00:00al ahzab the confederates with the name of allah the most gracious the ever merciful o you prophet take allah
00:12as a shield seeking protection in him and do not follow the wishes of the disbelievers and the hypocrites
00:19verily allah is all knowing all wise and follow that which is revealed to you from your lord verily allah
00:28is well aware of what you people do and put your trust in allah allah is sufficient as a disposer
00:36of affairs
00:38allah has not placed two hearts in the bosom of any man nor does he regard as your mothers those
00:46of your wives whom you desert by zihar calling them as such nor does he regard those whom you adopt
00:53as your children as your own real children these are mere words that you speak but allah declares the truth
01:03and he guides to the straight path
01:07call them the adopted ones after the names of their real fathers this is more just and equitable in the
01:16sight of allah but if you do not know the names of their fathers then they are your brothers in
01:22faith and your friends or wards
01:24and no blame shall lie on you with regard to any mistake you may have unintentionally made before in such
01:32a case
01:33but you are accountable for that which you willfully and premeditatingly do and allah is great protector ever merciful
01:44the prophet has a better claim on the believers than they even have on themselves
01:49not only that his wives are as mothers to them
01:54but in the matters of inheritance
01:57the blood relations are nearer one to another
02:01and more deserving to get the heritage
02:04in accordance with the law of allah
02:07than the other believers from among the ansar
02:10as well as the immigrants muhajjiz
02:13whom the ansar took as brothers and united with themselves
02:17yet you can do an act of kindness
02:20to do honorable favor to your friends
02:23this is also laid down in the book of law
02:27and recall the time when we made a covenant with the prophets
02:31and made it with you and with Noah
02:33Abraham
02:34Moses
02:35and Jesus son of Mary
02:37and we made a solemn covenant with them
02:41the Lord did it
02:43so that he may let the truthful give expression to their truthfulness
02:47whether they were true to their covenant
02:49and whereas he will reward the true believers
02:53he has in store a woeful punishment for the disbelievers
03:00believers
03:02remember how allah favored you
03:04when the combined forces of the Quraysh and their allies
03:08came against you in the battle of Assab
03:12and we sent against them
03:13the forces of nature
03:16a strong wind and
03:17hosts of angels that you could not see
03:21and allah is ever a close observer of your painstaking efforts and toilsome deeds
03:28recall how he favored you
03:30when they
03:31your enemies
03:32invaded you at Madinah
03:35from above you
03:36from the highlands on the east
03:38and from below you
03:40from the valley to the west
03:42and when your eyes were dazed in terror
03:45and your hearts rose up to your throats
03:48while some of you entertained diverse thoughts about Allah
03:54that was the time when the believers were put to hard trial
03:58and were violently shaken
04:01recall the time when the hypocrites
04:04and those who carried a spiritual disease in their hearts said
04:07Allah and his messenger only made us a false and delusive promise of victory
04:14and recall when a party of them also said
04:17O people of Yathrib, Madinah
04:20you can put up no stand in the face of the enemy
04:24you had better go back to your homes
04:26or your old faith
04:28to save your lives
04:30and a section of them asked the prophet for leave
04:34saying
04:35surely our homes are lying exposed to danger
04:39whereas they were not actually lying exposed
04:43but they only sought to flee from the battlefield
04:49and if entry of the enemy forces
04:52were effected in the town of Madinah
04:54against them from its diverse quarters
04:56and then they were incited to treachery
04:59and join in the disturbance against the companions
05:01they would have readily gone for it
05:04but afterwards
05:06as it happened
05:07they could not stay there
05:10in their so-called undefended houses
05:12but a little while
05:15and previous to that
05:17they had made a covenant with Allah
05:19that they would not turn their backs
05:22and a covenant made with Allah
05:25will have to be answered for
05:27say
05:28it would be of no avail to you
05:32if you flee from death
05:34or the battlefield
05:35and in case you do
05:37you will not be allowed
05:39to enjoy yourselves
05:40but for a short while
05:43who will save you
05:44from the punishment of Allah
05:46if it be his will
05:47to do you some harm
05:49or who will withhold his favor from you
05:52if it be his will
05:53to show you mercy
05:55and they will not
05:56apart from Allah
05:58find a patron
05:59or a helper for themselves
06:03verily
06:03Allah knows those of you
06:05who turn others away
06:06from fighting in the cause of Allah
06:08and he knows also
06:10those of you
06:10who say to their brethren
06:12come to us
06:13to follow the right course
06:14but they themselves
06:16seldom join the fight
06:18in the cause of Allah
06:20they are niggardly
06:22having no desire
06:23to help you
06:24but when danger
06:26is in sight
06:26you can see them
06:28looking towards you
06:29their eyes
06:30rolling
06:31like
06:31the eyes of one
06:33who swoons
06:34due to the agony
06:35of death
06:36but when the time
06:38of danger
06:38passes away
06:39they lash you
06:41tauntingly
06:42with the sharp edges
06:43of their tongues
06:44being niggardly
06:45of any good
06:46coming to your way
06:49these people
06:50have never in fact
06:51believed sincerely
06:52so Allah
06:54has rendered void
06:55all their activities
06:57and doing that
06:59is always
07:00an easy thing
07:01for Allah
07:03they still think
07:05that the invading
07:06confederates
07:06have not yet withdrawn
07:09should the confederates
07:10come again
07:11they would wish
07:13to be desert dwellers
07:14among the bedouins
07:15in the desert
07:16asking for news
07:17about you
07:18whether you were safe
07:20or destroyed
07:20and had they been
07:22among you
07:23they would not
07:24have fought
07:24along with you
07:25save a few
07:29certainly
07:30you have
07:31an excellent
07:32model

