West Indies coach Shane Deitz wants his players to wrap up the ODI series against South Africa, when the teams meet in game two of the three-match contest in Barbados on Saturday .
He says it was a good all-round display from his girls which saw them taking a 1-0 lead against the female Proteas in the opening ODI on Wednesday.
00:00The West Indies defeated South Africa by four wickets with the DLS method coming into play in the opening women's ODI at the 3W's Oval on Wednesday.
00:09It was also a birthday gift for the experienced Stefani Taylor who made 30 not out.
00:14But more importantly, the win came right after a disastrous England tour where the Windies were whitewashed in both white ball formats.
00:22West Indies coach Shane Dietz has lauded his side following a job well done.
00:26Yeah, great to bounce back after a really tough tour in England, but we kept our spirits up.
00:32We were trying to take all the positives out of that tour because it was pretty hard, pretty long.
00:37But it's good to be home and play in front of our home crowd.
00:40We had a good session and a good meeting yesterday, so the girls were really fired up.
00:45And also, they batted quite well on the power play for the girls to fight hard and bring that back and pull the score back.
00:52A score we could chase was great.
00:54And then obviously the two openers went out and destroyed it in the power play, got 70 in the power play, played with freedom and the style of play we're trying to introduce and play.
01:02Left-handed opener Kiana Joseph made 6th air in the victory against South Africa.
01:07Even in England, Joseph had decent scores of 62 and 34 in the ODIs following a poor T20 series.
01:15According to coach Dietz, she has been focusing on her game.
01:18Yeah, well obviously when you start, usually cricket opposition teams can't work you out.
01:23And England had really good plans for her in the T20.
01:25So we had to sit down and work out how she can combat that.
01:28And we had a lot of sessions, a lot of hard work on her technique and getting her in better positions to combat how they were trying to bowl to her.
01:35And she fought back hard and that shows a lot of mental toughness as well.
01:39And she played really well in England and brought that form here.
01:41The second ODI of the three-match series takes place on Saturday, while the final game is on Tuesday with all three at the same venue.
01:50And Dietz is hoping for the best.
01:52Obviously, SLF are a really good team. They're going to bounce back hard and try to come back.
01:56But it's a great chance to win a series in two games in front of the home crowd here.
02:00So hopefully a lot of people down here on Saturday.
02:02Should be a brilliant day. We're going to come out firing and definitely going to put everything in to try to win the game.
02:08Hopefully we wrap up the series on Saturday. It would be a great result.
02:10Following the ODIs, the teams then play three T20 internationals, also at the three Ws over in Barbados.
