00:49now like you come to expect the unexpected but i'm just like i i don't know like why he would

00:54himself in that position and obviously he came out and disputed it and whatnot but i just couldn't
00:59like imagine like yeah like this is really jerry judy's way of like you know advocating for who he
01:04wants to start it's just like like really like i just couldn't it couldn't see that yeah it's
01:09interesting do you think he made it a bigger deal than it would have been by sending out the tweet
01:12that was trying to clear it all up i mean it's tough that's what i'm saying it's like the it's

01:32on i guess all right daniel let's get to the browns i'm sure there'll be time for quarterback talk but
01:38i just want to start this what do you think is the most intriguing non-quarterback storyline ahead of
01:43camp uh that's a really good question i would say to me it is just the kind of next iteration
01:54of this defense and it's not just you know a miles garrett list defense but is a it is a

02:01schwartz list defense um you know he's obviously been kind of the architect of what has been you know
02:06you could you could say this has you know been the best defense in the nfl statistically over uh
02:11the past couple years since he's been here if you look at certain numbers um and obviously they
02:15they really like the scheme that schwartz has run which is why they uh brought in mike rutenberg because
02:21he has familiarity uh with it and he's looking to kind of keep the template the same but i mean
02:26it's
02:26different like it's going to be it's going to be a different play caller a different voice a different
02:29mind and it's going to be a first time dc that uh you know is um calling the shots so
02:36i i i honestly
02:37i really like the talent even without miles garrett um getting back here at first is gonna is gonna
02:42help a lot i think that they have um you know multiple mobile level talents uh you know across
02:48the defense um but it's different you know with a first time dc and you just never know and for
02:54as
02:54much as we talk about you know the offense making strides under todd munkin and all the new pieces on
02:59the new offensive line um the defense is going to have to continue to play at the level that we've
03:03seen
03:03you know the past couple years if they are going to be more competitive uh than they then they've
03:07been the past couple years how much a drop off are you expecting i mean they were they were second
03:12i
03:12believe in epa last year defensively there's going to be some drop off how big is that drop off going
03:16to be yeah yeah i think i think to a man you know you know i think to a man
03:21internally uh they know
03:23that there probably is going to be a little bit of a drop like there's you know you're you're fooling
03:28yourself if you try to you know convince anybody that um you know this defense is going to be
03:33better or stay the same but i still think that you know this can be a uh a top third
03:40like if
03:41they're if they're not a top five defense maybe they can be a top 12 defense and then again um
03:47if
03:47you you know combine that with you know significant strides on on the offensive side of the ball and
03:54look there's nowhere else to go but up with what has been the league's lowest scoring offense over the
03:59past two years um if you're still like a top 12 kind of fringe top 10 defense um with a
04:04much
04:04improved offense um you know we're we're kind of starting to cook with something all right daniel
04:10getting to the offense here um i i think it's hard to really put into perspective how bad things were
04:20last year even statistically i don't think it tells like they were non-functional for most parts of last
04:27year offensively and so when we fast forward this year new head coach new play caller you know
04:34potentially the the same starting quarterback if shador is your starting quarterback but a lot of
04:38new pieces on offense how quickly should we expect monkey to come in and make an impact on this offense
04:46well no you you hit it right right there you know with uh so much so many moving parts you're
04:52going
04:52to have probably five new week one offensive line starters you know obviously the quarterback
04:56situation will sort it out over the over the next month but completely new offensive line you know
05:01multiple new pass catchers um you know assistant coaches that are just kind of getting a feel some
05:06of them haven't worked with with munkin um a lot um you're kind of getting a feel for what everyone
05:12does well and and is comfortable with um i mean i'm kind of naturally expecting you know i don't have
05:18big high expectations for the offense as a whole this season um i do think they're going to be improved
05:23but they're not going to be like an elite unit uh but even then like out coming out the gate
05:27like i
05:28would i would expect a little bit of uh um you know acclimation period as munkin kind of figures out
05:33what these guys really really do well and maybe the first months of the year it's not the prettiest thing
05:37but then you kind of get a feel for you know what are the best uh where the best packages
05:42where
05:42the best plays like who works kind of well in certain situations i would expect multiple weeks
05:47into the regular season mike the quarterback situation will play itself out and the offense
05:51will look how how it looks uh during training camp but even during the season i would definitely
05:55expect an acclimation period um as munkin really gets a feel for what these guys do best
06:00over the course of the season we've gotten a wide ranging amount of answers from people that were
06:05there watching deshaun watson over the past couple months uh where did you stand on how you saw his
06:09arm his shoulder and and how you you think deshaun is looking heading into this quarterback
06:14competition yeah i mean he looks healthy which is you know like a start for him because he's
06:20obviously um you know suffered some type of injury you know you know about just about every year
06:24he's been here um i thought he moved around a while obviously like he wasn't perfect you know
06:29there's going to be there was ups and downs in terms of accuracy and um and touch and stuff like
06:34that
06:34but uh you know i always say like we're there every single day and we see every single uh we
06:40see
06:40every single pass and every single pass isn't going to be perfect like there's going to be some good
06:44practices there's going to be some less than quality practices but that's just kind of like how it is
06:48over the course of uh of a training camp and even the all-season workout program uh for me you
06:54know
06:54like he's kind of shown a baseline that he's like healthy now it's like i really want to see him
07:00in
07:00these pre-season games which you know we haven't really seen him over the past couple years in
07:03pre-season games before you know he gets regular season action so uh whether it's been rust whether
07:08it's been just not being healthy um he hasn't been able to show like that consistency you know
07:14gaming and game out on the field so like practice is what it is but i'm really interested to see
07:18him
07:18like once he gets into maybe even uh the joint practices with the bills and that's a little more
07:23of a of a livelier competitive session um i think that that'll give us a real kind of you know
07:29more um
07:30you know uh just a better picture of how he's looking i thought he was fine you know i think
07:35he had some good throws some good days i thought he had some days that that weren't um as good
07:39i
07:40think that we're going to see more of the same um you know as we you know get into training
07:43camp this
