00:00al hajj the pilgrimage with the name of allah the most gracious the ever-merciful
00:11o people take your lord as a shield for as a matter of fact the shock of the hour is
00:19a tremendously dreadful thing
00:21on the day you behold it you will find every woman giving suck abandoning even her suckling in the confusion
00:29and every pregnant one miscarrying and people will appear to you to be drunk while they are not actually drunk
00:37the punishment of allah will be so severe that it will leave people in a terrible state of horror and
00:46dread
00:47and there are some people who argue about allah without any knowledge and follow every satan who is devoid of
00:56all good about whom it is decreed that whoever makes friends with him he will invariably lead him astray
01:06and conduct him to the sufferings of the flaming fire o people if you doubt the resurrection then consider our
01:17scheme of unformed things
01:19we have indeed created you from dust then from a sperm drop then from a blood clot and then from
01:28a lump of flesh partly formed and partly unformed that we make our power and the real state of things
01:36clear to you
01:38and we cause to stay in the wombs that drop of fluid when we please to make a perfectly formed
01:45being for a given period of time then we bring you forth formed as infants then we bring you up
01:53with the result that you reach your prime
01:56and there are some of you who are called to death early and there are others of you who are
02:03made to live to the worst part of life a miserable very old age with the result that they know
02:11nothing after having had knowledge
02:13while the earth appears to you lifeless and barren it throbs with life and swells with growth and puts forth
02:22every kind of beautiful herbage when we send down water upon it
02:28such is the cycle of life and nature to prove that Allah alone is the truth and it is he
02:35who brings the dead to life and he indeed is possessor of power to do all that he will
02:44and that the hour is bound to come there is no doubt about it and that Allah will raise up
02:52those who are in the graves
02:56and among the people there is he who argues about Allah though he has neither knowledge nor guidance
03:02and nor an illuminating book turning his side out of pride with the result that he leads some astray from
03:12the path of Allah there is for him disgrace in this world and on the day of resurrection
03:19we will make him suffer the punishment of burning and to such it will be said this is the result
03:28of what your own hands have sent on before
03:30and Allah is not the least unjust to his servants
03:36and among people there is such a one who worships Allah as it were on the very verge in a
03:44wavering state of mind
03:47if any good befalls him he is satisfied with it but if there befalls a trial he returns to his
03:54former ways
03:55he has lost both this world as well as the next that indeed is the obvious loss
04:03he calls apart from Allah upon the things which can do him neither harm nor good that indeed is straying
04:12far away
04:14he calls upon him whose harm is much more likely than his good
04:19how evil is this false god to be his patron
04:23and how evil is he to be his associate
04:29Allah will surely cause those who believe and do righteous deeds
04:33to enter gardens served with running streams to keep them green and flourishing
04:38surely Allah does what he has a mind to do
04:44whoso thinks that Allah will not help him in this present life nor in the next
04:50let him help himself to go into the heaven by some means and cut the divine help off
04:57and then see if his device can take away that which enrages him
05:02that is how it is we have revealed this Quran comprising clear arguments
05:09yet the truth is that Allah guides him to the right way who wishes to be guided
05:16let those who believe and those who Judaized and the Sabians and the Christians and the Magians
05:24and those who associate other gods with God know that Allah will decide between them on the day of resurrection
05:33surely Allah is witness over all things
05:38have you not considered that whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth
05:44and also the sun the moon and the stars the mountains the trees the moving creatures and many of the
05:53people make obeisance to Allah
05:55yet many of the people are those who become deserving of punishment because of their disobedience
06:03none can honor the person whom Allah disgraces verily Allah does what he pleases
06:12these two the believers and the disbelievers are two adversaries who dispute about their lord
06:19as for those who disbelieve garments of fire have been tailored for them and boiling water shall be poured down
