00:00We've talked a lot about this Mary Kay Cabot report.
00:02It's a bombshell report.
00:03It's taken over the internet.
00:04It's taken over everything.
00:05And I get it.
00:05I understand why.
00:06Deshaun has the inside edge over Schnoor.
00:08It's going to make a lot of people angry.
00:10It made me angry all throughout the day.
00:11I was angry for a couple reasons, though, Coach.
00:14One, I didn't think this was right to do this right now.
00:17The idea that they're already publicly putting out there,
00:19and when you use Mary Kay to do it,
00:21that you're publicly putting out there what you believe is going on right now
00:25and everything else.
00:27And I wanted Schnoor to have a better chance.
00:29And did I think this was basically a game of three-card money?
00:32Yeah, I tend to believe that.
00:34Am I erring on the side of I just feel like this was the same thing
00:40that happened last year with Dylan Gabriel and Schnoor Sanders
00:42where they told us the entire time that Dylan Gabriel and Schnoor Sanders,
00:46this big competition and everything like that,
00:48but ultimately the game was always rigged for Dylan to win that out
00:51even though in practice we saw things that were very different.
00:54And so there's just a part of me that is living through that right now
00:57and accepting the idea of things that people like Albert Breer told us for months,
01:01that Deshaun Watson had a real shot to be the quarterback,
01:04Deshaun Watson has a real chance to be the quarterback week one.
01:06It just gets validated today in a way that I think is upsetting to a lot of fans
01:10in a way that I just don't want to go down, but this is my reality.
01:14Well, I will say this, my first and the coach's part of me just says this.
01:18When I watched him play the other day, I sent out some messages
01:21and then there was some backlash on some of the things you're saying about the past.
01:25And the point being, the reason I think he can, is that he looks healthy right now.
01:28All the things with injuries, I will absolutely agree with.
01:32And that's something he has to fight through.
01:33It's easy to throw without pads, all those things.
01:35I know it's been a long time since he's done that.
01:37The point being is that I really just hope the best quarterback plays.
01:41And that tells me, him being in front right now tells me that they're doing it right.
01:47And people, how does that work?
01:49Well, because of things I told you.
01:50He's just done it longer.
01:52Regardless, even if Shador was much better than him,
01:56let's say he was obviously two or three years from now, he's just much better.
02:00At this point in time, he's going to be better.
02:03He just knows more football.
02:04So there's basically no rookie or second-year quarterback you can envision
02:07that would look better than Deshaun right now.
02:08It's not even a Shador thing.
02:09It's a, you just don't have an experience thing.
02:12Well, and once again, though, you've talked about, yes, but he's also a gamer, right?
02:17So you talk about, so he's not nearly as talented.
02:19When you watch Deshaun Watson throw a football, I'm not talking about in a game,
02:24all those things that people always throw at me.
02:25I'm just talking about spinning a football.
02:27Yeah.
02:28Absolutely can spin it.
02:29There's a difference.
02:30It's incredible.
02:31It's incredible.
02:31And that's why this is so scary to me is because I've fallen for this trap before.
02:35It's not a trap.
02:37It's not a trap.
02:38Because I fell for it three years in a row where I'm like at training camp, like, whoa,
02:41that ball comes off different.
02:42But then it does.
02:43That looks different.
02:44Wow.
02:45That's all class.
02:46That's elite.
02:47That's this.
02:47That's that.
02:47And then you get him in a game, and he stinks up the joint three straight years in a row,
02:51and then it ends with injuries.
02:52Some of that's on him.
02:53All of that's on him.
02:54No.
02:55Absolutely not protection.
02:56Him stinking at his job?
02:56I'm going to put that on him.
02:57Well, there's some other reasons in football.
03:00You've got to rely on the people around you.
03:01But he had good people around him, though.
03:02And he did.
03:03Not all the time, though.
03:04He had Nick Chubb.
03:04He had a really good offensive line.
03:06He did.
03:06He had Amari Cooper.
03:07Agreed.
03:07And the system, and partly him, too.
03:10Don't get me wrong.
03:10It's just like the poor year, the poor draft, all those things.
03:15It wasn't just Stefanski.
03:17Everybody had their hand in the pot.
03:18It's the same thing with Deshaun.
03:19He did his part.
03:20He didn't play well.
03:21And he had off-field issues and all those things.
03:23But it wasn't just him, either.
03:24And the point being is that as he gets to this year, right now, in my opinion, he should
03:30be ahead.
03:30He knows more.
03:31Now, if your guy comes out and you have, you're so great, it's still going to be very
03:36hard because you just don't know as much as those guys who are in front of you who have
03:40been playing a long time.
03:41That's all.