07:35to meet
07:36Allah

07:37day
07:39and who
07:39remembers
07:40Allah
07:41again
07:41and again
07:44and as soon
07:45as the believers
07:45saw the troops
07:46of the confederates
07:47they said
07:48this is what
07:49Allah
07:49and his messenger
07:51promised us
07:51about the defeat
07:52and discomfiture
07:53of the host
07:54of disbelievers
07:55and eventual
07:57victory of Islam

08:05made them
08:06all the more
08:07faithful
08:07and obedient
08:08to God
08:11there are some
08:12remarkable men
08:13among the believers
08:13who have been
08:15true to the covenant
08:16they made
08:16with Allah
08:17there are some
08:19among them
08:19who fulfilled
08:20their vow
08:21and fell
08:22martyrs
08:23and there are
08:24others among them
08:25who are still
08:26waiting to fulfill
08:27they have never
08:29changed their minds
08:30their conduct
08:32or stand
08:33they had taken
08:33in the least
08:36the Muslims
08:37were granted
08:38victory
08:38in this battle
08:39so that
08:40Allah
08:40may reward
08:41the truthful
08:42for their having
08:42been true
08:43to their covenant
08:44and that
08:45he may punish
08:46the hypocrites
08:46or

09:03turned back
09:04a fire
09:05with rage
09:05and full of
09:06spite for the
09:07Muslims
09:07they gained
09:08no good
09:10and
09:11Allah
09:11sufficed
09:12the believers
09:13in their
09:13fighting
09:14Allah
09:15is
09:15ever
09:16powerful
09:16almighty
09:19and
09:20he brought
09:20down

10:35this way
10:35prefer the
10:36abode of
10:37the hereafter
10:38then truly
10:39Allah has

11:54show yourselves
11:55off
11:55as did the
11:56women in the
11:57bygone days
11:58of ignorance
11:58who displayed
12:00their finery
12:01and observe
12:02prayer
12:02present the
12:03zakat
12:04regularly
12:05and obey
12:06Allah and
12:07his messenger
12:08members of
12:10the house
12:11of the
12:11prophet

