00:17surely it is we who have revealed the book to you with the established truth to suit the requirements of
00:25truth and wisdom so worship allah being truly sincere to him in obedience
00:32beware sincere and true obedience is due to allah alone those who choose others as a patron besides him say
00:41we serve them only that they may bring us near to allah in station
00:45it is absolutely wrong allah will judge the differences between these believers and disbelievers
00:53indeed allah does not guide him to success who is a liar highly ungrateful
01:01if allah had intended to take to himself a son he could have chosen from his creation the one he
01:08pleased and would not have left it to you
01:11holy is he he is allah the one the all-dominant
01:18he created the heavens and the earth to suit the requirements of truth and wisdom
01:24he causes the night to revolve upon the day and causes the day to revolve upon the night
01:31and he has pressed the sun and the moon into service each pursues its course for an appointed term
01:38behold he is the almighty the great protector
01:44he created you from a single soul
01:47then from that same stock that he created a human being
01:51he created his spouse
01:53and he has given you eight varieties of cattle in pairs
01:59he creates you in the wounds of your mothers
02:02a creation stage by stage
02:05making you pass through three periods of darkness
02:08such is allah your lord
02:11the sovereignty and power belongs to him
02:14alone
02:15there is no other
02:17cannot be
02:18and will never be one worthy of worship but he
02:21where are you then being turned away
02:25if you show ingratitude
02:27surely allah is independent of you
02:30he does not require your thanks
02:32yet he does not approve of his people to be ungrateful
02:37indeed it is for your own sake
02:39that he approves of you being grateful
02:43and no soul that bears a burden
02:46can bear the burden of the sins of another
02:48behold
02:49to your lord shall you all return
02:52so that he will inform you of all that you have been doing
02:56he knows full well even the innermost secrets of the hearts
03:02and when an affliction befalls a person
03:05he prays to his lord
03:07turning penitently to him
03:08but when he confers a favor upon him from himself
03:12he forgets the affliction
03:15for the removal of which he used to pray to him
03:18and starts assigning peers with allah
03:21with the result that he causes the people to go astray from his path
03:25the path leading to one god
03:27say
03:28enjoy your ingratitude for a little while
03:31you are sure to be of the inmates of the fire
03:35can he who is obedient and praise to allah devoutly in the hours of the night
03:41now falling prostrate
03:43now standing upright in prayer
03:45taking precaution against the grave sequel of the hereafter
03:49and hopes for the mercy of his lord
03:52be treated like him who is disobedient
03:55say
03:56are those who know their obligations
03:59equal to those who know them not
04:01only those endowed with pure understanding
04:05do take heed
04:08say
04:09o my servants who believe
04:11take your lord as a shield
04:14there is a good reward for those who do good in the life of this world
04:19and if you are persecuted for your faith
04:22know that the earth of allah is vast and spacious
04:26certainly the patiently persevering and steadfast
04:30will be given their reward beyond measure
04:34say
04:36verily I have orders to worship allah
04:39being truly sincere to him alone in obedience
04:43and I have orders to be the foremost among those who surrender themselves to his will
04:50say
04:51if I disobey my lord
04:53I have to fear the torment of a dreadful day
04:58say
04:58it is allah I worship
05:01being purely sincere to him in my obedience
05:05again
05:06as for you
05:07you may go and worship whomsoever you please
05:10apart from him
05:11say
05:12the true losers
05:14are those who ruin their own souls
05:17and their families on the day of resurrection
05:20beware
05:21surely that is the manifest loss
05:27they shall have coverings of the fire over them
05:30and sheets of similar coverings
05:32below them
05:33allowing them no escape
05:35that is the sort of punishment against which Allah warns his servants
05:40my servants do not invite my punishment
05:43rather take me as your shield
05:47but there await good tidings for those who restrain themselves from worshipping the transgressor
05:53and turn to Allah
05:54so give glad tidings to my servants
05:58who listen to the word of advice
06:01and follow the best injunction
06:03productive of the best result thereof
06:07it is they whom Allah has guided
06:10and it is they who are endowed with pure and clear understanding