03:42No, and that makes me feel better about the idea of, like, there's no quarterback that
03:45could come in here with that little experience that Shador has and would be ahead of where
03:49Deshaun is supposed to be right now.
03:50And once again, people have said that when he was at Colorado, he couldn't read defenses.
03:54But, like, Mary Kay, for instance, though.
03:56Mary Kay's already putting out there that she believes that what she should do, just declare him
04:00QB one ASAP and let the first team offense start to cook.
04:03There's no time to waste.
04:04And it's like, well, all right, isn't that just that feels awfully quick for this whole
04:08entire process.
04:09That feels awfully quick.
04:10Well, and but if they're doing it right, which Munkin is there, they're watching the
04:13film there.
04:14There's a lot of other things besides the practice that none of us understand.
04:18And you got to know, but they've only been around for a week and a half now.
04:21It's not as if they've been doing this.
04:23They've been doing this.
04:23I mean, Deshaun was in Florida, though.
04:25It's not like they were he wasn't in Berea.
04:27Oh, I know I was in Berea.
04:28Yeah.
04:29And Deshaun wasn't.
04:30He was in Florida.
04:31Again, though, because he understands what, you know, the perception is reality.
04:35I get all that stuff.
04:36The thing is, when you go out to practice and you're Todd Munkin, you've never seen
04:39these guys play right now.
04:41When you watch him play without pads, with all the other elements, Deshaun Watson looks
04:44like a better quarterback.
04:45He spins it better.
04:46He's got better.
04:47There's that's not up for me.
04:48That's not up for bait.
04:49I think I think Shador is outstanding.
04:51I think Shador is outstanding.
04:53And I agree with you.
04:54Shador is super gamer.
04:56Right.
04:56And last year proved to me a lot because, you know, I like Dylan Gabriel.
04:59So I thought he was super impactful when he went in.
05:02He's going to have to learn to practice.
05:03There's a learning curve here.
05:04He's going to have to learn to practice a little bit better.
05:06He's going to have to make sure that he can get all those things that go into being a
05:10quarterback.
05:10I think his footwork's improved.
05:11He's working at his craft.
05:13The idea of this instant gratification, I don't think necessarily works for every quarterback.
05:18The Jalen Daniels of the world are very, very few and far between.
05:21He's an outlier.
05:22What he's going through right now.
05:23And I, once again, whether he's a second round talent or what he's picked in the fifth
05:27round.
05:28So he's going to have to earn his stripes a little bit last year when Dylan played, I
05:31thought Dylan played because they picked him in the third round, whether he was better
05:34or not.
05:34Once again, it wasn't fair.
05:36Fair doesn't matter.
05:37No one cares about fair in football.
05:38Everybody does what fair shouldn't matter.
05:40I understand all of that, but the part that I like if the, if I see the warning signs ahead
05:44of you, I have to be the person that at least says, Hey, something, something problematic
05:48is going to happen to you.
05:49But if he doesn't play, is that a, are you saying that because if he does, if he doesn't
05:52play, then it's, it's three card money.
05:56No, I'm saying right now, I'm saying I've seen it for three years that I've seen Deshaun
05:59come out and be the best quarterback in practice.
06:01And for three straight years, it ended either in injury or a really poor play for both.
06:05So no, no, but like, isn't that my responsibility at some point to like turn around and be like,
06:09Hey, listen, uh, I watched you drive your car and then I watched you once drive it off
06:14into a ditch.
06:14I watched you a second time, drive it off into a ditch.
06:16I watched a third time.
06:17You take the same path and drive it off into a ditch.
06:19You're looking at it and saying, this is my best.
06:21This is my easiest path to getting home.
06:23I'm looking at it and saying, I watched you three straight times.
06:25Think that you got a clear horizon there.
06:27And I've watched you drive it straight into a ditch.
06:29There's a ditch there.
06:30It exists.
06:31You can't, you can't tell me it doesn't exist.
06:32Well, I've seen you drive it three straight times.
06:34Well, the one time you drove it, one time you drove it in a ditch because you were an idiot.
06:37The other time you drove in a ditch because you're trying to get out of the way of something.
06:39Other time you drove in a ditch because you're looking at your phone.
06:41There's different things.
06:42The reason you drove it into the ditch, but they all resulted in the ditch, but they're
06:45not always your fault.
06:46And maybe with some pieces, Sean Watson was his fault.
06:49Oh no, it was his fault too.
06:50So then we admit we're at the same spot.
06:52No, no, no.
06:53I'm what I'm admitting is that it's part him.
06:56There's other factors around him.
06:58And the point being, I just don't want to go into a ditch again, coach.
07:01And I feel like I feel like I'm seeing everyone say, Oh, this is it.
07:03No, it's this road is different.
