00:00Al-Namal, the tribe of Namal, with the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever-Merciful.
00:10Taw-Sin, I am the Benign, the All-Hearing God.
00:16These are the verses of the Quran, of the book that tells the right from the wrong and makes the
00:23truth manifest.
00:25It is a guidance and good tidings to the believers, who observe prayer and regularly spend in charity, and who
00:34are such people as have firm faith in the hereafter.
00:38As to those who do not believe in the hereafter, we had made their deeds fair-seeming to them, but
00:46they wander on aimlessly, making all sorts of blunders.
00:51It is they for whom there awaits a grievous punishment.
00:55It is these alone who shall be the greatest losers in the hereafter.
01:01And, as a matter of fact, you are being made to learn the Quran from the presence of the all
01:07-wise and all-knowing God.
01:11Recall when Moses said to his companions,
01:15Surely I see with feelings of warmth of love something like a fire.
01:20I will soon bring you some important information from there, or at least bring you a flaming brand so that
01:27you may warm yourselves.
01:30So, when he came close to it, he was called by a voice,
01:35Blessed be he who is in quest of the fire of divine light, and blessed are those around this place
01:42of the fire.
01:44Holy is Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
01:48O Moses, the fact is that I am Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise, and put down your staff on
01:59the ground.
02:00When Moses put down his staff, he saw it shifting about as if it were a tiny serpent with quick
02:07movements.
02:08He turned his back, retreating, and did not look behind.
02:13Whereupon we said,
02:15O Moses, do not fear.
02:18Verily, I am the one in whose presence the messengers need have no fear.
02:24Nor does he fear who acts unjustly and commits some evil deed,
02:29and then changes over to good after giving up evil.
02:33So, I am to such a person a great protector, ever merciful indeed.
02:40And put your hand into your bosom.
02:43It will come forth sparkling white without any disease.
02:47These are two signs from among the nine signs which you shall show to Pharaoh and his people.
02:55They are truly a rebellious people.
02:59But when our eye-opening signs were shown to them, they said,
03:04This is plain witchcraft.
03:06And they strongly rejected them, out of spite and arrogance.
03:12Although their minds were convinced of the truth in them,
03:16look then how evil was the end of those who acted corruptly.
03:22And we granted knowledge to David and Solomon.
03:25And they said,
03:28All true and perfect praise belongs to Allah alone,
03:32who has exalted us over many of his believing servants.
03:37And Solomon succeeded David.
03:40And he said,
03:42O you people,
03:44we have been taught the language of the birds,
03:47and also the technique of horsemanship,
03:50and bestowed with everything essential to us.
03:55This indeed is a distinct favor of God and his grace.
04:00And there were gathered together before Solomon,
04:03his host comprising of jinn and ordinary men,
04:08and birds and swift-footed horses.
04:11And they were then arranged in separate well-disciplined columns.
04:18Once he was marching with them,
04:20until when they reached the valley of the tribe named El-Nammal,
04:24a distinguished Nammalite said,
04:27O El-Nammal,
04:28get into your habitations,
04:31lest Solomon and his host should crush you unknowingly.
04:36Thereupon he, Solomon,
04:38wondered and was pleased with the good opinion
04:40the Nammalite expressed about his own army
04:43and his army's power to impiety,
04:45and said,
04:47praying,
04:48My Lord,
04:49rouse me up that I may offer thanks
04:51for the favors you have shown me,
04:53and my forefathers,
04:55and that I should do such deeds
04:57as are righteous and may please you,
04:59and count me through your mercy
05:01with your righteous servants.
05:04And once he reviewed the birds
05:07and the cavalry of swift-running horses and said,
05:10How is it that I do not see
05:12my officer named Hood-Hood?
05:14Is he deliberately absent?
05:17I will certainly punish him severely.
05:20Rather, I will execute him,
05:22or else he must give me
05:24some valid excuse for remaining absent.
