00:00of a lifetime. The winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in
00:04Marie Claire magazine, an opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com, a $50,000
00:09technology suite to create, design, and run their business from HP and Intel, and
00:14$100,000 from L'Oreal Paris to launch their line.
00:19I got spanked by Heidi and Michael, and I've learned my lesson. The hardware challenge
00:35judging with a massacre. I don't ever want to see a freaking hardware store again. The
00:39only thing that weighed heavy on my heart was I was in the bottom two with my roommate,
00:44Jessie, but someone had to go home, and I was just glad it wasn't me.
00:50At the very beginning, it was sort of intimidating because everybody's so unique and different
00:56and cool in their own way, but now you sort of really see the humanity in people.
01:03She's an old soul. Like, I mean, I'm twice her age almost, but every day we learn something
01:09new about each other that we share in common, and, you know, she feels like a friend. If
01:13she were to be in and I were to be out, I mean, I would be happy for her. So, I don't
01:17think there is, like, a hyper-competition between us. That might change.
01:22We're like the Victoria's Secret wonder bra. We lifted each other.
01:26It's really cool that the four of us are still together. I mean, the four of us have a completely
01:30different point of view. Being safe, again, just, I mean, at least I'm being consistent.
01:35That's one thing. But I was really hoping that something would have stuck out, you know,
01:40by now. What does him always say to you? Trust in your gut. Oh, my viscera. Which part
01:47of your body is that? I don't know. I was looking for my viscera for two days.
01:52Good Lord, baby. Wow, wow, child. Let's get out of here. Let's go check it out. Let's
01:59give it. Parsons, here we come.
02:01Well, there are only nine of you left. Jay, you won the last challenge, which gives you
02:15immunity, and you cannot be eliminated. The competition is getting tougher, and you need
02:20to bring your best designs to every runway. Starting with this challenge, the winner will
02:26no longer receive immunity. Anyone could go at any time. There's so much pressure at this
02:32point. You know, there's only a few of us left, and it's starting to hit everybody.
02:36Tim is going to meet you on the top of Atlas to help you channel your natural creativity.
02:43Good luck, and I'll see you on the runway. Bye. Bye.
02:48We're all thinking what's going to happen. It might be an eco-challenge. It might have
02:52something to do with Central Park or the view from the roof of Atlas. We don't know, so we're
02:56all excited to find out. Good morning, designers. Good morning. I am delighted to introduce you
03:01to Philip Carrion, celebrity hairstylist for Garnier. Nice to be here.
03:06Designers, I want you to consider where you are. There is not an environment anywhere that
03:12personifies man-made more than this one. But for this challenge, we're stepping away from
03:17the man-made. We're going back to nature. The inspiration for your design will come from
03:22one of the four natural elements. Earth, air, fire, or water. And to tell you more, I'm turning
03:30things over to Philip. At Garnier Fructis, natural elements are fused with the latest
03:35in beauty technology. Find your inspiration in the natural world, and the Garnier team
03:40will create the perfect complementary hairstyle to stand up to whatever force of nature you create.
03:45Good luck. Jay, you won the last challenge, so you get to choose any element you want.
03:50Earth, air, water, fire. Which one? Air. Air. There are now eight cards, two cards,
03:57two cards containing each of the four elements. Is that clear? So as I call your name, you'll
04:02come up and choose one of them. All right? Maya. So Maya has chosen water. Jonathan.
04:12When there's so few designers now, every decision, every cut, every shopping trip and mood is so important.
04:20Jonathan has air. It's definitely do or die time. Ben, you're next. Ben has chosen water.
04:28Mila. I'm an earth sign. My designs are not what somebody would usually equate with earth.
04:36That said, I would try to make outside the box. Anthony's on fire.
04:41Amy is on fire as well. So Emilio has earth. That means Seth Aaron, you have air.
04:52Instantly I think of happy blue . So I'm totally, like, confused.
04:57All right. Let's head back to the work room and sketch.
05:00All right, designers. You have 30 minutes to sketch. Then we're going to mood where you will have a budget of $150.
05:16I start sketching and water's just too fluid for me. So the first thing I think of are sharks.
05:22So I've decided that I'm going to do a suit. It does take extreme tailoring to, you know, put a suit together.
05:28But I still feel that I need to show them another side of my design style.
05:33I selected earth and Monique is of color. So I think I can do something to complement her skin tone.
