00:11the people the day of their reckoning yet they turn away in heedlessness
00:17no new reminder comes to them from their lord but they listen to it in a playful mood while their
00:25minds are inattentive those of them who have transgressed the limits keep their counsels against the prophet of their time
00:33secret and say he is only a human being like yourselves will you be seduced by his skillful eloquence while
00:42you see and know
00:44on the contrary the prophet's way is different he replied my lord knows what is conceived in the heaven and
00:53the earth and he is the all hearing and all knowing
00:59nay they say this quran is no revelation but a jumble of confused dreams rather he has forged it himself
01:09he is a poet
01:11if it is not so let him then bring us some sign of destruction just as the former prophets were
01:18sent with
01:20whereas before them no people of a township whom we destroyed had ever believed would they then believe to escape
01:27destruction
01:29prophet we sent none as messengers before you but they were men to whom we made our revelations
01:36therefore oh disbelievers ask the followers of the reminder if you do not know this
01:44nor did we give them such bodies as could go without food
01:48neither were they people given unusually long lives to enjoy
01:52we sent our revelations to them then we fulfilled the promise we made to them
01:58so that we delivered them and those whom we pleased beside them
02:02and we destroyed the transgressors people now we have revealed to you a highly perfect book
02:10wherein there is a provision for your eminence why do you not then make use of your understanding
02:18and we have utterly destroyed many a wrongdoing people of townships and we raised up another people
02:26after them no sooner did they perceive our punishment than they began to flee from it
02:34thereupon we called out to them flee not but return to that state of luxury
02:39in which you were provided comforts and to your dwelling so that you might be called to account for your
02:46conduct
02:48they said woe to us we were indeed wrongdoers
02:54then they continued repeating this cry of theirs
02:57till we made them like a mown down field
03:01and extinguished their spark of life leaving them like smoldering ashes
03:08we did not create the heaven and the earth and all that is between the two
03:16if we had meant to make something vain and idle we would surely have made it so on our part
03:23but we were by no means to do such a thing
03:27nay we hurl the truth at falsehood so that it knocks out its brains and defeats it
03:32and behold it vanishes
03:35and you deserve to be punished with jehenna for what you ascribe to god
03:42and whosoever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to him
03:47and those who are close to him do not disdain to worship him
03:52nor do they ever grow weary to serve him
03:55they glorify him night and day and they flag not
04:01and yet some people have chosen false gods from the earth
04:05who are supposed to raise the dead to life
04:10had there been in them the heaven and the earth
04:14other gods besides Allah
04:16then surely both would have gone to ruin
04:19because of chaos, disorder and confusion
04:23glorified then be Allah
04:25the lord of the throne of power
04:27far above what they attribute to him
04:31he cannot be questioned for what he does
04:34because the cause for an objection does not exist
04:38whereas all others will be questioned for what they do
04:43or have they chosen other gods beside him
04:46say
04:47bring forth your clear proof if there are other gods
04:51this unity of god is the message of those who are with me
04:56and the message of those who have gone before me
04:59the only thing is that most of them have no knowledge of the truth
05:03and that is why they have turned away from it
05:07and we sent no messenger before you
05:10but we revealed to him saying
05:13the truth is that there is no other
05:15cannot be and will never be one worthy of worship but me
05:20therefore worship me alone
05:23and they say
05:25the most gracious god has taken to himself a son
05:29holy is he
05:31rather they whom they so designate
05:34are only his honored servants
05:36they do not precede him in speech
05:39and they only carry out his biddings
05:43he knows all that is before them
05:46their future
05:47and all that is behind them
05:50their past
05:51and they do not intercede
05:53except for the person for whom
05:55he is pleased to accord permission
05:58and they are full of awe and reverence
06:01out of his majesty
06:04should any one of them say
06:06I am a deity apart from him
06:09him we will recompense with Jehenna
06:12for that is how we recompense the unjust
06:18do those who disbelieve not see
06:21that the heavens and the earth
06:22were once one mass
06:24all closed up
06:25then we rent them apart
06:28and it is from water
06:30that we created all life
06:32will they not believe
06:34in the face of all this
06:38and we have made
06:39firm mountains on the earth
06:42so that they may be a source
06:44of benefit and provision
06:45for the people
06:46and lest it should quake with them
06:49and we made on it
06:50wide pathways
06:52that people may find
06:54right guidance
06:55to reach the goal
06:57and we have made
06:59the heaven a roof
07:00well protected
07:02still they turn away
07:04paying no heed
07:05to its heavenly signs
07:07and it is
07:08he who created
07:09the night
07:10and the day
07:11the sun
07:12and the moon
07:13they are all
07:15gliding along
07:16smoothly
07:17in their respective orbits
07:19and we have not
07:21assigned
07:22to any human being
07:23before you
07:24an unusually
07:25prolonged life
07:26if you should
07:28die
07:28then shall they live
07:30unusually long
07:31while here
07:34every soul
07:35is bound
07:36to taste
07:37of death
07:38and we prove
07:39worthy of you
07:40now with evil
07:41now with good
07:43by way of trial
07:45and you shall be made
07:47to return
07:48to us
07:50and when those
07:51who disbelieve
07:52see you
07:53they hold you
07:54for a mere trifle
07:55and say
07:56is this
07:58the fellow
07:59who speaks
07:59ill of your gods
08:01while it is
08:02they themselves
08:03who deny
08:04disdainfully
08:05the great
08:06eminence
08:07of the most
08:07gracious God
08:08a human being
08:11is hasty
08:12by nature
08:12I will certainly
08:14show you
08:15O people
08:15my signs
08:17but do not
08:18ask me
08:19to hasten them
08:20before their
08:20appointed time
08:21and they say
08:24when will this
08:25promise of
08:26punishment
08:26be fulfilled
08:28let us know
08:30if you are
08:31truthful
08:32how good
08:33it would be
08:33if those
08:35who disbelieve
08:36could know
08:36the time
08:37when they
08:37will not
08:38be able
08:38to ward
08:39off the
08:39flames
08:40of the fire
08:40from their
08:41faces
08:41nor from
08:42their backs
08:42and they
08:43shall not
08:44be helped
08:46nay
08:47it
08:48the punishment
08:49shall come
08:50upon them
08:51unawares
08:52so that
08:53it will
08:53confound
08:54them
08:54completely
08:55and they
08:56will not
08:57be able
08:57to avert
08:58it
08:58and no
08:59respite
08:59shall be