06:27over their heads
06:29whereby whatever is in their bellies will be melted and their skins as well will come off their bones
06:37and furthermore there will be whips of iron for punishing them
06:44every time they seek to escape from there in their anguish and from its sorrows
06:49they will be hurled back into it and it will be said to them
06:53keep on suffering the torment of burning
06:57as for those who believe and do righteous deeds Allah will admit them to gardens
07:03served with running streams to keep them green and flourishing
07:07therein they shall be given ornaments bracelets of gold and pearls
07:12and therein their raiments shall be of silk
07:15because they were inspired to speak noble words and do noble deeds
07:21and were guided to the path of the highly praiseworthy God
07:25as to those who disbelieve and hinder people from following the path of Allah
07:31and from going to the holy mosque
07:34which we have made a source of goodness and benefit for all people
07:38and where the inhabitants thereof and the visitors from outside are equal
07:44and whoever seeks wrongfully to promote crookedness in it
07:49we shall make him suffer woeful punishment
07:53and recall the time when we assigned to Abraham
07:57the site of the holy house
07:59bidding him associate none with me
08:03and keep my house clean and pure for those who go round it
08:07perform the circuits and for those who stay in it
08:11for worshipping me devotedly
08:14and for those who bow down and fall prostrate in prayer before me
08:20prophet
08:21call on people to make the pilgrimage
08:24they will come to you on foot
08:26and riding on all sorts of lean and fast means of transport
08:31coming from every distant deep highway and mount track
08:36so that they the pilgrims may witness benefits that lay therein for them
08:42and that at the time of making a sacrifice on days prescribed
08:46they may mention the name of Allah over the beast of the family of cattle he has given them
08:53when you have sacrificed the animal then eat from this yourselves
08:58and also feed the poor distressed one and the needy on that
09:04then let the people perform their needful rituals
09:07regarding the cleansing of their bodies and shaving
09:10and fulfill their voluntary promises made to Allah
09:14and perform the last circuit of the ancient free invulnerable house
09:21that is the purpose behind the construction of the house
09:25so he who honors the things declared sacred by Allah
09:29will find that it is good for him in the sight of his lord
09:33and remember that all the cattle are made lawful to you
09:38except those already mentioned to you
09:41as unlawful in the quran
09:44and abstain from unclean practice of idolatry
09:48and shun false speech
09:51remaining upright
09:53devoting yourselves in worship and obedience entirely to Allah
09:58not associating anything with him
10:01indeed
10:02he who associates anything with Allah
10:05falls as it were from on high
10:08and either the birds snatch him away
10:11or the wind blows him off to some deep place very far away
10:18that is the law which you should bear in mind
10:21he who respects symbols appointed by Allah
10:25will find that this respect proceeds from and leads to the piety of hearts
10:34it is lawful for you to take benefits from these
10:38for an appointed term
10:41they can be used for riding
10:43carrying burdens
10:45for milk etc
10:47then the lawful place of their sacrifice
10:49is by the ancient free and invulnerable house
10:54and we have prescribed certain rites of sacrifice
10:58for every people that they may mention the name of Allah
11:02over the beast of the family of cattle
11:04he has provided for them
11:07so O people
11:08your God is one God
11:12therefore you should all submit to him alone
11:15and give glad tidings of success to the humble and the submissive ones
11:22whose hearts are filled with awe
11:24when the name of Allah is mentioned
11:26and who are patiently persevering in whatever of the afflictions befalls them
11:32and who observe prayer
11:34and spend from that which we have provided them
11:38we have made these sacrificial animals
11:41among the symbols appointed by Allah for you
11:44they are of immense good to you
11:47so whenever you offer them for sacrifice
11:50do it in the name of Allah
11:52while they stand drawn up in lines
11:55when their flanks collapse on being slaughtered
11:59eat from the meat of them
12:01and feed him who is in need but contented
12:05and him who begs
12:07in this way
12:09we have made these animals subservient to you
12:12so that you may render thanks
12:16it is neither their flesh nor their blood of these sacrifices
