going, they only think they're going to win a handful of games.
10:18If they only think they're going to win a handful of games and we're only growing or we're dying, we're
10:20just wasting his talent here.
10:22It's not something they celebrate.
10:23I think it's something that Browns fans accept, Anthony.
10:26Well, the fact that he's only gotten a chance to play in three playoff games, he's got one sack in
10:32the postseason.
10:33And yet, when you turn on the TV, you hear about all these great pass rushers in the postseason.
10:37And it's not that Miles needs that for his legacy, but it would be a tremendous boost.
10:44If he wants to go down in history as like the best to ever do it, he's going to need
10:48some postseason opportunities.
10:50And he just isn't getting them from Cleveland.
10:53And see, this is part of it, too.
10:55I do think they're almost, at some point, it becomes irresponsible to not trade him.
11:00Because the Browns are, right now, again, when we look at this season, it's been two bad years already.
11:06It's been most of Miles' career that they've been bad.
11:10And they, I guess, sold him on a plan, right?
11:14A quarterback plan.
11:15Then they ended up taking two quarterbacks, a third and a fifth round.
11:18They brought in Kenny Pickett.
11:20Then they brought in, you know, they brought in Joe Flacco.
11:22And now Shador Sanders is starting.
11:24Do you think it's irresponsible right now?
11:26Do you think it's irresponsible right now?
11:27I honestly almost think it is because Miles is the one guy preventing you from getting the first pick in
11:32the draft.
11:32He's too good.
11:33We saw that last year.
11:34I mean, in two games at the end of the year where your quarterback didn't even play well, Shador did
11:39not play well in those final games against the Bengals and the Steelers.
11:42And they still won both of them.
11:43How many teams are winning games that their quarterback plays, like, statistically, bottom basement of the NFL?
11:49And you win those games.
11:51You have no chance to get the number one overall pick with a healthy Miles Garrett.
11:55And, you know, his prime, it does seem like his game is aging well.
11:59But eventually, his value is going to go down just because of his age and availability over time.
12:04So this is when you can still pounce and get real draft capital to rebuild this thing the way it
12:13needs to be rebuilt.
12:13So right now, it's irresponsible to not trade him.
12:15That's what you're saying.
12:16I kind of feel like it is.
12:17There's no kind of.
12:17Do you feel that way or not?
12:18Yeah, I mean, you heard what I said?
12:19All right, Lima feels it's irresponsible to not trade him right now.