05:27But he, Solomon,
05:29had not to wait long
05:31before Hood-Hood came,
05:32and said,
05:34I have acquired that information
05:36which you do not possess.
05:39I have come to you
05:40from the territory
05:41of a Yemenite tribe,
05:43Sabah,
05:44with sure and important news to tell.
05:48I found there a wonderful woman
05:51ruling over them,
05:53the Sabians,
05:53and she has been given
05:56everything she requires
05:57and owns a magnificent throne.
06:00I also found her and her people
06:03worshipping the sun
06:04instead of Allah.
06:06And Satan has made their deeds
06:08fair-seeming to them,
06:09so that they take pride
06:11in their practices,
06:12and has thus hindered them
06:14from the right way,
06:15so that they do not
06:16follow true guidance.
06:19And Satan has done this,
06:21so that they do not
06:22worship Allah,
06:24while Allah is he
06:25who brings to light
06:26all that lies hidden
06:28in the heavens
06:29and the earth,
06:30and knows all that you
06:32conceal in your minds,
06:33and all that you make
06:34known of your designs.
06:37Allah,
06:38there is no other,
06:39cannot be,
06:40and will never be
06:42one worthy of worship
06:43but he,
06:44the Lord of the mighty throne.
06:48Thereupon Solomon said,
06:50We will now look into it
06:52and see whether you
06:53have spoken the truth
06:54or whether you are
06:55of the liars.
06:57Take this letter of mine,
06:59deliver it to them,
07:01then withdraw from them
07:02and wait what answer
07:04they make in return.
07:06When the queen saw the letter,
07:09she said,
07:10Chieftains,
07:11there has been delivered
07:13to me a noble letter.
07:14It is from Solomon
07:17and it says,
07:19With the name of Allah,
07:20the most gracious,
07:22the ever merciful.
07:24Do not rise up against me,
07:27but come to me,
07:29surrendering yourselves
07:30in submission.
07:32She said,
07:34Chieftains,
07:35give me your sound
07:37and mature advice
07:39in the matter
07:39which confronts me,
07:41for I decide
07:42no important matter
07:43except when you are
07:45present with me
07:45to advise.
07:47They said,
07:49We are a people
07:50possessing extraordinary power
07:52and are gallant fighters,
07:54but as for the decision,
07:56it rests with you.
07:57Therefore,
07:58you may thoroughly consider
08:00what order you want to give.
08:02She said,
08:05Surely,
08:06when the kings
08:07enter a township
08:08as invaders,
08:09they ruin it
08:10and reduce its most honorable
08:12residence
08:12to the most degraded positions,
08:14and such indeed
08:16will be their ways.
08:19I am going to send them
08:21a significant gift
08:22and shall wait to see
08:24what answer
08:25the envoys bring back.
08:27So when he,
08:29the queen's envoy,
08:30came with the present
08:31to Solomon,
08:33Solomon said,
08:34Do you mean to help me
08:36with your wealth?
08:37Well,
08:38what Allah has given me
08:39is far better
08:40than what he has given you.
08:42You seem to be
08:43rather proud
08:44of your gift.
08:45Go back to them
08:47and tell your people
08:48that we shall certainly
08:49come down upon them
08:50with hosts
08:51that have no power
08:53to withstand,
08:53and we shall
08:55surely drive them
08:56out from there,
08:57disgraced,
08:58while they are subjugated.
09:02Later on,
09:03addressing the courtier,
09:04Solomon said,
09:05Nobles,
09:06which one of you
09:08will bring me
09:08the throne
09:09befitting her
09:10before they come
09:12to me surrendering
09:13in submission?
09:15A stalwart
09:16from among the djinn said,
09:17I will bring it to you
09:19prepared as you desire
09:21before you rise
09:22and depart
09:23from your place
09:24of encampment.
09:25Surely I am strong
09:27and expert enough
09:28to accomplish this task
09:29and can be trusted
09:31with it.
