00:22going on JP not much uh Nick was making fun of me earlier because I I got out for the
00:26first time
00:26on Sunday uh I went out to Sleepy Hollow and I got my ass kicked coach it didn't go well
00:31start though
00:32I know start I know but I but I I've been thinking about it all week and Nick says I
00:36need to get over
00:37it I mean you just jumped right under the honors course what are we doing here I mean you got
00:42to
00:42get loose got to get loose a little bit before you hit you back nine or front nine no front

00:45yeah oh boy that's a that's a tough start so yeah you got out that's the key that's the win

00:50out that's how I'm supposed to look at it but for some reason I just I can't and I felt
00:54bad I didn't
00:55want to tell you all week long you know you get so excited all winter long coach to get out

00:59and play and then the opportunity comes and then you just I got to be better coach you will you

01:04got to get back on the horse there's no there's no there's no stress it's early it's it's early
01:08golf it doesn't it doesn't count until uh until the end of March so you're good and now there's a

01:13to look at it doesn't count until the end of March just keep doing it kind of like how I'm

01:17take the quarterback room until they unless they had a quarterback before then all right coach let's look
01:22at the beginning of this I know you've sent me over a uh a couple of uh scouting reports here
01:28let's
01:28start with the offensive line how much better do you think the offensive line is after uh the the
01:34four additions they've made well I think they did a great job and here's here's why I think so I'm
01:38trying to explain this to people because uh they've had some uh all four of these guys have had grades
01:43up
01:44and down on PFF and other how other people grade here's what I look at when I watch them on
01:47film
01:47I see guys who understand so uh understand the game and what I mean by that is you got a
01:52guy like
01:53Browns fans and myself included have been kind of spoiled with guys like Wyatt Teller and Betonio and
01:59even Conklin when he was healthy guys that just physically knock you down and then they had Chubb which
02:05you know in the NFL you're figuring out ways how to block the seventh and eighth guy in the box
02:09the
02:09Browns didn't care they blocked everybody up front and Chubb ran through everybody so now uh they were
02:14able to do that because those guys are so physical these guys are physical but more than that they're
02:18guys who have really good feet they take good steps they understand leverage they understand uh
02:24where linebackers are supposed to be they understand fronts coverages how they're tied into the linebackers
02:29so it's a very uh smart offensive line which makes sense because Munkin not only with the skill guys but
02:35with the linemen they're week to week some weeks are going to be more gap scheme if they're facing a
02:39pressure front some some weeks they're going to be more zoned uh if they get guys who want to two
02:44gap and play the line of scrimmage so I think they've been great I I think the guys you know
02:49they're not going to wow you by vertically to spacing everybody but there's going to be a lot
02:52of guys with the hats on the defender's hats and you won't have as many run-throughs coach I think
02:57the
02:57versatility is interesting with all these guys they can play all sorts of different uh positions across
03:01the offensive line but it also then kind of begs the question of where are these guys going to play
03:05uh we had Mike Renner on yesterday he was making the case that uh Elton Jenkins could be a left
03:11tackle so give me give me the and then put DeJuan Jones in the mix give me your as of
03:15right now
03:15assuming Betonio is just retired or on a different team give me your left to right what do you got
03:22well you got to go Howard at the right tackle um then you go what Zion at one of the
03:28tackles then
03:29you go Jenkins um uh at the center um then you got to go I think you got to go
03:35DeJuan
03:35Jones at the left tackle and then I'm not sold on Tevin Jenkins yet but I like him if he
03:41stays in
03:41inside at guard I think he's got a much better chance so I'll go Tevin Jenkins at the other guard
03:46all right coach they also added Quincy Williams uh longtime NFL linebacker off the Jets here
03:52he's going to replace Devin Bush who went to sign with the Bears uh what do you make of this
03:57linebacker
03:58free agency trade for the Browns well a lot of people have uh pushed back on me because I think
04:03this was incredible first of all to get a guy that matches your scheme after replacing a guy I was
04:08really really high on Devin Bush I thought he had a great year and early in the week I tweeted
04:13out this
04:13could be a loss for both sides because Devin Bush to me played really well and he earned his money
04:19and I never take money out of people's pockets and regardless of what they do so he earned what he
04:23got
04:23but you always have to be careful when you go to a scheme that maybe doesn't fit you and this
04:28idea of
04:28these linebackers running downhill cleaning up with the defensive line kind of made the mess they
04:33made is really was really good for Devin Bush it got him a big contract now I say this without
04:38hesitation as much as I like Devin Bush if Quincy Williams um there's a lot tied into people like
04:43he got benched last year uh that's a really bad defense came back from injury there's a whole bunch
04:47of things that tie into it but this is a guy that comes off the edge very well he's very
04:51good in
04:52coverage uh better in zone coverage than man but this is the guy who plays with his hair on fire
04:56so two things are going to happen one it could be a cheaper uh a contract but it might be
05:02an
05:02upgrade and and I say that I don't say that lightly because I really like Devin Bush but this is
05:06a guy
05:07that I've broken down on film for years and I really really like him so if he can play like
05:11he has in
05:12the past not last year Browns could have themselves a steal the other thing he does is he's kind of
05:16the
05:16emotional leader and is as incredible as Carson Schlesinger was and will be it's nice to have another guy
05:22next to you that can take some of that leadership responsibility off you another guy that can put
05:27the green dot on if necessary another guy that can be the vocal guy another guy can get like guys
05:32lined
05:32up if they're struggling against uh fronts and coverages and all that kind of stuff you all the
05:37calls you have to make as a linebacker so I think that really will improve Carson even more even though
05:42I think he's going to be an all pro uh as soon as this year I think it's even going
05:45to help him so I
05:46really like and I like how fast they did it and you know I'm hard on Andrew Barry and some
05:51of the stuff
05:51he does but I thought that was we lost a guy who was really good in this scheme let's get
05:54another
05:55guy that's really good in this scheme so I like to pick up a lot yeah coach he's the only
05:58new
05:58addition to the defense uh as far as a starter is concerned as of right now when you look at
06:03this
06:03defense though are we going to have any other changes or do you feel like this is about going
06:07to be it and then you supplement through the draft well you know here's here's the thing and I think