12:20which matters to Allah
12:22but it is guarding against evil
12:25and devotion to duty on your part
12:28that matters to him
12:30thus he has made them subservient to you
12:34that you may proclaim the greatness of Allah
12:37for his guiding you
12:39and give glad tidings to the doers of good to others
12:43Allah will certainly defend those who believe
12:46because Allah loves no perfidious ungrateful person
12:53permission to fight in self-defense
12:55is now given to those Muslims against whom war is waged
13:00because they have been done injustice to
13:02and Allah has indeed might and power to help them
13:07those who have been driven out of their homes
13:10without any just cause
13:11their only fault was that they said
13:14our Lord is Allah
13:16if Allah had not repelled some peoples by means of others
13:22cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques
13:26wherein the name of Allah is mentioned very frequently
13:30would have been raised to the ground in large numbers
13:35and Allah will surely help one who helps his cause
13:38Allah is indeed all-powerful, almighty
13:44they are the persecuted people
13:47who if we establish them in the land
13:50giving them power
13:51will observe prayer
13:53and keep on presenting the zakat
13:55and enjoin people to do good and forbid evil
14:00and Allah will finally settle all issues
14:04and prophet
14:05if they cry lies to you
14:08there is nothing new in it
14:10even so before them
14:12the people of noah
14:14and the tribes of ad and thamud
14:17also cried lies to their apostles of god
14:21so did the people of abraham and the people of lot
14:25and the inhabitants of midian
14:29and Moses also was cried lies to
14:33but I granted respite to the disbelievers for long
14:37then I took them to task
14:39imagine how terrible was the result of their denial of me
14:44and how awful the change I effected in them
14:49and how many a township have we destroyed
14:52because the people thereof were given to wicked ways
14:56so that they have fallen down on their roofs
15:00and how many a well is completely deserted
15:04and how many a strongly built lofty castle
15:08met the same doom because we destroyed their occupants
15:13why do they not travel in the land
15:16so that they should have hearts that
15:18help them to understand
15:20and ears which can help them hear
15:23as a matter of fact
15:25when going astray
15:27it is not the physical eyes that are blind
15:30but blind are the hearts which lie in the bosoms
15:35and they the disbelievers
15:37demand of you to expedite their punishment
15:41Allah will not fail his promise
15:44remember however that one day with your Lord
15:47is sometimes equal to one thousand years by your counting
15:52and how many people of a township
15:54were given to wicked ways
15:57but I respited them long
15:59then I took them to task
16:01and to me alone shall be the return of all of them
16:07say O people
16:08I am but a plain warner to you all
16:12against the evil consequences of refusal and misdeeds
16:16there awaits protection and a generous and honorable provision
16:21for those who believe and do deeds of righteousness
16:25but those who strive hard against our messages
16:28seeking to frustrate us in our aims and ends
16:31it is they who will be the inmates of the flaming fire
16:37and we have sent no messenger
16:39nor a prophet before you
16:42but when he longed to attain what he sought
16:45Satan interfered
16:47and put hindrances in the way of what he sought after
16:51but Allah removes the hindrances that are placed by Satan
16:55then Allah firmly establishes his messages
16:59and Allah is all-knowing all-wise
17:06Allah permits the interference of Satan
17:08so that he may make the hindrance which Satan puts in the way of the messengers
17:13serve as a trial for those whose hearts carry disease of hypocrisy
17:18and for those whose hearts are hardened because of disbelief
17:22in fact the wrongdoers have gone far in their antagonism
17:27and he permits this
17:29so that those who have been given knowledge
17:32may know that this Quran is the truth from your Lord
17:36and may believe in it and humble themselves before him from their very hearts
17:42and Allah will indeed be the guide of those who believe
17:45to the straight and right path
17:49and those who have disbelieved
17:52will continue to have doubt about this Quran
17:55until the hour overtakes them suddenly
17:58or the scourge of a destructive day befalls them
18:03on that day
18:05the kingdom shall belong to Allah alone
18:08he will judge between people
18:11so that those who believe
18:12and do deeds of righteousness
18:14will be admitted into blissful gardens
18:18but those who disbelieve