12:13verily
12:14Allah desires

12:17all uncleanliness
12:18and to
12:19purify you

12:21and keep
12:22in mind
12:23the messages
12:24of Allah
12:25and the
12:26words of
12:27wisdom
12:27which are
12:28recited
12:28in your
12:29homes
12:29verily
12:30benign
12:31is Allah
12:32all aware
12:35verily
12:35Allah has
12:37in store
12:37protection
12:38from faults
12:39and a
12:40great reward
12:41for the
12:42men and
12:43the women
12:43who submit
12:44themselves
12:45to the
12:45will of
12:45God
12:46and for
12:47the men
12:47and the
12:48women
12:48who believe
12:49and for
12:50the men
12:50and the
12:51women
12:51who are
12:52obedient
12:52to
12:52Allah
12:53and for
12:54the men
12:55and the
12:55women
12:55who are
12:56true to
12:57Allah
12:57and for
12:58the men
12:59and the
12:59women
12:59who are
13:00patiently
13:00persevering
13:01in their
13:02faith
13:02and
13:02righteousness
13:03and for the men and the women who are humble before God
13:07and for the men and the women who give alms
13:11and for the men and the women who are true to Allah
13:15and for the men and the women who fast
13:20and for the men and the women who guard their chastity
13:25and for the men and the women who remember and glorify Allah
13:30with all his praises again and again.
13:34It does not behoove a believing man
13:37or a believing woman
13:38to exercise an option in their affair
13:41after Allah and his messenger
13:43have decided the matter.
13:45Indeed, he who disobeys Allah and his messenger
13:50surely strays far away in clear error.
13:54And recall the time when you said to the man,
13:58Zayd, son of Haritha,
14:01a slave freed by the prophet,
14:04on whom Allah had bestowed his favor
14:07and whom you also had favored.
14:10Keep your wife, Zainab, to yourself
14:14and do not divorce her
14:16and take Allah as a shield.
14:20And you, O Zayd,
14:22conceal the cause of the failure of the marriage in your mind.
14:25What Allah is going to bring to light
14:28that the responsibility rests
14:30more upon Zayd than upon Zainab.
14:34And you are also afraid of the people
14:37whereas Allah has a better right
14:39that you should stand in awe of him.
14:42However, when Zayd had done
14:45what he intended to do with her,
14:47we gave her, the divorced lady,
14:50in marriage to you
14:52so that the believers might incur no blame
14:55in getting married to the wives of their adopted sons
14:58after they had dissolved the marriage tie with them.
15:02Indeed, the decree of Allah is ever executed.
15:07No blame shall lie on the prophet
15:09for doing that which Allah has made incumbent upon him.
15:14Such indeed has been the law of Allah
15:17with regard to those prophets who have passed away.
15:22Indeed, the command of Allah
15:24is a decree that is made absolute.
15:28Those who deliver the messages of Allah
15:31and who stand in awe of him
15:34and stand in awe of none except Allah
15:37and sufficient is Allah to take account.
15:41Muhammad is no father to any man among you
15:45but he is rather the messenger of Allah
15:49and the seal of the prophets.
15:51Indeed, Allah has full knowledge of all things.
15:57Believers, remember Allah with much remembrance
16:02and glorify him morning and evening.
16:06It is he who sends his blessings on you
16:09and his angels pray for you
16:11with the result that he brings you out
16:14of all kinds of utter darkness
16:16and leads you to light.
16:19And he is ever merciful to the believers.
16:23They will be greeted with peace the day they meet him
16:26and he has an onerous reward in store for them.
16:31Prophet, we have sent you to be a witness,
16:34a bearer of glad tidings and a warner.
16:39And we have sent you to be a summoner to Allah
16:42by his command
16:44and to serve as a bright sun which spreads light.
16:49And Prophet, give the believers glad tidings
16:53that there awaits them great grace from Allah
16:56and do not follow the disbelievers and the hypocrites
17:01and overlook their insulting remarks and annoying ways
17:05and put your trust in Allah
17:07for sufficient is Allah as a disposer of affairs.
17:12Believers, when you marry believing women
17:15and then divorce them before you have had access to them
17:19they are under no obligation to wait for Edat
17:23the prescribed period of waiting
17:26that you count with regard to them
17:28before they can marry.
17:30You had better give them some provision
17:33and send them away in a handsome manner.
17:37Prophet, we have made lawful to you
17:41your wives whom you have paid their dowers
17:44and similarly those wives whom your right hand owns
17:48after granting them freedom in lieu of their dower in marriage
17:53from among those whom Allah has given you as gains of war.
17:59And also lawful for the marriage
18:01are the daughters of your paternal uncles
18:03and of your paternal aunts
18:05and the daughters of your paternal uncles
18:08and of your paternal aunts
18:10as have emigrated with you
18:12and also has been made lawful to the prophet
18:16any other believing woman
18:18who offers herself to the prophet for marriage
18:21without claiming dower
18:22provided the prophet too desires to wed her.
18:26This is a special permission of marrying
18:29more than four wives at a time
18:31only for you
18:32to the exclusion of other believers
18:35in order that there may be no difficulty for you
18:38in explaining the law to the believers.
18:42We know what we have enjoined on them in the Quran
18:45regarding their wives
18:47from among the free women
18:48and also about their marrying
18:51of those whom their right hands own
18:53in order that there may be no difficulty for you