09:32One Israelite
09:34who had knowledge
09:35of the scriptures
09:36said,
09:36I will bring it to you
09:38before your
09:39Yemenite noble guests
09:40come to you.
09:42And when he,
09:43Solomon,
09:44saw it,
09:45set before him,
09:47he said,
09:49This is due
09:50to the grace
09:51of my Lord
09:51so that he may reveal
09:54my inner self
09:55to show
09:55whether I am grateful
09:57for all his favors
09:58or ungrateful.
10:01Indeed,
10:02he who thanks,
10:03his thanksgiving
10:04is for his own good.
10:06And he who shows
10:08ingratitude,
10:09let him remember
10:10that my Lord
10:11is truly self-sufficient
10:13and is in need
10:14of no praise,
10:16oft generous
10:17and noble
10:18in his own right.
10:20He further said,
10:22Make her own
10:24old throne
10:25seem discredited
10:26to her
10:26in her own estimation
10:28by making this
10:29new throne
10:30of a very excellent
10:31standard.
10:33We shall see thereby
10:34whether she follows
10:36the right way
10:37by discarding
10:38her old
10:39idolatrous throne
10:41or whether she
10:42is one of those
10:43who do not follow
10:44the right way.
10:46When she came
10:47to Solomon,
10:48it was said to her,
10:50Is your throne
10:52like this?
10:53She said,
10:55It is as though
10:56it were much the same.
10:58We had been given
10:59the knowledge
11:00about your excellence
11:01and perfection
11:02before this,
11:03and we have already
11:04surrendered in submission
11:06to you.
11:08And Solomon
11:09held her back
11:10from the things
11:11she used to worship
11:12apart from Allah,
11:13for she belonged
11:14to an unbelieving
11:15people.
11:17It was said to her,
11:18Enter the palace.
11:20And when she saw it,
11:22she took it
11:23for a great expanse
11:24of water.
11:25She was greatly
11:27perturbed.
11:28Solomon said,
11:30It is a palace
11:31paved smooth
11:32with slabs
11:34of glass.
11:36She,
11:37realizing the truth
11:38that she worshipped
11:39outward objects
11:40like the sun
11:41in place of reality,
11:42the true God,
11:43said,
11:45My Lord,
11:46I have done
11:48injustice to myself,
11:49and now I submit
11:51myself through Solomon
11:52to Allah,
11:54the Lord of the worlds.
11:57And likewise,
11:58we sent to Thamud
12:00their kinsman,
12:01Sali,
12:02who said,
12:03Worship Allah.
12:05But as soon as
12:06they heard this preaching,
12:08they broke up
12:09into two factions
12:10who contended
12:11with each other.
12:13He said,
12:15O my people,
12:17why do you seek
12:18to hasten on evil
12:19rather than good?
12:21And you ask
12:22for a sign
12:23of destruction
12:24instead of that
12:25of bliss for you?
12:26Why do you not
12:28ask Allah's protection
12:29so that you
12:30may be shown mercy?
12:32They said,
12:34We have suffered
12:35due to you
12:37and your companions.
12:40Sali said,
12:41Your deeds
12:42and true cause
12:43of your sufferings
12:44is with Allah
12:45who is punishing you
12:46for your evil deeds.
12:48Nay,
12:49you are a people
12:50who are being tried
12:52to distinguish
12:53the good of you
12:54from the bad.
12:56And there were
12:57in the city
12:58a gang
12:59of nine persons
13:00who had upset
13:01the order
13:01and peace
13:02in the country
13:03and would not
13:04reform themselves.
13:06They said
13:07one to another,
13:08Let us swear
13:10by Allah
13:10that we will
13:11surely make
13:12a raid on him
13:13and his family
13:15by night
13:15and then
13:16we will say
13:17to his claimant
13:18the next of kin
13:19if he seeks vengeance
13:20that we were not
13:22present at the time
13:23and place
13:23of the destruction
13:24of his family
13:25and most surely
13:26we speak the truth.