05:43So I go with a strapless dress that I am going to create some draping and some volume.
05:49For me, this challenge may prove to be difficult because I'm just trying to work through the design to make sure that
05:57it encompasses everything I want to present. Failure is not an option at this point. So onward and upward.
06:04When I thought about water, I thought about the ocean and I thought about sirens. And sirens are kind of like vixens of the water.
06:19So my whole look is going to be based on this woman sort of like coming out of the water and she's very serene.
06:31I'm going to do a very Jonathan thing, which is creating my own textile. I'm going to sew layers of fabric together and then cut away at them at different levels to play with opacity, which gives you the impression of airiness.
06:45I want her to look like she's enveloped in a swirl of uncontrollable laughter.
06:49All right, designers, we're going off the mood.
06:58All right, designers, your time starts right now.
07:03I want to do something with kind of like a tornado-like feel to the garment by doing, you know, bold stripes and a lot of movements.
07:12Ten minutes remaining.
07:13Ten minutes remaining.
07:18I'll go with both of these.
07:19Can I get a couple yards of that?
07:21You got it.
07:22Thanks, sir.
07:27How much is this?
07:28Three yards?
07:2912 yards.
07:30Anthony, is that your gray palette?
07:32Mm-hmm.
07:33Different for you.
07:34I don't think of red when I think of fire.
07:37It kind of goes very deep for me because my pastor somebody deliberately burned his house to the ground.
07:43I thought about the remains and, like, it was dark and smoky.
07:47I'm trying to figure out fast about something.
07:49No, just be you, though.
07:50You know what?
07:51Bring this one with me.
07:53Five minutes remains.
07:55It's this green here.
07:58Okay.
08:01Oh, is it that?
08:02Is this the crinoline, Jessica?
08:03It is.
08:06All right, designers.
08:07That is time.
08:08Look at how much money I have.
08:09150.
08:10Thanks.
08:12Thank you, Mood.
08:13Thank you, Mood.
08:18I have my air concept.
08:21I'm going to do midnight.
08:22Midnight air in New York.
08:24It's perfect.
08:25It's black.
08:26There's stars.
08:27And I can do whatever I want.
08:30So, suddenly, I'm happy.
08:32Full speed ahead.
08:33My element is fire.
08:36Inspiration is really about building a structure and the inside of it is where the explosion
08:42is happening.
08:46All right, designers.
08:47You have until midnight tonight for this challenge and precious little time tomorrow.
08:52All right, take you.
08:53I think everybody is starting to get a little bit nervous because it's only a few of us.
08:58So, we really have to do better than we've done before.
09:01Even Anthony has been surprisingly quiet for a change.
09:05The concepts are a little bit ambiguous or vague in a way.
09:10And I think it just makes all of us feel really nervous and unsettled.
09:16Amy, you're awful quiet.
09:18Well, I'm doing something that's really annoying right now.
09:21The competition is getting harder, especially with managing time.
09:26And so, I need to step it up and make sure that what I'm doing, I'm capable of constructing
09:31with the amount of time allotted.
09:34I think I'm definitely taking a gamble with this challenge.
09:37Because, like, I'm doing a suit in a day.
09:42Are you as sick of being safe all the time as I am?
09:45Being safe is a big old question mark.
09:48What is it?
09:49What are they waiting to see for me that I'm not showing them?
09:51The week that I was like, I'm sick of being safe.
09:54I'm taking a chance.
09:55I was in the bottom two.
09:56Okay.
09:57You're like, no more of that.
09:58That chance didn't work.
10:01I think it's getting to the point where these designers don't think I'm a threat.
10:05And that is so untrue.
10:07They just are completely blind to the fact that I am going to win this whole contest.
10:11Coming up on Project Runway.
10:13All of the designers are in a state of panic.
10:15You got it?
10:16Everyone else is freaking out as much as I am.
10:18Make it harmonious.
10:19Ben's trousers are just awful.
10:21We are all scared to death.
10:32For this challenge, we can really do a lot because it's all about innovation.
10:36So, I'm creating kind of a unique silhouette.
10:40I'm just really nervous because it's very possible that it's not going to be well received.
10:52Hello, everybody.
10:53Hey.
10:54Hi, everyone.
10:55I have Philip Carreon with me.
10:57Hi.
10:58Hi.
10:59We're heading down to the Garnier Salon so we can do some consultations.
11:03We get to meet with Philip from Garnier for this challenge.