18:56in explaining the law to them
18:58and Allah is great protector
19:01ever merciful.
19:03Prophet
19:04You may put aside such of them as you like
19:07and you may keep with yourself
19:09such of them as you like.
19:12Similarly
19:13No blame shall lie on you
19:15if you take back such of them as you desire
19:18of those wives
19:19whom you have had put aside in the matter.
19:22Provisionally
19:22It is more likely this should console them
19:25and relieve them of their grief
19:27and make every one of them
19:29well pleased with what you have given them.
19:32and Allah knows best
19:34what lies hidden in your hearts
19:36and Allah is all-knowing
19:38all-clement.
19:40Prophet
19:41You are not allowed to marry other women after this
19:45nor to change them
19:47your present wives
19:49for other wives
19:50however much you may admire their good qualities
19:55only those will remain with you
19:57whom your right hand owns
19:59after your having properly and lawfully wedded them
20:02Remember that Allah is ever watchful
20:06over everything.
20:08Believers
20:09Do not enter the houses of the Prophet
20:12unless permission to enter
20:15has been given to you for a meal with him.
20:18Moreover
20:19Do not wait there for the meal time
20:21Rather you should come when you are invited
20:24and disperse when you have had your meal
20:27nor should you stay over
20:29seeking to listen to idle conversation.
20:33Surely this behavior of yours
20:35causes inconvenience to the Prophet
20:37and he being considerate of your feelings
20:41forbears from saying anything to you
20:43but Allah forbears not
20:46from saying what is true
20:47and when you ask the women for any commodity
20:51ask them from behind a curtain
20:53such a conduct
20:55will better ensure the purity of your minds
20:58as well as theirs
21:00and it is never proper for you
21:02to cause inconvenience to the Messenger of Allah
21:05nor is it proper for you
21:08that you should ever marry his wives after him.
21:13Indeed if you do so
21:14it would be a grievous thing
21:17in the sight of Allah
21:18It makes little difference
21:20whether you do a thing openly
21:22or conceal it
21:24Allah has full knowledge of everything
21:28No blame shall lie on the women
21:30if they appear before their fathers
21:32or their sons
21:34or their brothers
21:35or their brothers sons
21:37or the sons of their sisters
21:39or the women folk of their own category
21:42or those whom their right hands own
21:45and you
21:46all women folk
21:47take each of you
21:49Allah as a shield
21:51Verily Allah is ever witness
21:54over all things
21:56Verily Allah and his angels
21:58bless this Prophet
22:00Believers
22:01you also
22:02invoke Allah's blessings upon him
22:04and salute him
22:06with the salutation of peace
22:10Verily those who malign Allah
22:12and his Messenger
22:13and are guilty of false accusation
22:16Allah has condemned them
22:18in this world
22:19and in the next
22:20and he has prepared
22:22a humiliating punishment for them
22:25And those who malign
22:26believing men
22:27and believing women
22:28for no fault of theirs
22:30are guilty of false accusation
22:33and bear the burden
22:34of flagrant sin
22:37Prophet
22:38Tell your wives
22:40your daughters
22:41and women of the believers
22:43that while going out of their houses
22:46they should
22:47draw lower upon themselves
22:49the portions of their loose outer coverings
22:53from over their heads
22:54on to their bosoms
22:56so as to veil therewith
22:58the arms
22:59the neck
23:00the hair
23:01and ornaments
23:02worn over them
23:03this practice
23:04is more likely
23:06to help them
23:06to be distinguished
23:08from other women
23:09who make a display
23:10of their beauty
23:11and ornamentation
23:13and so saves them
23:15from trouble
23:15Allah is great protector
23:17ever merciful
23:20If the hypocrites
23:21those who carry
23:23a disease
23:23in their hearts
23:24and the scandal mongers
23:26who circulate
23:27false rumors
23:28to cause agitation
23:29in the city
23:30do not give up
23:31their evil designs
23:32and stop their activities
23:34we shall one day
23:35make you exercise
23:36authority over them
23:38then they will not
23:39dwell long
23:40in this city
23:41with you
23:42as your neighbors
23:44they are bereft
23:46of Allah's grace
23:47and will be held
23:49wherever they are found
23:50and put to death
23:52such has been
23:54the way of Allah
23:55in the case of those
23:56who have gone before you
23:57and you will find
23:59no change
24:00in the way
24:00of Allah
24:03people ask you
24:04about this promised
24:05hour
24:06when the
24:07such people
24:08will be treated
24:09like that
24:09say
24:10Allah alone
24:13has the knowledge
24:14of it
24:14and what
24:15shall make you
24:16know
24:17that the hour
24:18may be near
24:19at hand
24:20Allah has surely
24:22condemned
24:22the disbelievers
24:24and has a blazing
24:26fire in store
24:27for them
24:27they will live
24:29long in it
24:30and they will
24:31find therein
24:32no patron
24:33nor helper
24:36the day
24:37when their leaders
24:38are turned
24:38over and over
24:40into the fire
24:41they will say
24:42oh would that
24:43we had obeyed
24:44Allah
24:45would that
24:46we had obeyed
24:47the messenger
24:49the people
24:50in general
24:51will say
24:51our Lord
24:52we obeyed
24:54our leaders
24:55and our great ones
24:56but they led us
24:58astray
24:59from your path
25:00our Lord
25:01give them
25:02their punishment
25:03twice over
25:04for their own

25:07and deprive them
25:09totally of your grace
25:11believers
25:12be not of those
25:15who maligned