13:28And they hatched
13:30a plot
13:30and we likewise
13:32brought forth
13:33a counter plan
13:34of which
13:35they were not aware.
13:38Look,
13:38then,
13:40how evil
13:41was the end
13:42their planning met.
13:44We utterly
13:45destroyed them
13:46and their people
13:47one and all.
13:51So their houses
13:52are lying deserted
13:53over there
13:54because of their
13:55acting unjustly.
13:56Indeed,
13:58in this episode
13:58there is a great sign
14:00for a people
14:01who would know.
14:03Whereas we destroyed them
14:05we saved those
14:06who had believed
14:07and used to guard
14:09against evil.
14:11And we also sent
14:12Lot as a messenger.
14:14Recall when he said
14:16to his people
14:16Do you commit obscenity
14:18while you see
14:19the evil thereof?
14:21What?
14:22Is it true
14:23you approach men
14:25instead of your women
14:27to satisfy your lust?
14:29Nay,
14:30you are indeed
14:31a people
14:31who act senselessly.
14:35But his people
14:36had no reply
14:37except that they said
14:39Drive the followers
14:40of Lot
14:41out of your township.
14:42They are a people
14:43who would pose
14:44and parade
14:45and be extra pure
14:47and righteous.
14:49So the result
14:51was that
14:51we saved him
14:52and his followers
14:53except his wife.
14:55we had ordained
14:57about her
14:57for her foul deeds
14:59to be with those
15:00who stayed behind
15:01and thus would not
15:02be saved.
15:04And we
15:05pelted them
15:06with a terrible
15:07rain of stones.
15:08So look
15:09how evil
15:10was the rain
15:11which descended
15:12upon those
15:13who had been warned.
15:15say
15:16all kind
15:18of true
15:18and perfect
15:19praise
15:19belongs to
15:20Allah
15:21and peace
15:22be upon
15:23those of his
15:23servants
15:24whom he has chosen
15:25who is to be
15:26preferred
15:27Allah
15:28for the things
15:30they associate
15:31with him.
15:35Or who is it
15:36that created
15:37the heavens
15:38and the earth
15:39and sends down
15:41water for you
15:41from the clouds?
15:43It is we.
15:45Then we cause
15:46to grow
15:46with it
15:47orchards
15:47full of bloom
15:48and loveliness.
15:50You had no power
15:51to cause
15:52their trees
15:52to grow.
15:53Is there
15:54any God
15:55with Allah?
15:56There is none.
15:58Yet there are
15:59a people
15:59who ascribe
16:00to him
16:01equals
16:02in all
16:02these works
16:03and deviate
16:04from the right
16:04path.
16:06Or who is it
16:07that made
16:08the earth
16:09a resting place
16:10and made
16:11the rivers
16:11flow in it
16:12and raised
16:13on the earth
16:14firm mountains
16:15for its advantage
16:16and put a barrier
16:18between the two
16:19waters?
16:20Is there
16:20a God
16:21with Allah
16:22as an associate
16:23with him
16:23in his works?
16:25Nay,
16:26not so.
16:28Yet most
16:29of them
16:29do not know
16:30the truth.
16:32Or who is it
16:33that answers
16:34the distressed
16:34person
16:35when he calls
16:36on him
16:36and removes
16:38his distress?
16:39And who is it
16:41that makes you
16:42the rulers
16:42in the land?
16:43Is there
16:44any God
16:45with Allah?
16:46Little is the
16:47heed you take.
16:50Or who is it
16:51that guides you
16:52to the path
16:53of salvation
16:53in all kinds
16:55of darkness
16:56and vicissitudes
16:57on the land
16:57and the sea?
16:58And who is it
17:00that sends
17:01the winds
17:01as heralds
17:02of his mercy?
17:04Is there
17:04any God
17:05with Allah
17:06to do such things?
17:07Highly exalted
17:09is Allah
17:09above all the things
17:11they associate
17:12with him.