06:14can he then against whom the verdict of punishment becomes due
06:19and who therefore merits punishment
06:21be saved
06:22can you rescue him who is consigned to the fire
06:27but for those who take their lord as a shield
06:31there awaits them lofty mansions
06:35story upon story with streams running beneath them
06:40this is the promise of Allah
06:43and Allah will never fail in his promise
06:49have you not seen the sight
06:51that Allah sends down water from the clouds
06:54and it causes it to flow in the form of streamlets on the earth
06:57and then brings forth herbage of various kinds
07:00and of diverse hues with it
07:02then it dries up after ripening
07:04so that you see it turn yellow
07:06then he turns it into chaff
07:09behold
07:10in this similitude is a reminder for people endowed with pure and clear understanding
07:17is he whose mind Allah has opened for the acceptance of Islam
07:22so that he follows the light from his lord
07:25like one who gropes in the darkness of disbelief
07:28woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah
07:33such indeed are steeped in clear error
07:38Allah has revealed the best message
07:41the fairest discourse
07:43this wonderfully coherent book
07:46the verses of which are mutually supplementing
07:49and repeating
07:50narrating both sides of the case in various ways
07:54to drive home the divine injunctions to human minds
07:57it makes the very skins of those who stand in awe of their lord
08:03creep
08:03and their hearts tremble at its recital
08:07yet their hearts and skins
08:09soften towards the remembrance of Allah
08:12this is Allah's guidance
08:15he guides him thereby who wishes to be guided
08:18yet none can guide him whom Allah forsakes
08:21and judges to be astray
08:24is he then who has only his own person
08:27to shield him from the evil punishment
08:29of the day of resurrection
08:30like him who is secure
08:33and it will be said to the unjust on that day
08:36suffer the punishment of what you used to commit deliberately
08:41their predecessors also cried lies
08:44to their messengers of God
08:46so that our punishment came upon them
08:49from quarters they little perceived
08:51so Allah made them suffer humiliation in the present life
08:55and the punishment in store for them in the hereafter
08:58will be greater still
08:59if they but realize it
09:02and we have set forth for the people
09:04all sorts of excellent and useful proofs in this Quran
09:07that they may take heed
09:10we have revealed the Quran in Arabic
09:13there is no deviation from rectitude in it
09:17and is free from all flaws
09:19that they may guard against sufferings
09:23Allah describes the condition of a man
09:26belonging to several partners
09:28contending with one another
09:29and there is another man
09:31devoted wholly to one person
09:34are they two alike in condition?
09:37no, how can they be?
09:39all true and perfect praise belongs to Allah
09:43but most of them do not know this truth
09:47one day
09:48one day you will surely die
09:50and so shall they
09:52after a brief span of life
09:55then on the day of resurrection
09:57you will all dispute with one another
10:00before your Lord
10:04who then is more unjust
10:06than the one who invents lies about Allah
10:09and cries lies to the very truth
10:12when it comes to him
10:13is there not in Jehanna
10:15an abode for such disbelievers?
10:19but he who brings the truth
10:21and testifies wholeheartedly to it
10:24by accepting it as true
10:25these it is who become secure against evil
10:29they will have all that they desire
10:32with their Lord
10:33such is the reward of those
10:35who do excellent deeds
10:38it is they who best deserve
10:40that Allah should rid them
10:42of the worst of evils
10:44which they committed
10:44before accepting Islam
10:46and reward them according to
10:48the best and the noblest
10:50of their deeds
10:52is not Allah sufficient
10:54for his servant?
10:55and yet they would try
10:57to frighten you
10:58with those false gods
10:59they worship
10:59other than him
11:01they cannot succeed
11:02none can guide
11:04the person to success
11:06whom Allah forsakes
11:08and judges to be astray
11:11and none can mislead
11:13the person whom Allah guides
11:14is not Allah almighty
11:17the Lord of retribution?
11:19if you ask them
11:21who created the heavens
11:23and the earth
11:23they will certainly say
11:26Allah
11:28say
11:28have you ever judged
11:30the worth of that
11:32which you call upon
11:33apart from Allah?
11:35if Allah ever intended
11:36to do me some harm
11:38will these whom you worship
11:40be able to avert
11:41his harm from me?
11:43or can they withhold
11:44his mercy
11:45if he is pleased
11:46to treat me with mercy?
