00:00The West Indies women lost both the ODI and T20 series to Sri Lanka in the Caribbean recently.
00:06Following the poor results in Grenada, the ladies in Maroon next play Australia in a three-match T20 series from
00:12Thursday in St. Vincent.
00:14Windies coach Shane Deeb says it's good that his side is taking on a quality team.
00:19Yeah, great to be in St. Vincent. The ground's beautiful. Wickets all look great.
00:23So it's really good to be here and looking forward to a good contest.
00:27You know, obviously the number one team in the world, so it's great to test yourself against the best,
00:31to see where we're at individually and collectively, so really looking forward to the contest.
00:35Unlike the previous series against Sri Lanka, both teams are playing under floodlights from 6.30 p.m.
00:42Deeb says his team is focusing on making the necessary adjustments since the pitch is different to the one in
00:48Grenada.
00:49So getting used to the conditions is the focus, and we're doing a lot of talk about the opposition,
00:53our tactics and how we're going to play this ground. There's a big wind here as well, so we've got
00:58to maximise the use of that
01:00and use the home ground advantage to our advantage, and it's looking forward to putting on a good show for
01:07the locals.
01:07I think we will put on a good show.
01:09The series will also see the Windies and Aussies playing three ODIs.
01:13Dietz says it's going to be an important series since the T20 World Cup bowls off in England and Wales
01:19in the month of June.
01:20We've got these three T20s, then we've got a tri-series against Pakistan and Ireland in Ireland.
01:26So that's all our prep really for the World Cup, so we've got to maximise this opportunity,
01:31work out some good combinations, play some good cricket, obviously get some confidence
01:34in our roles that we're playing and different parts of the game, different scenarios of the game,
01:39and work out what's the best going into that World Cup, which is obviously the focus.
01:43Dietz knows the Aussies are going to be tough, so the question is,
01:47how are the Windies going to approach their opponents?
01:49For the intensity and the aggression, the Aussies will come at us.
01:53We've got to match that, we can't be too complacent or, you know, too within ourselves.
01:59We've got to express ourselves, show our skills, and back ourselves against the very best,
02:04and that will be a bit of a mental shift as well as focusing on our skills
02:07and show how good we are as a team, which we didn't quite do against Sri Lanka.
02:12So we need to bounce back well and show everyone that we're a good side and everyone can back us.
02:15Dietz is urging fans in St. Vincent to be the 12th man by attending the matches to support the home
02:22team.
02:23Now I need to use the 12th man.
02:25See you next time.
02:25Hi.
02:25to be.
