00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04More wet weather coming in across the south and we see a feed of cloud and rain continuing across the eastern side of Scotland.
00:11There's a rain warning from this evening into tomorrow across this zone here covering northern parts of Angus as well as Aberdeenshire over higher ground.
00:20Further wet weather, rainfall totals will slowly increase up to 30, 40 millimetres across one or two spots.
00:26Here's your rain warning into the early hours of tomorrow morning covering much essential southern, southwestern parts of England as well as the higher ground of South Wales.
00:34And again we could see 20, perhaps one or two spots seeing 30 millimetres of rain.
00:39The land is so saturated already we have seen a lot of surface water and also flooding and that won't help the situation at all.
00:47Now through Thursday a strong wind coming in from the south east, a significant wind chill along this eastern side here.
00:53A real marked contrast in temperature north to south with some milder conditions across the south as well as the southwest.
01:00And low pressure just stays in place as we head through Friday and into the weekend. More about that in a moment.
01:06Now through Wednesday evening you can see where the rain is. The wind's picking up along the south, southwestern part of the country.
01:13This rain continues to feed in across central and eastern areas of Scotland and some outbreaks of rain also for northern England.
01:19Drier skies perhaps northern Ireland, certainly some clearer skies developing across the west of Scotland and that cloud extends across much of England and Wales with that rain making inroads northwards as we head into Thursday morning.
01:33So some unpleasant conditions if you are travelling first thing, particularly across this eastern zone here as well as the south.
01:39In between just a lot of cloud and that brisk, strong south-easterly wind gusty over the hills as well as the mountains.
01:47And through the day we'll find that snow line falling, so an increasing chance through the afternoon and into evening time of catching some snow over the higher ground of northern England as well as Scotland,
01:58with the rain continuing towards the south.
02:00Taking off the cloud layer as well as the rain layers you can see how cold it will be, particularly with the strength of the wind,
02:06but certainly chilly conditions across central and northern areas of the UK through Thursday afternoon, temperatures struggling.
02:13Through Thursday evening, yet again that rain feeds in from the North Sea with snow over Pennines as well as the Grampians.
02:21This cloud and rain continues to push northwards as we head through into Friday.
02:26Friday, low pressure sits towards the southwest, the cloud and the rain churning round it and still that strong wind across Scotland into Saturday.
02:35And a slow-moving area of low pressure will be the name of the game through the weekend.
02:41Showery bursts coming and going, some drier interludes as well.
02:44Through Friday morning, it's wet across England and Wales.
02:47Rain probably just off and on through the day and that rain persistent across eastern parts of Scotland.
02:53The rain then just pushes northwards across Northern Ireland through the afternoon.
02:57Temperatures in the south, 10 degrees Celsius.
02:59Here's your outlook through the weekend.
03:01Low pressure, showery bursts of rain, temperatures probably 6 to 11 degrees Celsius.
03:06Take care.