11:06I think the hair we're going to do is just going to take us to the next level.
11:09I want her to look like she's enveloped in laughter.
11:13I think it would be nice to do big, chunky curls.
11:16I'm going to use the flexible control just because we'll get a nice, soft, beautiful, flowing look out of her hair.
11:23I want this to feel kind of like a whirlwind.
11:26I'm going to take a little bit of this full control spray and just give you an idea because it's nice and strong.
11:32I like that nice shape.
11:34Yes.
11:35I'm out big to the point that comes accentuated way out here.
11:39It's very aerodynamic and it's defying gravity.
11:42We need to get texture into her hair.
11:44You can see it already wants to stand out a little bit.
11:47Thanks a lot.
11:48You're welcome.
11:49That's great.
11:50Hi, everybody.
11:51I'm here to check in with you and I'm going to start with Mr. Jonathan.
11:55How are you doing?
11:56My inspiration is actually the lightest side of air, which I thought to be laughter.
12:01That's a nice thought.
12:02Exactly.
12:03And so what I'm doing is I'm cutting away different levels to reveal different colors.
12:08Oh, this is created by you.
12:10All right, I'm going to let you get to work because this is really stunning.
12:14Seth Aaron, you've achieved a lot.
12:16Talk to me.
12:17So my inspiration is sitting in my apartment at night looking out at the city.
12:21I want to give it the appearance of wind.
12:24What I love about this is that, true to you, it really pushes the envelope, but it's believable.
12:32Amy.
12:33Hi, Tim.
12:34How are you doing?
12:35What I really want to do with my element is fire.
12:37To have a kind of contained chaos.
12:40Okay.
12:41So I'm pretty much creating virtually like a bowl around her.
12:45After I spoke to the hair guy, I realized that it would have been great if I created this bowl and had her hair kind of fill it.
12:53I think that would be amazing.
12:55It's a really interesting idea.
12:56I know.
12:57I have to say.
12:58And I'm just really...
12:59Here's my advice.
13:00Let this just distill within you and see where it takes you.
13:05Thanks, Tim.
13:06Thank you, Amy.
13:08Ben.
13:09Hey, Tim.
13:10You're making progress here.
13:11Talk to me about your design.
13:13All right.
13:14Well, I got the element water and the concept is inspired by great white sharks.
13:20And I'm using these kind of like fleshy tones to kind of adhere to the concept of like the anatomy.
13:27I'm worried about your work in particular because I feel like the subtleties and nuances aren't being picked up by the judges.
13:34That's why I went the route of doing a suit rather than a dresser.
13:38For this concept, this is what it really demands.
13:41Okay.
13:42Thanks, Ben.
13:44Mila.
13:45Hi.
13:46This textile is a wow.
13:48My element is earth and I decided to go with a sort of a mineral inspiration, mineral and metals.
13:55I'm doing a sleeveless jacket and I'm just trimming it with this sort of gunmetal leather.
14:00It's going over this sheer wool knit.
14:03I'm going to do it like a long turtleneck.
14:05And then pant, I'm just doing a stretch wool.
14:08I think I'm going to go with a fuller pant.
14:10It's good counterpoint to have a fuller pant.
14:12What I would be most mindful of is how it all lines up.
14:15And make adjustments accordingly so that it's just harmonious.
14:19So, Maia, what are you doing?
14:21Okay, so my element is water.
14:23I want it to look like a sea creature, like she's sort of coming out of water.
14:27I was just thinking glamorous, classy, sophisticated, modern.
14:31That's who you are.
14:32Yeah.
14:33I have every confidence you can pull this off.
14:35Maia, thank you.
14:36Thank you very much.
14:37All right, designers.
14:38It's hard for me, but I'm going to leave you for the night.
14:41Okay?
14:42Use your time well and make it work.
14:49It's modulars.
14:53These fabrics are so pretty.
14:55I like the way you lay, like it's laying team right here.
14:57Mm-hmm.
14:58You have a great shoulder line.
14:59Your scenes are hitting exactly where I want them to.
15:00Like gloves?
15:01Yeah, it's like rubber gloves, huh?
15:02We got it?
15:03We got it?
15:04We got it?
15:05We got it?
15:06You're a big part of my inspiration.
15:07I just identify with pale people.
15:08I am expressing air in my garment.
15:10I'm just worried that the judges will think I'm being too literal.
15:11All right.
15:12Let me see you walk like this.