09:00them
09:00and certainly
09:02messengers
09:02have also
09:03been treated
09:04as mere
09:04trifles
09:05even before
09:06you with
09:07the result
09:07that those
09:08who made
09:08light of
09:09them
09:09were caught
09:10by the
09:10very thing
09:11they held
09:12as vain
09:12and unimportant
09:14say
09:16who can
09:17protect you
09:18by night
09:18and in the
09:19daytime
09:19from the
09:20punishment
09:20of the
09:21most gracious
09:22God
09:22but rather
09:24thank him
09:25they are
09:25truly
09:26averse
09:26to
09:27proclaiming
09:27the
09:27greatness
09:28of their
09:28Lord
09:30or do
09:30they have
09:31gods
09:31that can
09:32defend
09:32them
09:32against
09:33us
09:33they are
09:34not
09:34able
09:35to help
09:35even
09:36themselves
09:36nor
09:37shall
09:38they
09:38receive
09:38any
09:39help
09:39from
09:39us
09:40the
09:41thing
09:41is
09:42that
09:42we
09:43provided
09:43those
09:44and
09:44their
09:44fathers
09:45with
09:45the
09:45good

09:48enjoyment
09:49passed
09:49over

09:50now

09:51are
09:51steeped

09:52negligence
09:53but

09:55see
09:55that
09:55we

09:56invading
09:56the
09:57land
09:57of
09:57disbelief

09:59are
09:59gradually
09:59reducing

10:01outlying
10:01borders
10:02can

10:04the
10:04victors
10:05say
10:06it

10:07on

10:10warn
10:10you
10:11but

10:12spiritually

10:13not
10:13hear