17:14Or who is it
17:15that originates
17:16the creation
17:16then keeps
17:17on repeating
17:18and reproducing it?
17:19and who is it
17:21that provides
17:22for your sustenance
17:23both physical
17:23and spiritual
17:24from the heaven
17:25and the earth?
17:27Is there
17:28any God
17:29with Allah
17:30capable
17:30of being
17:31a partner
17:32with him
17:32in all these works?
17:34Say,
17:35bring forward
17:36your proof
17:37in support
17:38of your polytheistic
17:39beliefs
17:39if you are truthful
17:41in what you claim.
17:43Say,
17:45there is no one
17:46in the heavens
17:47and the earth
17:48who knows
17:49the hidden realities
17:50save Allah
17:52and they
17:53the disbelievers
17:55do not perceive
17:56when they will be
17:57raised up to life
17:58again after death.
18:01Nay,
18:02the fact is
18:03their knowledge
18:04about the hereafter
18:05has found its limit.
18:07Rather,
18:08they are in doubt
18:09about it.
18:10Rather,
18:10they are totally
18:11blind to it.
18:14And those
18:15who disbelieve
18:16say,
18:17is it
18:18that when
18:19we and
18:19our forefathers
18:20have been
18:20reduced to dust
18:22we shall
18:23really be
18:23brought forth
18:24alive again?
18:27We have
18:28been surely
18:29given this promise
18:30once before this
18:31and also
18:32our forefathers,
18:33but such a thing
18:35is nothing
18:35but tales
18:36of the ancients.
18:38Say,
18:39travel through
18:40the land
18:41and behold
18:42how evil
18:43has been
18:44the end
18:44of those
18:45who cut off
18:46their ties
18:46with God.
18:48Prophet,
18:49do not grieve
18:51for them
18:51nor feel
18:52distressed
18:53on account
18:54of their hostile
18:55intrigues
18:55against you.
18:57They say,
18:58when will this
18:59promise of your
19:00victory come to
19:01pass if you are
19:02truthful?
19:04Say,
19:05it is possible
19:06that a part
19:07of that victory
19:08which you are
19:09keen to
19:09precipitate
19:10may be
19:11close on
19:12your heels.
19:14And in fact
19:15your Lord
19:16is full of
19:16grace to
19:17humankind,
19:18yet most of
19:19them render
19:19him no thanks.
19:22And surely
19:23your Lord
19:24knows the
19:25things which
19:25they hide
19:26in their hearts
19:27and those
19:28which they
19:28profess.
19:31There is
19:32nothing hidden
19:32in the heavens
19:33and the earth
19:34but it is
19:35recorded in
19:36a book
19:37revealing
19:37the divine
19:38decree.
19:40Verily
19:41this Quran
19:41explains to
19:42the children
19:43of Israel,
19:44both the Jews
19:45and the Christians,
19:46most of the
19:47things concerning
19:48which they are
19:49at variance.
19:51And surely
19:52this is a
19:53source of
19:53guidance and
19:54mercy for the
19:55believers.
19:56Prophet,
19:58your Lord
19:59will rightly
19:59judge between
20:00them,
20:01the believing
20:02and the
20:02disbelieving
20:03people,
20:03with his
20:04command,
20:05the Quran.
20:06He is the
20:07Almighty,
20:08the All-Knowing.
20:11So put your
20:12trust in Allah,
20:13for surely
20:14you stand on
20:15manifest truth.
20:18Of course
20:19you cannot
20:20make the
20:20dead hear,
20:21nor can you
20:22make the
20:23deaf hear your
20:23call when they
20:24retreat turning
20:25their backs on
20:26you.
20:27And you
20:28cannot guide
20:29the blind
20:29as well
20:30out of
20:30their error.
20:31You can
20:32make only
20:33those to
20:33hear who
20:34believe in
20:34our messages
20:35and so
20:36have surrendered
20:37themselves in
20:38submission to
20:38our will.
