03:25friend in this competition designers I will see you on the battlefield
03:45designers in case you haven't guessed you're going to play a game of paintball
03:50specifically this game is called capture the fabric the ladies are the red team
03:58and the gentleman and Marlene are the blue team it's like capture the flag your
04:04objective is to get as much fabric as you can for the challenge blue team you're
04:09going to defend your barrel of fabric against the red team's attack then we'll
04:13switch it around and the boys plus Marlene will attack the girls two of you
04:19will be armed with paintball guns four of you will have paintball grenades we
04:27have to get this fabric if we don't get the fabric we don't have anything to use
04:31you better get the fabric guys but all I can think at this moment is like this is
04:35gonna hurt like a bunch red team your time starts now I've got one job to keep these girls away

05:08it's the blue team's turn to be on the offense on your marks get set go
05:16I used to play paintball with my brother when I was a teenager nobody knows that I

06:04the material for your challenge you've just created it's what you're wearing
06:12your captured fabrics are your supplemental materials each team will create a six look mini collection
06:21that means a collection that is cohesive there are six of you in six looks you can split up these
06:28looks however you choose to do it and in Blake's case maybe he won't make anything
06:33as Merlene would say oh snap you have the rest of today for this challenge and all day tomorrow

06:55our jumpsuit
06:57designers in addition to your paintball jumpsuits there are white sheets that are blank canvases and we have paintball paint

07:12cohesion is very important all right so knock everyone's socks off I know you can do it

13:35it's beautiful
13:36there's a lot of finger paints

13:41white and blue
13:42and just having it be our own
13:44so that they still do look cohesive with the nails
13:46this will be like a french tip almost

13:53these are all the colors to choose from
13:55we decide to go with this gold ombre
13:58whatever it is will make it beautiful
14:00and it's going to give an element of pop to the whole entire look
14:04I think it's really neat that you can put different patterns on and accessorize with your nail art
14:15we've decided on the top for my look which is a sort of cape combination
14:21and brings the rest of the looks together as well

19:52I have to say I found your choosing process to be very peculiar
19:56each team was to create a six piece mini cohesive collection
20:00you also visited the Sally Beauty mobile nail studio
20:04and got the opportunity to create nail art for your models

20:47that said he will have the Tim Gunn save
20:49we also have an anonymous runway show which means we the judges do not know who designed which look
20:56all right let's start the show
21:04my look is clean fresh and crisp and I'm really happy how it turned out
21:09having a white top and having it just fade into the paint it looks really good
21:22my design aesthetic is not that wow wow wow factor it's a true representation of me and my style

21:30I think that by shrinking the jacket it really made a much larger impact
21:42my look is looking quite nice and I'm just looking at Kelly Osbon looking at my piece and hopefully liking

21:52I am extremely proud of the look considering the amount of changes I had to make

22:02I love my look because it flows
22:05I think it feels very 50s and yet feels very modern
22:09and I'm happy that we worked a pant option into a collection that is really about draping and dresses

22:46I am glad that I chose the silhouette that I'm going with

23:44I feel fine when I see my look come down the runway
23:48I can definitely see myself in it
23:50but honestly it looks a little flat

24:06my look walks down the runway
24:08and you see there's ambition in my top
24:11the collar is the waistband
24:13her teeny tiny waist actually fit that collar
24:16you can see that I'm trying to create these folds
24:18and it's not the worst look
24:20but it's not the best look
24:27I am not happy with the fabric I had to use
24:30and I'm not happy with the colors
24:33this is not cut as narrow as it should be
24:35I am just hoping that I'm safe this week
24:46it does create drama
24:48it was designed and not super basic
24:51so I'm actually feeling okay at this moment
24:54I think you pulled it off girl

25:46alright tell us about your collection
25:48and who did what
25:49this was very much a team effort from start to finish
25:53no garment was 100% started or finished by one individual
25:58from my end
25:59I worked mainly on the textile
26:02Blake did the finishing of the flowers
26:05because Blake paints flowers so much better than I do
26:08and then for my look I focused on the pants
26:13and then worked with Swapniel and actually Joseph and Edmund on the top as well
26:20for my look I constructed the coat and then Jake and Edmund dipped it
26:27and then that beautiful flower that you see to her left
26:30that's our awesome Blakey
26:31okay so our base inspiration obviously came from the 50s
26:35which is why that reference sort of follows through all of our designs
26:39but my specific design the third one
26:42the top half is made from the jumpsuit
26:44so I've deconstructed it
26:46and the bottom half is made from the supplementary fabric
26:49mine is the next look
26:51I took the entirety of the jumpsuit
26:53cut it down
26:54shrunk the top
26:56and then created the pants into a skirt
26:58and then we had some great flowers going on over here too
27:02I did the clean white fresh one the dress
27:06and then had the print on the bottom
27:07I wanted to show something a little bit more tailored that I could do
27:10no flowers on yours
27:12no I just thought it didn't need it
27:14and my look was the gown
27:15I started with the jumpsuit and I pretty much formed it to the mannequin's body as well as my model
27:21shape
27:21and I added a lot of volume and length for the bottom
27:25you guys really stepped it up this week
27:27thank you
27:28it's so clear that as a group the collaboration was there and that you enjoyed process

27:37what I like most about this collection is that you really use the material that you guys created
27:42you know I love the gown I think the gown looks beautiful it's fresh it's not an old-fashioned gown
27:48I also love this big skirt with the balloon hair set what got to me the most about your collection
27:57was that it was fun
27:59it had that element of fun and energy with the paint splatter I see the energy in each and every
28:07one of the looks
28:08but they still look very sophisticated and polished
28:11their first gown stands out to me and it's a wow
28:14I think that if she walked into any event anywhere I think that all heads would turn and I love
28:21their halter the open back also

29:22there was never a clear vision of what we were designing
29:27everyone was designing on an individual basis and personal feelings got involved and this is what came about from that

29:38you know I might have to disagree in the beginning we came together and we all had a lot of
29:44ideas
29:45I do agree that there was no
29:48clear direction
29:49Ashley you've been very quiet
29:53it's just a lot of emotions and
29:57it was just tough
29:58it was tough because I was picked last and
30:01my confidence was just gone after that
30:04because you didn't feel like anyone wanted you
30:07fashion is a ruthless business
30:09it really is and you have to have a thick skin
30:13this collection really looked like amateur hour
30:16it really did
30:17I don't know why you guys couldn't work a little bit more with the paintball material
30:22I don't know why you couldn't fix that why you had to use so much purple
30:26as opposed to the other team this feels very joyless
30:30I've seen this before the crop top high waist
30:33it's not original enough
30:36and with the second look I can tell that there's a lot of detail that went into the pleating on
30:41the top
30:42I must have taken so much time that the skirt was almost an afterthought
30:46I would also love to look at your models nails
30:49so they're white with like gold tips
30:52they're all a little bit different