15:13But my interpretation isn't necessarily air.
15:14It's actually laughter.
15:15Okay.
15:16We're good.
15:17Wow.
15:18Look at that.
15:19That's insane.
15:20That's insane.
15:21That's insane.
15:22And then I'll do a skirt on top of all of that.
15:23My model fitting with Monique is going amazingly.
15:24She fit my bodice beautifully and we're working on the skirt.
15:27It's so pretty.
15:28I'm enjoying the spirit of the competition now.
15:29We're good.
15:30Wow, look at that.
15:31That's insane.
15:32That's insane.
15:33And then I'll do a skirt on top of all that.
15:36My model fitting with Monique is going amazingly.
15:38She fit my bodice beautifully,
15:40and we're working on the skirt.
15:43Oh, it's so pretty.
15:44I'm enjoying the spirit of the competition now.
15:47Ben's look is a great idea.
15:50I can tell that he had a great direction,
15:53but the trousers are just awful and are not doing anything
15:56for the model's crotch.
15:58These are a little off-center.
15:59This is the first time that I've done pants,
16:01and it's a little nerve-wracking.
16:03Allison's staying positive, and that's
16:05all I can ask for right now because I
16:07don't need any more pressure.
16:10I want you to look like you're caught in a tornado.
16:12That's cool.
16:13Perfect.
16:14Can you hold this, like, up?
16:16See if your hair was filled completely in there.
16:19It would be so amazing.
16:21My shoulders are super broad.
16:23Even putting shoulder pads in it,
16:25you'll be a little bit 80s, a little Blade Runner.
16:28Pretty, pretty, pretty.
16:30OK, sweetie pie.
16:31Aw.
16:32We're going to go to Bryant Park together.
16:35See you.
16:37See you later.
16:40This is not a departure for me to use darker colors.
16:43And in case anyone didn't know, black, not only is it beautiful,
16:47it's officially presidential.
16:49Whoa, wowzers.
16:50Holy.
16:51You're color blocking the paint, aren't you?
16:53Yeah.
16:54And I like it.
16:55I actually love it.
16:56What is it?
16:57Air?
16:57Oh, no.
16:58Oh, no.
16:59Oh, no, I can just.
17:00It's a fire.
17:02Fire.
17:04You just made me feel like .
17:06My fellow designers have really taken creative liberty
17:10with this challenge.
17:11You know, I understand there are loose interpretation,
17:14but there's a lot of dark, opaque, heavy designs.
17:19It does look like that.
17:20I mean, it's like smoke or steam or.
17:22OK.
17:22No, I get it now.
17:23A couple of people are using gray and black for various elements,
17:26so it's hard to tell sometimes.
17:34All of the designers are in a state of panic at this point.
17:39You guys?
17:41Yes?
17:42I feel like everybody is behind.
17:44I spent most of the day drafting.
17:46I'm nervous about time.
17:48I still have a whole another sleeve to put together,
17:51and I have to finish the hems, but it makes me feel a little
17:55better that everyone else is freaking out as much as I am.
18:04Everyone is really pushing the envelope and really creating
18:07huge shapes and huge statements.
18:10We are all scared to death that there is no way these garments
18:15are going to get finished.
18:16I think I got a little ambitious.
18:23Everyone did, though.
18:26It's been a stressful day, because for something that I thought
18:29was going to go pretty smoothly, it's not.
18:31But everything's cut out, and I have no fabric left,
18:34and it's like I couldn't even start over if I wanted to.
18:36I just got married to my husband, Bobby.
18:39We've been together for a little over a year and a half now,
18:43and we've never been apart longer than like three days.
18:45How are you doing?
18:46I'm good.
18:47Yeah?
18:48I miss this laugh, you know, like little things.
18:53It's hard, but it's all for the right reasons.
18:57I love you.
18:58I miss you.
18:59I miss you too.
19:00Bye.
19:01Okay.
19:02Bye.
19:03Bye.
19:04Bye.
19:05Bye.
19:06Bye.
19:07Bye.
19:08Bye.
19:09Bye.
19:10Bye.
19:11Bye.
19:12Bye.
19:13Bye.
19:14Bye.
19:15Bye.
19:16Bye.
19:17Bye.
19:18Bye.
19:21Bye.
19:22Coming up on Project Runway...
19:24I'm pushing it to the last second.
19:26How much longer have you got, man?
19:27I have no idea.