11:48say
11:49Allah is sufficient
11:51for me
11:51in him do I put
11:53my trust
11:54those who have learnt
11:56to trust
11:56place their trust
11:57in him alone
12:00say
12:00O my people
12:02do your worst
12:03I shall go on
12:05doing my best
12:06you shall soon know
12:09who receives
12:10a punishment
12:10that will disgrace
12:11him in this life
12:12and who suffers
12:14from a lasting
12:14torment
12:15in the hereafter
12:17behold
12:19we have revealed
12:20to you
12:20the perfect book
12:21it comprises
12:23the truth
12:24and wisdom
12:25it is for the good
12:27of humankind
12:28so he who follows
12:30this guidance
12:31will do so
12:32for the good
12:33of his own soul
12:34and he who goes
12:35astray
12:36will do so
12:37to its own detriment
12:38and so will himself
12:40suffer the loss
12:41you are not
12:43responsible for them
12:45Allah takes away
12:47the souls
12:47of human beings
12:48at the time
12:49of their death
12:50and also
12:51of those
12:52who are not
12:53yet dead
12:53during their sleep
12:55he detains
12:56the souls
12:57of those
12:58against whom
12:58he passes
12:59the verdict
12:59of death
13:00and sends back
13:02those of others
13:03till a fixed
13:03period of time
13:05there are signs
13:07in this
13:07for a people
13:08who would reflect
13:10have these
13:11polytheists
13:11chosen certain
13:13other intercessors
13:14apart from Allah
13:15say
13:16what will they
13:17intercede for you
13:18though they have
13:20no authority
13:21at all
13:21and understand
13:22nothing
13:23say
13:24all intercession
13:26belongs to
13:27Allah entirely
13:28to him
13:29belongs the
13:30sovereignty
13:30of the heavens
13:31and the earth
13:32then towards him
13:33you shall all
13:35be brought back
13:35when the name
13:37of Allah alone
13:38is mentioned
13:39the hearts
13:40of those
13:40who do not
13:41believe in the
13:41hereafter
13:42shrink with aversion
13:43but when the names
13:44of those
13:45who are below
13:46his high station
13:47are mentioned
13:47behold
13:48they are at once
13:50filled with joy
13:52say
13:53O Allah
13:55originator
13:56of the heavens
13:56and the earth
13:57possessor
13:58of the knowledge
13:59of the unseen
14:00and the seen
14:01you alone
14:03judge between
14:04your servants
14:04concerning that
14:05wherein they
14:06differ
14:07and had the
14:08wrongdoers
14:09owned all
14:10that the earth
14:10contains
14:11and as much
14:12in addition
14:13to it
14:14they would
14:15certainly
14:15offer it
14:16on the day
14:17of resurrection
14:17to redeem
14:18themselves
14:19from the
14:19woeful punishment
14:20yet there would
14:22appear to them
14:23from Allah
14:24that which
14:25they had never
14:26even thought of
14:28and the evil
14:29consequences
14:30of the deeds
14:31they had
14:31deliberately done
14:32will become
14:33clear to them
14:34and they will
14:36be caught
14:36by the very
14:38punishment
14:38they took
14:39no account
14:39of
14:40and when
14:41harm
14:42afflicts a human
14:43being
14:43he calls
14:44upon us
14:45but when we
14:46confer our
14:46favor on him
14:47he says
14:48I have been
14:49given this
14:50only on account
14:51of my own
14:51knowledge
14:52it is not
14:54right
14:54it is only
14:55a trial
14:56but most
14:57people do
14:58not know
15:00their predecessors
15:01had said
15:02the same
15:03thing
15:03yet all
15:04their acquisitions
15:05were of no
15:06avail to them
15:07and the evil
15:09consequences
15:10of their deeds
15:10did overtake
15:12them
15:12as for the
15:13wrongdoers
15:14from among
15:14these
15:15the evil
15:16consequences
15:17of their
15:17deeds
15:18shall surely
15:19overtake
15:19them also
15:20they will
15:21never be able
15:22to frustrate
15:23God's plan
15:25do they not
15:26know that
15:26Allah multiplies
15:28the means of
15:28livelihood
15:29for such of
15:29his people
15:30as he will
15:31and makes
15:32them scant
15:33for such of
15:34them as he
15:34pleases
15:35behold
15:36there are
15:37signs in
15:38all of this
15:38for the
15:39people who
15:39would believe
15:42say
15:42oh my
15:43servants who
15:44have committed
15:45excesses
15:46against their
15:46own souls
15:47do not
15:48despair
15:49of the
15:50mercy of
15:50Allah
15:51surely
15:52Allah
15:52forgives
15:53all sins
15:54verily
15:55he is
15:56the great
15:56protector
15:57the ever
15:58merciful

17:34salvation