07:05It's no, it's the same road.
07:07He's going to get his look.
07:07I've seen you go down this road.
07:08He's going to get his look.
07:09Ended up in the ditch.
07:10Three straight times.
07:11If he can do what he did last year.
07:12Can't I at this point at least be the person that sounds the alarms and says, I know where
07:15this is going.
07:16I know, I know, I know where this one is headed.
07:17Because you don't know where he's headed.
07:18I do know where this is headed.
07:19Again, it looks, it looks rosy.
07:21It looks great.
07:22It looks all this other thing.
07:23You end up in the ditch.
07:24Three straight times.
07:25And you could.
07:26But it doesn't.
07:26You're gonna.
07:27But you don't, I'm not losing.
07:29This is like saying we're going to lose the game before we play it.
07:31No, let's let it play out.
07:32We'll see what happens.
07:33He's going to get his look.
07:34Shador is going to get his look.
07:35If he did what he did last year, he's going to be a really good quarterback.
07:39Like I said, I thought he came in.
07:41When people say to me, and I'm a Dylan fan, when people say to me, well, Dylan had better
07:45numbers.
07:46If you watched the game last year, you cannot say Shador didn't have some really positive
07:50impact on that team.
07:51I thought he had some great impact.
07:52It doesn't mean he has a lot of work to do and he's got to protect the football.
07:55There's other things that happen.
07:56What I'm saying is, and I don't like the word necessarily, like it's a clean slate or fresh
08:00eyes.
08:01It's just, everybody's kind of fighting for a spot.
08:03And right now in this position, because of his seniority and how old he is and all the
08:07football he's played, Watson should be in front.
08:10That's a good thing.
08:11Shador is going to get his chance.
08:13This is, first of all, this is that if Shador was way behind, which he's not, he would still
08:17get a chance because in the NFL, more than quarterback, more than one quarterback plays.
08:21And Deshaun has had, as I've said, I agree with you on the injuries.
08:24He's had trouble staying healthy.
08:26Roy in Akron up next on the fan.
08:28Hello, Roy.
08:30Hey, how are you doing?
08:31Hey, Roy.
08:33I've been waiting for this.
08:34I got steam coming out my ears.
08:37I 1000% agree with you.
08:40I'm not sure who that other guy is you're talking to, but talking about experience and, I mean,
08:44it's like the Iverson, are we talking about practicing?
08:47Like, so no matter how bad a guy is, he's got more experience.
08:50He should get first track.
08:51Like, what?
08:53But more importantly, what are we talking about?
08:56We got lucky for once in the world.
08:58Like, do we forget that Shador looked better than Cam Ward last year?
09:01Like, what he did when he played with nothing?
09:05I mean, I saw, the thing about Shador is he made, I saw him make short touch throws, medium
09:10throws, bombs.
09:12Like, he's got all the throws, let's develop him on a rookie contract like a normal team
09:17and get behind him.
09:18The kid's done nothing but cheer for Cleveland and talk about positivity and he's done nothing
09:23wrong.
09:24I mean, he looked better than he was supposed to.
09:25He could scramble.
09:27Like, what if he takes a jump like he's supposed to because we got some linemen and some receivers?
09:34And let's see where it goes.
09:35Like, did we forget?
09:36You know who he had a better rookie year than?
09:39Sam Darnold.
09:40Remember when Sam Darnold was seeing ghosts and everybody was saying he's the worst?
09:43He just won a Super Bowl.
09:45Like, the kid's young.
09:46Let's develop a, Deshaun.
09:48Are we, I'm with you.
09:50Like, what planet?
09:51Mary Kay, God bless her.
09:52I hope, like, you know, I just believe she reports as a person who never played sports.
09:57So I hope maybe it doesn't have as much impact.
09:59But I don't even know what that, Roy, Roy, okay.
10:00We can't do Mary Kay shots here.
10:02She's not here to defend herself.
10:02That wasn't a mean shot.
10:04Come on.
10:05Roy, I appreciate your thoughts.
10:06But, like, we can't do that.
10:08But, like, the idea is, is the, like, we're going to have to balance this out here.
10:12Because that one was pro-Shador.
10:13I went, you can vouch for me, Mac.
10:16That was not, that said Watson Sanders in the call box.
10:18I didn't know what I was getting into.
10:20I didn't want, you know, I'm not out here searching for people to back up my opinion.
10:24But a lot of what he said, though, I agree with.
10:26That's okay.
10:27Like, one of the positives about Shador is the idea that, yes, as a second-year quarterback,
10:30you're supposed to get better.
10:31And you're supposed to, there's, like, an actual ceiling that he hasn't yet achieved.
10:34And you're going to get better as this thing goes on.