20:40And when
20:41the judgment
20:41becomes due
20:42against them,
20:43we shall
20:44bring forth
20:45for them
20:45a grossly
20:46materialistic
20:47person,
20:48which will
20:48rule over
20:49them.
20:50That is
20:51because the
20:52people did
20:53not have
20:53firm faith
20:54in our
20:54messages.
20:56And
20:57remind them
20:58of the
20:58day when
20:59we shall
20:59gather
21:00together
21:00from
21:00every
21:01people
21:01a
21:02large
21:02group
21:03of
21:03those
21:03who
21:03cried
21:04lies
21:04to
21:04our
21:04messages.
21:05Then
21:06they
21:06shall
21:06be
21:07arranged
21:07in
21:08separate
21:08columns.
21:10Until
21:11when they
21:11arrive before
21:12their Lord,
21:13he will
21:14say,
21:15Did you
21:15not cry
21:16lies to
21:17my
21:17messages
21:17before you
21:18had gained
21:19full knowledge
21:19about them?
21:20Or what
21:21else was it
21:22that you
21:22had been
21:22doing about
21:23them?
21:25And the
21:25judgment
21:25becomes
21:26due
21:26against
21:27them
21:27because
21:28they
21:29acted
21:29wrongly
21:30and they
21:30will not
21:31be able
21:32to speak
21:32in their
21:33defense.
21:35Do they
21:36not consider
21:36that we
21:37have made
21:37the night
21:38for them
21:38to rest
21:39and have
21:40made the
21:40day
21:40for giving
21:41light?
21:42Surely
21:42in this
21:43there are
21:43signs for
21:44a people
21:45who would
21:45believe.
21:47And
21:48remind them
21:49of the
21:49day when
21:50the trumpet
21:50will be
21:51blown.
21:51then
21:52accepting
21:53those
21:53whom
21:54Allah
21:54will
21:55to
21:55keep
21:55them
21:55safe
21:56from
21:56terror,
21:57all
21:57those
21:58who
21:58are
21:58in
21:58the
21:58heavens
21:59and
21:59all
22:00those
22:00who
22:00are
22:00in
22:01the
22:01earth
22:01will
22:02be
22:02stricken
22:02with
22:03fear
22:03and
22:04everyone
22:05shall
22:05come
22:06in
22:06submission
22:07to
22:07him.
22:09You
22:09see
22:10the
22:10mountains
22:10and
22:11think
22:11them
22:12to be
22:12firmly
22:12fixed
22:13while
22:14in
22:14fact
22:14they
22:15are
22:15passing
22:15away
22:16like
22:16clouds.
22:18Such
22:18are
22:19the
22:19works
22:19of
22:19Allah
22:20who
22:20has
22:21made
22:21everything
22:22perfect
22:22in
22:23every
22:23way.
22:24Verily
22:24he
22:25is
22:25fully
22:25aware
22:26of
22:26your
22:26deeds.
22:29Those
22:29who
22:29come
22:30with
22:30good
22:30deeds
22:31before
22:31their
22:31Lord
22:31shall
22:32have
22:33even
22:33better
22:33reward
22:34than
22:34they
22:34actually
22:35deserve.
22:36Such
22:37people
22:37will
22:37be
22:38secure
22:38from
22:38fear
22:39that
22:39day.
22:41Those
22:42who
22:42come
22:43with
22:43something
22:43evil
22:43shall
22:44be
22:44hurled
22:45headlong
22:46into
22:46the
22:47fire
22:47and
22:48it
22:48will
22:48be
22:48said
22:48to
22:49them
22:49you
22:49are
22:50certainly
22:50reaping
22:51the
22:51fruit
22:51of
22:52what
22:52you
22:52have
22:52been
22:52doing.
22:54Say
22:55in
22:56fact
22:56I
22:56am
22:57commanded
22:57to
22:57worship
22:58only
22:59the
22:59Lord
22:59of
22:59this
23:00city
23:00Mecca
23:01which
23:02he
23:02has