18:21and cried lies to our messages
18:23shall suffer a humiliating punishment
18:28and Allah will certainly provide for ever
18:32a goodly provision to those who leave their homes for the cause of Allah
18:38and are then slain or die a natural death
18:42surely Allah
18:43he is indeed the best of constant providers
18:48he will make them enter a place which they will like
18:52verily Allah is all-knowing
18:54forbearing
18:57that is how it will be
18:59and whoso retaliates in proportion
19:02to that injury
19:03which is inflicted on him
19:06and again is transgressed against
19:10Allah will certainly help him
19:13verily Allah is all-pardoning
19:15absolving people of their sins
19:18all-protecting
19:21that system of requital
19:23is to prove that it is Allah
19:24who makes the night gain on the day
19:27and makes the day gain on the night
19:29and that Allah is all-hearing all-seeing
19:34that is also to show
19:36that it is Allah who is the ultimate truth
19:39and that which they call upon apart from him
19:43is falsehood and perishable
19:45and because Allah is the high the great
19:50do you not see that Allah sends down water from the clouds
19:54and the dry earth becomes green
19:58verily Allah is the knower of subtleties
20:01the all-aware
20:04all that is in the heavens
20:06and all that is on the earth belongs to him
20:09and Allah is self-sufficient
20:12and worthy of all praise
20:16do you not consider that Allah has made subservient to you
20:20all that is on the earth
20:21do you not see that the ships sail through the sea by his command
20:26and he holds the rain back from falling upon the earth
20:30save by his permission
20:32verily Allah is most compassionate to people
20:36and ever merciful
20:39and it is he who gave you life
20:42then he will call you to death
20:44then will he bring you back to life again
20:47the thing is a human being is most ungrateful
20:53we have prescribed for every people
20:56modes of worship
20:58which they should observe
21:00let them not therefore
21:02dispute with you in the matter of Islamic mode of worship
21:05and call the people to your Lord
21:08for you are indeed on the exact and right path of guidance
21:15and if they still contend with you
21:17say
21:18Allah knows best all that you do
21:22Allah will judge between you and us
21:25on the day of resurrection
21:26concerning all that in which you differ
21:30do you not know that Allah knows
21:33what so ever is in the heavens and the earth
21:36surely this is all recorded in a book of laws
21:40and indeed it is easy for Allah
21:44Allah
21:45and they worship apart from Allah
21:48the things for which he has revealed no authority
21:52and about which they themselves have no knowledge
21:55and the wrongdoers will find no helper
22:00and when our clear messages are recited to them
22:04you will notice an expression of disapproval on the faces of those who disbelieve
22:08they would almost assault those who recite our messages to them
22:13say
22:15shall I then inform you of something even worse than this
22:19it is the fire
22:21Allah has promised it to those who disbelieve
22:25and what a vile resort it is
22:29O people
22:30here is a parable
22:32so listen to it
22:34those whom you call upon apart from Allah
22:38cannot create even a fly
22:40though they may all join hands for it
22:44and if the fly should snatch away something from them
22:47they cannot recover it from it
22:51feeble indeed is the seeker
22:53and feeble the sought after
22:56they do not appreciate Allah as he should be appreciated
23:01and no true concept of his attribute
23:05they have formed to pay him the respect he deserves
23:09surely Allah is all powerful
23:13almighty
23:15Allah chooses his messengers
23:17from among angels
23:18and from among men
23:20verily Allah is all hearing
23:23all seeing
23:25he knows the future of the people
23:27and their past
23:28and to Allah do all matters stand referred for judgment
23:33O you who believe
23:35bow down and prostrate yourself
23:37and worship your Lord
23:39and do good deeds
23:41so that you may attain your goal
23:46and strive your hardest to win the pleasure of Allah
23:49as hard a striving as is possible
23:52and as it behoves you
23:54he has chosen you
23:56and has imposed no hardship upon you
23:58in the matter of your faith
23:59so follow the creed of your father Abraham
24:03he named you Muslims
24:04both before this and again in this book the Quran
24:09so that the messenger may be a guardian over you
24:12and that you may be guardians over people
24:16therefore observe prayer
24:19keep on presenting the zakat
24:21and hold fast to Allah
24:23he is your patron
24:25what a gracious patron
24:28and what a gracious helper
24:30helper