10:37With Deshaun, I'm not expecting any bit of it to get better.
10:39I'm only expecting it to be what it was for the previous five years.
10:42And for me, I'm looking for the best quarterback to play.
10:45So, once again, a lot of what he said, though, and, Roy, my name is Lance, a lot of what
10:50he
10:50said was, a lot of what he said was true.
10:52I thought he was going to, I thought at first he just had me and you confused in general,
10:55and it just was what it was.
10:57I knew he went in deep, whoever that guy is you're talking to.
10:59Yeah.
10:59My name's...
11:00Let's bring a hater.
11:01Let's bring a hater into the building here.
11:02Because I, what's funny about that is we have, like, a million calls of business.
11:05Coach is right.
11:06Coach is right.
11:08David in Cuyahoga Falls.
11:09Hello, David.
11:10Hey, how's it going?
11:11Hello, David.
11:12Hey, Dave.
11:12I love this discussion, man.
11:15This is awesome.
11:16But, you know, and I want to say first, because you should probably know where, Jonathan, this
11:20is coming up, is a coach, I think you're great.
11:23And so, just to fire it up a little bit, Jonathan, what have you coached lately?
11:29I mean, really?
11:30Are you able to even...
11:32Coach Riz is the coach.
11:32I'm not the coach.
11:34No, no, no.
11:35What I'm saying is, is that I'm asking you what you've coached, because he sees optics
11:39that you have no...
11:40I don't, I didn't hear you ever say that you coached anything.
11:44No, I haven't.
11:45That's why we, that's why we have him here.
11:46That's why I advocate for him to be here as often as I can.
11:49Right.
11:49And, and, you're right.
11:51So, that's why I, I give more weight to his view than yours.
11:55The second part is, is that, you know, I mean, I, I'm sorry, but you're a shill for,
12:00for Shador.
12:01You were before against Gabriel, against whatever.
12:05If the competition, David, is Shador versus Deshaun, it doesn't take a shill in order to go
12:10ahead and say, Shador is a, uh, something I want to invest in and something I think is
12:13a better bet.
12:14I mean, it could be, we could do this to Sean versus Dylan Gabriel.
12:17I'd still go for Dylan Gabriel in that discussion too.
12:20There's no redeeming qualities for Deshaun Watson on a football field for me.
12:23It doesn't exist anymore.
12:24But, no, you can't, I, I mean, I disagree with that because, I mean, you say that you
12:29know unequivocally that, that the Shador is, is, is going to, I mean, that, uh, Watson's
12:35not going to work.
12:36Yes.
12:36Yes.
12:37And right.
12:37And so I say, what are the lottery numbers next week?
12:41You believe, tell me the path, tell me the path to how this works for Deshaun.
12:45We have no evidence in NFL history.
12:48We have no evidence of someone taking 700 days off twice.
12:50This is the second time he's been 700 days off in between starting games to then come
12:54out and actually look good.
12:56He's never done it.
12:57And again, and again, tell me how you know that's going to happen.
13:01If it's on Deshaun to showcase that he can do that, it's not on me.
13:04You can't do that.
13:05You can't do that.
13:06You, you can't predict the future.
13:08If you can, then tell me the lottery number.
13:09If you could make me bet, if you could make me bet money, legitimate American dollars on
13:14whether or not Deshaun Watson will be successful or not, I would bet a fortune on it.
13:18I bet all sorts of money on it.
13:19That's a, that's a risk that I would be willing to weigh.
13:21Yeah.
13:21Well, a hundred percent of the time, it's not about being Ms.
13:24Cleo and David, I appreciate the call.
13:25It's not about being Ms.
13:26Cleo.
13:27It isn't.
13:28It doesn't take a, it doesn't take an Einstein.
13:29It doesn't take a, a seer or some sort of, you know, you know, I clairvoyant person to
13:36be able to tell you that a guy that hasn't been good and hasn't stayed healthy in five
13:40years is also not going to be healthy or be good next season.
13:43Like this is on Deshaun to showcase that he could do it.
13:46This isn't on me to showcase that.
13:48Well, and once again, I will say this, Dave, I appreciate the call.
13:51And, but I will say this, you, you don't ever say things from a coach's perspective.
13:56We talk in terms of what you've seen and how you've seen it and your proof and how you
14:01see things.
14:02And that's the difference in having different thoughts and process.
14:04So for me, though, I appreciate the sport has nothing to do with me coaching on those
14:08things.
14:09It's what, what, what we're seeing and how we see things differently.
14:11It's just like how we saw Dylan Gabriel a little bit differently and why I would still
14:16argue why I think he can be a good quarterback in the NFL.
14:18So again, I appreciate the call, but the idea that because somebody didn't coach, the proof