19:29I'm already seeing flaws.
19:30I definitely have reasons to be concerned.
19:31Anyone else is worried as I am?
19:37I haven't felt this tired.
19:38I don't know when was the last time.
19:40You can do it, Emilio.
19:45oh this is gonna be a brutal day I have to make sure that that structure that I'm making stands
19:53I'm definitely a risk taker that's what it takes to be a true innovator you wish that you hadn't
19:59designed something as complicated if it turns out then I won't regret it if you're not willing to
20:04take that risk in the first place you're not going to be the next great American designer
20:07leave is for return is for let's make it work
20:15this is the first time in this competition I'm pushing it to the last second I don't like to
20:31actually have to cut a pair of pants with two hours to go and hope the hell they function the way they
20:37should how much long you got been I have no idea I am trying to finish as quickly as possible I still
20:44have to put sleeves into my jacket and put linings and it's not just a couple little things it's
20:49daunting I finished half an hour before everybody else did and I see Ben still has a lot to do can I
20:58offer you some help you don't yeah he's been struggling so I just wanted to be nice to him
21:04and help him okay Jay he's one of my dearest friends here and it's nice to have that support system how is
21:16everyone how do we look you look like you're in the middle of a make it work moment yes we are you can
21:23say that again I'm about to send in your models you will have an hour each to send them to the
21:28Garnier hair salon and the L'Oreal Paris makeup room it is the Garnier challenge but you do not
21:33have more time for hair use the bluefly.com wall all right everyone all right thank you
21:39usually the morning of a runway show I just have hems and pressing and I've got that plus a whole
21:59pair of pants to finish so paranoid about like making them too short you know I'm definitely feeling nervous
22:05I don't like this feeling of the fear of the unknown what do you think I haven't even gotten to the
22:12pants yet break this and make it so the splits on the outside set there in garments I just don't see
22:20women saying oh my god I would love to be seen in that clearly because his clothes can be a bit
22:26intimidating I'm definitely concerned for Amy I know she can do this design however I don't know if she had
22:34the time to engineer it she's mother earth daughter cool so we're New York City night the whole idea of wind
22:43and this is flowing
22:44I'm very nervous about the dress because it's not standing correctly at all and the hair is very messy and it's not wrapping all the way around her I definitely have reasons to be concerned right now
23:12all right designers let's go I don't know why Amy is choosing in this moment to give her model
23:22Harry she needs a narrow fair up there designers yes sir you're still in here sewing yeah details details
23:37Tim is anyone else as worried as I am everybody is in the same state of panic I don't see any other completed garments anywhere in the room I guess
23:47there's a little comfort in knowing that everybody else is panicking as well but it's still unnerving
23:52as much as I want to wow the judges I'm already seeing flaws and that's the part that worries me it's one of those challenges that just all wanted to do something that reflected us but I think we all got really ambitious on this one and just did things that
24:07may or may or may not work for us
24:09perfect
24:09designers and models we're going down to the runway right now so follow me please
24:17well this is time to just go with your gut and go 110 percent because we are at a point where everyone is strong and anyone can go home
24:26Anthony Emilio we're down
24:29coming up on project runway I didn't understand this it's wacky it's bizarre
24:45hello welcome to the runway as you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out but this challenge we asked you to create an innovative look that was inspired by the four natural elements earth air fire and water the parameters for this challenge were very broad so that you could show us the
25:15your interpretation and vision without limitation and I really look forward to seeing what you've done
25:20all right let's meet the judges first we have top American designer Michael course
25:25hey guys fashion director for Mary Claire magazine Nina Garcia
25:29hello everyone French fashion designer Roland Moray whose designs have been worn by Victoria Beckham Scarlett Johansson and Cameron Diaz
25:38welcome
25:39hello
25:41we will store your designs as they come down the runway one of you will be named the winner and one of you will be out
25:48Jay you won the last challenge which gives you immunity and you cannot be eliminated this week
25:54okay let's start the show
25:57when I see my dress walk down the runway she looks like water the ruffles are flowing really beautifully
26:03I really imagine the siren this vixen of the water and I really tried to make a look that spoke that and I'm really happy with it it's totally me
26:15my look was really strong it's bold it exuded air and just the whole idea of tornado and I just love the way it feels and the way it looks and the colors
26:27I feel proud that I did three pieces in a very short amount of time the concept was strong and I did have a sense of direction
