West Indies women's coach Shane Deitz says his team did not capitalise on good positions against Sri Lanka in the ODI and T20 series in the Caribbean, which saw the visitors coming out on top.

According to Deitz, there were not many positives in the series for the ladies in maroon.

00:00It was a tough time for the West Indies, who lost both the ODI and T20 series to Sri Lanka
00:05in the Caribbean.
00:06The ladies in Maroon lost a longer format 2-1 and the abridged version 2-0.
00:11According to Indies coach Shane Dietz, his players have to be more consistent and not throw away good positions.
00:17Every time we put the pressure on the opposition with battle ball, we let it go by throwing a wicket
00:21away or bowling a bat over a bad ball.
00:24It just released that pressure.
00:26Every time we got on top of the game, we just surrendered the positive position we were in.
00:33So we've got to get a bit more ruthless and a bit more, once we get in front, don't let
00:38the opposition come back and kick our foot on the gas for longer.
00:42And that's probably an area we're going to work on getting those wins and developing that winning mentality in the
00:50middle a bit more.
00:51So that's important.
00:53The next assignment for the Windies is a wide ball series at home against Australia later this month, with Dietz
00:59hoping for improvements.
01:00One thing's for sure, Dietz felt his players fought hard on the field throughout the series against the Sri Lankans.
01:07It was one of those slow wickets, slow outfields.
01:10They had to run hard all day, dive at everything and fight for every run and stop every run.
01:15We did that really well, particularly in the ODI series.
01:18So the spirit in the camp is good.
01:20We just didn't execute our skills well enough for long enough.
01:25Glimpses of good moments, but just not enough good moments, not for long enough.
01:29While Dietz was not pleased about many things, there were some plus points.
01:33That included two half-sentries scored by Janelia Glasgow in the ODI series.
01:37I think probably the takeaways have been a couple of the fringe players stepping up.
01:45Glasgow played two great innings in the ODIs.
01:50She's starting to establish herself as an international cricketer, so it was great to see.
01:54But we're looking at those youngsters to get a lot better and develop their games.
02:00But yeah, so not a lot to be pleased about.
02:03I think it's been eight months since we last played our games.
02:07So we look very rusty as a unit.
02:09Our combinations weren't working.
02:12Yeah, we just look like we hadn't played for a while, which is obviously the case.
02:15The Windies have their work cut out for them as the women's T20 World Cup bowls off in June in
02:20England and Wales.
