00:11:23The second is being a prisoner of one's emotions.
00:11:30We have certain emotions, especially what we call base emotions, that don't elevate a person but rather drag them down to lower levels.
00:11:42Perhaps because of our physical characteristics, we are obligated to purify our egos and discipline these emotions.
00:11:52Because Almighty Allah says in the Quran, in Surah Al-Shams, "Indeed, he who purifies himself has succeeded."
00:12:02Before, وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّهَا
00:12:05I swear by Him who created the soul and perfected it!
00:12:11فَاَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا
00:12:14God has given the soul both the potential to commit sin and the ability to refrain from sin.
00:12:24God Almighty calls the potential for sin within us "fujur" (immorality).
00:12:29The ability to avoid sin is referred to as piety (taqwa).
00:12:35And he says:
00:12:36قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا
00:12:39Whoever purifies their soul, whoever cleanses their soul, will attain salvation.
00:12:47وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا
00:12:50He who does not discipline his ego, leaves it as it is,
00:12:55He who surrenders to the stinginess of his own ego has done himself a disservice, he has lost everything.
00:13:02Therefore, the second characteristic that destroys a person, according to our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), is being overcome by one's emotions.
00:13:15So if the primary things guiding a person's life are now animalistic emotions,
00:13:24If a person becomes someone who thinks about nothing but eating, drinking, and sex,
00:13:31The Prophet (peace be upon him) stated that this is a destructive characteristic.
00:13:35Firstly, ingrained stinginess,
00:13:40The second is being a prisoner of one's emotions.
00:13:45The third is that the person is self-satisfied, conceited, or arrogant.
00:13:53The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) says, "Whoever possesses these three qualities..."
00:13:57That person is doomed.
00:14:00If he does not repent and mend his ways,
00:14:03If he meets God in this state,
00:14:07This means that this person will lose in the afterlife.
00:14:11Stinginess that has become a character trait,
00:14:14a person's pleasures,
00:14:17being a prisoner of one's emotions
00:14:18and conceited,
00:14:22arrogant,
00:14:23in today's modern terminology
00:14:25an egoistic and narcissistic personality
00:14:28If he doesn't change this situation,
00:14:31if he doesn't discipline
00:14:32and if he dies in this state
00:14:34these three features
00:14:36The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) says that it leads to the destruction of mankind.
00:14:41Therefore
00:14:42man in this world and the hereafter
00:14:45to be saved from destruction
00:14:47accustoming himself to generosity,
00:14:51giving charity
00:14:53to become a character who shares their resources
00:14:57It's very important that he makes an effort.
00:14:59Our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him
00:15:03to him on this matter
00:15:04To the Companion who asked the question, he said:
00:15:07He gave advice.
00:15:10One of the companions of the Prophet
00:15:12They came to our Prophet and said:
00:15:14O Messenger of Allah,
00:15:15I don't like death.
00:15:20from death
00:15:21I don't like it.
00:15:23This
00:15:24We can think of it like this.
00:15:27Normally, people don't like death anyway.
00:15:30Therefore
00:15:31I wonder if this Companion
00:15:32Why he disliked death
00:15:35He expressed it to our Prophet as a problem.