06:13is Ronnie Hickman the answer at free safety that would be my only thing if they're going to stick
06:17with the one high hat is Ronnie Hickman the guy that you trust back there I think he tackles well
06:21I think he's played great but that position has to create more turnovers for me that position has
06:26to be the last line of defense making sure you're uh making tackles making sure you're covering over
06:31the top and man coverage if one of your guys gets a bad matchup you got to recognize those things
06:35if they think he's the guy and they tendered him then yeah I think that's pretty set however if
06:40there's a guy like Caleb Downs who's available at six uh I think you got to take a look at
06:44it
06:44because there's a guy that that now it makes the defense scary good so I don't know I think
06:50they can be done and I'm not sure they would take Caleb Downs um but if they believe in what
06:54Ronnie Hickman's doing and they want to keep um you know delp it down the box more like they have
06:59I think that defense is going to be uh out outstanding this year um early too and they're
07:04going to have to be coach um a fair amount of people who didn't like the Zion Johnson signing
07:09uh quote his uh overall 57 pff grade from uh the 2025 season which was the lowest of his career
07:19when you put on the tape for Zion Johnson what caliber guard do you think the Browns added
07:25I think they got a really good guard but again it's not a it's not a Wyatt tele guard or
07:29a Joel
07:30Petonio guard guys who just physically take the three technique and knock them backwards this is a
07:35guy that says the ball's going here I need to step with this foot make sure my pads are right
07:39uh so he's technically sound the other thing that he does at a very high level he understands
07:43what defenses are trying to do based on the front so if they come up in the forefront he knows
07:48that
07:49if there's a three technique the backer's in charge of a and you can see it on film especially with
07:53blitzes and things like that now he has struggled uh with some twists inside and some movement things
07:58but again that's getting coached up and you got to think a guy like Warhop thinks he can help with
08:02that because a lot of times when you're missing twists or you're missing uh backers run free that's not
08:08that's not athletic ability that's just understanding what what you're trying to get accomplished on the
08:11offensive side of the ball and coaches we we feel that we can correct that but I like the fact
08:16that
08:16fundamentally how sound he is how with the pad level he plays that most of the time uh the footwork
08:21he
08:22uses the idea of you know they talked about playing right and left guard I've had a lot of people
08:25talk
08:26you know you just can't make a right tackle left tackle no there's different footwork but if you
08:30understand what you're doing a double team is a double team and if you understand what you're doing you
08:34understand getting to the mic backers getting to the mic backers so there's that flexibility
08:38I think he's a really good pickup I think with Warhop uh he could be a guy that could be
08:42really
08:42good um we'll see moving forward um because I was wrong on Cornelius Lucas because he was really
08:48good in Washington and then really struggled with the Browns so obviously it's good on film now they
08:52got to come in and prove it if we see it right now three new guys on the line Johnson
08:56Jenkins Howard
08:56let's say Tevin is the right guard and DeJuan is the left tackle for right now at least uh how
09:02hard is that
09:03to make that many new additions and try to make it all work seamlessly and do it for week one
09:08well I think one of the things that people have said that I think is you got to be really
09:13really
09:13careful about is look what Chicago did what Chicago did was an outlier you know the quarterbacks who
09:18can play under six foot the linebackers who can play under six foot you know all those the outliers
09:22you've seen those guys be successful but there's very very few of them what Chicago did with their
09:26offensive line is very very rare uh those guys were good and they were good real fast so there's going
09:32to
09:32be a little bit of a learning curve now I think what helps the Browns is with with Todd Monken
09:36he's not focused on what they don't do what they do poorly he's focused on what they do well
09:41so that helps in uh what they're you know kind of minimizing uh some of their weaknesses but the
09:47thing that's really going to help them is they're going to have an identity their identity is we're going
09:51to maximize what we do well and we're going to attack what the defense does so again if it's a
09:56gap
09:56if they're if they were facing the Browns like Monken did we're going to trap them and counter them
10:01and crunch them if we're facing a team that plays a lot of scrimmage we're going to double them so
10:04it's kind of maximizing the strength and having an identity because really what an identity is for
10:10me it's not what you run it's what you can fix and that's what Monken and Warhop do well these
10:15older
10:15coaches I that's what I love about them is that they stick to what they do because they can fix
10:19it
10:19when things go wrong all right coach uh after a couple moves in free agency have uh have your
10:26thoughts on what the Browns can do at six and 24 changed yeah they have so if I was uh
10:32if you're
10:32asking me what I would do I would still take a game changer and I uh last week I heard
10:36I was uh
10:37jumped in the car and JP was like uh you you were saying about Jeremiah Love and what I mean
10:42by like
10:43guys like Jeremiah Love and guys like Caleb Downs is these are guys that change the direction of a
10:50football game so now that you've improved this offensive line if you can go out and you could get you
10:54know you know let's say Rasheed Walker you somehow that happened or whatever you get a left tackle
10:58that you're confident then I think you take the game changer at six and if you think that game changer
11:03you need an offensive guy I've seen Jeremiah Love run routes to me Jeremiah Love is a touch guy so
11:09people are like we have Judkins but don't think of him as a tailback think of a guy like Jeremiah
11:13Love
11:13as a touch guy he's a guy great hands can do multiple things we're just going to figure out which
11:18Munkin does very well players over plays how we can maximize this guy but then I if you take a
11:25guy
11:25like that or down at six then I think you've got to try to trade down and I think you've
11:29got to go
11:29get Monroe Freeling um and if you stay back then you got to take a guy like Max Iannachor from
11:34Arizona State but the more I watch Freeling and knowing how raw he is he's going to be I think
11:39a
11:39really special left tackle so maybe taking that game changer and then figuring out how to get
11:43moved down a little bit and take Monroe Freeling so if you come out of here uh you guys will
11:48get
11:48endless text from me if they went Caleb Downs and came back and got Monroe Freeling I think that's
11:53an outstanding uh early draft all right coach uh I will tell you I think JP's getting ready to
11:59burger bet you because he's got the Jones in and uh so if you want to start dreaming stuff up