26:39I think I stayed true to myself
26:43I love the look of my dress Christina comes down the runway like a Clydesdale she really knows how to walk and move in my clothes and that makes me so excited
26:59I feel really good about this look everything came together at the last minute I really hustled and I feel good about the pants
27:06I wanted to show them that I can work with texture and that I can work with less contrasting elements in my design
27:16my final product is
27:18absolutely breathtaking
27:20if you look under romance in the dictionary you would see a picture of this look and Carrie looks like an angel
27:27I wanted this garment to give you pure joy when you looked at this dress and I feel like I achieved that
27:37the dress comes out and it's not
27:39standing correctly at all and the hair is very messy but I think the concept is very different and unique
27:47I absolutely do think the dress expressed my voice as a designer
27:56it's a beautifully put together dress the fit is impeccable
28:00and most importantly Monique feels beautiful and strong so she can sell the dress
28:11I put down the runway exactly what I wanted to do
28:14there's no second thoughts on was it the right choice for me
28:17are the judges gonna like it
28:19I don't know what they're gonna think all I know is I love it
28:22if I call your name please step forward
28:30Anthony
28:31Emilio
28:33Jay
28:34if I have called your name
28:35congratulations your scores have qualified you to move on to the next round and cleave the runway
28:43the rest of you represent the highest and the lowest scores one of you will be named the winner
28:48and one of you will be out let's bring out your models
28:59Mila tell us about your look and your inspiration
29:01my inspiration is earth I was inspired by rocks stones minerals
29:08I've seen such ambitious work from you and suddenly you kind of threw it away on something
29:15that I think is very normal and I do see that you're continuing this geometric thing but at a
29:22certain point now I've seen the arrows I've seen the bullseye it's kind of the one trick pony
29:26I didn't understand this this is like another designer suddenly turned up and took over your
29:32body the only thing that is really interesting is the vest the pants and the sweater are just
29:37completely random pieces that you can buy in any store and I think you choose the wrong direction
29:45you should go a showpiece and you didn't make a showpiece that's what the catwalk is about
29:50it's Seth Aaron my element was air every night when I stare out in New York City it's beautiful
29:57to me so I emulated air twisting and on the back it's gusting when I think about air I don't
30:04automatically think about black leather but what you've done in one day is astonishing thank you so
30:12much she came out and I thought that she had such a great look top to toe and I just designed with a
30:18motion for this so I'm happy with it you are very true to yourself and when we see something it's
30:24very consistent coming from you and I think that's very important for a designer now the pants is this
30:30boots no this is a metallic denim and these are actually strips and on you have a new idea of
30:37tries that is really interesting some big designer will be jealous of them thank you for me that means
30:42quite a bit Maya tell us about your look and your inspiration my inspiration was water I used a
30:49stretch wool and I channeled a little bit of old Hollywood glamour with a Veronica Lake hairstyle
30:55I think the dress is chic the cowl is nice in the back that's a good look for catwalk it's easy to
31:02achieve and it's personal thanks Nina what do you think I think this is a perfectly beautiful dress
31:07actually however what worries me about you is that you are very referential it's always drawing from
31:14another designer's point of view this challenge it's Nina Ricci do you see that um well not
31:21particularly I mean I think everything that I do really represents me as what I call my own for sure
31:27but the day you put a collection of the catwalk that we say oh it's inspired by and that will destroy you
31:34with Amy my element was fire I wanted to incorporate her hair into the garment building a kind of contained
31:43chaos it looks like a cat in a baby's length she looks like she's a barmaid serving her hair like
31:50she's growing hair out of her chest it's just weird it was supposed to get rid of the hair can we just do
31:56that just dump it can I tell you something yes it's so much better without that in there it's okay
32:05guys I said much better I didn't say great I'm not impressed I'm sorry I think you got caught up in
32:11your concept you couldn't step back and say wait a second does this work or is it just plain odd is it
32:18plain bizarre you have to really analyze what's your level as a designer just achieve what you can achieve
32:25and be proud of it Ben tell us about your look and your inspiration my element was water I wanted
32:32to go in the direction of the wildlife that lives in the water the great white was the first animal
32:37that actually came into my mind and I really wanted to do a suit because I haven't done one yet I had no
32:42idea what it was other than an ill-fitting suit and now when you explain it you had to put the shark's teeth
