00:00The Browns have announced they've re-signed Tevin Jenkins.
00:03As of right now, I do not see any actual details coming through on this,
00:07but obviously Tevin joined the Browns last year in free agency.
00:11Then he was kind of at the center of the Wyatt Teller, Tevin Jenkins.
00:16It's a platoon in the middle of the season, but it's not really a platoon.
00:21I think Tevin has been a nice player when he's been healthy.
00:25The problem is the when he's been healthy part of this.
00:28It's tough for me because I'm also a little blinded
00:30because I'm still annoyed that Tevin Jenkins was used to mess with Wyatt Teller.
00:34It's fine.
00:35I don't think it really says anything about Joel Batonio at this point either.
00:38No, but he's exactly the type of guy that they like, though,
00:40and the idea that he's versatile.
00:41He can do any position on the offensive line.
00:44If you ask Bears fans going into the acquisition of him last year,
00:47they'd tell you, all right, no more tackle stuff with Tevin Jenkins.
00:49He's best at guard, but ultimately, I thought he did a fine job.
00:53In a lot of sour parts of that offensive line last year,
00:57Tevin Jenkins wasn't really one of them.
00:59Yeah, so if your interior offensive line ends up being Zion Johnson,
01:05Luke Whipler, and Tevin Jenkins,
01:07I am going to need heavy, heavy reinforcements drafted,
01:12rounds three through five, at least two guys on the interior
01:16because Tevin Jenkins, at this point, given the injury stuff,
01:19is really more of a one-year signing until proven otherwise.
01:22Basically, yeah.
01:23I mean, he's in the DeJuan Jones category for myself.
01:26You just can't rely on him.
01:27Again, he did good last year in staying healthy and being available
01:30and, again, playing everywhere on the offensive line,
01:32but you just can't rely on him long-term.
01:35Now, Rasheed Walker still is out there.
01:37The Packers left tackle.
01:39Theoretically, he could be the one Packer that actually ends up back in Green Bay
01:43as everybody else is kind of exited.
01:45It's an insane amount of free agents for them.
01:48I think the longer he's out there, I have a feeling that that means
01:52that whatever price tag was floated, $22, $23 million,
01:57teams aren't willing to pay.
01:59I honestly hope that we get to a point where maybe he gets into the Browns' price range
02:05because I really love the idea.
02:07I'm getting more and more fearful of having to back yourself into a corner
02:12of taking a left tackle to say you took a left tackle
02:15and with the Lions opening up their left tackle spot by releasing Taylor Decker.
02:20They pick at 17.
02:22There's like six or seven other teams out there, six, seven,
02:25other teams out there that are going to be in the left tackle market.
02:29I don't really feel comfortable drafting one at six to this point,
02:32and I also don't really feel comfortable there's going to be one there
02:36that falls to you at 24.
02:38That, to me, means the split, the difference is signing a Rasheed Walker
02:42and then seeing if a Venga Iowani, the guard out of Penn State,
02:46ends up falling to you at 24.
02:48Yeah, you want as many options as possible, right?
02:50And so if you did this, then you're not forcing yourself.
02:52As much as we might like Monroe Freeling,
02:54you're not forcing yourself then to take him at six
02:57if he's not actually worthy of being taken at six.
02:59Now, I think it's interesting.
03:00Like, Joe kind of goes left tackle at six.
03:05We had Nick Shook on yesterday.
03:06He said, Carnell Tate's the easy selection.
03:09Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:09I think it's interesting.
03:12Like, I don't feel the natural he played at Ohio State,
03:16so I have a little bit more love for him for Carnell Tate
03:19than it seems like everybody else does.
03:22The kind of take on him is pretty much all over the board,
03:26either being the most complete wide receiver atop the board,
03:29but maybe with a shallower ceiling,
03:32or you view him as like a Tee Higgins.
03:34So is he a one, is he a two?
03:36That's what he keeps getting because of the Jeremiah Smith connection there.
03:38And that's how Abuka was treated last year.
03:41Same entire thing.
03:42And I just think it's wild because there's 27 teams in the NFL
03:45that would look at Jeremiah Smith and be like,
03:47oh, we'll take him as our number one tomorrow.
03:49Like, the amount of teams that would is insane.
03:50So to look at him that way, I think is –
03:52I just – I don't love.
03:53I don't love that he's being pigeonholed that way.
03:55I – the thing that I loved about Emeka Abuka is it felt like the NFL
03:59was just catching up to his actual value, right?
04:03Again, I thought Emeka Abuka was a little bit ignored compared to Jeremiah Smith.
04:08I don't think Carnell Tate's being ignored at all.
04:11No, he made enough splashy plays.
04:12He gets enough attention and enough conversations around him.
04:15And so, like, I feel like he's getting a lot of love.
04:18There's no denying that.
04:19I don't know that he's –
04:20I think he's the guy that most Browns fans would say just run to the pick –
04:24or run to the podium at six.
04:25Well, because I don't think they know much about Makai
04:27and they don't know much about Tyson at this point outside of who his brother is.
04:30You know what I mean?
04:30And the I-word.
04:31Injuries.
04:32Yeah.
04:32And so, like, and any time you have injuries,
04:34you're just going to run scared of that, especially at that part.
04:37And so, you think about Carnell Tate.
04:38You've got a relationship with him, as Buckeye fans in the area do,
04:42and it just becomes easy.
04:43Now, what's interesting to me about this is the amount of people that have turned to us
04:46just be like, all right, wide receiver and that's it.
04:48And they're laying it out as if it's going to be wide receiver and that's it.
04:52And I find that to be incredibly fascinating.
04:54Yeah.
04:55I would really like to get to a point where I could just fall back on the best player
04:59available at premier positions at six.
05:02I don't think we're going to get there because I don't think there's a –
05:04I mean, when Romeo Dobbs is getting three-year $60 million or three-year $70 million
05:08or four-year $70 million, it could be $80 million.
05:11They can't agree on what it is.
05:12And even when, like, you know, Brian Thomas,
05:15apparently the Jags aren't getting the offer they want.
05:18Yeah.
05:19Which I don't even know what that would be.
05:20Like, they put him on the market now two times in six months.
05:24Actually, no, three times in a year because he was available reportedly
05:29leading up to last year's draft as well.
05:31And if he's not getting the calls, then Marvin Harrison is –
05:33that's going to be a sticky situation.
05:35So it feels like if you do end up adding anyone,
05:38it's going to be kind of a veteran.
05:41He used to maybe be somebody.
05:43Maybe it would be like an IUK if IUK gets released, whatever.
05:46But there is a part of me that goes, like,
05:48I guess I'm more comfortable backing myself into a take the best wide receiver
05:53available at six, if that's Carnell Tate, if that's Jordan Tyson,
05:57if that's Makai Lemon, and getting backed into, well,
06:00you have to take a left tackle because you literally need a left tackle.
06:03And it feels like that's the direction that the Browns are headed towards.
06:06It feels like there's three wide receivers there.
06:08Find out the one you like the best.
06:09We're going to take one of them, and we go from there.