12:04you got uh maybe somebody to take you up on that action oh we got some action all right you
12:09uh any
12:09any early thoughts JP what you're thinking here you can take Caleb Downs I'll take the field at number
12:14six overall that's always in play sturdy pool oh you're you're gonna give me one guy versus more
12:19than 30 pool that's like sewage water but still like I yeah that's the that's the current standing
12:23offer all right what about Caleb Downs and Monroe Freeling versus the field no because Monroe Freeling
12:29still satisfies my offensive side of the ball thing uh which I think after this after this little week
12:35here coach I feel like more and more people are going to actually go towards your game changer side of
12:39thing and they're going to move off of my uh offense and stop thinking about the defense
12:42trying to sell you coach don't buy it I know I appreciate that he's trying to he's not budging
12:47I'll give you Jeremiah Love too how about that I'll give you Caleb Downs and Jeremiah Love and I'll
12:52take the field how about this what about hold on stop you working no no no we're not doing it
12:56what about tackle or wide receiver for you no no no no quiet in the corner quiet in the corner
13:00for a
13:01second I'm just trying to help coach I I I Caleb Downs Jeremiah Love and I'll take the field
13:07if you get I'll say this we'll put it on we'll put it on night here you give me
13:10Monroe Freeling those three I'll give you the field that doesn't work all right what about you
13:15take tackle or wide receiver and then coach gets anybody else oh because if they make a trade for
13:21like AJ Brown tomorrow then all of a sudden I'm just I'm just out I'm just I'm just sitting over
13:24here just hanging out way to stand behind your scruples there Jonathan it's not standing behind
13:28my scruples uh you don't get to win burger bets which I've never done by the way that's true uh
13:33by
13:33just uh just to you know adhering to every demand that people across from me make but you don't win

13:38life by trying to turn one of our good friends I've seen you do enough of this and and what
13:42this
13:42how this works I gotta put myself in an advantageous situation and I've not done nearly nearly well
13:47enough tackle or wide receiver at six or the field is advantageous as it gets giving him Caleb Downs
13:52or Jeremiah Love and telling him to put his money where his mouth is with these game changers that's
13:56that's just giving him a one percent probability that's true what one percent one more guy one
14:01percent you think it's gonna happen you think it's Caleb Downs you think it's Jeremiah Love all right
14:05all right fine give me uh you want one who else do you feel really good about Monroe Freeling
14:10no no we're not doing that on the board that's come on what are we doing here
14:13child's play is what we're doing coach keep working on it but don't agree to anything until
14:18you're back on with us because he is no this is a very shiesty move in your corner is all
14:22that's
14:23happening here and I don't appreciate it I don't I don't appreciate what's happening
