00:12can't play football right now. Ooh, that's my takeaways. That's from what I have. The people
00:16I'm talking Spencer German, the people I'm talking to are telling me that Deshaun Watson can't play
00:21football right now. And Shador has looked the best. It's not because Shador has been that great. It's
00:25because he looks better than Deshaun Watson, which is just not hard to do right now. Yeah,
00:30I would. I'm hearing the same thing, although not from Spencer German, although if he would like to
00:35tell me it, I will also hear from him. I mean, we've got to use the term awful. Is that
00:40OK,
00:40Spencer? Can we use the term awful? Yeah, Spencer says he's been awful. Spencer hasn't missed a snap
00:44yet. And he says he's awful so far. Well, and I do think that matters. Like the whole point of
00:49Deshaun Watson was that Deshaun was supposed to be ahead of the game mentally. And all I'm
00:55hearing is he doesn't have a feel. It's taken him forever to get the ball out. That's apparent
01:00to anybody, whether you've been here for three snaps or 3,500, you'd see that Deshaun cannot
01:04get the ball out quick at all to save his life. And then he'll have these passes. Here's the thing.
01:09His arm doesn't look cooked. That's the funny part about this. Like you can see. And that was my
01:13biggest concern coming into this. Yeah, the dead arm. People were worried about that. His arm doesn't
01:17look cooked. He's just all over the place with this ball. There's no placement to it. And it just seems
01:22like bad decision after bad decision, which is a theme of Deshaun Watson's life, by the
01:26way. But like it just, yeah, this is, this is about as bad as it gets and about as bad
01:30as it could look for Deshaun early on. And I didn't hear it. So I want to preface that,
01:35but there were multiple people tweeting out that Deshaun was getting booze today or hearing
01:40booze. I didn't hear that. I didn't want to ask you about that. I saw that as well. I saw
01:43the quotes out there. We're obviously we're doing a radio show, so we're not going to catch
01:46everything. I didn't hear any of those booze though. I did not either. But again,
01:50multiple media members out here have tweeted it out. Now I want to continue to make this
01:56point because I get a little frustrated with the Shador discourse that Shador is maybe playing
02:05poorly, but that Deshaun's playing poorly is obfuscating Shador's play. That is not the last
02:12four practices. Now Deshaun has gone against the ones when he's gone against the one Shador's
02:18looked better against the twos. And the last two times that Shador has gone against the ones
02:23and Deshaun's gone against the twos, Shador has looked like the better quarterback. Again,
02:28even if Shador is being adequate or average, or I heard somebody say it like a six out of 10,
02:34that is serviceable in the NFL for a guy that people say cannot play in the NFL.
02:40Yeah. I mean, it doesn't mean you got to crown him, obviously, you know, there's a lot that Shador
02:43still has to do and a lot that he's got to showcase in this camp. But if the question was,
02:47are you a better football player today than Deshaun Watson? So far, he's answered that handedly.
02:52Well, and it should be noted, again, there's a gap. Like I've heard if Shador was a six today,
02:59Deshaun was a two or a three. And that might even be generous. That is incredibly significant. And
03:04again, like it is camp. We're only seeing so much context, all the things you have to say.
03:09I was going to go to Shador though. It's not even as if Deshaun had this room to work with.
03:13It's like, all right, it's a toss up this, Nick, this could not be going worse. If you're Todd
03:18Munkin as of right now, I mean the idea that Deshaun Watson, the guy that I think, and this
03:23is just me thinking that I think they wanted to go ahead and have win this battle because
03:27of the experience and because of everything else, he's nowhere close. And so maybe they'll
03:32be satisfied with Shador. But as of right now, like this is, there's no way they plan this
03:36up this way. See, I think in terms of it couldn't be going worse, I think it couldn't be going
03:41better because they're, I think right now, in my opinion, there's a clear winner and there's
03:45a clear loser. And that's good for me and you that wanted to see Shador play. Well, but
03:48I think ambiguity is the worst thing for this because then you're trying to go ahead and
03:53prove to the locker room you've made the right choice. I get what you're saying. You're
03:56not second guessing your decision at all. It's obvious. And they aren't. You get to know
03:59it. Yeah, the players know it as well. Everyone's very aware of what's going on. Oh man, it's
04:04going to be very interesting. I can't wait to ask Denzel Ward what he thinks about going
04:07up against Sean Watson these days. You know, he's going to give us something good at about
04:10six o'clock today. But while we're talking about this, the other big standout here or
04:16the other quarterback may be performing beyond where people expect it has been Dylan Gabriel.
04:20And we talked about this earlier. There was a dildot earlier, a Dylan Gabriel. We've got
04:26to get better branding for this. Why? What is it? Why is it not sounding right to you?
04:29It might be. It might be. I don't. Why do you think it's not sounding right to me?
04:33No, you're asking, you're answering a question with a question here. I just, what about dildot
04:37doesn't hit your ears right? It's too close to Dilbert for people. Maybe. Oh, you don't
04:41want him to think he's a fat nerd. Okay. All right. I just want him to think he's tiny.
04:46Yeah. Um, but Dylan Gabriel has had a couple of nice throws that you and I have seen here.