32:49on her sleeves is that supposed to tell me oh she's a shark I will say that the hair and the makeup
32:57I get this kind of subliminally elegant shark out of it all I can think about is if you don't know how
33:06to make a suit don't make a suit it looks like the first suit you've ever made I think this is a real mess
33:14it looks to me as if she's wearing underwear over the pants it's bizarre come on Ben a jock strap
33:24pant it's wacky Ben you have made in the past some beautiful clothes do you think that this represents
33:31you as a designer I think I bit off more than I could chew Jonathan tell us about your look and your
33:37inspiration sure I started with the element of air this is my idea of laughter laughter is transparent
33:45and laughter also envelops you I started with creating my own textile I wanted to keep it in
33:50the tones that actually occur in Carrie naturally I love the fact that you played up the model's skin
33:57tone because she really has beautiful skin tone I think it's an amazing work amazing draping
34:03is quite fantastic thank you I love the textile I think her hair and makeup is definitely best in
34:10show Carrie what do you think about the dress I was in absolute awe of the sheer detail that
34:16Jonathan put into it and the fact that he took my skin tone into consideration I was very very pleased
34:22with it pale understands pale okay we've heard what you had to say we're going to have a little chat
34:29and then I'm going to call you back you can leave the runway okay let's talk about the designers with
34:39the highest scores I think the one who achieved the most is Maya that girl control from A to Z and I
34:47really like that the entire aesthetic was well done all the right choices yeah yeah but she's being
34:53inspired by something that is already done I want to see more of her I'm not sure if she knows yet who
35:00she is I'm curious to see what she will do next let's move on to Seth Aaron he just really showed in
35:09this challenge what good of a tailor he really is there was something beautiful about the back of that
35:15jacket let's go the signature his clothes talk for him you can leave the room you know is there
35:25let's move on to Jonathan the color was fantastic on her really beautiful it was so poetic the way
35:34he matched her skin tone to that blush it was perfection but it's a romantic and and that's quite
35:40beautiful but hey I'm French now let's talk about the designers with the lowest scores we had a lot of
35:50big mistakes up there like Ben for example he's never made a suit he had no idea what he was doing
35:56and that jockstrap trouser I mean come on and then you pointed out the little shark's teeth which I had not
36:02noticed that killed me he's been a good designer so this is definitely very odd for him to do
36:11let's move on to Amy this was weird she picked something that was quite frankly more ambitious
36:17than she really how to achieve she just got stuck with her concept and she ended up with a mess a really
36:25weird looking mess it's almost like she's trying too hard okay let's move on to Mila this was super
36:35boring oh my god that was kind of Mila designing an outfit for a ball walk you know what is worse than
36:42someone like Amy who's trying to step outside the box or someone who is doing a tracksuit basically to
36:49go to the mall in this challenge was like I can't do my geometry architectural white and black oops what
36:56am I gonna do now so does this mean that unless it's crisp black and white she's totally lost I mean
37:02she might be I'm not sure but she might be okay so have we made our decision I think so okay let's bring
37:11them back out the six of you represent the best and the worst one of you will be named the winner
37:27and one of you will be out
37:30Seth Aaron you're in you can leave the runway thank you
37:53Jonathan congratulations you are the winner of this challenge thank you so much thank you
38:07Mr. Murray thank you I adore your work your dress especially the top was gorgeous romantic
38:13and yes very airy you pushed yourself and it showed you can leave the runway congratulations
38:19thank you so much thank you I won winning this challenge gives me the power to get to brian
38:28park congratulations your first win okay Jonathan you're good you're headed in the right direction
38:35just keep winning now Maya you're in you can leave the runway thank you very much Mila you're in
38:46you're in you can leave the runway Ben Amy one of you will be out
38:59Ben a good suit has to be meticulous yours was an amateur mess and that jockstrap panty tail was
39:08unflattering the shark's teeth were bizarre and pretty much came back to bite you
39:14Amy you look was out there and not in a good way we encourage you all to push the envelope
39:20but the final result still has to be beautiful elegant fashion Amy
39:26you're in you're in you can leave the runway
39:45I'm sorry Ben that means you're out
39:47thank you so much for the opportunity I appreciate it
39:57even though my time is up I wouldn't have traded in for anything in the world
40:00it's a great experience I wish all of you the best you're brilliant designers Ben I feel sick
40:13we're going to miss you terribly thank you I appreciate it so I have to send you the work
40:18room to clean up your space all right this isn't the last you'll hear from me I'll be around I'm still