04:51He's had a couple boo-boo throws, but it's funny. Like this big conversation has blown up
04:57about Dylan Gabriel getting into the starting mix. I want a quarterback battle. So if, if,
05:04if Deshaun is faltering and Dylan Gabriel is the guy that gets to apply some pressure here
05:09to Shador, I'm fine with that. I want, I want that locker room. If, if Shador wins it,
05:15whoever wins it, I want that locker room behind whoever starts week one. And the only way you do
05:20that is if there's some applied pressure here right now, Deshaun is not applying.
05:23Deshaun is going so bad for Deshaun Watson. And that's why, so I asked Nick shook that
05:27question of like, do you just go Shador? And then if Shador doesn't work, your plan B is
05:31going to be Dylan Gabriel for this season, uh, because it's going so poorly for Deshaun
05:35at this point. I have no idea how you confidently put him out there as the backup to Shador Sanders.
05:39And the, if, if we need to go to someone else, it's unequivocally going to be Deshaun because
05:45I, it's not that, it's not that I think Gabriel's any great. I really don't. He's made some
05:49nice passes. I just don't know how you put Deshaun Watson on the field right now.
05:52The more we see what we're seeing out of Deshaun, the more that I'm buying into the philosophy
05:58that I've had most of this off season, that Deshaun is a patsy, that Deshaun was an implied
06:04threat, but never a direct threat is becoming.
06:06Well, his play is his play suggesting that you're right on the money in that one. Uh, you
06:10know, I, I tend to think it was real because I don't think you split up the first team reps
06:13with the idea that we're just going to use this to push the door. Uh, but maybe, maybe this
06:17was part of it. Maybe it was. So the reason why I think this case, we got to call this
06:20thing soon. If it continues to look as bad as it is for Deshaun. Yeah. Like as soon
06:24as the end of installs on Thursday, if he's going to look like this, we got to call this
06:28thing or at the least we just move them over the side and give Dylan those reps and get
06:31your door the right amount of first team reps. And let's, let's get this thing all
06:35wrapped up. If it's going to look like this, here's why Deshaun getting the first team
06:39reps, why I think they would have done it, even if they thought Deshaun was cooked, because
06:43we have a host on this station who said, should or has not earned anything. Remember last
06:48year, I don't recall anyone saying Dylan Gabriel didn't earn anything when Dylan Gabriel was
06:54handed the starting job in week five and then looked like absolute caca in his five
06:58or six starts. I don't, nobody said that. And he was gifted those opportunities that
07:04he got in camp when he looked like crap, by the way, because Kevin Stefanski liked Dylan
07:09Gabriel. Shador was not gifted anything last year and then was thrown into the fire and
07:14people are grading his stats, not the tape, not what they thought in the real time, but
07:18they're grading his stats off of a guy who got no chance and didn't work with the first
07:23team until mid November. And so it's funny. Like I, I, I honestly do think that the Browns
07:31have put Shador in the two spot with, uh, Shador or sorry, putting Shador in the two spot
07:37with Deshaun as a starter to continue to knock down that narrative that Shador hasn't earned
07:41it. Shador has earned this opportunity to, to fight for the starting spot by what he did
07:46in the final seven games last year. And he's clearly earning the right to start by being
07:51better than Deshaun Watson, despite being put in that two spot. I know, but now, now
07:55it matters as to how long they do drag this out. If it's as obvious as it is right now,
07:59it matters how long they drag this out. I agree with the concepts have Shador make
08:03it seem like he earned it, make it seem as if like then, and then all the players can
08:07obviously see what's going on. Everyone that media can see what's going on, but these
08:11are, these are pivotal reps and this is a young Shador Sanders. Like this is the
08:15we're entering year two with him and he only got seven games last year. Like
08:18every rep is going to matter for his own decision-making and for his own playmaking
08:22abilities. And so the moment you know it, you have to then call it. And this can't
08:27just be elongated. Let's prop up and try to make this seem like a competition when
08:31it really was. And let's just be very clear here. There is no way you can name
08:36Deshaun Watson, the starter at any point this week. You can't. Oh no, that'll be, I mean,
08:43it'll break this Chauncey's poker game if that happens. And I honestly, I think it's the kind
08:47of thing that could sink the beginning part of your season and you can't do that. Distrust
08:51would form immediately. I think Todd Munkin does know that. I think so too. I think, I think
08:55there was a little bit of, there was a little bit of hubris from Kevin Stefanski and Andrew
09:02Berry. We'll treat this season last year, like a, uh, like basically one big, uh, germ
09:08factory. We're going to see what lives and what doesn't. Right. I think Todd Munkin
09:12knows this is a guy that's been around football for 40 years. This is a guy who knows he can't,
09:16you can't mess around with it like this. He knows. Yeah. He knows. That's why I thought
09:19Daryl actually, Daryl had a really good question with Munkin today. Why'd you say, why'd you say
09:23it really good? Like you were surprised by that. That's a really good question right there.
09:26And Munkin acknowledged it was a really good question. Uh, and the part that got you
09:30was, I, I said what you do, which is actually, and that's just me hanging around you with
09:34too much. That's all that is. Uh, everything's my fault. So he actually had a good question
09:38today and Munkin acknowledged it. Munkin was like, yeah, uh, when it comes to getting the
09:42ball out quicker, there are things that they have to work on. All quarterbacks have to work
09:46on. And there's, there's parts of this that Deshaun is clearly failing.
